2023-11-26 21:13:19More napkins please! Wow. We live in Sunnyvale and have been wanting to try Mayan Kitchen for a couple of months now. Today was it. We met the lovely Katie (presumably a business partner) who gave us some insight into the Mayan Culture and Cuisine. We decided to indulge with 2 Pan Fried Crispy tacos each, (1 chicken and 1 pork), the 3 dip and chip platter, one Beef Empanada and 1 each, Soft chick and pork tacos. Well, well, well, the food was exquisite. Spices, herbs and flavors all well balanced with a bit of earthiness. If you are in to hot sauce - you need to ask, but be careful, even the mildest out of three will burn a hole through the tablecloth. We were so impressed, we actually ordered a Chicken lunch to go! When we got home, we tasted a bit of everything in the to go container. Delicious once again. We are now planning a pre-Christmas lunch with family and friends. Thank you Katie and Mayan Kitchen for opening here in Sunnyvale. We look forward to being loyal patrons.

2023-07-09 01:46:53We were really looking forward to this place!!Staff was really nice and they have a wide variety of mayan dishes. We ordered the chips with salsa, chips with queso, vegan calamari, beef empanadas, three types of tacos: steak, churrasco blue corn, and salmon. We really liked the chips and dips, chips were nice and crispy the dips were full of flavor.Unfortunately the dishes after that were slightly disappointing, the beef in the tacos were slightly overcooked and underseasoned. Same with the beef empanadas. This was a good experience, but i’m not sure we’ll be coming back here

2023-07-20 19:43:26Apparently there are not many Mayan restaurants at all. The owner is very involved and helped worry seating and waiting. All dishes are home made. Many were quite good. Outdoor and indoor seating. Inside gets loud if there are a lot of people. Enjoyed outdoor seating but if there is a band playing, it is loud for talking.

2023-06-03 07:33:43Title: A Marvelous Mayan Culinary Experience in Downtown SunnyvaleReview: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mayan Kitchen, nestled in the vibrant heart of Sunnyvale. This charming locale is surrounded by a lively outdoor street scene, where one can revel in the festive ambiance of numerous bars, wine bars, and other restaurants that offer delightful outdoor seating. From the moment we stepped in, we were met with an exceptional level of service. The hostess and servers truly set the standard high with their efficiency, swift service, and most importantly, their warm and friendly demeanor. Their hospitality left a memorable impression and contributed significantly to our overall dining experience. Our gastronomical journey at the Mayan Kitchen was truly impressive. The dishes we savored were not just good, they were outstanding. Each dish had its unique twist and showcased a tantalizing blend of flavors that left us craving for more.We started with the Vegan Bun Bao, a dish that deserves a solid 5/5 for its innovative take on vegan cuisine. The Eggplant Roll followed next, which was equally delightful and earned a strong 4.5/5. The Mayan Hot Chocolate, a signature drink, was a rich and indulgent treat, albeit a tad sweet for our palates, and wed rate it at a 4/5. Last but certainly not least, the Shakshuka was an absolute hit, a true 5/5, with its warm and hearty flavors leaving a lasting impression.Mayan Kitchen offers a vibrant atmosphere, top-notch service, and a superb menu with ample vegan choices. Standouts include the Vegan Bun Bao, Eggplant Roll, and the unforgettable Vegan Plantain Salbute. Commendable staff attentiveness, evidenced by prompt return of forgotten keys. A must-visit gem in downtown Sunnyvale. In conclusion, Mayan Kitchen offers a wonderful blend of a festive atmosphere, stellar service, and a culinary experience thats simply hard to resist. Whether youre a local or just passing through Sunnyvale, this restaurant is a must-visit. Give it a go, and youll likely find yourself recommending it to others, just as I am doing now!

2023-07-28 06:03:32Food, service, atmosphere…everything was amazing. 5/5 stars. Will definitely go back again. A little on the pricier side, but it’s worth it. I got the vegan cheesecake. It was pretty sweet but very good! If you haven’t been yet, check this place out!

2023-10-01 02:49:34Unique flavors and really great food. Chicken and pork tacos had flavors that you just don’t get anywhere else. This is not Mexican food, but Mayan, and the distinctive flavors are really a treat. The signature Cochinita Pibil pork tacos were so moist and flavorful. Many unique Vegan options, as well. Highly recommend.

2023-01-29 19:40:25Finally got a chance to eat here, and I was not disappointed. I had to wait a bit to get a table, but that is a good sign that the meal and eating experience will be worth it, and it was. The vegan options are on the regular menu, but they have a vegan only menu, which the server was nice enough to bring me after I had asked about a few of the vegan options. I had the Vegan Calamari, the Vegan Bao Bun, and a slice of Vegan Cheesecake. All good portions sizes and each one was very filling. They provide water for you to drink, and have other options, but I only had the water on this visit. Overall a great experience, and I cant wait to visit again to try more of their vegan menu. But seriously, you should try the cheesecake.

2022-11-22 05:51:37An excellent local eatery. Excellent food and service. Food was flavorful and rich without being too heavy.Coming here, we were first greeted by welcoming and attentive hosts. They offered us a window seat so that we could watch our bikes. Throughout our meal, they were attentive and ready but not overbearing. I think this is a Hallmark of great service. The food was also prepared in the proper order and with great timeliness. As for the quality of the food, everything was top-notch. Mayan food will remind you a lot of Mexican, but it has its own flavors and takes that do set it apart. Nonetheless, the quality was there and I really enjoyed every item. There was a flavorful lightness to the food that left me happy and not feeling heavy.10/10 recommend and I will be coming back.

2023-03-24 00:24:35This was an amazing culinary experience! This is the first time I had tried Mayan food and Mayan Kitchen far exceeded my expectations! The food was so delicious and it didnt seem heavy. Mayan cuisine uses clay pot cooking (as opposed to frying) and that left me feeling full but not too full. As you can see from the pictures, I ordered a lot.
