This spot came up and when we arrived it had a Michelin rating and it lives up to it!I ordered the pork dumpling, crispy pork pieces and beef noodle dish. The dumplings were phenomenal especially with the sweet sauce. The crispy pork pieces were delicious but wish they had something to dip them with but they were still crispy & on point with the seasoning. The beef noodle soup which is noted in an article posted on their wall was really good and I highly recommend these three dishes.I’d definitely come back here again for the excellent customer service and Michelin star rated dishes.

Disappointing level of consistency on the dishes. The taste and quality of the dishes are quite hit and miss. The spicy and sour noodles are not sour and just spicy (at spice level 4). Sadly the spicy isnt adding any flavour, as they just taste bland. Incredibly disappointed with that.However the spicy beef noodle soup has great flavour and a surprising amount of beef, but somehow the spicy part of the noodles is much lower even at the same spice level of 4. It was good enough to order again. But after this experience I am not sure I want to roll the dice on the taste again. Disappointing.Service is designed to be pretty sparse. You order via their online menu system, and you can pay for it there too. The only time you would potentially interact with them is when they bring over the food. Not sure if I consider this sparse service or not. It almost feels like a fast food place with how little interaction there is.But hey they use cute bowls for their noodles, so theres at least that.

I think the spice level is inconsistent dish to dish. I enjoyed my zhajiang noodles (level 2) but it felt like it was closer to 1.. Level 1 ordered by another had zero spice, but the sour noodles ordered at level 1 could have been closer to 2.Wait wasnt long but its crazy to ask people to sit outside in 100 degree weather without fans?Service was quick and efficient. QR code ordering but pay at counter. Somewhat crowded parking structure.

Food in San Gabriel is off the charts and since there is such a concentrated population of the Chinese community, if the food aint spectacular its not going to make it. Mian is Sichuan style noodles cooked to perfection. Definitely a must try here. I tried the spicy beef Noodle Soup and it was top 5 ever for sure!

Friend wanted me to let him know what I thought of it, since he liked it, but he heard all sorts of mixed reviews from everybody he knew. Ive never gotten around to trying it, so figured this was the chance. Pretty good. The soup was flavorful, and the noodles had a springiness to them. The popcorn Chicken we got was pretty good too! Fresh out of the fryer, the batter was really crispy!

The Noodles are truly Southeast China taste but with the improvement of choosing the spicy level. The beef noodles and Zajiang Noodles are the famous ones. 🍳 And Bok Choy make the dishes taste good. However the seat might not seem enough in rush hour. Especially in the hot summer, ones could not sit comfortably at outside dinning area. Have a discount during 3-5pm. A good choice for dining in.

The noodles here slapped! I got the beef noodles and the tofu noodles with meat and they were pretty decent! They’re also not too expensive which I like. The noodles had those numbing schezuan peppers which was a fun experience. To order food, you need to scan the QR code and add dishes to the cart and order them collectively for the table. Overall, a good spot to get noodles.

Noodles were ON POINT the flavouring, toppings, etc were all tasty. But the texture, the pull, and the chewiness of their noodles were verryyyyy satisfying. I can see why theyre on the Michelin Guide... I tried their side dishes as well, but my favourite was the pork dumplings. If you dont like chewy dumpling skins then maybe not for you, but I quite like a good thick skin before enjoying the pork juice inside :)10/10

For someone who has very low spice tolerance that still loves szechuan, this was the perfect restaurant for me. The fact they they offer different spice levels enhanced my whole whole experience.I ordered house beef noodles spice level 1, steamed veggies, chili oil chaoshou and fries - all hit the spot and left very full (brought some take homes)Definitely will want to go back here whenever Im around the area.

Theyve got a lot of reviews and the dishes are generally pretty good portions, but they do miss the mark in noodle texture. Plainly, they overcook their noodles to the point where they lose their chewiness. The Chengdu Zajiang Noodles were a bit bland. The Sichuan Cold Noodles had great flavor but were just noodles with sauce. For way better, head to Chongqing Noodles for their Dan Dan Noodles

I googled best Chinese in LA and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, a different animal. So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that.So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful).So if spicy is what you are in for, youll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only.My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was noodles or dumplings. :-)

Went to this restaurant during Thanksgiving. Ordered Wanza Noodle which is very good. I would give 5 stars to the food but 2 stars to the service. Although I got pretty good service when dining in, when we asked for the keys to the public restroom, the waitor said the key was taken by another guest. Then a waitress came and told me that I can GO OUTSIDE AND WAIT, which is very rude.Its not something worth pride of that you dont have a public restroom. Its not correct to misunderstand a customer without knowing the context. I just left the table 3mins ago and then was asked to go out because I asked for the restroom key?! The misunderstanding made my very uncomfortable. That made my tips ridiculous. I didnt ask back the tips because the waitor did serve me well. I wouldnt come back again anymore.

Incredible. Taste great, great value, what more should I say. Pictured is the Chengdu Zajiang Noodles. Level 4 spice is not bad for average spice enjoyers and the Mung Bean drink is a great way to help mitigate the heat. I am also told it is pretty authentic but can not confirm myself.

First time trying Chinese food in LA and it was wonderful! We ordered cold and soup noodles. Both were yummy and i liked the taste of ginger! We also got dumplings but they were a bit salty more than usual. Also, servants were really kind and helped us to understand the menu (it was mixed in Chinese and English ).Overall, i totally recommend this place for travelers.

Definitely one of my favorite szechuan noodle place, their noodle and szechuan spices are perfect blend into each other. The noodle has great texture, not too soft and not too hard. The szechuan spice is not too overpowering and still able to feel the numbness and spiciness. I usually ordered the Chengdu ZaJiang noodle (not in photos), House Beef noodle, Chili Oil wonton and Steamed egg minced pork.

The minced meat and egg is a must have appetizer item. The spicy wontons are also delish. Be prepared for a tongue-numbing spicy experience, unless youre asking for a level 1 spice. The complementary mung bean drink, also great, really helps relieve the spicy numbness.

We went for lunch on a Sunday and it was just great! Service was totally fine, portions were big and prices were fine too (cheaper compared to WeHo). Long wait outside to get seated inside, but they have a good sign-in system, and you will get a text on the wait status. Also they put out a heater on a cold day so that helped a lot. Good flavor on the spicy wontons and braised beef noodle soup, but my noodle was lacking in ground meat and only got a couple of bok choy leaves, and the meat got lost in the soup (that dish shouldve been served with no soup so the meat could be blended with the noodles). Food came pretty quickly once we placed the order. Difficult to find parking. I had to find street parking in the residential area.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the 626! I have to be honest. I was never really a fan of Sichuan style noodles—or most Chinese noodle dishes for that matter. It was either ramen or kalkuksu for me type-of-thing. But this place completely rocked my world. Maybe I just haven’t had good Chinese noodles up to this point? But MAN, do they do noodles well here. It’s such a simple setup, but the chewiness of the noodles, the perfect balanced broth, and the right amount of protein make me so happy. It’s one of the few places I’d drive out of LA to eat at.

Mian means noodles in Chinese. I read a lot of great reviews about this place and Im glad that it still has an outdoor dining area so I can bring my dog with me.You scan QR code and order right from your phone. You can choose to pay via the app or you can ask the store to generate a receipt to pay in store.Ordered pig intestine noodle with extra noodle (level 3/medium spicy) and found it just average. Noodle cooked well but theres nothing spectacular about it. For the price, I can easily recommend three other noodle places with better noodle/soup base/flavor. The good thing is that it has a good amount of spicy without adding a lot of salt.But, we really enjoyed their side dishes. The peanut was amazing and fried chicken is probably one of the best fried chicken i have tried. Oh, and dont bother with the steamed beef wrapped in powder, it was horrible.

This is a small restaurant in Rosemead down valley blv. I had never been here before so this wss my first time coming here and the food is actually pretty good. I cant recall the name of the bowl of spicy noodles but it was delicious. Yall need to try this spot. If noodles 🍜 is your thing give this place a shot. My favorite part is that they have their noodle Broths in 5 different levels of spicyness. 5 being the hottest 🔥. Im Mexican so spicy foods are my thing so i went with level 5. I was a bit disappointed because its not really spicy i would rate it mild if anything but thats just me. Go try out and tell me what you think.

Very flavorful and affordable bowl of noodles. Got the Chef special gizzard one. They offer 1-5 level of spice with 5 being the spiciest. 3 for me had the perfect kick. The meat was relatively tender and chewy too. The noodles are a bit salty after eating around half of it but still delicious never the less and its not too bad since there are other savory flavors that come in to play.I also enjoy that they give you unlimited sweet mung bean drink which complements the noodles and helps with the spice.

I don’t know what to call it but those noodles, the pork dumplings, this egg custard dish that comes in a cup and the vegetables are out of this world!!! My girlfriends sister recommended this place for lunch. I ordered the house beef noodles with spicy level 3. The beef was cooked perfectly, as were the noodles. The taste/spice was something new to me: a numbing feeling. But it wasnt spicy enough to make it painful to eat, although I did sweat. I very much enjoyed the food, especially the black fungus appetizer we got. The tea was also refreshing.

I got the Chengdu Zajiang noodles and they are yummy! Great rich flavor, good meat, and I love the egg and bok choy. Not too oily either even with the sauce. And the portions are big! Whats extra nice is the restaurant threw in a free mung bean drink with my order! (It was delicious and went great with the noodles!)

The taste of the noodles is good, but I’m more concerned with their health and hygiene issues. We have found stones in their noodle multiple times, almost 80% of the time. This time the stone hurt my teeth significantly, which makes me to leave this review to warn people going to this place. The stones are big in terms of the size to hurt your teeth, see the pictures below for it. Be extremely careful if you decide to eat here.

Really good spot for great noodles and spicy dumplings. There are indoor and outdoor seating for everyone. I would definitely suggest the black fungus side dish with any of your Noodle dishes to compliment the flavors. There are different spice levels so pick whichever you can handle. A safe bet is to get level 3 for a flavorful kick without being too overwhelmed. Service is super quick and courteous. Wait picks up during lunch and dinner rush so I suggest swinging by off times to enjoy without the lines.

Wonderful place for numbing spicy noodles!Popular place with indoor and outdoor seating, QR code at each table so you can order and pay with your phone. Super easy. If theres a wait, you can get in line online which is nice, or sign in on the iPad near the door (or clipboard, if its not being used), and listen for your number when its called.I take my friends and visiting family here to have their wonderful, chewy, toothsome noodles!Zhajiang mian is great, the beef noodle soup is quite good but also quite spicy (as the temperature adds to the spicy sensation!). But my absolute favorite order is definitely the special gizzard noodle! Its tiny pieces of gizzard (crunchy!) and liver (creamy!), with pickled crunchy veggies, a pile of those chewy noodles and at the bottom, the spicy salty red sauce. Ive tried spice levels 1-3 and I like the taste of level 2 best - (I find higher levels become quite salty - sour for my taste) and allows all the other flavors to come together well.Highly recommend!

I mean, whats not to love about dumplings filled with juicy pork, coated in a flavorful chili oil that is both sweet and savory?The first time I walked into Mian, I was immediately greeted with an inviting atmosphere. The space is minimalistic, yet modern, and although you dont interact with the staff directly, they are friendly. The menu is accessible via a QR code on the table and you can place your order directly through the website it brings you to.As soon as I took my first bite of the Spicy Pork Dumplings, I was transported to flavor heaven. The skin was elastic and chewy, which is exactly how a dumpling should be. The filling was juicy, flavorful, and expertly seasoned, making every bite an absolute delight. But the real star of the dish was the chili oil - it was a perfect balance of sweet and savory, with just the right amount of kick. I swear, I could eat that chili oil on its own and be completely satisfied.In addition to the Spicy Pork Dumplings, Mian has a wide variety of other dishes on their menu that are delicious. Ordered spicy beef noodles for 18 (the most expensive item) so in total it cost 20, in Jun 2021. But the beef was a bone mainly and the meat part was as tough as charcoal. No vegetables at all in the bowl, so very bad portions. Super spicy although I asked for mild (2 out of 5) that I could not detect any other flavor. The piquant intestine one was less so, but the beef and duck innards noodles were really salty especially once you get down to the bottom of the bowl. I asked for less spicy since Im weak but the flavor was still good and what spice was left was perfect.We got a cup of sweet mung bean tea each and a dish of sweet jelly peanut dessert. Mian is a great place. They make tasty noodles. I enjoy the Sichuan cold noodles. My partner likes the beef noodle soup, although Mian can be a little inconsistent sometimes and the meat isnt always great, but that seems the case with a lot of great places that make 牛肉面.The service at Mian is good. They have indoor dining now and it works. The ordering system is kind of cool. Only disappointment is that last time I went they didnt give mung bean soup, but it was close to closing, so I suppose they ran out.

Order any of their spicy wontons or dumplings and get ready for some flavor kick in the mouth which starts off sweet quickly by the spicy chili oil and then followed by savory finish of the meat. I love this place. As a Korean I grew up going to Korean-Chinese restaurants to eat jjajangmyun. After trying the ZaJiang noodles here, I have to say its so much better than the Korean variant Ive been eating my whole life. Its got a nice spicy kick and garlicky flavor to it, something that the Korean style is missing. They have 5 levels of spiciness here. To me, its a more peppery style of spiciness and its oil-based, so it can really catch you off guard. Definitely get the extra noodles, no additional charge. Dont forget to mix well, since the sauce is at the bottom of the bowl and you want that chili oil to permeate throughout the entire noodles.The Szechuan cold noodles are a solid choice as well. Theyre cold noodles served in a sauce thats composed of vinegar, garlic, spice, and some of those mouth-numbing peppercorns. A bit on the sour side but still delicious.You should also complement your meal with some chaushou (dumplings). You can also get the spice level customized. You cant go wrong with either the pork or chili oil chaoshou. Also, the mung tea they serve here is really good, refreshing and not too sweet.Hands down, one of my top places for noodles in the SGV. The portion sizes here are very generous so youll definitely leave full. Excited to try the other noodle dishes. Located in a large strip mall; they have some parking outside as well as a larger underground parking lot. Ive never waited more than 10 minutes here.

I feel obligated to write this review only because in my opinion, this was not a 4 star worthy restaurant. I would say 2.5, maybe 3 at most.The menu items were pretty limited. I got the house beef noodle. Apart from the lack of flavor, the pieces of beef meat was tough and chewy. The soup was watery, and lack the rich complexity of stews that have been cooked for hours. It was also super spicy for being mild.The other noodles we got were the ziajiang mien and the Sichuan cold noodle. The cold noodle only had noodles, chili sauce and a handful of bean sprouts. Youll find this place listed on some lists of top restaurants in Los Angeles and for good reason. Its high quality Szechuan food (noodles, soups, dumplings). Most of the food comes with Szechuan peppers and Szechuan chillis. One causes spiciness, the other causes your mouth to tingle. If youve never had these before you are in for a treat. The kitchen is more than happy to turn down (or up) the spice. Every meal comes with a free traditional drink that helps with the spice (and is also really tasty).
