Can’t rave about this place enough. The signs outside caught my attention and I had to see if their bold claims were true. The atmosphere was great. These people have a great sense of humor and even better taste and cooking skills. I ordered the house burrito and it was the size of a newborn baby. It was beautifully and carefully plated. I was impressed with how delicious the shrimp and chicken was. In short, their signs don’t lie. 11/10

Found this gem from a friend. Fresh homemade dishes in a comfortable atmosphere. The blackened shrimp quesadilla was perfect. Huge shrimp, creamy cheese with just the right amount of rice and black refried beans on the side. When we walked in at 11:30 the place was still waking up, 30 minutes later tables were full of locals and take out orders going out the door. Fast and very fresh. Will be back again and again to start eating my way through the menu.

Delicious food!! Highly recommend it.The complimentary salsa and chips are one of the best (didn’t last until I could take a good photo). All of the boards they have put up are true 😄 (check the added photos).Ordered a half order of Chips and Guacamole, Fajita Salad with Charbroiled chicken (comes with 3 tortillas), a Ranch Quesadilla (comes with beans and rice) and a Blackened Chicken Sandwich (comes with fries). The portion size is great. You’ll probably end up overeating as you can’t stop, it’s that good. They also have Horchata, do try!

Stopped here while on vacation this past week. So good!!! Food was definitely fresh and staff was friendly. We ate at the restaurant and the staff that would come from the kitchen to bring food always had a smile on their face and seemed so happy!

I think I eat here once a week! Its delicious and quick. We love the tostadas. I get shredded beef or veggie and my husband gets blackened shrimp. The bean dip is delicious too. We also like to have the flan when its available.

Solid Mexican spot in Pacific Grove, where we stopped by on the way to the 17 mile drive. Super delightful food for quite an affordable price too in this expensive area. I got the burrito vegetale and some nachos and fries to share. As you can see from the pictures, there was plenty to go around and then some! The salsa, sour cream, and guac were well done. Very fresh food. The burrito itself was absolutely loaded and would honestly suffice on its own without any appetizers. Theres also complementary chips and salsa. Docking a star off for the general ambience and cleanliness - there were some flies hovering around our table. But the food and the value of what you get is definitely worth it.

This is a well priced Mexican restaurant. The horchata is good and so are the enchiladas. The tacos are American style in the sense they are big and have cheese in them. But the food is tasty.The star of the place though is the spicy green salsa that is only available upon request. Put that on your taco or piece of steak and enjoy. Ask for the spicy green salsa. And yes, it’s spicy!!

Delicious, fast, super-friendly! Off the beaten path, worth a detour (hike 1 mile up from PG on Forest Ave. Its uphill, but then you can make up for the lost calories here). Im a picky Mex cuisine customer (no Pico de Gallo, no Guac), and they served me a perfect plate customized to me.

Absolutely great service and amazing food! The shrimps were easily best shrimps I’ve had in my life! And the employees were so nice and generous. We were just talking about wanting to get more chips and a minute later the sweetest employee said she over heard us and got us 2 plates of them. Chose to have first night in Pacific Grove dinner at Miguels (Michael’s) Taqueria and it was quite good. Set in an innocuous strip mall, easy to miss. Colorful, Latin tinged interior with plenty of seating. Menu well displayed in frames on the wall. As they say here, it’s Mexican food with Texan and Cajun influences. Menu has numerous blackened choices. Interestingly, you can order grilled vegetables as a side to go with your meal. And single tacos are listed in the sides menu. They are clearly grilling over flame which added a nice char to our shrimp fajitas and tacos. The fajitas for the wife came as beautiful platter complete with sour cream, cheese, and guacamole. The kitchen kindly honored my request to not blacken my shrimp as described on the menu for my tacos. These were also delicious with the shrimp perfectly cooked and tasted nice and fresh. One of the better places I’ve enjoyed Mexican food in a long time.

10/5 stars. I grew up in a Mexican household and I always hold Mexican restaurants to high standards. Michaels grill and taqueria met and surpassed all of those standards. The food is amazing, the space is classic, the music is popping, and the staff are wonderful. Do yourself a favor and visit this gem of a restaurant.

I can not say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. The service was fantastic but the food was next level. While I only ordered a chicken fajita salad, I can tell you confidently that it was genuinely one of the best fajitas I have ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and moist, the shell was crispy without getting soggy, the peppers and onions were exceptional and the garlic dressing was out of this world. I know this is a crazy review for a salad, but that’s how impressive all of the fresh ingredients were. Will absolutely be back to try everything else on the menu! Possibly the best fajitas I’ve ever had.

We were passing through town and did laundry next door and could smell the amazing food. We read through their menu and values and we were hooked. We had a shrimp taco, mushroom enchilada, and a steak burrito. It was absolutely delicious! 10/10 would recommend and if we’re ever in town we will stop again!

You do get fresh food here that tastes decent, but it is not the most flavorful. The beans can use a bit more seasoning, and the salsas a bit more spice, but the chicken is grilled just right, and the rice is seasoned well. Overall, the food is fresh and satisfying.

Food was good for the price but they gave me meat that I had to tear at with a butter knife. They also covered a lot of stuff in cilantro, which I cant stand. I asked for guacamole on the side, intending to take it home to my vegetarian friend, and was told it came in its own container. Instead it came as its own lump on my plate touching my meat. Just a waste as I dont like it and now my friend cant eat it. I wont be going again but if you like cilantro this wouldnt be a bad place.

Fantastic food and a great staff. Take the time to read all the light-hearted signs around and you get a feel you’re at a family run restaurant, which I believe it is.The chips and salsa prior to your meal will never last until your meal shows up, and I can’t understand how that happens every time. It’s a great spot, and I recommend it to all people looking for a great, well-priced meal in Monterey or Pacific Grove.

I recently changed my diet to vegetarian and that vastly limits menu items at most food outlets. I have eaten here plenty of times and appreciate the healthier aspects of grilled not fried dishes. The red sauce was plentiful and too mild for my taste. The wife had a chicken enchilada with red sauce, along with sides of refritos and rice. The refritos were tasty, the enchilada passable. LOVE THIS PLACE! (The location in Pacific Grove) I always order the blackened shrimp tostada platter and theyre very generous with their side of avocado that comes with it. Occasionally Ill order the blackened shrimp quesadilla with no cheese - I just ask if they can add guacamole in place of the cheese and they kindly do so (NO EXTRA CHARGE). That deserves all caps because it seems like most places these days wont allow you to swap things or if you do they nickel and dime you. So I really appreciate when a restaurant is fair with their customers. If someone omits an item due to a food allergy or health preference, they should be able to sub something in place of that (within price reason) I know avocados are not the cheapest to find so the fact that they do that swap without a hassle is GREATLY APPRECIATED and is another reason why I respect this place and return almost once a week.P.s. I know most people think What is a quesadilla without cheese? but trust me when I tell you that this modification is just as delicious! and definitely a healthier option. Very generous portions and always great customer service!

My husband and I came by to order a couple tacos to take to the beach for a quick lunch. We were disappointed to find that they dont serve carnitas or any pork, definitely more TexMex than taqueria. We ordered one asada and one shrimp taco. The steak and the shrimp both had good flavor, but there was not enough meat in either taco. The tortillas they used were over-sized compared to most taquerias but the amount of filling was not increased proportionately. They were topped with lettuce and cheese, but onions & cilantro or typical toppings. They were slightly improved by topping with salsa, but the tortillas fell apart very quickly and mostly had to be eaten with a fork.

For vegetarians, try the ranch house quesadilla. The staff is always nice and even if they are busy it clears out quickly. One star off for shrimp that I wouldnt buy. Come on folks, youre right near the Monterey Bay Aquarium, represent and follow Seafood Watch! Also, if you get carryout youll get a literal grocery store bag full of plastic. We were visiting family in Monterey, and they suggested Michaels on our way into Carmel Valley. It is tucked away in a small strip-mall that would be easy to pass if youre not careful. I had the House Burrito and my wife the taco and enchilada combo. We enjoyed the chips and salsa that came with the meal while waiting on the food to arrive. My burrito was delicious and the enchilada was great as well. I would pass on the chicken taco next time. Others in our party raved about the Blackened Quesadilla and Blackened Burrito.
