Tom is so very friendly, kind, and sweet! You can tell he loves the shop and his customers. I saw this on IG and was finally able to stop by with my friend. I love its a lot of quantity and you can get 2 flavors for a cup/cone. Cash only and there may be a small wait. Id love to come back for the food and other ice cream flavors! I enjoyed the Ube and Matcha ice cream 😋

I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ this place. The owner, Tom is solid, kind, hands down, traditional, & old school. I walked into his shop about 8 years ago for the first time, by chance & Ive been a regular ever since. My oldest son who is now 12, as well as my youngest that is now 7 have been regulars. 🙂 He sells Mitchells as well as Buds ice cream. He makes excellent sandwiches at an unbelievable price, as well. I always make it a point to stop by Miyako when I am in the Fillmore. His shop is a neighborhood gem, and thats putting it lightly. Hes a Godsend. I love to support mom & pop businesses. Hes one of a kind. I also ❤️❤️❤️ the fact that he has bowls filled with candy for sale. He also sells cigarettes (rebel! 🤣). I love real people and Tom is just about as real as real gets. He is cash only and, I love the sign that he has up that reads, CASH ONLY, NO CREDIT, PLEASE DONT ASK. Hes as sharp as a tack.

Sort of an interesting cultural experience. The owner an elderly gentleman, very sweet man, owned the place for over 30 years. He works there everyday. So its more about the experience then the ice cream per se. But milk shakes are tasty..... Definitely not 100 flavors. They have Coney Island Franks, etc...They resell Mitchells and Dryers ice cream. Which are definitely not 4.9 ice cream brands. A blast from the past, and a neighborhood haunt. This neighborhood in SF hasnt gotten off the ground over 40 years. A perpetual bad neighborhood....but again is worth supporting the owner!

Went today, and the owner was so sweet and kind. Feels very nostalgic, and he gave us so much ice cream for $4! Feels somewhat of a hidden gem with the rising prices everywhere else in the city. Definitely the type of place that makes you want to come back and keep supporting.

When my family and I went in, we met a guy named Tom working there. He’s an incredibly nice guy and really kept the atmosphere cheerful. Along with that, the ice cream’s really cheap for how much he gives in a cup, and it tasted amazing!

Great ice cream place with cheap prices. Unfortunately they were out of waffle cones when we went at the end of the day. They have a bunch of flavours which is awesome. I found the avocado flavour didn’t really taste like expected / other avocado items I’ve had though.

The owner was so kind and I was so happy with my purchase! The store uses a mix Mitchells and Dreyers ice cream and has a great variety of flavors! I had a sundae which was a whopping 5 dollars!! Included two scoops, whip cream, your sauce of choice, nuts and sprinkles. If youre in the Fillmore and in the mood for some ice cream, please stop by! They also serve sandwiches, hot dogs, and smoothies/blended coffee drinks as well.

Can you believe that you can get this warm turkey sandwich along with crispy tortilla chips and thick mac salad for 4 dollars? Seeing the owner worked on the sandwich by himself diligently, I feel like an honor to eat here. He thanked me many times for ordering a sandwich. I wish I could have more time to try ice creams as well but I will definitely come back to try. I have seen the classic flavor like rum raisin and a new flavor like Hojicha. I will definitely come back to support this humble and friendly shop!

Miyako is a kept relic of older times, where food was cheap and delicious.Im not sure how they manage to keep the price on a $4 sandwich that is well worth more than $10.The sandwiches are well prepared, come with nachos and some salad, and are delicious.It takes a little time to get the sandwiches, but I think its quite worth the wait

PLEASE PLEASE GO HERE! As a thrifty high schooler living in sf, finding affordable and yummy lunch options is a daily struggle. Miyakos eliminates this issue. A sandwich, nachos and cole slaw all for under 5 dollars and big enough to share with a friend? It sounds too good but its true. I havent even tried the ice cream yet, but the prices are similarly low. I cant wait till it gets warmer in the city so I can get a sundae!! Also, the style and decor of this store is SO CUTE! On top of all this, the sweet old man working behind the counter is so welcoming and kind but clearly needs more customer. With prices like his, it must be hard to make a profit so please support!!

There aren’t many places like Miyako’s left. The whole shop can’t be more than 50 square feet and it’s packed with decor, signs and food. I got a scoop of green tea ice cream in a waffle cone and the man working the counter couldn’t have been nicer. The ice cream was light, creamy and delicious. If you want old-school charm, great prices and great ice cream look no further!

I had a life changing interaction with the man behind the counter. Forget the Golden Gate Bridge, this is the real cultural landmark of SF and when I return to the city, I will be seeing Tom again. We ordered a double scoop to share which was already a really generous portion for the price, but when he found out we were sharing, he took back the cup and added more. Icon behavior. This place is a gem! The owners are the most pleasant and adorable shopkeepers in the city. Lots of yummy Mitchell’s brand ice cream including my favorite, grasshopper pie. If you want to travel back in time to your childhood, they have the blue bubblegum ice cream! Rum raisin was also delicious.If you like deli pickles, you need to try one. Huge, crunchy, and flavorful!

The owner here is super friendly and its definitely an interesting experience getting ice cream here. The style of ice cream is very old-fashioned American ice cream, reminds me of the ice cream I got from the country of upstate NY. The texture is super creamy and the portion size is very generous. I got the strawberry flavor and really liked it, not overly sweet and with strawberry pieces. The ube was different from the soft serve you typically get from asian ice cream/soft serve places, and tastes just like ube. Also cash-only.

A very sweet man named Tom made me a delicious Cookies n Cream milkshake. This place is old school, theyve got Bubble Gum Ice Cream!!! I havent had that since I was 12. Theres also lots of candies from my youth as well, like Sour Punch Snakes, Nerds and various other Willy Wonka Candy. The prices are incredibly low so definitely tip the proprietor to keep him in business. Itd be a shame to see this place disappear and be replaced by another overpriced hipster restaurant.

We came across this little ice cream store, tucked into a storefront on Fillmore street, after taking a walking tour in the neighborhood. But talking to some of the other customers in line, it sounds like this store has been an institution in the neighborhood for decades. Its exactly what it sounds like, an old fashioned ice cream store. We LOVED it. The tiny store shelves are lined with every candy you can think of in glass jars. You can choose from tons of ice cream flavors, buy a sandwich or a soda, or have an ice cream shake, ice cream soda or ice cream sundae made for you. Our family tried all three and they were delicious. The owner served us personally and he was so nice and patient as my daughters took forever to decide what they would like. He was happy to give us large samples of the more unusual ice cream flavors (I tried avocado) and took his time to prepare our order with great care. It was so fun to watch. We really felt like we had stepped back in time! If I lived in this neighborhood, I would get ice cream here all the time. Payment is in cash only. There is no room to sit inside, but there are a few tables on the sidewalk in front of the store.

Very generous scoops and super sweet shop owner.My friends got the waffle ice cream cones which were PACKED with ice cream, and I got a root beer float with 4 scoops (when it was only supposed to be two!).Another friend got a pistachio shake (you can get any flavor made into a shake). Float was good but very jealous of the tradition cones my friends got. If I find myself in San Francisco again, I will definitely be back.Prices were stellar, I only wish the sandwich part of the shop was open on Sundays! Do yourself a favor and visit this great spot.

They also offer incredible prices on food such as chili dogs and sandwiches. A bunch of candy in the shop as well. This place is one of the best places in the city. Tom, the gentleman who runs the place, is very friendly and serves not only delicious ice cream but the scoops are enormous. I cant believe how inexpensive it is, either. This is the coolest little ice cream shop I’ve ever been to! I got a hot turkey sandwich w/ potatoes salad and side of nachos and it was only 3.95!!! Awesome price for all of that food first of all and second it was the type of comforting sandwich leaving my tummy feeling very very warm :-) super good and fresh sandwich w hot meat! And the potatoes salad was seriously some of the most flavorful I’ve had. The owner Tom is super nice and took the time to make sure everything was good and that we were happy! I had the pleasure of visiting Miyako a couple weeks ago. It was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to an ice cream sundae. The experience of visiting Miyako was the highlight of my birthday! I was fortunate to meet Tom, the owner, who is kind, considerate and proud of his shop. And rightfully so! They have so many flavors of ice cream, from the classics to flavors from around the world! My sundae was huge, with three types of ice cream, three sauces, whipped cream, nuts and cherries. At only $5, it was a steal too! I happily tipped extra. It has convinient parking at safeway.The wait can be long but it is worth the cost of 3.95 for a Sandwich and 2 sides in SF.I recommend the pastrami sandwich.You can also buy candy and ice cream inside.I also recommend getting a poki bowl across the street if youre just stopping by for the ice cream.

I literally paid $3.50 for a hot pastrami sandwich with a side of macaroni salad and a mini portion of nachos. Not only that I received the best customer service I have encountered in a long, long while. I will be back for under $3 scoops of Mitchells ice cream very soon. Miyako has the best prices, service, and selection/flavors of old fashioned ice cream in SF. Tom, the owner and server, has owned the place for decades. He is very gracious, and will prepare your dessert to your preference, whether it be old fashioned waffle cone, shake, sundae, banana split, etc... He also makes snacks like deli sandwiches and nachos. I was pleasently surprised to find a shop this inexpensive & with this level of personal service in SF!

This place has been here over 20 years, great sandwiches and delicious ice cream in an assortment of yummy flavors. We always get a cone for the baby(now almost 4)and sometimes a sundae or banana split. They are the nicest people around. Their little parlor has candy too, a whole list of treats.
