This is a must visit restaurant for its authenticity. The owners here are so friendly and welcoming, the only reason I give 4 for food is because it was not as per our expectations. The service is excellent. We ordered Mayura Special Chicken Biryani which was really great and unique in its taste. Also Lamb Korma was average and didn’t feel great as expected. Overall a fantastic experience!

Im no expert on Indian cuisine, but I can tell you the food at this place is delicious. You get a lot of food for the price, and it was so much that I couldnt finish it. The staff is also friendly, which makes the experience even better. To put it plainly, its a great place for good food.

I dont write reviews very often but Mayura was one of the best Indian food experiences Ive had in the US. The food was excellent and the wait staff were attentive and joyful. The owner was a ray of sunshine and made us feel as though we were at home having a meal with family. Could not recommend this place enough!

I’m not sure how we found this restaurant, but I’m so grateful that we did! The food came out quick, piping hot and fresh. Everything was perfectly spiced, and we’re appreciative to have been fed so well. My husband and I split the thali and the lunch combo and we absolutely could not finish all that food and packed a to go bagThe aunty that serves the food makes you feel like you’re eating with family. We wish we lived closer, so that we could eat here all the time.

After arriving in California, we headed towards Santa Monica Pier. Feeling hungry, we looked for a nearby restaurant to have lunch. Our search led us to Mayura Indian Restaurant, which had excellent ratings.My friends and I chose to have lunch at Mayura Indian Restaurant, which conveniently offers nearby parking. Upon arrival, a friendly server greeted us and escorted us to our table.We were provided with menus and water by the server. Upon perusing the options, we opted to order the Onion Pakora and Non Vegetarian Lunch Thali. The atmosphere was pleasant, with the restaurant adorned with decorations featuring the Indian God Ganesh.Our server promptly brought us Onion Pakora to start our lunch. The pakoras were hot and delicious, providing a great beginning to our meal. Shortly after, we received our Non-Vegetarian Thali Special. The chicken was especially tasty and enjoyable, as were the Chole and Dal included in the Thali.We placed an order for additional Naan, but unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Despite finishing our entire thali, we were still left without our Naan. This experience was quite frustrating and disappointing for us.Everything was good except for the Naan in the last service.

This visit was my 3rd time back at Mayura and they only impress me more and more. My family and I ordered the dinner special with lamb korma and chicken tikka masala and the Thali with chicken. Food was amazing and the servings are great. There is true value here with what they provide in food and customer service. This establishment is great for Indian food. We also always end our dinner with chai which i am sipping as i write this review.

My friend and I came for lunch, drawn by the reputation of Indian cuisine being popular in Culver City. We wanted to explore the local food scene, and it turns out this restaurant is where all the best spots are. We ordered their lunch specials to sample a variety of dishes, and the prices were fair. It’s a busy restaurant near Culver City, I think it’s Kerela style, the southern state of India, food. They were out of thali so couldn’t try it, but their kerela parotta was the freshest I’ve tasted so far, be it in SF Bay Area or LA. the curries were ok, in my opinion, it’s very fresh but flavor profile from blend of spices is missing or is weak but generally it’s good quality and taste satisfying food.

It’s a pretty authentic Indian restaurant, and I liked the Appam with Chicken curry that had. The Dahi vada was average.The ambience is typical of an Indian restaurant. Parking can be an issue as it’s a very small parking complex, but you can park nearby and walk!

Came to this place while visiting LA. The reviews are a bit misleading. This is an OK place, themed in late 90s or early 2000s with older decor. The food is probably OK to eat once but absolutely not worth a second visit. Waiters lack hygine, restrooms are filthy.Orderd Idli, dosa, lunch special with curries. Only the dosa was better. Idli was made wirh too fine batter and felt a but rubbery/ chewy. Curries were basted in masala pastes and not authentic.

You’ll find amazing food here! It’s a family owned place & on our way out we met the owner who is a lovely elder who wears a beautiful bindi, & she thanked us for our patronage. The authentic kindness & delicious food is why I rate 5 stars. I came to eat. It’s somewhat a casual diner feel when you sit down. Great local find! The restaurant was poppin at 8pm on a Wednesday. We were sat immediately, and the servers were very attentive to take our order. The owner also came over to give us recommendations and checked in on us later as she was making the rounds. The food came out pretty quick, and big portions. Everything tasted good and felt authentic. The one main complaint was that the garlic naan was dry.We’d still come back next time we’re craving Indian food! Love to see it thriving with every table taken :)

I have visited this place every time I was in LA and this time was no different! Their food is authentic, just like home made sadhya, true to Kerala flavours! Its always a treat to those away from home and is the best solution if you want to satisfy your cravings for true Kerala food. The owners are also worth mentioning. Theyre always so polite and friendly, youd feel at home right away😄The food smelled and tasted so good, I could barely resist to get some good photos! The Onam sadya was amazing. The service at this restaurant is always phenomenal. The buffet had all the sadya specials ranging from pumpkin curry (eriserry), onion curry (ulli theeyal), several dry snacks, steamed flat bread (appam), coconut based curries (such as olan), desserts, dals and several other south Indian curries. The buffet also featured buttermilk and other specialty items unique to the sadya. Parking is limited but we got there close to opening time. Certainly a good South Indian gastronomy experience that is unique to Mayura. Highly recommend.

My absolute favorite place to eat! Feels like home when I come! So friendly. Food is so good! Soo good! I am very passionate about food, and have never had food so good! I get the Chicken Korma with Chapati!! My better half loves chicken Vindaloo with Naan bread! Other dishes I really like so far is the chicken Biriyani and the spinach Marsala dosa! If you are with a group you HAVE to try the spinach Marsala dosa!! Such a treat!! Rachel also gets the mango lassi and loves it with her dish! This is an excellent Indian restaurant! The service on a Wednesday evening was very fast and the staff had just the right balance of checking in on you. I tried the paneer butter masala which was tangy and smooth and flavored well! The Mysore dosa was a bit spicy, but not too spicy for people who are used to eating spicy foods. I want to begin by saying i don’t give out bad reviews, as someone who’s worked in the food industry for a long time i always give places/people the benefit of the doubt.the service here is THE WORSE service i’ve ever had in any place restaurant or not. walked in not greeted, whatever not a problem. our waiter comes, he’s mumbling can’t hear him at all, whatever not a problem. what was a problem was that when i would ask for clarification over something he said he immediately caught an attitude. i asked for ONE vegetarian thali, he pointed at the menu and said something like,”this or that?” put he wasn’t directly pointing at specific things so i told him i was sorry i was a bit confused as to what he was referring to. he straight up smacks the menu with his pen and saying,”did you want this or that?!” which he was referring to what side or bread. even after this altercation i just gave him the benefit of the doubt since maybe it was my fault i didn’t hear correctly (obviously wasn’t since he was just mumbling and smacking the menu with his pen)food came pretty quick but he brought TWO vegetarian thalis instead of ONE. obviously i didn’t want to start touching because i immediately knew this was a mistake. i told him that i only ordered one. this is where i immediately just wanted to leave. this man straight up starts raising his voice at me saying,”No you ordered TWO!” and i just kept saying i’m sorry it was probably just a misunderstanding but i just ordered one. i shouldn’t have even been apologizing but whatever. he continues trying to argue with me about this for a minute. just going back and forth telling me i’m lying and that he asked me multiple times when he never did at all. the only thing he asked me about more than once was about what bread side i wanted. after his little tantrum he just rolls his eyes at me and let’s out the loudest sigh and starts talking to his coworker about me. just horrible service. made me just want to leave. my hunger disappeared but i didn’t want to cause him even more “trouble”.now the food is subpar, really no taste, the mango lassi is good though. rice isn’t even basmati rice. sambar very plain.

I have been going here since I was born, and Il tell you, this place is exactly what a restaurant should be! I always believe that customer service is the most important part of a business. The owners of Mayura have such humble and generous hearts; they always make it their mission to care for their customers and show compassion to everyone that walks through their doors. I am probably late to visit this place on my food journey in LA but better late than never!I was very excited to try the food here since its a landmark restaurant in LA .We ordered special rava masala dosa, chicken chettinad, special chicken curry, appam, parotta, garlic naan and mango lassi .Masala dosa was amazing, right crisp and flavorful authentic chutneys .Chicken chettinad and curry were quite amazing but the only drawback was that it served at room temperature which is not very typical for these types of dishes and didnt bring out the flavours quite right .Appam is truly kerala style authentic.Loved the garlic naan as well, fresh and right amount of garlic.Mango lassi is just mind blowing! It is probably the thing that is going to bring me back here .The owner is very friendly and greeted us well. The potato masala paired perfectly with the flavorful coconut chutney and spicy and punchy sambar. Great service and food. This place has a lot of clout for a reason. I haven’t eaten Indian food in quite a while and this really hit the spot. The chicken tikka was described by the server as being special. I totally agree. Perfectly balance of creamy, sweet, and savory. The naan was awesome and so were the samosas. Also the price was great for the amount of food you get. I got the dinner combo. It’s $18 and I left insanely full without even eaten a little more than half. The mango lassi was a bit watery but there was a good amount. The thali comes in both a vegetarian or non-vegetarian option (fish or chicken) but I actually think ordering a dish would be better. The thali did come with a generous amount of food and rice (and even had a cut banana on top of kheer) but I didn’t love any of the curries or soup.Credit cards accepted. I wasn’t planning on writing a review, but after I requested the check without finishing my food they asked me to write one. I got the impression they want to know about my experience, so here goes.The food was fine and the service was attentive and fast, but unfortunately some of the staff were coughing, possibly sick, which made me uncomfortable. There also was a very strong rose-scented diffuser running that was overwhelmingly strong. Maybe the diffuser was causing the coughs? My clothes and hair smelled strongly of it after being in the restaurant for only 30 minutes. I suspect these issues may be one-offs, but unfortunately do to my sensitivity to such issues I don’t think I’ll come back.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant because of the great reviews and I had a hankering for Kerala fish curry.First with the good points. It was open on Thanksgiving and almost empty. We were seated immediately and our waiter was very pleasant. The restaurant walls are adorned with pictures of dignitaries.The appetizer, Medhu Vada was served hot with Sambhar and coconut chutney. I am not used to crispy thin Medhu vadas but I liked this version. The masala chai was hot and went well with the Medhu Vada.We had ordered Masala Dosa and Kerala Fish curry with Aapams. We had specifically asked for the masala dosa to be spicy.While waiting for the main course, we were exposed to a barrage of loud phone conversations by the hostess. For about 15 mins she was screaming at the top of her lungs taking phone orders. So low points for ambiance.The dosa came out first. It was almost at room temp with a bland potato filling and served with an equally lukewarm Sambhar. Not sure how we got from nice hot appetizers to a limp, lukewarm and bland masala dosa. The Apaams were also at room temp and had stuck together. The fish curry was made with pink salmon and the curry part literally was like turmeric had been added to water and roasted curry leaves and it had a bitter taste to boot. After a couple of tries ( hoping that I would get used to the taste), I gave up. I asked the waiter for some coconut milk to go with the Aapams. What came to the table was warm coconut milk from a can. I could taste the can! There was no cardamom or jaggery in the milk. I gave up around this time and ate my Aapams with cold left over Sambhar from the Masala dosas.My Aunt is from Kerala and so my tastebuds have experienced authentic food preparations from Kerala both home cooked and in restaurants anround her hometown. Our food definitely was not anywhere in the vicinity of authentic Kerala cuisine. I would have given it four stars if the food was actually served hot. Even if the food does not taste good, it should at-least be served hot.When the hostess came around to ask how we were doing, I pointed to the almost untouched fish curry and responded simply that I did not like it. I reassured her that I would pay for it. She loudly said, “ how is it that you don’t like it? Everybody else likes it…”and so on and so forth. I cut her off, stood my ground and calmly informed her that I was not “everybody” and that I did not care for the fish curry. I usually succumb and become overly apologetic in these situations, but this time stood my ground. Perhaps I was expecting something like, “I am sorry that you did not like our popular fish curry. Is there something else that we could get you?”. Instead I was chastised for not liking the subpar curry.So overall 3 stars for a polite waiter, hot appetizers with hot tea and yummy gulab jamun.P.S - I am not expecting any sort of refund or a sermon. This was an unbelievable restaurant! I am hard to please when it comes to Indian food, and this exceeded al my expectations! It was extremely delicious, and the staff were so friendly from start to finish. We started our meal with idli, vada, sambar, and chutney. The idli was extremely thick and chewy/glutinous. Paired with the flavorful chutney, it was awesome. The vada was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and held its integrity well when dunked in the spicy, tangy sambar. Paired with their extremely flaky, stretchy, and all around tasty paratha, it was the perfect match.We also had a vegetable korma which was as expected - delicious and delightful.The last main dish we had was their Kerala specialities - their chicken curry, and their appam. Their appam is unlike anything I have ever had before. Stretchy, chewy, and a fantastic light taste that on its own would be a treat. With the unbelievably tender chicken and saucy curry, there are few things in life that may taste better. Trust me, you’ll want MANY appams. At least 2-3 per person.We finally ended with their payasam, which is rice boiled in milk, sugar, and condensed milk. It is then fortified with raisins and toasted cashews. While I would liked more cashews and raisins as well as a thicker, more glutinous consistency, the flavor was not missing at all. Served hot, it was a delight to end our meal on that note. The lady who owned the place came out to talk to the guests and was a delight to speak with during our meal. 100% recommend this place, which is probably the best place you will find for delicious South Indian food.

They serve in good quantities. My friends ordered veg thali and uttapam and they liked their food. Many celebrities have visited this restaurant during their visit to LA. Yummy food in Culver city. Mayura has always been our family favorite. They added outdoor seating as well. Parking is a bit tough to find, but that’s what it is in Los Angeles right.My kid forgot my phone on the table as we headed to the car, the waiter approached us just outside the restaurant and gave it back. Our LA trip this time was spiced up deliciously by Mayura Restaurant. Though the chicken biryani had the best rating we thought we were compromising when we chose shrimp. But, that was an awesome surprise. We also tried the Dosa, Appam, Poori and Chicken 65. This is a must visit eat out in LA if you are an ardent fan of authentic Kerala cuisine.

I wonder how come this restaurant has such high ratings. Terrible food, terrible service. Vegetable biryani was a disaster. Even Mysore Masala Dosa came without all the Chutneys and we had to explain to them that it was missing a chutney. Not going to this restaurant again.

Hands down the most authentic Kerala food we have tasted! We went on 2 occasions for dinner and ordered veg & non-veg thalis, porotta/chicken curry, paper dosa, goat curry. Each and every dish tasted yummy. The Kerala fish curry was amazing. The most satisfying dinner experience. Parking is limited.during the 2nd visit we had a misunderstanding between roti and chapati. The server gave us a rude & snarky comment which should have never happened. The restaurant literally has A Customer is the most important visitor on our premises quote from Mahatma Gandhi displayed in the restaurant.

Food is good. Parking is very tight. Very few places to park. You need to park on street if available. Food tastes good and authentic but overall experience was not good. It was too crowded on 25th Dec. Place was packed, buffet was not being replenished in time, no place to stand in the line for buffet, no sugar available for tea which we got complimentary with buffet, very highly priced for the experience which I got. Chicken was not good. Overall - taste is good but too costly, could have been better if crowd was managed properly.

My family and I love this place so much that my favorite aunt got us a gift certificate! This made it possible for us to try many different dishes. We recently fell in love with the fish curry with appam. Masala dosas are wonderful and don’t forget uppam with veggies. They have many gluten free versions at no extra charge! This is a south Indian restaurant! The region is Kerala. Order the paper Dosa a very thin crepe crispy and fried in butter (ghee) served with coconut chutney. From the outside of the building, you wouldnt expect the quality of food they are serving! Inside the small shopping center is a South Indian restaurant serving authentic Keralan delicacies. We started with a sambar vada, a lentil donut with a savory vegetable soup... we were huge fans! Our table ordered a fish thali(a dish with various regional flavors), appam with chicken curry, and a lunch special. We all left very satisfied!A BIG PLUS: The menus are gluten-sensitive friendly! They also clearly label nuts, dairy, vegan, and spicy! As someone who is less familiar with the cuisine and gluten-sensitive, this was a win!

The customer service here is horrible. Getting a glass of water takes 20 minutes after asking the manager directly because they are apparently out of utensils. We spoke to the owner but she was extremely rude and unapologetic. Her reply was we are young and should behave ourselves.I dont even want to talk about the servers who were extremely unprofessional and least interested in doing their jobs.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time we dropped by over 10-12 years. Anytime we need our Kerala fix.Authentic and delicious Kerala food. With the added bonus of getting an OnamSadya thali (not available year round). Bliss! We got the appam and red fish curry (good combo). The fish curry was set your mouth on fire spicy but sooo good too. We also got beef fry and Porotta (we are self respecting mallus after all 😀) - both were 👌🏽. Banana fry (pazhampori) was also yum. I was pleasantly surprised by the bustling atmosphere on a Tuesday evening. Our wait for a table was only about 5 minutes, which was quite acceptable, as we found delight in perusing the snapshots of renowned personalities who had graced the restaurant. The presence of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalams message on a handkerchief particularly caught our attention. Our order comprised a flavorsome masala dosa, along with appam paired with vegetable korma. To quench our thirst, we chose a refreshing fresh lime soda and a rose smoothie. While the service leaned a bit on the slow side, the wait for our dishes was worth it. The masala dosa and sambhar were exceptional, and the appam was also quite satisfying. However, the vegetable korma left something to be desired, falling short of expectations. A minor adjustment in the sweetness of the rose smoothie would be appreciated next time. Despite these nuances, Id definitely return for the delicious masala dosa experience.

If you want to taste authentic kerala food and south indian food, look no further! The service is exceptional and the food quality is excellent. We have eaten at several other indian restaurants but this is at the peak in terms of quality, taste, authenticity and service. Will always be a stop for us from now on!
