Been a long time fan of Masarus. Their food is still wonderful and quick when you’re in a hurry. Not sure who the gal is up front anymore but she’s younger and FULL of attitude. She was writing my order down before I could finish and said I was frustrating her. I can’t believe you would have someone like that as a front customer service worker.

The lady with no name tag was totally horrible. I have been coming here for years but will not be back. Her attitude was nasty on the phone and even worse in person. I asked her for napkins and she had the audacity to ask me if I looked, well obviously I had and that is why I was asking smh. She then threw the napkins in my bad. We are truly living in the last days. Lord help her! 🙏🏾

FOR YEARS I stopped going to Masarus because the chicken was so dry! Something changed post covid. Ever since its so much better. Keep it up Masarus! Quality matters.

This visit/review actually took place on May 4, 2022 . . .Food was overall good. I had the Teriyaki Beef Rice bowl however the lady behind the register/order taker just seems borderline rude. Nothing specific but it was just her attitude. A very good way to drive away customers.

Food quality and portion size has gone down significantly over the last 2-3 years. The dining room is disgusting!! It looks like they haven’t mopped in months or years, there is a think black layer of grease covering the floor, the tables are all dirty, and the chairs are gross and falling apart as well. It’s too bad because they have a unique, simple, and tasty menu, but I will not be back for quite some time because of all of these problems. I genuinely hope the owner sees this and corrects the problems!

Its a very simple place to grab good Japanese food. The rice bowls are a bit smaller than Id hope for. I also wish they had other options than rice, perhaps salad, in the rice bowls.

I used to really love this place. The food is amazing but the lady in the front taking orders is so rude. If you pronounce anything wrong she will literally make fun of you while you are still there to the other employees. Great food horrible customer service.

Quality of food is not great, but ok. Service is top notch, very friendly. But with the food, You get what you pay for unfortunately. (Might I add that there was nothing wrong with the food. It was just.. ok) only a few sushi rolls to choose from, and sushi was more rice than meat. The rice bowls were small in my opinion, but again, for how cheap they were I think the proportion was right for the price.

Last Tuesday we went here for lunch. The credit card machine was broken (we understand these things happen) but the disgruntled woman working that day could not be any ruder! Its not our fault the stupid CC Machine was broken. She put a small sign on the door that said CASH ONLY. We had no issue paying cash. Our issue was her resting b..tch face. She was so so rude. We no longer live in Visalia but wanted to go to Masarus because we always loved it and ate their before. Wow! Have things changed. I feel bad for the owners. I doubt they would be happy if they saw how this employee was treating guests. I guarantee they are losing business by the day. I certainly will never go back.

Food is ok when they get your order right. Customer service sucks. I went in to pick up an order as I was waiting while somebody else was on the phone on hold. The girl told the guy with the tattoos on his arm I have somebody on hold then he shouts out from the back well tell them to wait even longer and started laughing. So rude especially when there’s customers in the front waiting for food. Therefore I will never tip this place again. The owner doesn’t really care either I guess he rarely goes in. So it’s a free for all kind of place. Don’t tip for rude sevice. The big girls always have an attitude with customers. I will continue to be nice and polite as I always am just will never tip. Instead I’ll give it to the homeless guy that hangs out there outside. At least he’s appreciate the tip.

Really rude when placing an order over the phone unfortunately. I used to love the chicken salads but the portions have shrunk significantly. If you need to charge more then do it, but don’t cut down on the portions. Probably won’t come back again, too bad because we used to love Masarus.Update: Masarus is still hiring rude people at the counter. Here’s some advice if your taking orders over the phone, it’s polite to say bye at the end of a phone call, sad your mama never taught you that. Thank you.

My family use to love this place. In the last couple of years the quality of food and service went down. Our chicken bowls use to be good now we get sharp bones every few bites. We asked customer service if we can possibly get a bowl with no bones and she replied, we cant help it which means in other words were too lazy. Also, we had a few teriyaki sauce side cups with things floating in them. I had to drive back to exchange the teriyaki sauce but ended up throwing the food away because I was turned off, blah. We never went back since and its a shame because we enjoyed this local place.

I just called to place an order over the phone and asked for a total. When the lady responded it was something I definitely did not expect. She said sorry we don’t give prices over the phone. WTH? So I told her we’ll i need to know so that way I can make sure I bring enough money to pay you and she asked me well how much do you have? I was shocked! What the hell do you mean? I felt very degraded and felt like that was a inconsiderate question to ask not to mention degrading and out of line! The food is good but this experience I just had was BEYOND HORRIBLE! Teach your employees better customer service! Or better yet just plain MANNERS!

I absolutely love the food at Masarus. I eat there every chance I get. I usually order a beef teriyaki bowl, 2 tempura shrimp, 1 order of tempura vegetables and a large ice tea. The staff are always friendly and they always make sure the sauces are in the bag. Good job Masarus kudos to you!

The woman who runs the place is absolutely amazing and always greets me with a smile, shes so friendly and always going the extra mile to keep each customer happy. Shes such an amazing addition to this place and is one of the reasons I always come back. The service is amazing, but the food always tops it off. Such a great place! She needs a raise!

My fiancé and I love this place we get the spicy chicken teriyaki bowls all the time. I just couldn’t give it 5 stars because I keep getting chicken bones in my bowl like almost every time. The first few time I understood because they were small but man I just pulled a big bone out of my bowl this time.

Awesome beef bowl, however the owner who refuses to get a second cash register and makes me stand in line for ten minutes listening to people place their orders while I watch my food get cold on the counter, needs a lesson in customer service. Not to mention that every time their phone rings, it disrupts the credit card transaction in progress. I mean, really. Spend just a little bit of that profit you have to be making and update your counter. Otherwise no beef bowl is worth the frustration of getting slow, fast food.

Very good. Food Japanese style teriyaki chicken steamed rice tempura vegetables all very good used to be able to dine in because of the covid-19 crisis its take out and go one of the best in Visalia whats whats two locations winning Marys Vineyard and the other one hearing of Goshen and Akers recommended highly I give it a high rating cuz it deserves it everyone should come out in support them as one of the restaurants I need to keep in business part of Visalia so please come one come all come and try it good Japanese food

The food at Masarus is good. Unfortunately for me, the staff is very short & rude to their customers. This for me is a BIG negative... I have also placed orders over-the-phone, and have had to go back a number of times because my order was wrong. Now I go in and eat so I can make sure my order is correct. Ordered a couple of pieces of the inari sushi, norimaki sushi and a couple of beef sticks. Wow! Took me back home to Kauai where these items are pretty much the staple at any family beach bbq or gathering! As we say in Hawaii, WAS SO ONO! IT WEN BROKE DA MOUT!
