Mama Lus Dumpling House in Monterey Park

Everything about this restaurant (in THIS specific location, I havent tried any of their other locations) is special and cooked uniquely. This is truly authentic Chinese food, so dont come expecting the 19 oz of sugar per family-style portion of food or the MSG. The food is exotic and unique. The presentation is great. The service is fast and efficient, and the place is always brimming with people so make sure to either reserve in advance or plan ahead for some wait times.

Average Chinese food. Came for the dumplings which are pretty average. Theres a beef egg drop soup which is pretty good. Good thing they provide plenty of vinegar to help with the grease that comes with soup dumplings. They can definitely cut back on the grease used in the special pancakes (have no idea what theyre called in English).For the price point, this is a decent place. However, if youre from China and have eaten plenty of Chinese food already theres nothing special here that will seem better than authentic Chinese food. But its good enough to get a good preview of soup dumplings. Just wish it didnt taste like literally every other soup dumpling place Ive been to.This place probably gets full as well during busy hours - was almost full on a Sunday night so plan ahead.

There are two locations on the same street so super convenient and easy to get the table. This place is a dupe for DTF 😉 and worth every penny. Sweet and efficient staff, our foods served real fast 💨 . Its not even pricey if you see the portion size 😳. We were so full and still lots of leftover food.

Drove 2 hrs to try this spot and it did not disappoint. Everything we had was delicious 😋 10/10 amazing job. Strongly recommend try this spot out you will not be disappointed. I will drive back and crush this menu 😋 🤣 for sure.

Definitely a hidden gem. The food was amazing. Best orange chicken I’ve ever had and the juicy pork dumplings were amazing. We also had beef noodles and they were delicious. It was so good, we ate it again tonight. We are visiting and don’t have one in Florida. A must try if you’re in the area!

Great food and atmosphere, the pork dumplings are divine! If you’re ordering online pay attention to the address, they have another Mama Lu’s less than half a mile away. Decent amount of seats, laid back atmosphere and quick/friendly service. Tried the orange chicken and pork dumplings this time, as well as the sautéed vegetables. Veggies were not worth the price but the other two dishes were great. Other location had good quality too. Definitely recommend!

On our way from Universal..we were craving Dumplings so ended up yelping this place .the looks can be deceptive but nice flavourful Chinese sit down place..chicken Dumplings..pork and coconut bread was my fav.

Looking for something simple, I got the yang chow fried rice, which was pretty good, and the crispy fried coconut bread. Compared to the other location, this restaurant put little effort into presentation. See my before and after photos 😂.I haven’t been to this location in a while and it’s definitely less busy than it used to be. I came on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was nearly empty. There’s a lot of tables here and there is parking outside and underground.

First time eating here again in over 2 years and it felt nostalgic af. I remember my parents used to come here all the time pre-pandemic because it was one of our fav Morita restaurant. Their food was always a hit and never a miss. However, I do feel like their quality has gone down a little bit and didn’t taste like how I remembered…

We got the table right away, no need to wait for it. We ordered sweet and sour pork spareribs, seaweed fish, egg tofu and white rice. Food was delicious, big portion. Recommend Mongolian beef, seaweed fish and egg tofu.
