Ive found our new go to place for sushi! We tried Matsuyama on a friends recommendation and were not disappointed! We ordered the Rock and Roll, Jungle, and Crazy Monkey rolls. Each was delicious! Well definitely be back for our new favorites and to sample their many other creations!

This was really good sushi. The inside was clean and decorated well. Bathroom was clean as well. We got the tempura for starters and it was really delicious, fresh veggies and fried in fresh oil. We got two rolls, one fried and one not. I got jungle roll which was not fried and it was superb! I tried my girlfriends fried roll and it was just as scrumptious. You could go either way, fried or not both are excellent! Service was also very prompt and nice

Chicken fried rice was disgusting af. It did not smell good and i regret trying it. It didnt even look/taste like chcken at alllllll. Do not recommend.

It seemed very popular, clean and were very hospitable. It tasted different than the sushi I normally get so Im a bit prejudiced but its definitely a place to try. I did enjoy the super crunchy spider roll. I thought I had taken more fotos but I guess I was stuffing my face and forgot.

The Best!!! Our favorite of all sushi restaurants..!!! The girls are the absolute best!!! The Crazy Monkey is the Best roll in All the Land!!! Ha!!! They custom make rolls and hand rolls to your liking! We do a sashimi Hamachi appetizer with jalapeño and avocado! They make me an Eel, Scallop and Hamachi handroll!!! Very buttery, very tasty!!!

This place is good. We went on a Sunday afternoon and expected it to be over crowded and it wasnt at all. We walked in and waited to be seated, there was only one waitress. We were seated across the sushi area which was a nice secluded area. Once we ordered the food came rolling out fast! I ordered the chicken Katsu bento box with extra California rolls and my wife ordered 2 Kapa maki rolls and the California special (deep fried). Our meals came with salad which was very well plated and miso soup. The waitress had some issues with another customers food so once that happened it kind of took forever for us to get service or the check which was towards the end of our meal which is why I took 1 star away due to one waiter, she was fine but I thought she could use an extra hand. They serve saki and other beers and beverages as well. If your looking for some good sushi in Tracy come here. Food is average priced for Japanese

First time at this restaraunt. Got seated right away. The service was fast. Gracious people great atmosphere. But the food came out. No flavor watery rice. Too huge for a single bite. Everything fell out while I tried taking my first bite. Rice was too wet and thick had a hard time swallowing and trying to eat my first bite. I paid for my meal and took the rest home because I felt bad on not trying to insult the cook. But I myself felt insulted by no one checking up on us and asking how were doing. Long story short I fed the rest to my dogs.

Clean and everyone was friendly.Food was just okay.Ordered a couple of things to try out since this was our first time there.Gyozas were oily and slimy. Ton katsu was a bit dry but the batter was good, came with miso (which was really good), some salad (chunks of iceberg drizzled in a tasty sauce but then a small clump of carrots) and tasty rice. Also ordered 3 rolls, the Houston, Caterpillar, and Millennium. The rice was really sweet, never had that before, wonder if its just the way they make it here. The caterpillar roll only had 1 slice of avocado on it? Kinda underwhelming but prices are fairly cheap so I guess you pay for what you get.

As always, an awesome experience. The staff has a wonderful reputation of making you feel like family. Food is delicious. They have also been changing up / expanding there menu recently, so feel free to ask what items havent made it on the physical menu yet.

My family and I come here to eat often. We live 30 minutes away and continue to travel here specially for their customer service and amazing food. I would highly recommend the princess roll and crazy monkey roll. We don’t go anywhere else for sushi.

Stopped in for dinner on the way home from Yosemite, impressed by the freshness of the fish. Had a few rolls, was disappointed not to see futomaki on their menu but the Black Dragon roll was very tasty. About half the tables were occupied, so service was very slow. Waitress was pleasant but never looked around as she brought food out for other diners during the meal. No refill on water, and then had to ask for my check and later after she was serving tables but didnt pick up the folio I walked it over to the register.Overall a good experience and good sushi, hope they continue to do well.

Got some takeout here tonight and it was delicious. Rainbow roll was vibrant and fresh. Special California is a must. Average $10 per roll is very affordable for their outstanding quality. Fast, friendly service to finish it off.Will definitely come back. Thanks!

Came here for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Its small but nice and clean. Wasnt too busy. Really wanted to give 5 stars but I was a little disappointed in the special House roll. It was good! However, for $19, I expected more. It seemed like any original roll on the menu just smothered in sauce. Also, waitress only checked in once and got no refills lol she was kind tho.

Weve been coming here for about a year now, tried pretty much every sushi spot in town mostly because this spot doesnt open on Tuesdays and always ended up feeling likewe shoulda just waited to the next day. The food here is always consistently fresh, pretty and delicious. Service is fast and friendly and prices are reasonable. Last but not least location is convenient with plenty of parking. Hands down the BEST Sushi restaurant in town.

Lion king roll with teriyaki source - this is so weird, did they run of source and simply used teriyaki source instead? Rice in the Entrees were fully cooked. Chef and waitress are all Vietnamese. How can they claim offering authentic Japanese food? High $70 with one lion king roll, and 2 entrees(Beef teriyaki and Salmon Teriyaki), didnt expected to be on pricier than really authentic sushi houses in Fremont.

Rolls were good, several different choices. Couple complaints, one, a lot of the rolls had something fried and two, if listed as spicy, we found that they were not spicy at all. Fish appeared to be of good quality for prices. Staff was friendly.

Matsuyama is ran by the nicest people and the sushi is wonderful. I’ve been going once a week for a couple of months and one time my car battery died after I had placed a takeout order through them. When I called them back to tell them I didn’t know when/if I was going to pick up my order, they actually delivered the food to my home for just a few extra dollars. Needless to say, the service is near perfect. As for the food, I highly recommend the Happy Sushi and the Spiderman Roll. :)

I have been going here for years and love it just as much as the first time I went. There fish is always fresh and they are incredibly nice. I literally turn down going to other places for sushi. Ive probably been to 20+ places in my life and these guys are still my go to!

We were traveling through the area and wanted sushi. We picked this place and we are so glad that we did! We tried the crazy monkey, tropical, and tempura roll and they were all amazing. Thier sauces on the rolls are very good. And customer service was excellent.

I am a regular here and have been getting my sushi here during the pandemic. They do a very good job at ordering and picking up orders and the food is pretty good. The pricing is also fair and I am yet to have a bad experience here.

By far the worst customer service. Came in to pick up order. Server was busy so i sat down and waited. Once i got to waiting for over 30 minutes i tried to ask the lady serving how much longer and she refused to even look at me. When i approached the counter asking why it was now close to an hour of waiting and she was being rude by not answering a simple question. I was told i was the rude one and should leave. Very disrespectful and never been treated that bad anywhere else.

Excellent food! I came and ordered food to go and they made it fast and delicious. Even thru these tough times of this COVID virus, I was able to sit and enjoy a beer while I waited for my order. It was greatly appreciated! I would definitely recommend the Spicy Tako Sashimi for an appetizer and the Samurai Roll on the Special Sushi Menu Page.

Updated as of April 18, 2021: called in to order 1 hour ago, informing the to-go would ready within 30 mins but after arrival, still needed to wait for 15 mins!!! The service is terrible!!!The food is good but today, some of fish is not refresh!!! We have been coming for to-go during COVID!My old comments as of July 2020: Fresh sashimi, delicious rolls, tasty teriyaki chicken & salmon!!!Due to COVID-19, the restaurant is only open for take-out. Was looking for a new sushi place to be my regular and tried it out. Usually, I go to Mikasa but lately they have started to go down hill. Higher prices, smaller /less consistent rolls, and worse service.Went here and think it may be our new go to. Matsuyamas miso soup is Amazing. So good, so much flavor. Was surprised to be so impressed by something thats not usually given much thought. I would probably go back just for the miso soup alone, even if the sushi sucked, but it didnt. The sushi was good too. We ordered like 5 rolls and shared as a table and there wasnt a roll that I did not like. The kids were happy, we were happy, and service was good.Side note:I wouldnt say the sushi was as good as Mikasa used to be, before they started getting worse and worse, but it was still good. Better than other sushi places in town. Would recommend.

The restaurant is small but cozy and the service is fast, attentive, and friendly. The food is decent and the portions are fair. The sashimi is a bit small but the sushi is tasty. The bento box is more of a deconstructive bento. It doesnt actually come in a bento box, instead it comes out one by one on plates. The vibe is very casual.

3.5 stars. Service was friendly and the food came out fast (though it was before the dinner rush so there wasnt too many people inside). I honestly dont remember what roll I ordered.. not even the ingredients. Which leads me to think that it was so-so. Not bad, but not memorable..What I do remember is my sisters and her friends order of tempura veggies and shrimp, and teriyaki chicken. I tried some of the tempura, and it was fried well and not too greasy. Her friend enjoyed the chicken. We also ordered garlic edamame and inari. The inari had a good soy bean-to-rice ratio. And the garlic edamame is delicious! Its a must-have appetizer.The restaurant is small, though it seems turnaround is quick. Theres only two sushi places on the south side of Tracy, so Matsuyama can gain a large clientele.I would like to come back with my family and order some rolls and entrees.

I moved to Tracy a few months ago from the East Bay. My sweetheart is a CV girl and says Im an East Bay snob when it comes to food places. I have to say Matsuyama is by far, one of the best restaurants I have been to. Their suchi is excellent and I would compare it to higher caliber suchi places in the East Bay and SF. The staff is always friendly and courteous and Ive yet to be dissapointed. Highly recommended!

Happy they opened up in Tracy. Dont have to drive to Stockton or Lodi. My favorite is the Chirashi. Their bento boxes are good but portions are smaller but then again so are the prices. Usually come here if Misaka is super busy. Good service each time Ive been here.
