Come here mostly every week. Love the atmosphere of this Sushi place. I especially like to pick the bar seating since the Sushi chef makes your sushis infront of you. Really recommend their Salmon Special and Blue Fin Toro. I basically tried all of their fishes offered here and I would say they are all pretty fresh and a decent portion size. Chef and staff are all super friendly. Although it’s a bit pricey here but fish is fresh!

Denise would answer all your questions, I got the deluxe sushi she recommended and it was big! I was super full after this meal.They would take the ama ebi head from the platter，deep fry it and drizzle some sauce. This is the first time I try shrimp head and its very interesting, very crispy.The kumamoto oysters were on their osusume menu of the day, the kimchi ponzu sauce? goes well with it, not fishy at all.This place is pricy though...

Always fresh.. always delicious, always friendly. Absolutely best quality of fish. This place never disappoints. Its my go to place for sushi and has been for over 25 years. I drive 45 minutes just to eat here. The salmon is buttery. The halibut was fresh, the rolls are tasty and the owners are great. Try it... you wont be sorry.. youre welcome!

We have been coming here since I moved to Arcadia 12 years ago. The fish is ao fresh and the service is fantastic. It feels like Henry and his wife never age. This place is truly special. Come here any time for a fantastic meal, but if you can, come on a rainy day. I promisebyou will feel like you are somewhere far, far away.

DO NOT EAT HERE! You will be upset with yourself when you see the bill and the quality, or lack thereof, of this place. DONT LISTEN TO THESE 5 STAR GOOGLE REVIEWS. GO TO YELP AND SEE WHAT THE REAL REVIEWERS THINK.Im giving this place one star due to their selling tactics insane pricing and the fact that their subpar pieces are so large they are unappetizing.These people are in the game to pull as much cash from your pocket as they possibly can. Ordered hamachi sashimi, they bring the order and another order of the belly. Didnt think they would throw an additional charge for the belly on the bill as I didnt order that, but they did.One chef was cutting some fish for us and his partner told him to use the scrap piece instead of the larger fresher piece. That was the straw that broke the camels back.Then decided to let them Omakase the food for a bit and everything they threw out was the most expensive stuff they had. Toro, which Im not a fan of, Mirugai, which I love, they charged as astonishing $17.00 for two pieces. I dont love it that much.Long story short, if you like average quality pieces so large that you cant fit them into your mouth and feel like overpaying then this is your placeThe bill was an astonishing $247.00 for two adults and one 10 year old child. This was not including the tip.Two adults eating a full sushi dinner and drinking 12 year old Japanese whisky at Oto Oto doesnt even come to this price. Love Oto Oto though. They are now closed on Tuesday and thats the only reason we were at MakoNever Never, Never again! In a million years, I will never return!

This place used to be so good, fresh quality,, and authentic. Its ok now. Still would come back buy not often. The fish seems fresh but doesnt have that quality it had in the past.The spicy scallop hand rolls are still awesome. Cant get it anywhere else the way Mako does it.Still pricey but if their fish was of the quality they were before it would be worth it. So the price is currently not competitive.

I’ve been coming here since I was in middle school and every time it’s just as I remember. The fish quality is really good but rice is average. On the sushi, the fish is served too cold. But the slices of fish on sushi is slightly bigger than average so it’s great bang for your buck! The yellowtail collar was perfectly cooked. It’s a great place for a quality dinner but might be a little disappointing for omakase.

Salmon sushi is amazing. Super fresh and thick slices. Unagi was ok - not fresh as was precooked and chef just heated iit up and put in on rice. I’m used to freshly baked. The premium rolls are super basic so was not really impressed on that front and I asked for an addition of cream cheese in a roll and was charged $3 extra just for cream cheese addition to a roll. I’ve been charged $1 other places but never $3 - it blew my mind because that’s like 3000% markup on the cream cheese. The sushi and rolls were priced ok - I’ve had better price and similar quality near by. Good salmon but will probably not return for my regular sushi nights.

I’m just updating this review. As of today 13Oct20 they’re back in business. I’ll update again since When I eat here this weekend. I’ve known the owner Henry for 20 plus years. They’re the best sushi bar in 626 area. They carry uni and sweet shrimp. Everything they make taste awesome. Their salmon belly is to die for. A must try in the SGV area.

A few years ago this restaurant would have received 4 stars from me. Lacking only one because of the prices they charge. Good food but too much money.Now they get three stars. They are still over priced but the quality of the food is lacking. I shant ever be going back. Too many places to get exceptional sushi so no reason to have sub par.

This was my first time here and I enjoyed it very much. The fish was amazingly fresh. The chirashi was great. The salmon was definitely a standout. Prices are a bit higher than other local places but worth it.

Horrible service, the waitress and owner were rude and unprofessional. Sushi was horrible and incredibly overpriced! Would never go back there. Save yourself from going there, waste of money. Took one bite of my roll and left the rest and they never asked how it was and argued with me when I said it wasn’t good. I have never experienced such horrible customer service before. Awful, just awful.

Arrived here on a serendipitous fluke. Missed the street of another restaurant, but stopped here because open. 2nd Best beer ever (Akiro?). Names are difficult to pronounce, but just point. English translation next to Japanese on menu. Sushi, fried vegetables were good, service fine. Spent $60 between two of us (including drinks). Nothing to complain about!

Ive been coming here since Mako-san opened the place. Now, its under a new owner, Henry, and the sashimi quality is still great. Yutaka-san is always full of energy and is very entertaining at the sushi bar. I recommend Henrys special, which is the spicy scallop hand roll.

We are regulars to this gem of a restaurant.With sushi it is important to have fresh clean fish. So is the case at Makos. We always have the fish soup..only $4.95! Of course our favorite sushi is yellowtail. I also love octopus! We have seaweed salad and edamame for its healthy green vitamins. The treat of chawanmuchi completes our meal as this egg and shrimp is rare to find outside of rural Japan. An orange, which is cut lovely i offered to each customer eating in the evening. At lunch the meals are less expensive and equally delicious.This small restaurant in a bit hidden strip mall in Arcadia California has the authentic atmosphere of rural Japan.We have been customers for 10 years and have enjoyed each meal. As with all good Japanese restaurants the prices are a bit weighty on the pocketbook but good for the body and soul.

Came here to enjoy my evening and a nice meal but was very upset with the outcome. I ordered a plate that came with sushi and asked for no avocado because of a good allergy. Happily they did that, but the reason I wasnt too fond of it is because I asked them to take out the wasabi. They brought it back and attempted to take it out. When they brought it back there was still wasabi on it. Their excuse; Sorry he has wasabi on his hands so there was still wasabi on the sushi. How hard is it to wash your hands and make sure to fulfill my order? On the side note, this man was drunk AF. I dont see how this restaurant is rated this high with this low of customer satisfaction. In my opinion, I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone but the people I hate. Unless you want crap service and crap staff, then dont come here. I can do more complaining but if you really wanna try it yourself, take your risk.

Loved this place, first sushi joint that is playing Japanese music vs club music lol, I though that was a nice for a change from all the other sushi restaurants weve visited, to add to that was the fact that the Soshi chefs look like they have years of experience, and their preparation of the sushi and they way they handle it all proves and represents the years of expertise that they hold, the taste of the rolls and re extraordinary, the freshness is unexplainable, the presentation of the dishes are that of a 5 star restaurant, I cant Express how satisfying our experience was, weve made this Small sushi spot a personal favorite, they open twice per day for about 3 hours in the AM and 4 hrs from 5pm to 9pm, not 100% on the hours so make sure to call or look them up for hours of operation.
