Naan bread is always fresh made! Tika masala rocks! The paneer is tasty. Ask for the Lunch Box to go only special! They serve water in metal cups which keeps cold.

I called the restaurant at 9:10pm requesting for a table reservation… and they informed me about 9:45pm they take last order and I can walk in before that.I reached there exactly at 9:30 and they turn me off saying they closed. The owner/ manager was so rude and arrogant. He was busy surfing his phone. Told him that we drove 40’mins to reach there and requested him to accommodate us, he didn’t even look at us and asked us to leave and no apologies.Extremely Dingy ambience … Then one of my friends who had visited the restaurant, told me about how average and mediocre the food here is. So guess everything Happened for good.Never going back.

Great food, great ambience and great service. We ordered tandoori and naan, both were delicious and fresh. Everything is made in the house which is awesome. The mango lassi was pretty good and they were able to make it vegan for us! The eggplant dish was pretty tasty and well seasoned and the vegetable samosas had a great presentation and tasted pretty good. Overall an amazing experience with super nice and friendly servers. Nice lunch special, no more buffet though. :):

The food tasted pleasingly well. The gravy of Shahi paneer and butter chicken were almost same and could have been a little more indian taste like but overall the service was really good. We also had ordered indian tea but it did not arrive until the end of dinner so the cashier crossed it off from our check.. Overall good taste and great ambience

Great food and it seems like a nice family run business.But... lately it seems they have been skimping on the chutney and raita. Maybe due to the inflation we are experiencing today in 2022.Unfortunately, the raita seems watered down. Ive had to ask for more chutney because they only give you one small container with tamarind and one for the green, even after spending over $120 on different dishes.That is all. If you go, youll enjoy it. But for me, I need ma chutney and raita.

Mahan on Main has amazing food. If you have the time or chance to try their Sunday brunch, alcoholic drinks are included. They have traditional Indian food if you dont want to try their brunch. I love their vindaloo dish and you can ask for less spicy if you cannot take the heat.

I ordered food for pickup and had a bad experience. Ordered garlic naan but they gave regular naan with hair in one naan. Bad hygiene and food taste was average. Chicken was hard and was not fresh aswell.

Neighborhood Indian cuisine place. Enthusiastic team and owner. The Lentil Soup and fried okra was an amazing fresh approach. Over the food left is a little short since the mutton seekh kebabs and the goat meat were a little off in taste. The tandoori aloo paratha looked delicious but had the base too thick for our liking.

I feel bad since the service was excellent but I have to call out the overpowering use of fennel/cumin in the plain rice and plain naan. Maybe it’s a chef choice and they seem popular enough with the locals but is it too much to ask to have plain rice/naan? The tikka masala was subpar since the meat was super tough and tasted like days-old tandoori chicken. I liked the curry flavor but the texture ruined it for me, which explains the 1 star review. To end on a positive note, if I was desperately craving Indian food, a to-go order wouldn’t be so bad with homemade rice.

Owner is friendly, service is acceptable. There were only 3 tables filled and we still had to wait a while to get our order taken. They have a lot of pick up/to go orders and I guess only one person handles both that and waiting our table. We also had to ask for water each time. Once again, with 3 tables, its not ideal Id have to ask for water each time I needed it. On to the food. Portion size is more generous than what Im used to. The chicken Tikka masala was amazing. Chicken was very tender, sauce was delicious and flavorful, and it was very fresh. Lamb vindaloo was prepared spicy, and it was on the verge of being too spicy, but thats how I ordered it. I handle heat well, and this was at my limit before I start tasting only heat and not the flavors. The tomato, potato, and lamb were all tender, sauce has good flavor, and on the basmati rice it was comfort food for sure. On the side we also ordered paneer naan and garlic naan. The paneer naan might be the softest naan ive ever had. It was steaming fresh, doughy but firm, and a great dipping vehicle for the Tikka masala sauce and meats. The garlic naan was also delicious and fresh, a little thinner, and a little crisp on the edges. Also perfect. All in all, definite repeat, definitely will try the other items or get all the same ones again. Great food, Service could be improved. Sadly 4 stars. If service was better, 5 stars easy.

Food is good! The only issue and reason why I am giving them 4 ⭐ is because I ordered fried okra and it was really salty, too salty to even eat. I mentioned it to the guy that was serving us but he said, thats how it comes. I am guessing it comes pre-made it something I dont know. He didnt offer to re make it.

Great food! The ownership has changed since they were at the old location near Garfield, however, the food is still really good and highly recommended. The service is great, nice and friendly. Just today, the main guy came running out a block-and-a-half after me to give me back the credit card Id left behind!UPDATE Aug 2023: Food is still great. Vegetable Samosas are hard to beat. Chicken Tikka Masala is amazing. One note, if you want the dinner experience, maybe dont show during lunch because you will likely be steered to more of a buffet experience. Call ahead to be sure!

We havent had Indian buffet in years and dont feel the need to get out again for a few more years. The food was fine, since dishes were pretty good while others had their own spin to them. Selection was mediocre and the gulab jamon were refrigerated (not good). Most trays were very low on food.You get a drink invoiced in the weekend champagne brunch (champagne, lassi, etc.)

Service is awesome but somewhere kitchen department need some more training on food safety & a special practice on standard recipe. Taste is not up-to mark. Though Quality of food is good.Should know the difference between spice level. Incidence happens with Order of paneer tikka spicy that doesn’t mean kill someone that was way over spice but happily replaced by management. Owner was friendly.

Almost no spices used. Tastes like watered down Indian food. If you go out into the sticks in India they might not use heavy cream like we are used to, but at least they are full of spices. The chicken makhani (butter chicken) looked like chicken tikka masala but tasted like tomato bisque. Yes, it tasted as if they put a bottle of tomato bisque and mixed it with chicken.Ten dollars for a buffet is quite cheap though, so if you just want to fill up on something that isnt complete junk food this would be a good spot. The staff was nice and the interior was good enough. My main concern is taste, however, so I will not be coming back.

I loved the chicken tandoori and the pilaf rice as well as the garlic nan I know things are sold separately but the sizes are super reasonable and fairly priced for the portions. I am totally going to eat from here again ! It was my first time having Indian food (not for my husband) but he thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Ordered food to go! we waited like 10min when we got there but thats fine, we were early. the owner brought us water while we were waiting and all the employees were super nice. it smells amazing in there. we arent dining in right now due to COVID, but in the future wed like to come in and sit down for dinner. we ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, plain naan, and laccha paratha, and they were all amazing. my one issue is that I thought the tikka masala would come with rice and it didnt... that was pretty disappointing for the price I paid to get home and have to make my own rice, which wasnt basmati so it wasnt as good. I dont know if Im ordering things wrong or something, Im just used to this sort of thing coming with rice. it was great food and an amazing pickup experience though so 5 stars, recommend!!

Though I noticed the buffet had chicken tandoori as well. It was pretty dry and a bit bland? Lamb vindaloo portion wise was okay. Medium spicy has a bit of a kick. Flavour was strong. Garlic naan was okay as well. Garlic flavour not really strong. Can tell it sat around a little bit to come together with the tandoori.Girlfriend ended up buying some more chicken tandoori at another restaurant right afterwards so take that how you will.

I had ordered from them once and the food was great. The second time I went to their restaurant to have dinner. The food was good, but the lady greeted us very rudely. She was taking an order for a table, which I understood, but when we walked in, she looked at us and pointed to the menus and said “take menus from there and take a table.” The tone was extremely unfriendly. Just to give you some background, I dont actively get Indian food so my review probably isnt the best. I will most likely be reviewing it based on the taste of the food.So, I went on a Sunday around 1:30 PM. I was able to get their buffet for $15; however, if you wanted to have bottomless champagne, you would pay $25 instead. The atmosphere of the restaurant was a narrower, but cozier restaurant in comparison to others that I have been inside. The decor on the walls seem to be traditional Indian paintings -- though dont quote me on this since I am not very familiar with Indian culture. The cleanliness was great and I saw one of the waitresses clean up both the table and the booth when people were leaving. Even though the entire restaurant was about 1/2 full when I entered, the service was impeccable. It wasnt until the restaurant was full when I left that the service started to slow down -- though not to an egregious level.The food itself was good. Each of the items had flavor and they had a decent selection from which you could choose. Some of the meats (like the chicken) were a bit dry, but other meats (like the goat curry and chicken curry) werent. I also liked the sweetness of the cantaloupe that they provided; it wasnt too sweet, but also not too bitter. As for the salad, I wish they had some more premium ingredients inside of it like tomatoes and cucumbers rather than just romaine lettuce, but it could be that people picked them off already whenever they got the salad.Overall, I enjoyed the restaurant and was bloated (my own fault) when I exited. I would recommend trying this place as it is a good amount of food/variety for the price!

Working late at the hospital tonight, I had a craving for some Indian Food. Did a quick internet search and stumbled upon Mahan (Alhambra). Scanned the online menu quickly and saw they had one of my favorite dishes Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken). I ordered and picked up in 25 minutes. So Good! So Delicious! The food was awesome!!! My friend and I were surprised that the dishes only included the protein. No rice, or salad or naan. All had to be ordered separately. We added the rice (absolutely bland) and garlic naan. The young lady who brought the food suggested we add a curry and I am glad we did because that added flavor to everything else. However, after we got our food, we didnt see anyone for at least an hour. Not particularly busy. The lady was at the counter too. We had to call her for more water and the check. This is the 2nd time our family has gone to have Indian buffet at Mahan. We went on the weekend for Sunday brunch to celebrate my mothers birthday We made reservations with no problems. Was looking for some late night food around and came across this establishment. Was welcomed well despite it being the closing hours and expected staff to be tired and all worked up for the day. I was sat down and shown through the menu items. Ordered the butter chicken (I believe they have a different name for it), some naan bread and rice. Everything was cooked fresh and was piping hot when I got back to my hotel. Cleanliness and covid 19 protocol guidelines was well well observed. Food may be a little bit on the pricey end but youll be taken care of when it comes to portion size. I highly recommend this place for those fancying and authentic Indian meal!

This was excellent in several ways, but not so good in another. The service was fine and they were helpful regarding ingredients. The dishes we ordered were very good - the lamb was tender and not at all fatty. But they didnt ask us how spicy and we forgot to say. Maybe because we werent Indian, they made it SO bland that it had ZERO spiciness. I had no idea you could make Indian food to be without ANY hint of heat. We asked for some type of chile - anything to make it spicier. They brought out something that added almost no heat. Black pepper would have made it spicier.So - owners, if you read this, please remember to ask customers if they want it mild, medium, or hot. I would come back if you did, but as of now, it will not be on the top of my list to return.

The food was excellent. The place is obviously family owned and run. My only complaint was the service wait: it looked like one waiter was taking all the orders (we waited at least 15-20 min for him to come back to us but he didnt) another waiter focused on refilling water all night and it wasnt until the owner (I believe) took our order was when we finally were waited on. And then it got busy, and he left to assist other tables even though our order was not fully taken yet. He finally came back when we requested the other waiter to call him back and after that ordeal, the rest of the night was fine. Food was very good~

I have been coming to this restaurant for 16 years. There was a change of ownership once which took place 4 years ago. The good overall is good however one thing I took like about the new owner he keeps the tips . The reason I know previous waiters aND waitress that worked shared this information with me.I dont tip well knowing he keeps the tip.He should be sued but the workers are afraid to say anything and trust he does this not just with Mexican.

I tried this restaurant as the final stop on my Alhambra restaurant week food tour. It did not disappoint. I should have stopped with the vegetable samosas which were the best Ive eaten. The seasoning was perfection and the two samosa (which I had to finish since I knew they wouldnt reheat well) were quite filling, but they were called appetizers, so I pressed on. I ordered a vegetarian dish, since I had eaten so much more meat than usual in the last week, called Palak Paneer. It was a bright, beautiful green color, something resembling creamed in texture, but the flavor was nothing like Ive ever had before. I read somewhere that this is Indian comfort food. I dont know of thats true or not, but I would believe it after tasting this dish. (I also wish Mom knew how to make spinach taste so good!) It was served alongside basmati rice and garlic naan, which were also amazing. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant, but give me a few days - the portion was quite large and I dont want any of it to go to waste.

We got there by 5 pm expecting to have a buffet.. time is 5:10 doors are closed, sign open hangs on a door, noone opens .. I called directly to the restaurant that they open the door .. after long time wait when someone picked up the phone they let us in. Appeared there wasnt a buffet. Everything was shut down. Fine, we ordered a couple dishes, 30 minutes after they brought us something but our food. Ok. Gave them time to cook the food that we requested. More time. Finely we got our food. Mahan offers lunch Buffet from 11 am to 3 pm. And it cost $12 per person. It comes with unlimited naan as well ( original or garlic ). The food selection is not bad. They serve curry ( chicken and beef ), fish and some choices if youre vegetarian. I didnt really enjoy the basmati rice because it was still hard. The garlic naan has good taste and I suggest dipping it to any curry they have. The owners are the one serving you so the atmosphere is pretty friendly. If youre in the Alhambra area and looking for a quick lunch then I suggest dropping by.

OH MY GOODNESS, what a gem!! My brother took me here for lunch today (12/16) and boy was i surprised...PLEASANTLY! The food was A-MAZING. Fresh and full of flavor. Everything (and i mean everything) we had was perfection. Dinner is served family style and the portions are big. Not so much that u are overwhelmed but enough for eveyone to have seconds...and in some cases, 3rds. 😁 I fully expected someones mother or grandmother to be at the stove... it was that good. The best indian food in san gabriel valley! We come here nearly weekly to get our fix and the food is always satisfying. A bit on the pricey side but because we always order enough to cover 2 meals for the two of us. The chicken khati roll and the cauliflower manchurian make my mouth water. The mango chicken tikka is a favorite as well as pretty much any paneer dish, we love them all. The samosas are also a must with every order!

We ordered the vegan thali for dinner using Google’s ordering platform. Very smooth experience, and the food was ready right when I went to pick it up.I plated it at home before eating. My husband and I were able to share the vegan thali and loved the complex flavors and comfort of the curries.Giving it a 4 stars because it is pretty pricey. I wouldn’t normally come here as the Indian restaurant in Rosemead is more affordable and has the no garlic no onion vegan option. I think $20 for a thali may be worth it for someone who doesn’t mind paying more. We ordered from here because it’s close to home but I don’t mind driving farther to save a bit of dough.
