Good quality Korean Japanese food at a great price. ManSun Special was good. Spicy Seafood Stew (매운탕) was also really delicious. Neighborhood restaurant kind of vibe. Simple interior, but great service.

Family run establishment. Reasonable price and quality. Not bad if you want sushi and don’t want to drive far.I do not recommend Uni or the fish roes on rice. Not worth it.

Came here the first time for lunch, and I am satisfied with the quality of sushi/sashimi and service. Sushi is fresh and decent. The rice ratio on sushi is perfect. Uni (sashimi) costs $19.99 for 4 pieces, but some portions are quite small. Nevertheless, uni is fresh and delicious.Lunch comes with a few small plates of Korean side dishes (banchan), including some delicious mushrooms. After lunch, a complimentary green tea ice cream is served.I recommend this restaurant, and I will be back soon for another round of delicious sushi/sashimi.

The sea urchin rice is very fresh. I recommend it to everyone. The paste on the outside of the tempura is a bit hard. It should be the wrong ratio of flour and starch. The sashimi was a little dry, it should have been a little long. The ratio of rice vinegar in sushi is a bit high, the taste is a bit sour, and the rice is a bit sticky！

Came here for the first time today. Ordered the extra large sashimi platter. Ran about $150 for the extra large. It feeds about 3-4 people. All the waitresses were super friendly and the fish/entrees were all amazing. Super fresh! Would definitely come back here. Great place to eat, and drink some soju or beers.

My daughter and I sort of stumbled upon ManSun while vacationing and loved it! I got the Sashimi Salad and one order of Yellow Fin sashimi and couldnt believe how big the portions were. It was all fresh and excellent. My daughter got a bento bowl and had to about 1/3 of it back to our room as leftovers since the portions were so big. We would definitely go back.

Love the value of the dinner boxes here along with the luxury of the dinner special! There are a good variety of items to choose from the menu including multiple kinds of udon for people not that hungry, to dinner boxes for those not in the mood for sashimi, and finally the dinner special which comes out absolutely beautiful. I did not have a chance to take a picture of this since it was demolished immediately upon landing on the table, but wow what a crowd pleaser!

Ordered a Family Boat to-go and was shocked at how much food there was!! Along with a big sushi & roll platter, it came with chicken teriyaki, miso soups, edamame, and a variety of side dishes. It was more than enough food for 4 people. Could easily feed 5-6! Affordable prices too.

The dinner combination portion is big enough for an adult and a kid to share. Sushi combination has only three kind of fishes (albacore, tuna & salmon) +roll (California or spicy tuna). However, its fresh and delicious.I also love the complimentary roast rice tea.I see lots of people ordering sea urchin rice. That looks good and tasty too.Also, the complimentary small dishes were a big plus.

This is a Korean Sashimi restaurant also known as a HwehtJip. Main difference of a Korean Hweh is that it comes with multiple items that are part of it - sort of a course meal and a utilitarian version of a Japanese omakase. I really love an authentic Korean Hwejip!With a party of 3 adults and a small child, we ordered a large sashimi plate for $100. It came with many items. Most were pretty standard Korean hweh-jip food offerings, and seemed fillerfoodish. Sashimi plate featured mostly snapper and other white, translucent fleshy fish. There was few thinly sliced - I think 4 slices - faytty tuna and salmon.Staff was friendly and attentive at this small restaurant.2 whole sea urchin rice came with this hweh dinner plate and was very tasty. I think this was the highlight of this dinner. It was a Large size sea urchin in its natural shell. And to finish off, a spicy fish soup which was a bit bland - I was hoping for a steamy, spicy broth with some fish bones. As a drinker, I really look forward to the rich fish soup at korean hwehjip restaurants - its an indicator of the restaurant and its overall dedication to food. Although I was impressed by the sheer volume of food, I was a bit disappointed by its overall generic-ness(if thats a word). We did not finish the pot.Overall, this restaurant is clean and staff is attentive. However, food is mediocre. I think they may have stopped being innovative at one point - owners got too comfortable with their offerings and becoming cookie-cutter.Dont go to this restaurant expecting a Japanese style sushi bar experience, as it is a very traditional Korean hwehjipDespite some of its short coming, I would recommend it for novice Korean sashimi patrons as it is a different experience from a Japanese sashimi.It was nice to visit after 30 years to see this restaurant still in business with same name.

Went in worried, as we were a large party and the place is small. It was unfounded though, because we were given a small room with privacy and easy access. Staff is great and very attentive; even with a small child, we never had to flag anyone down for anything, and they helped us order the perfect amount of food and variety to accommodate everyone. Everything was delicious (we had the Family Boat, 3 dinner bento, tempura bowl and udon) and left fat and happy. The manager/owner(?) Also gave our youngin a Christmas surprise at the end that she wont soon forget. A wonderful place to eat with friends or family.

GREAT EXPERIENCE!! We were greeted upon walking in and were seated quickly. Everyone in there was friendly and helpful when asked questions about the menu.Within 10 minutes of being seated we were given complimentary salad, soup, fish cakes, seaweed, steamed veggies, mushrooms and a few other items. The raw fish was good and cold. All the rolls were a good size and taste good! The prices were great!!! We were given complimentary ice cream after our dinner.They give all kids toys on the way out!! I will definitely bring my family back! Not to metion we drove 1hr. 30 mins just to come eat.

This place is a jewel. The sushi was very good but the sashimi was top notch. We had the combo boat for a group and it was very affordable for a great spread of top quality sashimi and sushi. I can definitely see why people are raving about this pretty new Japanese restaurant! My boyfriend came here with his friends and liked it so much, he decided to bring his family and me back again a few days later.Ambience: The restaurant itself is quite small, so apparently there is usually a long wait in order to be seated. They also dont accept reservations after 7 PM or so either, which is quite fair. And this place is quite popular among the younger crowd who dont seem to mind the hour or so wait that might occur. There isnt a parking lot either - besides street parking - or in the lot next door (which technically is a part of the farmers market). We were lucky and were able to be seated in a private room. The pictures on the wall and the furniture all were very nice, but the food is the focal point of this review!Food: People mainly come here for the uni bowl, which I think is a part of their sashimi deals. We ordered two large sashimi platters. Because they are a Korean owned restaurant, they served a lot of unique small dishes that included snails, kimchi, seaweed, shrimp, pancake, etc. The sashimi platter was enormous and had so many slices of fresh fish on it - salmon, yellowtail, albacore, lobster tail ... I cant eat fish, but I did taste the salmon and lobster tail, and both were amazing. Salmon was soft, succulent and overall smooth.But the best part of the meal was indeed the uni bowl. Each person had their own individual uni shell that had sticky rice, seaweed, uni, fish egg, and picked radish. The sticky rice had good flavor, so when mixed with everything else (along with the sesame and seaweed), had incredible flavor that made me want to keep eating even though I was already pretty full.After the uni bowl, they take the lobster (which is placed in front of you on the platter while it is slowly dying ... poor guy) to make into a lobster soup. Definitely hit the spot after a pretty full meal. And on top of that - vanilla ice cream to be served at the end!Service: was amazing. Everybody was courteous and really nice. They stopped by often to make sure we were okay, and I felt like they were constantly bringing us food. Even though I couldnt eat a lot of the food that was served, I felt pretty full by the end!tl;dr - I would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant, especially if you are a fan of sushi or uni. Fresh fish, great quality, large quantity at a pretty good price! Just try to go early .. or if you dont mind, come with people you can chat with while waiting for a table. Definitely will come back to try that uni bowl again!

I was finally able to try their uni bowls and I really wanted to get the large ($15), but they ran out :[ However, they were going to let me have two small ones for the same price (originally $9 each), but I decided to just get a small one to try and leave room for all the other delicious fish on the menu. I was a little confused at first because, of course, I yelped this place before coming here and there were certain rolls that I saw in their pictures that were either not offered or not made the same way. It just depends on which sushi chef is working that day. Also, another turn off was that they gave us a menu, but it didnt have ANY rolls on it until I had to ask our server and then he brought out another menu. Last turn off was that when I asked our server what each sashimi platter came with and he told me it was just up to the chef that day.... mmmkay. I ended up ordering a small uni bowl, lobster roll, salmon crunch roll, and a sashimi platter. Thankfully, everything was great so I will forgive all the weird/mysterious ordering at the beginning of the dinner.Side notes:-Small parking. You can try to find parking on the street as well, but I just parked at the lot next to it and nothing happened to my car. Wooooo-Uni bowl isnt on the menu so youll just have to ask for it.-This place is Korean owned so you also get ban chan (side dishes)! Best of both worlds :)

I can see the hype of this place. Its located in DB/Walnut. It serves live fish and urchin (which is REALLY sad cuz you see the food moving). It has fresh sashimi.FOOD:I ordered the Man Sun dinner.1. The sashimi was great. It was fresh.2. The roll was standard. They ran out of tuna rolls so I got the California roll.3. They forgot my salad... and then it took awhile but the salad was average. Its just a salad.4. The tempura was good.5. Green tea ice cream is always good.6. Albacore roll: Meh, this didnt seem so fresh compared to the other sashimi. I was slightly disappointed.7. The Lobster roll was pretty good except they skim you on the lobster.SERVICE:SUPER SLOW.Good luck getting water.Sometimes we had to remind them we were waiting on food. It is funny. A Japanese restaurant but serve you Korean kimchi. A restaurant that doesn’t have sea urchin then tell you roe is the same thing. A restaurant that the waitress barely speaks English. Not a real Japanese restaurant and people don’t know what they are talking about. Good luck.

The sea urchin rice is very bad. The sea urchins in one rice meal add up to less than a small spoon and are not complete sea urchins. They melt when dug out. They cannot be sold at all.
