The restaurant is casual and comfy. It is also a quiet venue to enjoy lunch. Service is attentive and friendly.Eats: Eggplants with sautéed vegetables and steamed jasmine rice for me. Yellow curry chicken with brown rice for my sister. Beverages: butterfly lemon iced tea and lychee tea.Food was delicious. I recommend the butterfly lemon iced tea. The tea is made with butterfly pea flower, which is supposed to be blue in color. Instead the tea looks similar to Jamaica agua fresca (made with hibiscus flower). It is not overly sweet and quite refreshing.Return visit to have the eggplants again but with an increase level of spiciness. Mild was just too mild, and I need to kick it up another notch to medium.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. I celebrated my birthday! The crab fried rice and crispy tofu. Absolutely 💯 delicious 😋! Wonderful ice cream for dessert! And the staff was friendly and professional! I ❤️ this place. A special gem in Alameda! Its very affordable for delicious food 😋

May Thai is my favorite Thai place on the island! My favorites include the papaya salad, pad see ew, trout and taro puffs. Ingredients are always fresh and this is one of few Thai restaurants that actually offer “Thai spicy” and the dishes are legit spicy. Phi Phi (the owner) is a delight and all the staff I’ve met are super helpful.

May Thai Kitchen is a great spot for lunch when visiting the island. We stopped by on a Monday afternoon and were greeted and seated immediately.The staff was extremely polite and attentive. We decided on their crispy rice salad and tofu pad see ew. Both dishes came out within minutes. The crispy rice salad was a nice change from our regular order of papaya salad. Combining the crispy rice with the leaves of lettuce made for a nice contrast in textures. The salad was good, but I wish there was some kind of sauce we could have drizzled over the crispy rice to make it less dry.Their pad see ew was incredible. The noodles were cooked perfectly with a nice chewiness.Overall, a very good experience. We will definitely return.

Five Stars all around! The Penang beef curry was spicy and flavorful. It was some of the best I have ever had. Also, the staff was personable, and attentive. And the owner, Phi phi, even came out and greeted us personally, and even sang happy birthday for a guest at table next to us. I can’t wait to go back. It’s a new favorite.

I needed a quick bite on my way out of Alameda. Since pad thai takes about a minute to cook, it seemed like an easy choice.I waited for a full hour before my food came out. I ordered medium spicy (1 on a 0-3 scale). It was quite hot - edible, but borderline too spicy. It was also quite sweet.Apparently they charge $3 extra for chicken.Definitely not the best Thai experience Ive had in The Bay.

Glad we happened upon this place. As others have mentioned, the recipes veer on the sweeter side. I dont mind it, though I do prefer my pad kee mao more spicy and savory. The seafood tom yum soup had a perfect sweet/spicy taste. The wontons had a unique corn+taro mix Id never seen; very with it.My only criticism is that they use scented candles throughout. It was hard at times to savor the food when a sudden synthetic smell hit the palette. This includes the restroom where theres a strong potpourri and scented hand soap. I left with a full belly, but smelling like a bed bath and beyond.

Had a wonderful time here for my birthday dinner over the weekend and could not recommend May Thai enough! The food is phenomenal (the pad see ew and spicy eggplant were standouts) but honestly, everything we ordered was good, and this is coming from someone who eats a lot of Thai food. The staff is so incredibly kind and warm. They came out with a surprise ice cream a fried bread (and unexpected combination that paired really well together) with hand written happy birthday message and sang happy birthday. Other restaurant patrons also joined in. Thank you for helping me create such a positive and memorable birthday evening :)

Visited this Thai restaurant for the first time and it is amazing! I got their Green Salad Rolls which was the perfect dish in this summer heat, freshly made and delicious especially with the peanut sauce. The employees were delightful and have good customer service, the ambiance is also nice. Definitely come visit this place when you have the chance!

What a wonderful find! me and my friend ate here last night and we are so happy we have our new favorite place. The atmosphere is serene and warm. The food is beyond delicious, they have quite the selection and you are able to choose your type of protein in every dish, which I appreciate. The crew who runs the night are absolutely the best Ive ever seen. Their custumer service was outstanding and genuinely kind. I will make sure to send all my friends here and anyone who will listen. This place is stunning. The food and the staff are delightful. The accommodations are modest but light and airy. I really cant say enough about the food. The sauces were perfectly balanced and when I asked for spicy, it was served spicy. The chef even came to make sure that I was satisfied.Anyone here complaining of wait times doesnt know what theyre asking for and anyone who tells you this isnt good Thai food hasnt been there.

This place was soooo good! I went with my family we were a party of 6 and they were able to sit us right away and were so kind and attentive even though they were busy on a Saturday night! I frequent this restaurant for dine-in and take out and it is the best Thai restaurant in Alameda. The servers are so kind, efficient, and accommodating of any special requests. The restaurant itself is super cute and very clean. The food is so fresh- its sensational w my personal faves: crab fried rice, green curry, pumpkin curry, pad Thai, and the spicy eggplant. Their to-go orders are packaged so well, that even after a long commute home everything arrives as it should, sauces in place, warm, and simply delicious.

Wow! Great newer Thai restaurant in Alameda. The past few years, there have been quite a few Thai restaurants, but this one stands out in my opinion. The food is very authentic, the service is amazing, and atmosphere is great for families or pretty much any occasion.I was blown away by the Pad See Ew and the Pumpkin Curry, but all the food I tried was very flavorful, on the sweeter side which is what Thai food in Thailand tends to be, and beautifully prepared/plated.Will definitely be going back in the near future!

Excellent service, excellent food! We had a great dinner for 4. Some highlights include the coconut lemongrass soup (comes in a large hot pot and perfect for sharing), massaman curry (comes with a big tender chicken leg in the dish), and spicy eggplant! Our servers were very attentive and accommodating, and altogether it made for a very tasty evening! Prices are extremely reasonable, and we couldn’t believe how low our check especially given the large portions. Will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely delicious Thai food! Seems quite authentic by my travels. The decor is spartan, which is fine by me as the food is top notch! Good service, too!One word of caution, the level of spice is authentic, too, which means it runs spicy hot! Fortunately they let you tailor the amount of spice. I genuinely love and am very used to spicy hot food from around the world, but their medium is about all I can handle. Thai Hot is their maximum hotness level which I cant even imagine; best wishes for the lining of your gut if you order that!

Get something with the wide noodles!! Either the Pad Kee Mao or Pad See Ew, they have the best wide rice noodles Ive had anywhere, they are so soft and fresh!! The Pad Thai is also delicious and for appetizers, we love their Roti with Yellow Curry (the roti is deliciously flaky and delicate on the outside and soft on the inside) or Taro Puffs (slightly sweet, creamy filling and melt-in-your-mouth tender pastry).Beyond the food being delicious, the service is excellent! Everyone in here is so kind and attentive. Weve eaten here a number of times, and if its not too busy, the chef has even come out to check and make sure we were happy with the food!Such a great place, one of my wife and my favorite restaurants, hands down. We try to come up with excuses to run errands in the area to come eat here from the North Bay!!

Not sure why we hadnt tried this place before but it came up on DoorDash and decided to try some different Thai on the island. Had the Red Curry with vegetables and it was delicious. Loved that there were a lot of veggies. I ordered extra rice thinking it wasnt included but it was. My husband has the Pad See Ew and hes pretty picky about it but he also thought it was great. We had it delivered but this makes me want to go in for a meal.

Excellent Thai restaurant. I was a bit skeptical at first as it was a little empty (compared to other restaurants in the area), but food and service were exceptional. We ordered pretty standard dishes - a papaya salad, a noodle dish, a curry, and a veggie/seafood dish. All were very, very good, a notable step up from typical Thai restaurants, and service was warm yet unobtrusive. Portions were generous and prices reasonable. Heartily recommended!

As a Thai, I’m very picky when it comes to Thai foods. I try this place cause it’s very closed to my residence. The taste is good (not 100% authentic). It’s a new restaurant; it’s clean and cozy. I have been coming to May Thai since they opened and the food has been consistently flavorful and delicious. I have been to Thailand and few Thai restaurants in the US seem to nail the complex flavors of the dishes I tried there. May Thai has gone out of there way to bring those flavors to Alameda. I feel fortunate to be able to have this culinary experience in my backyard. Personal favorites are the Coconut soup, Praram, and Pad Krakow.
