I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mikado Sushi, and I must say that my experience was delightful. Located next to the Santa Maria mall downtown, this restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and a diverse menu of Japanese cuisine.To start off my meal, I ordered three California Tempura Rolls, one TNT Roll, and one Spicy Crunch Roll. The California Tempura Rolls were a delightful twist on the classic California roll, as they were lightly battered and fried to perfection. The crunchy exterior added a satisfying texture to the creamy filling, and the combination was a true delight for my taste buds.The TNT Roll was a standout dish, packed with a burst of flavors. The blend of spicy tuna, avocado, and cucumber provided a perfect balance of heat and freshness. Each bite was a mouthwatering experience that left me craving for more.The Spicy Crunch Roll was another winner on the menu. It had a fantastic kick of spiciness that perfectly complemented the crunchy texture. I’ve been craving good sushi for the past couple months and I tried Mikado before and it was eh. I got it yesterday and it was SO GOOD. I ordered 4 rolls and ranked best to good (none of them were bad): Play Boy Roll, Ocean Tiger Roll, Santa Maria Roll, Fried Spicy Philadelphia.I also like their gyoza and miso soup. I liked the combination yakisoba but you just don’t get enough for the price.I did not like the Ocean 11 roll, jalapeño shrimp, monkey ball, sesame chicken, beef terryaki, or the Oh Boy roll.

The food was decent. I was not impressed in any way but it was not bad either. Service was better than the food. The whole place needs a good renovation in my opinion, it smells and looks old and run down. Not impressed, but I wouldn’t run away from it either. A totally average place, hence the totally average rating

Joseph is an amazing waiter! He is very friendly and his service is phenomenal! He helped me embarrass my husband with the birthday song for his 50 birthday ! He is very friendly and on top of his game! Loved the food the cooks are amazing! Very busy considering other sushi spots! That lets you know it’s the spot!

My family and I have been going to this restaurant for years. It was our go to. Always great service and great quality food. We went this week and we were very disappointed. The prices increased, which I understood. Prices are going up everywhere, but when our food was brought to our table, we were shocked. The rolls looked like play food.They were so teeny tiny, bite size. If you’re going to increase the price at least offer the same quality of food. It’s poor business practice when you charge more, but offer less. I won’t be going back until this changes. Another thing I noticed was that the restaurant looks like it’s being run down and service took a long time. Not very many people there either. I gave a 2 star because it still tastes good, but considering all else I couldn’t give it more.

Sushi rolls are really good here. I also had salmon and tuna sushi and both had great taste. Thanks Mikado for lunch good job.Just went to lunch here again. I think I found my new roll. It is the Playboy! Not cause of the name it is whats in it, the name is a plus.

Great value for money. They have an amazing sushi special where if you spend at least $20 on rolls you get half off. Sushi was delicious. Super fresh and came out quickly. Bento box was ok comparatively, which is why my overall rating for food is 4 stars. Also got the sake bomb special which was a tall Sapporo and small sale for $9.99.

Decided to shake things up for a late lunch.The food was on point and any issues I had with it were due to my mistakes when placing my order (IE: knowing the roll had avocado and forgetting to ask them to remove it).I still ate itIt was deliciousWe were sat within 2 minutes and had our drinks / order placed in the next 5. The only downside with the service is that I needed to flag staff down for a refill, for boxes, and to pick up the check. It seemed like we were forgotten about after everything was brought to the table.If you are sensitive to sunlight, might I suggest asking for a table that isnt along the front windows. The south side or center of the dining room would have been perfect.This place is now on my list of go-to places for sushi, though I will probably sit at the bar.

Were told that we had to wait 5 minutes for a table. The 5 minutes turned into 40 minutes to be seated. We had to wait over an hour to receive our food ask for tea waitress end up giving us a Coke instead of a tea. I love sushi. We got 4 different. They all taste the same. I was disappointed.
