When we entered the store at 8:30 at night, there was only one group of customers. They soon left the store and we were the only ones left. I was worried because it was my first visit, but the chicken wings I ordered were very delicious! The Pho soup was light, but when I added the spicy sauce on the table, it turned out really good. The waiters are sweet and kind.

Our search for the best Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant in Oakland is over. Miss Saigon has all the qualities of a good restaurant. A friendly and very caring service, clean restrooms, good ambiance, parking spaces are available in the area and most especially the food. The food is really great! If you’re a Vegetarian, you might want to try this place coz they got the most delicious menus of Vegetarian cuisine. We will definitely be back again and again to this restaurant.👍👍

Its on the slightly more pricey side of pho, and the quantity (we got smalls) isnt incredible. Most importantly though- the broth is pretty tasteless and you get hardly any umami from the meat and simmering ingredients.Customer service is decent and we were able to place and receive our orders quite efficiently, even though we ultimately had to ask our server multiple times to pay with our phone (they appeared to have forgotten our past requests).Its open until 11pm, which is pretty rare, though. We had a pretty strong craving for noodle soup at a late hour, so I appreciate that we were able to get one at all at this time. That said, it really disappointed on flavor and I dont feel like I satisfied my craving for pho at all. :( Wouldnt come back here again, personally.

Its just not good. All the food was super bland, and apparently very hot means waving a pepper in the vicinity of it. The service was fast though, and my food was ready to pick up exactly when they said it would be, so they get props for that. For the price its just not worth it, especially when I had to drown it in sambal for it to be any good.

Vietnamese standard in Grand Lake area. The seafood noodle soup came with clean-tasting broth and a light mix of seafood. A wide variety of vegetarian dishes.While I’d give the restaurant 4 stars for taste, the prices are steep. $13.95 for a small order of noodle soup may reflect the restaurant having cornered the market this side of Lake Merritt.

I liked it, though would not return…The food portions (all vegetarian) were very good and fresh, though extremely bland. We had to soak everything in a variety of sauces and ended up tasting sauces, we could have bought in a store. For these rather high prices, I would expect more flavor.Very friendly service, seems like a family owned spot. I wish them well and recommend to give it a try.

We have been going to this restaurant for close to 2 decades. It never disappoints. We love the tofu spring rolls, cabbage salad, papaya salad, tofu lemongrass, fish lemongrass, brown rice, vegetable soup - and the list goes on. Tim and Helen, the proprietors, work hard and are so sweet and accommodating. We just got a huge takeout tonight and everything was fresh and hot and a pleasure to eat. Thank you Miss Saigon for always being in our neighborhood. Grand Lake neighborhood people - dont overlook Miss Saigon.

Great food with matching service. Always get the pork vermicelli and a pork bahn mi as of recently. I waited outside to smoke and the lady who took my order walked my food out to me so kindly. Please try to tip if you can. It just says that they are appreciated for everything not just the service and if they catered to your needs to your liking. These small yummy little corner of the town kinda spots might be all we have some day so lets show the love while we can. Things change and often time it sucks

They have great BBQ pork and shrimp combo. On nice days you can sit outside and get the thrill of the avenue. Want to have a beer? You can sit outside. They have more beer than all the bars on Grand combined! The people are friendly. Cheers.

My husband loves the fried shrimp basket with crinkle cut fries. For myself, the dishes have been hit or miss. Dessert warmed up in the microwave, left odd texture in tapioca. Beef stew was watery. Pho noodles clumped together. I cant think of a single thing I want to go back for. They have a huge menu, I will keep trying;)

This is our local Vietnamese restaurant, but we usually go elsewhere because the food is pretty average. I happened to see an advertisement for banh mi so I gave that a try. It was actually really good! The meat tastes high quality and the bread was very fresh. It was definitely expensive for a banh mi, but it was definitely worth it. The Vietnamese iced coffee is also very good.

Unfortunately, had a terrible meal. This place has seriously gone downhill. The chicken in the dishes we ordered tasted old, the beef chow fun, while the portion was large, had no sauce or seasoning at all, there was little to no sauce in the curry dish and I think they forgot to add salt to their food. And too expensive for the quality. I was so disappointed, because this place was very good years ago. Wont be going back.

My son wanted to take me to lunch. We ended up in a oakland. I was surprised to see this small clean quaint vietnamese restaurant not far from Lake Merritt. The menu was extensive, my son raved about the chicken Pho he had in the past. So I ordered it. It was good, had a good flavor but a little salty for my taste. Id go back just to experience other items on the menu.

This is one of my favorite neighborhood eateries. Ive been here dozens of times and always eat outside, the service is snappy and the food is pretty consistent. I frequently order the shrimp vermicelli and I also enjoy the vegetable soup with chicken broth. The egg rolls are nice and they also have an assortment of bottled beers (some hard to find locally).

This is a very economical wonderful Vietnamese experience. I would definitely come back! It is not a place I would go across town for but great to grab dinner before the theatre or if you are in the area. The neighborhood is quite sketchy but once inside be prepared for great pho or curry! The pho bowls are big enough for two! Pick a table away from the door as they will be warmer. It pains me to give a bad review to this place because Ive enjoyed it many times over the years. The waiter seem to have some difficulty with my friend and I. We are both transgender women. I recognize when somebody is uncomfortable with that and he clearly was. His behavior was nervous agitated and he was not able to look either of us in the eye.Thats not uncommon and neither of us was particularly concerned. I even gave a moderate tip. I should have been very concerned and going forward I will have to be.I am absolutely convinced that young man tainted my food and is responsible for food poisoning me. If I could prove it I would have him arrested. I was clearly exposed to contaminated food. The onset of my poisoning is perfectly consistent with the timing of my visit. In the unlikely chance that he was not responsible for poisoning me, his deplorable behavior is enough to award one star. If youre not a member of a group the waitstaff objects to, you will probably not be served poison food. But if you believe in Justice you will not go to this restaurant

My review may be biased because I had a vegetarian pho with vegetable broth, so it doesnt represent the quality of the meat-based pho. I wonder if its a matter of the vegetable broth itself rather than individual restaurants quality. The flavor just isnt there when it comes to vegetarian pho. I saw this place here on Google and decided to check it out with my friend and I after a long hike (and in most cases, with a hungry stomach, ANY food is delicious!) In this case, it was the opposite. When we first walked in, it was very poorly decorated (even the wall outside the bathroom was stocked with beer where it hindered the walking space). We were looking to get a nice bowl of Pho. Upon receiving the menu, I instantly noticed the prices were ridiculous. Being a pho fanatic, I know a solid, bowl of pho is an average cost of $5-$8, and thats for a BIG bowl. Not here, theres two sizes to choose from, a small and a large, the small was around $8 or $9. and the large was about $10. I ordered the small, and when I received it, I wondered to myself where the rest of it was. I could have easily eaten it in two bites. Not only that, but they didnt give you the NORMAL plate of vegetable toppings like most pho places do. They gave me a couple sprigs of mint and basil and small lime pieces. Not even any bean sprouts! I know, right?!! The sauce/dressing only consisted of soy sauce, hoisen sauce and sriacha. Very slim there too. I was just overall not pleased and would not even think twice about coming back here. If youre craving pho, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! Theres wayyyyyyyyyyy more better places in Oakland to eat pho than to come here. Truthfully, I just think that since this restaurant is in a nice place where upper-middle class Dont get me wrong, maybe theres good food there, just not the pho. Its definitely not genuine Vietnamese pho spot like you could get anywhere else.

Tonight I ordered the chicken noodle Pho to be delivered (though Grubhub), it came only for me to find out that the vegetables inside of the bag (containing basil leaves, slices jalapeno, sliced onion, cilantro and a lemon wedge were covered in a white slime) aka rotten. I called, didnt receive any sort of acknowledgement only Ill send more vegetables...Okay...so I wait for 30 minutes & a whole new soup comes with a new bag of vegetables, delivery guy is apologetic and bam..same problem. Vegetables are slimy, cilantro is black-basically rotten veggies again. I call to let the guy know that I am not interested in his soup with rotten vegetables and I would like a refund, no sorry, no nothing, just okay and hangs up on me.Well I ordered through GrubHub and I get a message from them letting me know that this dirt-bag doesnt want to refund my money, he will only issue a credit for his filthy restaurant...seriously?? Who in their right mind would go back to a place that has such low standards and no integrity? I call the owner up and he tells me no one else has had a problem with the soup or the vegetables except for me. Tried Pho Bo and Bun Bo Hue. My viet friend and Taiwanese friend along with myself were not impressed at all. Our soups had little or no flavor sadly. Having lived in Vietnam and extensively eaten viet food in the Bay Area along with Orange County it was disappointing given the 4.1 rating it had.
