This is my first time visiting the Mikuni sushi in the fountains. Overall, my group and myself had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was super clean, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I didn’t even know I liked raw fish until I ate this sushi. although I have had a lot of practice with cooked sushi. The presentation and the flavors were fantastic, and I think my favorite ward role was the Japanese mafia role. Great atmosphere and food for any time of day.

Mikuni is in danger of losing their small town sushi spot. They have locations all over the greater Sacramento area and all of them are really very good. The sashimi is fresh and melts like butter. Bin bins are no longer in the menu but regardless of which one we visit they never hesitate to prepare a plate. Juan our Sushi chef was great, a little shy but we made it a point to drag him into the experience. Everything we got was served on time including what we ordered from the kitchen. The manager stopped by and chatted with us and was supportive of Juan... as a business owner I can appreciate the care and support they give to their employees.

My experience at this sushi restaurant was absolutely fantastic there was sushi I didnt even know its a lot better than trying grocery store the waiter was perfect on the order and she did my drink of soda when I sat down with my twin sister I was craving soda actually and she did it on the perfect time. The sushi was delicious too Bad I was full and we only had a couple left but my nephew saved the day. No leftover. The all different sushi was delicious and cook perfection good job on the chefs

Amazing service and really fresh food. We were seated quickly and our waiter came to check up on us consistently throughout the meal. The food was great. The sushi tasted fresh, the Brussel sprouts were really good. The calamari was made well, the sauce didnt have much depth of flavor -spicy but not tasty.We were seated immediately. Once ordering, many people ordered after us and received food before us. Our server said theyd check up on our food once and we asked her to check up up on our food another time before receiving food 45 minutes after walking into the place

My family and I have been to mikuni several times, especially birthday time to spin the birthday wheel. Tonight we got to mikuni about 15 minutes before happy hour was over. Our waiter Giovanni was quick to come to our table and took our happy hour order... He also made sure to come back after wed browsed the happy hour menu a little longer. Giovanni was professional and friendly. The food was excellent as always.

Now, I like the food here. The servers are nice, its very clean, and the atmosphere is just fine. However, this instance my food had arrived well after everyone else finished their meals. Mikuni has many locations, and those weve been to are all very nice, clean, and all offer great rolls, which is all we order usually. This location is huge, with a big parking lot in front. Very friendly staff, fast service, and The Fountains is a great place to walk around, get coffee, desert, etc.

First time visiting this location. Husband and I frequent Mikuni in Midtown Sacramento. They have just opened but the place was already packed. Decided to order takeout... 35 minutes wait became 45 minutes which was understandable. Went home and enjoyed our sashimis and sushi rolls which were very good. Mikuni for us has always been consistently good.

Was our first time and we were pleased with our visit. I liked the bento boxes for the kids and the gyozas were supper yummy! A very good taste to them. The teriyaki chicken was actually juicy and good. My husband and I split 3 rolls and granted they were not massive or anything too fancy they were good! I devoured mine faster then my husband which never happens. I wanted more, that’s for sure! (Maybe that’s to say, the rolls could be a tiny bit bigger).We also got garlicky edamame and had them make it a little spicy and it was so yummy. We are from out of town but if we ever in the area again we will be back.One of our party did have the calamari and he said it was just ok.

Walked in the Saturday, following Thanksgiving, wait was 15 min. Sat down. I thought we would be next ( a party of six.-2if which were littles 5&7) but a family that was behind us was seated first with no mention to me. I considered our size….then a second family was seated. I approached hostess. I was told server just arrived, and we would be seated next. Our wait now over 25 minutes. We r called.They walked us through the restaurant, past one empty big booth that we would fit and a second big booth that we would fit, into a back room that was empty & presented us with the farthest back left corner table in a corner! When we voiced that we wanted one of the two EMPTY booths, there was immediate annoyance. We were sat with no manners which left us feeling mad. And so our Mikuni service began. Our waiter was a win thankfully but our request to add 2 more sliders to our anppetizer order was a “no”. Waiter explained he didn’t understand as has been done b4 and graciously apologized. Food too, was off and I’m a big fan. Perhaps mikuni has just gotten too big and lost focus on customers. I hope this writing brings back the mikuni I knew and loved.

I am a professional black women who is in town on business and had a dinner meeting scheduled with 7 other white colleagues. I ordered the most SIMPLE thing on the menu and it was ONLY one item. My business partners ordered at minimum, 2 things per person. A couple ordered 3 items. They all received their food before me. To add insult to injury (never mind the lack of table manners), they were either complete with their meals, or had 2 or 3 bite’s left, by the time the waitress came back around to tell me that my order is coming shortly. EVERYONE had completed their meal, and had all of their dirty dishes ready for retrieval by the time my food hit the table. I told them to take it back because I no longer wanted it. This experience left me feeling so hurt. I actually had to leave the table to not embarrass myself in front of my business partners because it literally led me in tears. I do not appreciate being so blatantly treated differently…. This isn’t the south during the Civil Rights Movement. I did have a seat at the table, yes. But the treatment is still the same. I have never felt the way that I feel now. I have never left a restaurant in tears. I was treated as if I were lesser than and I absolutely don’t appreciate it! I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone that believes that ALL human beings should be treated equally.

Today my daughter birthday, and we choose this restaurant for family’s lunch, We dont visit your restaurant very often, but this is our first time in Fountain in Roseville . The impressions of Mikunis restaurants in other areas have always been good, delicious food, friendly chefs and waiters, but today, we were even surprised, the waiters are not friendly, they look tired. There are three of us and we ordered 3 portions of sushi, one each, and a little later we ordered any sashimi. The waiter announced 16 pieces of fish before ordering, they brought 15, saying that they cut the fish differently because of this, the quantity changes, it sounded strange. My daughter didnt wait for her sushi until we asked the waiter about it. in general, I think we will hardly come again to roseville fountains. I always leave good tips, but not today.

After having MANY great experiences and great food at Mikuni, we are now completely turned off by this restaurant. We went there for lunch today and left disappointed. The server was nice, but service was a bit slow. Our food came and was barely warm. Our teriyaki chicken seemed like it was scrap pieces of chicken and hardly any sauce on the pieces. My serving had four “dry” pieces. My wife’s vegetable tempura had a large piece of broccoli that was actually rotten (black not burned) but still served and the asparagus was extremely tough and not chewable. We showed the server, he politely apologized, took the plate and said he’d bring it up to the manager. He came back a short time later with just a piece of broccoli and a piece of asparagus. The batter on the broccoli was not cooked. My ginger pork (2nd lunch item) was at least 50%-60% onions and didn’t taste like it usually does. Compromising the quality of food, produce and ingredients will eventually catch up to any establishment. Needless to say, we won’t be returning to any of the Mikuni locations and will tell everyone we know to not expect the quality and service at Mikuni to be the same as it was.

The various Nigiri we had was absolutely amazing. We also had several different rolls and appetizers and quite literally, everything was delicious. The server was amazing and wad able to get us physical menus as the cell reception was not so great. This dining experience was amazing and I absolutely would return, without question. I usually never ever put a review for a restaurant so you can imagine what it takes for me to put one but I’ll keep it short. Got there and grabbed seats at the bar and waited for service which took much longer than usual and the bartender/server was very rude and would throw items on the bar as he handed them. Food took forever to come and from one bite you can tell the tuna was very old and had a very unusual smell and taste. Rolls and other items we requested were below average but chicken katsu was good. Service is very important especially if you are paying that much for food but food was bad and so was the service. Wouldn’t recommend this place if you are trying to enjoy Japanese food

There is often a long wait but the food is excellent. We checked in at 4:45 pm and were seated around 5:30 pm on a Saturday. The wait for people who checked in at 5:30 was 1.5 to 2 hours. We had the $65-for-two special with an appetizer, entree, two rolls and a dessert. The rolls were excellent and we especially liked the Marilyn Monroll roll. The restaurant is popular, crowded and can get loud. In short, the food is excellent if you can manage the wait.

I have had mikunis Downton on multiple occasions but since we are shelter in place, I decided to stay local and try roseville mikunis. That was a big mistake. The prices for what you received were just not even reasonable. I didnt know I would get that small of an order for $40. I ordered 3 rolls and it looked like they only gave us half of a regular order. Then the mafia roll tasted like someon just put a bunch of liquid smoke and just ruined my sushi.You can get an idea of what $40 can get you.

Very pleased by the service, food and ambiance of this new location at the fountains!I walked in around 745 pm last night for a party of 2, I was instantly seated at a booth and then welcomed and greeted by my server within moments for drinks and appetizers.My server Serena was very pleasant to speak with and she gave great recommendations for our food. She was attentive to our needs and prompt with her service. The food came out in a very timely manner and the quality of the fish and sushi was top tier.Its rare to come across a sushi restaurant that provides the same fresh quality of food that Mikunis does. No matter which location you decide to visit, the quality remains consistent and delicious. Not to mention that Im always greeted with a warm welcome and a big smile by the staff.We will definitely return to the fountains location in the future as I can clearly see this location is managed and ran very efficiently and well. Im very happy with the experiences Ive had at Mikunis over the years and I would highly recommend dining here to anyone considering it!

UPDATE: After Covid I’ve notice some inconsistencies. The hamachi aburi and the pepperfin don’t taste the same. I’ve had to return them. They seem more fishy and fatty. I don’t know if it’s not cut right or if it’s not as fresh. I also notice the construction of most of the dishes is not the same either. I am going to assume they lost the best sushi chefs during Covid and the new chefs weren’t trained by the best. Hopefully they can bring some original chefs from other locations to show them how to do it right. I also liked the atmosphere of the old location better.This is my favorite sushi spot. Somethings going wrong at this restaurant is my opinion. I ordered a spider roll. Once we finally got the food, the waiter told me that they did not make it like they’re supposed to, asking me if I wanted it anyway. I waited long enough to where I just said no I’ll take it as it is. I was surprised to see that it tasted very poor, was not tasty and literally the worst spider crab roll I ever had.The waiter asked me how it was, I told him it was the worst I’ve had. He did nothing about it. I expected that he would have taken it off of my bill, because honestly it was not good at all, I don’t think anybody would’ve thought it was great testing. The server came right over, took our drink order, came back with a pitcher of amazing Pineapple Mojitos and took our food order.Then, while we were enjoying our wonderful Pineapple Mojito pitcher (try them, SO good) some random guy dropped off two of our sushi rolls -- no plates, no wasabi, no little dishes, no nothing. This location is completely different from any other location. The food is good but the service was terrible. Wait time for a table was 45 minutes when half the restaurant was open for weekend lunch. After we were sat we waited for 15-20 minutes just for water. Then when we talked to the server about how we weren’t happy with the service he decided to be snappy. My wife and I really wanted this to be the new favorite spot! We loved Kaizen and we love the Mikuni on Eureka, so we tried this new location and were a little bit surprised by how disappointing the experience was. The serving staff seems flippant and inattentive–which is in direct contrast to our experience at any other Mikuni! I decided to come by myself for a quick bite on my day off. Asked for a table for one and the server suggested checking the bar first, so I found the only open seat at the bar and waited for a little over five minutes, noticed the bartender look right at me several times and simply continue his conversation with the guest he was talking with. I work in service. I know that we can’t always get to people right away. But it’s not a pleasant experience to be recognized with no indication that you’ll be served. I ended up going back to the hostess and asking for a solo table, was served almost immediately. Maybe the bar just needs more staff? But between the apparent frustration from the team at asking for a solo table to the general attitude of disdain, I won’t be coming back. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t dressed in my best Roseville Fountains clothes? Who knows. I’m sure I’ll never find out.Quick update: I ordered the Hamachi Aburri 2, I get this every time I come. The fish looked worse than any location I’ve been to and it didn’t have the same consistency as I’m used to. We visited the Mikuni Kaizen at The Fountains Roseville this evening and had a great experience. We had a large group with 9 people and a large mobility assistance dog.We’d tried to make a reservation in advance due to the size of our group and the need for accommodations for my service dog, but they said they are only seating guests on a first come, first served basis. Due to that, our wait for a table was considerably lengthy. This is virtually my only complaint.The restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere, the staff is friendly and attentive, and if it matters to you, they are doing their best to keep things COVID safety compliant with masks and signage indicating proper safety precautions for guests.Once a table was available, we were seated in a large booth at the back of the dining area with ample space for our group. The service to our table was prompt and our waiter was very friendly and helpful, as well as very attentive with many visits back to confirm we were satisfied or if we wanted anything else. The food was very good and the quantity was substantial enough to leave our party full and contented.As someone who has been treated poorly by some establishments because of my service dog, I truly appreciate their welcoming attitude toward me and my service dog. No one on the staff overtly acknowledged her, but the fact that we were treated like any other patron of their restaurant really meant a lot to me, as it can be embarrassing when employees question you as a service dog handler in a public place.I highly recommend this location!

First of all, Ive been a Mikunis fan for decades. My mother is Japanese born and this was the only sushi restaurant she liked and continued to go to. KCRA said Mikunis gave you what you ordered after DNA testing several local sushi restaurants in the Sacramento area including Davis. Not all did. I have always recommended them and given them high praise whenever asked. My first experience was at the Eureka Road location and then I found Kaizen and it was the epitome of dining. I recently went to the new Fountains Mikunis and unfortunately, it no longer has the attraction it once had. I ordered my usual Chirashi Don, and be honest, the fish was cut very poorly. It seemed as if I got the trimmings and the atmosphere was that of a Woolworths diner. I doubt if I will ever visit this location again. Fortunately, Eureka Road is still there. Hopefully they retain the ambience they once had. I am truly sorry that I had to post this review. Hopefully someone will see this and take notice.

Not too bad of a sushi spot. A little pricy but you get a decent amount of food. Flavors are just okay as I have had better sushi at smaller sushi spots. There is a bit of a wait to get a table. Service is really good and saved the experience from being only 2 stars.

Great food. Pretty busy around 130 in the afternoon on a Saturday. I think the nice weather that day brought more people out. Very comforting to see their efforts to try and keep things safe during the pandemic.

Came here for lunch with my 2 year old son. It was a beautiful day and we asked to be seated outside. I love the sun shades they have out there! The staff was nice and the bento box lunch for kids is great! My roll was very tasty as well. It did take them a while to bring the kids meal, but other than that great lunch date with my boy;)

Terrible service.. waited 20 minutes for a coke. Got dinner brought to us 1 person at a time with my meal coming 10 minutes after my family. And we only had 3 people.. the food was cold and not good. I will never come back again..

This place is absolutely amazing, with the most delicious food. Now... What made the experience over the top wonderful was the accommodations they, and specifically Taylor, made on our behalf. I am unable to have rice and she made sure to help find ways to substitute the menu items to help me, and the chefs had no problem changing it up for my very high maintenance requests. We were already amazed at the service when we had casually made the comment of being allergic to avocado. The next roll came out and she had apologized for taking so long, they had cleaned all the boards and utensils so there would be no contamination. By far one of the best dining experiences ever. If we could give more stars, we would.

Pretty decent sushi. A little bit too commercialized in my opinion, but still quite good. I just feel they have grown very big and become way trendy. I personally like the small sushi bar feel a little better. But if you like trendy then its a great place for sushi. On my birthday visit, I spun the wheel and won.... Wait for it.... A tube of wasabi! Hey, at least I didnt get the bag of rice, right?

Thought I would try Mikuni today since everyone else will be eating tacos.... Looked up the menu online and placed my order. Told her I wanted 3 items from the happy hour menu and she took my order... I get there to pick it up and the want to charge me seven dollars more because apparently, happy hour is dine in only, which they obviously cant do right now, but she didnt bother to tell me they cant do happy hour items, despite taking my order for it. STRIKE THREE Mikuni, youre out, and I wont be back. Plenty of other sushi places in Roseville! Not only do you now have food you made but didnt sell because you wouldnt honor the prices on your website, but you now have yet a other negative review.

To start off we had to get up and grab our own drinks that we watched sitting on the bar. Then our black and white was fishy. Then all our food came out except my boyfriends didnt come out until I was completely done eating. Then when we complained about the experience with the blonde haired Manager she gave me a very nasty evil look and even whipped her neck at me in a very aggressive way. Nit a fan off the Manager. Not a great experience to say the least.

Was really great they were busy and I went by myself. I asked to be seated out side. Now I’ve work in the restaurant business and I know that some servers do not like having to get a one seater especially who sits outside away from all their other tables. However the server was a delight. She was friendly and very attentive even though I was only one person. The food was pretty good. The seared tuna was amazing. The sashimi was cut in a weird way. I’ve worked in a sushi restaurant and work with sushi chefs and the way they cut the sashimi was not traditional it was very thin. Anyway that’s just me being picky. Again great service by the server.
