Happy Hour plays a huge part to why I enjoy coming here. The food is always very good. Unlimited refills on some of the drinks. The Mammas Special is good if youre avoiding the rice.

Great Spot For sushie and Hotpot!We have found our new sushie restaurant. This place has it all and some. The flavor is banging! Fresh and crunchie sushie acompanied by an asahi you cant go wrong! Our waiter was checking on us every 10 minutes or less very attentive!

This place is near our house and this was the first time my girlfriend and I came to eat. My girlfriend is a huge foodie and especially loves sushi so quality of rolls are important…and I’m happy to say that she approved this place! The staff was very friendly and very attentive which is always a huge plus! The ambiance was nice and they have a sister store right next door that’s a Shabu restaurant! I would recommend anyone to come eat here!

Very nice claim everyone was very pleasant, helpful. The soup was kind of cool but the waitress happily warmed it up, but I didnt like that. She warmed up my soup and my friends. In the same container and then separated, that was not cool. The sushi, the stuff we ate the rice rolls. Whatever they were better at winco market. Im sorry the coconut once.

Food is great. Drinks are great. Service was fast and attentive. Its a simple menu and the price is fair. Happy hour has good deals. I go here once a month. Usually during the week for happy hour. Weekends get a bit busy so expect to wait. My family loves to eat here then take a walk next door to ross.

My party ordered several bento boxes and a combination of rolls. The teriyaki chicken appeared boiled and wasnt grilled. Tempura was very good. But the spicy tuna is some of the worst Ive had. It was bland, tasteless, no spiciness no umami flavor.

Mixed bag here. Service was not so good the first half of our meal. Refill took forever and food took forever and it seemed like they were understaffed or something, but then the second half of the meal they were very attentive. Same with food. My chicken bowl with all white meat was delicious- love their teriyaki sauce! But with the sushi that everyone got, some was great, some good, and some bad. The aloha roll (I think that’s what it’s called) which was the most expensive sushi they had was so bad we sent it back. It just seemed like the ingredients weren’t properly prepared to make it a great roll like it could have been. Anyway, it wasn’t all bad or all good, but wasn’t the excellent food and service we were expecting based on overall review and we probably won’t return.

The food was good, however one person in our party did not get his food until half hour after everyone else. Glad we had enough to share with him until his food arrived. We did not get all of our rolls, we had to ask several times where they were. The staff was very friendly, but because it was so busy we did not get a lot of attention and it was hard to get anyone to look at our table to help us.

This place did not look very inviting from the outside, but we went in anyways and found a spacious dining area with decent decor. We sat the sushi bar which was sticky. Not sure if this is standard as was explained to me by the standard. Not too happy about that but accepted it. The food was good and fresh, service was standard, and our food was promptly served. Nothing special about this place, Just a basic, clean, fresh food spot.

The sushi here is always consistent. Every time I get my deep fried Jalapeño roll its always the same. Amazing! My girl loves the salmon. The miso soup is always delicious. I love the salad appetizer, the crunchy, King Kong, Philadelphia maximum rolls are some of my favorite! Oh and they have shabu shabu too! Beer! Sake! And the nicest chefs around! The owner is really sweet! I love this place! Pleasant people, good atmosphere. All around great place!

Sushi selections are wide and great tasting. Other entrees are available on a rolling promotion during different times of the week, so depending on what day you arrive, you could get a good deal. The house salad is nothing to write home about. They’re just store bought greens and thousand island. Their sashimi is just par. Skip that. Basically, do the sushi. It’s in the name!

Waited 15 minutes for seating, pretty normal. After we got seated, waited 10 minutes to be helped to put our order in, a little long but not that bad. Waited another 15 minutes for our beers and tempura shrimp that was okay taste. Then they earned the one star from us waiting over an hour and never getting our meal, in conclusion this place was not considerate of our time and as parents on a date night we had to cancel our order to get back home to our kids.

Sushi is fresh & size is decent. I got the option A which includes 4 pcs of sushi, salad, soup, 1 roll & complementary edamame. All was fresh and had good taste. We had a bad experience with the waiter(making bad jokes, did not paying attention to our order details, and killing time to avoid serving his tables promptly). I must complement the manager, because once she was aware of the situation she took immediately action. We got a new server and enjoyed the rest of our time there. The place looks clean and the rest of the staff were nice and attentive.

Love the atmosphere of the restaurant too. I would also recommend it, if its your first time going, to bring a sweater because it may get cold from time to time but I love the air😅

Waitresses kept telling me my food is almost ready and then after waiting way over the estimated time I told them that I wanted my money back. So the manager told me they are just wrapping up the food, and so I go over to the chef in the section to the left and see him trying to make my food super fast haha, so I went back to the manager and told her I want my money back and she actually got mad.

This place is honestly amazing; I never have a bad time coming here. I usually come for the Monday special for the rolls being 7 dollars or under after 6pm. It makes it an incredible deal to get 2 rolls for under 20 dollars. The fish tastes fresh, the variety of different style rolls is great, and the service is very friendly.

Girlfriend and I really like this place. Food is great, rolls are priced well, portions are appropriate. Staff is friendly. I have had some issues tho. On one occasion we found hair in our California roll. The server apologized and brought my girlfriend a Beer and a fresh roll complimentary. On two other occasions the server completely forgot part of the order and either didnt bring it or brought something else. However, all this happened before closing so Im willing to forgive & forget since weve had so many great times here. Its too bad happy hour isnt longer or that it isnt open later. I would definitely come more often.

Was my first time at Mammas Sushi, and I truly enjoyed my experience there. The service was great, the sushi was good. I ordered the tuna roll and the Mammas Special, I think it was called. I had expected them both to be bigger, but, to be fair, the amount I paid for both of those was the same amount youd pay for a larger roll, and I still left feeling very satisfied! Will definitely be visiting again!

I keep coming back to mama’s and really want to give more stars but because of the good food and service we’ve experienced there, but the inconsistency with service on multiple occasions has become hard to overlook. On the last occasion we visited we ended up walking out after waiting at the host desk and not being greeted or acknowledged by multiple staff after a good amount of time. The sushi is good and the specials are very reasonable but might not come back due to slow service we’ve had on a bunch of visits.

This place has always been a hit or miss for me. The food has been amazing in every visit Ive done, however the wait staff will be 50-50. I wouldnt recommend going there when you are very hungry and you would either wait to be seated for a while and then wait for the food. Even when ordering food to go. Im not saying this as a complaint as I am a very patient person but I waited 20 minutes when I ordered to go once and it was not busy at all. What is making me give this place 3 stars is the fact that there have been instances where their service has been rude. For example, when I went up to this one girl to order my to go order, she looked annoyed that she had to take my order and was overall dry. There honestly a lot better places for sushi. I just kept staring at the staff walking past me until someone finally walked towards me from the back of the restaurant. Very disappointing.Deep fried jalapenos were cold and really small. Sexy Roll is very bland and made with canned jalapenos. Nothing tasted good.Ordered by phone, they said 35-40 minutes and it ended up being an hour and 15 minutes. Needless to say this was a first and last time visit.

The food takes a long time to arrive never comes at the same time. You and your guest will eat at different times. Plus theres hidden cameras in the ceiling, so you can take care of business on your phone while you wait. They need to hire more servers.

I was lookIng for a sushi place around bellflower to treat a client.Based on the Yelp high review, I chose Mamas.I studied the menu before going there since this is the first time in order to make sure I select the good stuff for my client.For lunch, I ordered dinner sashimi (~$20) as an appetizer for beer.At the same time, I ordered two lunch combos; for me Teri beef and Tempura, for my client Salmon and Tempura.Dinner sashimi never came and two lunch combo were served first.I questioned about the sashimi order and my server confirmed the order was not put in to sushi chef. She ensured me it would be ready shortly.I was very disappointed for three reasons;1. Servers mistake of not double checking the order with chef2. Sashimi was very poor quality for the price; paper thin slices, artificial color of raw tuna3. Teri beef was so tough (it was like beef jerky). If I was the cook, I would throw away and never served such overcooked meat to customersPerhaps, they may be good for other dishes but I would not go back to this restaurant.For the future customer, dont trust most of the Yelp reviews, and dont expect too much from this restaurant.

All rolls are mostly crab meat rolls, and way too much crab meat and rice per roll. I couldn’t even fit one piece in my mouth. I dont think anyone was actually Japanese. Started off with dirty cup & floating things in my drink. When the food arrived, there was a long black hair on the food & I pointed it out to the server as she was placing the plate in front of me. She took the plate back and in less than 60 seconds, the plate was right back. The restaurant now carries a B from the health inspector, and I must regrettably agree; food smears decorated the floor, with broken chopsticks accenting the unwashed tiles. I ordered a spider roll, a classic from the menu, and it arrived barely formed; the nori did not wrap around the roll, and it was poorly packed. The spider roll crumbled into a spider roll salad on its way from the bar to the table.We requested another roll from the chefs, and they laughed at the request (Sushi bar, so you can see the chefs). They formed another that also fell apart. They also attempted to overcharge me by trying to sell me a double order on some sashimi; the ticket was written correctly, so I can only assume some kind of miscommunication.I used to love this restaurant, but I must advise against eating here until they clean up. I see the other positive reviews here, so I have difficulty reconciling those with my experience... but perhaps the early evening crew are not so good?

So Im waiting on my order atm. Been waiting for about 30 minutes for two California rolls and it finally came. Now still waiting for the remaining two rolls, rainbow and sunrise roll. Finally as Im rating this they arrived about 40 mins later. Still got another order....a small sashimi platter....first time here n i dont think on coming back. Once your mood of waiting goes bad so does your appetite. :( two stars is for bringing my drinks within 5 mins of taking my order...i was really thirsty after a day at the amusement park.

The worst sushi I have ever had! I went because of all these great reviews and Im confused why so many people like this place. The rolls were dry with no flavor and the sashimi was chewy and also had no flavor. The best thing about this place is the size of the restaurant. Im still looking for a sushi place here in Long beach/lakewood that compares to the best sushi place Ive ever eaten in whittier...Azabu.

Very dissatisfied with the Mamma Boat. For one, it says it feeds two, thats a big fat lie. For another, they almost forgot to bring the sashimi which when it did come, there was 5 pieces of fish, only two kinds. This is something I would expect from a fast food style sushi joint, but from this place??? Definitely doesnt deserve the amount of stars its been given.
