Always my favorite true kbbq spot. Come here if you want high quality meats and lots of side dishes.Everything is seasoned well and not too sweet.Service is fast and friendly. They’ll cook for you.We did the two person beef combo and it’s a ton of food. We ended up taking the marinated beef home.There is little to no parking when they get busy. There is a lot adjacent to the building and also an extra lot opposite but both get packed quick.

Quality of the food is excellent, service is excellent. You will most likely have to wait for a table - we went on a Wednesday evening at 6 pm and waited nearly an hour for a table for 2. They offer wait list sign-up through Yelp but only accept reservations for large groups. If youve only ever done all you can eat Korean bbq, be aware that this place is more traditional - the staff will grill the meat for you and let you know when its ready to eat. This feels like a more traditional experience. Servers are very attentive and do an excellent job of offering refills of side dishes. If you get a meat combination platter, the tofu soup is delicious and spicy, and the steamed egg is somewhere in texture between a souffle and scrambled eggs.

Their bibim nangmyeon and nangmyeon are always great. Galbitang is also highly recommended. I havent been here in a long time due to extremely long wait times but now that you can use the Yelp waitlist I can go shopping nearby and not waste time standing around. Looks like they also added a permanent outdoor seating so Im sure itll help with the congestion.

Always heard about this place with best cold noodles. Place is pretty distanced from me, KTown Los Angeles. I thought it was worth the stop! I did not try the barbecue, but would love to try one day.Enough servers to be helped. Very kind. Prices are reasonable. It looked taken cared of. Pretty clean.Side dishes were good too!Loved it!

We came here for noodles without barbecue and were seated immediately. We got the no spicy cold buckwheat noodles and received a small side of spicy noodles for free! The cold noodles were really delicious. We also ordered galbi-tang (short rib soup) and seafood pancake and they were both also very delicious. I would definitely come back for the noodles and the seafood pancake!

Excellent service and food. The staff are veey friendly and helpful. Their bbq combos are reasonably priced. The mixed cold noodles are one if the best Ive tasted. Its usually really crowded, even at 3pm in the afternoon. Best bet is to go when they first open at 11am.

Have been to the place for 3-4 times for brunch and dinner. The BBQ and the cold noodles are really good; I would highly recommend trying out these!Though, the wait is pretty long, especially if you want to dine in with the BBQ… we waited for about an hour to get in a bigger party 5 adults and 1 kid; this was expected, so we were all still happy for the overall experience.

냉맨 is sooooooo delicious!!!!Dont let the Korean BBQ sign fool you, because the cold noodles take the spotlight here. The broth is delicate and clean. The noodles taste fresh and have an excellent chew, if I werent so full I wouldve ordered extra.Also ordered the mungbean pancakes which came out hot & crispy outside while fluffy and steamy inside. The kimchi tasted fresh and while it was sweeter than I prefer I will call out that it was very good. I would definitely recommend.

Part 1. I am new to the area and decided to try this place. Our waiter was very dismissive and not welcoming at all. We are a Latino couple and had questions regarding the menu and our waiter looked annoyed and did not answer our questions. The table next to us asked questions as well and yet he was answering them and being very friendly with that table. We speak perfect English, it was not a language barrier. There was another server and she was very kind and welcoming even though she was not our waitress. Food was very delicious, but the service was very poor. Naengmyeon is the reason I come here. Unlike other restaurants, Mo Ran Gak offers both mul & bibim. You can select the main and have the other as “sari” or extra noodles. The galbi was good but the sample size mung bean pancake was really good. It was nice to come back for naengmyeon.Even though I went right after the restaurant opened, there were line but the line moved fast. Since the restaurant opened there are less parking available. I was able to park at the closed real estate office parking lot next to the restaurant.

Considering the uniqueness of the location, i can give this restaurant 4 star! Having eaten many authentic 평양냉면 so called 을지, 우래옥, 필동, 을밀대, i think Mo Ran Gak is where we can easily expect the taste from any other average 평양냉면 places. Overall, not that impressive. Noodle texture is not that bad, the downside is that the sauce and broth has very strong taste to it, what is not good about eating 물 냉면 is that the broth has too much sugary taste and sour taste to it that easily can mask the original flavor from beef broth. 비빔냉면 tastes like sugar. I think most of taste here are tailored to meet needs and preferences for average US Korean Americans.

Mo Ran Gak is definitely the most popular Korean BBQ restaurant in Garden Grove. Theyre so popular that they have no need to set up a reservation system. First come, first serve, and youd better be willing to wait an hour or more, so if youre in a rush, this is not the place for you.My family and I ordered the Combination C (serves 4) and we were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of the meat. While we werent completely stuffed like we had just eaten at an AYCE KBBQ place, the quality of the meat was definitely worth the price. All of the meat was marbled very well and our waiter cooked all of our meat for us.The mool naengmyun is a bit pricey but each regular bowl comes with an additional small serving so its definitely worth the price if youre eating with a group. The flavor and style of the naengmyun is also pretty close to Pyongyang naengmyun (North Korean naengmyun). For those whove never tried Pyongyang naengmyun, the flavor and seasoning is much more subtle and underwhelming but very delicious.Waiting for over an hour to be seated definitely sucks but once youre in, the service is very good. Like I mentioned above, the waiter cooks the meat for you and will do their best to bring you whatever you might need.

Came here when this place was smaller a few years back and it was okay. Went back recently and everything improved. Only thing though is that this is NOT an AYCE. Set meals only!The quality of meat is tender and high quality and the staff service you from the moment you sit down and cater to you the entire time. They dont allow you to touch the grill at all.Definitely recommend getting the egg soup instead of the tofu if you can.

This was my first Korean barbecue experience and it was overwhelming! The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is abundant. We did end up paying around $45 per person but it was totally worth it! There is always a queue and while waiting you can grab a cup of complimentary specialty drink at the entrance. The moment you sit at the table, a broth-like soup is served in a pot with metal cups. Shortly after that, small plates of tapas-like food start rolling including soup and a steamed egg. Then the meat comes in and a staff member will take care of cooking it in front of you. The food was amazing and the experience unmissable!

We usually visit Mo Ran Gak once a year to eat with an elderly great aunt. She loves this place and so do we. We had 2 hours before boarding our flight after they open at 11 am on Sunday morning, so we came here at 10:30 am to make sure we maximized our BBQ eating time. It was a chilly morning so they offered excellent free Korean sweet cream coffee and black bean latte out of their vending machine. (It closed after they opened their doors)We signed up on their Yelp waitlist stand and sat on their wooden bench outside their entrance. We browsed through their website menu on our phone while waiting.Once our name was called, we were sat down into a booth. They promptly got us plates, utensils, water and a small tray of dipping sauces (salt with sesame oil and hot sauce)Between the four of us, we got Marinated Combo meat B for 2 that comes with a small tofu soup (soon dubu) and soft jiggly tasty steamed eggs. We also ordered the delicious marinated short ribs (Kalbi) bone-in (since we like to gnaw on the cooked ligaments on the bone afterwards) and mul naengmyeon (long al dente cold buckwheat noodles in a refreshing cold lightly sweet beef broth with small thin slices of beef, cucumbers, and pickled white Korean radish, and a half boiled egg.) You have to add the vinegar and mustard to the broth to your taste. The star of this dish is the al dente noodles and cold broth. It is quite addictive if the broth is made right.)They were generous in refilling the side dishes (banchan). Our favorites remain the well marinated softened torn dry squid, fragrant chapchae noodles and vegetables, and crunchy napa kimchi). They were giving us bonus treats like miniature bindae-tteok (delicious crispy mung bean pancake with soft beanny (?sp) insides eaten with a dipping sauce.) That was soo good!We enjoyed rolling the grilled piece of meats on our square steamed rice pasta. I added some kimchi, garlic in the roll and popped it into my mouth.The service was excellent. Alex was our major to-go staff. He was always checking on us and getting what we needed. But there were four more staff who came to cook and flip the grilling meats, getting us more iced water, banchans, and the tray of sliced garlic, jalapeños, and samjang bean sauce, and more. Together, they made a seamless eating experience of pure enjoyment.We finished eating in 48 minutes and paid by 11:55 am and out the door to SNA airport. We were satisfied and happy. Ive never seen a restaurant fill up so fast. Definitely come early if you dont like waiting. We got here about 20 minutes before they opened and there was already a waitlist started. This is my favorite Korean barbecue restaurant! I cook so much at home for my family that I dont like to cook when I go out. This is the only place I know of that servers grill the meat for you. We got marinated combination C for four people. There was five of us and it was plenty of food! Abundance of sides and sauces. We also ordered the braised short rib. That was delicious! And the pan fried seafood udon noodles. The noodles were just okay. I think it would have been better with beef instead of seafood. But overall servers are super nice and food is delicious and best part is I dont have to cook! The wait is a little long because its a popular restaurant but definitely worth the wait. Parking is a bit tricky because a lot of small you. May have to park on the street.

One of the best KBBQ in So Cal! This is the place for KBBQ and other Korean food in OC! Meat is so tender, flavorful and well balanced. Almost everything on the menu is fantastic. Complementary ban chan side dishes are delicious. We always make time to visit this place when were in OC.No reservations and wait time is long so be prepared. I personally like Korean BBQ spots where KPOP is not blasting in the background. The combo is more than enough food to feed the indicated and each meat cut was great quality.The waitress aunties are very helpful and sweet. I sat far from the grill and they noticed, placing meat on my plate for me ❤️Overall great place. Parking can be crazy in their lot due to the outside tent but they have a dedicated lot across the street from theirs you can park in as well.

I’ve been coming here for years and the Pyongyang mool nang myun is consistent and good. Things have changed a bit since COVID including the omission of the hot beef consumé they served, for free, at the beginning of the meal. It used to be so fun sipping on this beautiful broth while waiting for our food to arrive. I wouldn’t mind paying for it but they just don’t make it anymore. My bibim nang myun experience will never be the same without it. Also, the prices have skyrocketed to almost 50%. $10 dishes are now $14.70. Still a good place for a meal but not the same experience as before.

Omg. This has got to be the best Korean food on the west coast. And probably even the east coast. The seafood soondooboo and bibim naengmyun were off the charts. Felt like I was eating in Korea! My family enjoyed the beef bbq immensely as well. I visited here with my friend to have a dinner. There was too crowded so every customers had to wait for a long time. You have to visit here when you are not busy:) The good option is the extra noodles. You can order your extra noodle as a different flavor with your main order. Opened by someone who fled, North Korea. It has lots of great Korean meat choices. The pancake is also very popular (North Korean style). If you enjoy meat cuts, then this place will cater to your taste. They served a nice soupy broth weigh I first thought was tea, and it was a tasty surprise. There is an extended parking lot across the side street in case the small parking lot by the restaurant is full. Street parking is also available. They have about 5 soju selections, including fruit flavored ones like pineapple, strawberry and peach. They also serve Korean wine here.

I’d seen the reviews for this spot and decided to stop in for dinner recently. We were not disappointed! The service was warm and attentive and the food was delicious!Because we were only a party of two, they don’t offer table top grilling, but that was fine with us! The kalbi dish was so tender and delicious; it was definitely a highlight! When you order a meat dish, it comes with an array of sides and complements like kimchi, salad, and rice paper. We also ordered the cold chewy noodle dish in broth (naeng myun) and as a bonus they brought a small portion of their spicy chewy noodles!Everything was fresh and delicious. The banchan assortment was not as good as I’ve had at some other restaurants, but was certainly adequate.

I came to this restaurant for dinner for two consecutive days (29th and 30th). The 29th was about 8:20 and the last table came in and then came again on the 30th. I paid in cash for these two days, but I paid the bill on the first day. The waiter who served me was dishonest and didn’t tell me about it. The best side dish you can get is the Korean style crispy, savory pancake! Its a staple at this restaurant, please try it out ♡The fish egg stew is amazing, the eggs tender and delicious, and the soup full of flavor and spice! It was a very clean environment, the food was delicious, and their customer service was great--no wonder they have long wait lists. ( They do not take reservations--when you go in, you have to write your name on a clip board) We waited 45 minutes, but it was worth it. Met my sister here for Sunday night dinner and was not disappointed. The table side service is super wick and the staff there will grill the meat for you. You can have as much of the sides as you can stomach. We ordered the 4 person meat tray and thinking we would need more we ordered a side dish of meat. Even though we finished all the meats we were stuffed. Meat sweats for hours!!Protip: park on the residential street, do not park in the lot, its tight and people park illegally and if you care about your car you should park on the side streets and walk.It gets busy there so plan to wait during dinner time

Koreans dont live in Garden Grove like they did in the 90s, but some of the restaurants remain.If theres a reason for Koreans to go back to Garden Grove, its Mo Ran Gak.They have the best cold noodles outside of Korea period and Ive tried cold noodles in Korea.Make sure to get both the spicy and non spicy versions and get an extra smaller portion of the same noodles, which is complimentary, so you can share with your party.Beware, theres always a line. Expect a long wait during the prime hours.

We had to wait about 45 minutes to get a table at peak lunch time. The service and food were all great! We got the cold noodles, pork belly, and gom tang which were all amazing. I find it difficult to find restaurants that make cold noodles the way I used to have them in Korea but Mo Ran Gak does it as close as Ive found. We have been coming here for several years now. They always have fresh well prepared meat. Their cold noodle is by far the best in So Cal. Their staff is always friendly and responsive. Only down side is a wait time, so we usually come here around 9 p.m. and there is no wait.

It is a tough time for restaurants, but Mo Ran Gak has taken every possible precaution to ensure a safe dining experience. They have outside seating, check temperatures, and have staff safely equipped with gloves and goggles. Their food is great with high quality meats and delicious noodles. The trick is to come here 15-20 minutes before it opens, because this place is filled up pretty fast even on a weekday morning with all local people. Their cold noodle soup is legit, and plenty of side dishes. I love especially their pancakes!

We dined here last night and it was fantastic!We shared a meat combo to grill. It came with 2 meats (brisket, pork belly OR marinated prime short rib), steamed egg, tofu soup, salad, and about 8 different side dishes that included rice paper and sliced daikon.While waiting for our meats to arrive, we sipped on a warm beef soup that comes in a silver kettle. I liked it.The meats brought out were excellent. You could tell from the color and marble that its high quality stuff. The brisket was delicious and the short ribs were juicy and very tender.Service was good, however, we felt a tad rushed. Especially because they kept putting more meats on the grill when we werent really ready for more. We knew they were trying to flip tables since there were a ton of people waiting out front. They also dropped the bill before we were done and even forgot our tofu soup.All the servers were really friendly and food was delicious. Definitely a top favorite in the OC.

An authentic Korean Bbq and cold noodle varieties. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years and it is by far one of the best korean bbqs around. It gets bust quickly for lunch and dinner, so I recommend on going there early to beat an hour wait on average. I highly recommend the cold noodles.

It was honestly my favorite korean bbq experience in the US. I’ve been to a good amount of famous spots but the marinated ribs here were truly special and melted in my mouth. The side dishes were delightful, soups and egg soufflé was great. Service is fine, but with the restaurant being busy, it wasn’t as attentive as I wished. But overall, I can’t wait to return when I’m in Southern California.

What a great place to have excellent Korean BBQ. Service was excellent. The waiters and waitresses work as a team. If one is busy another will pick up the slack. Its a very busy place too. When we first arrived there, we had to sign in and sit on the benches outside the restaurant waiting for our name to be called. Once inside you had a menu that gave you lots of ways to order your food. A la cartel or in a combo meat pkg. We chose the unmarinated prime meat pkg for 4 people . Omg the food is delicious and the meat they use is very tasty. Once you order, the condiments come out and you get your choice of soup. On your table you also have a teapot of hot beef broth. Omg It was so flavorful and so good to drink. I think I almost drank the whole pot by myself. Everything from the condiments to the meat everything was so very fresh and delicious. The waitress and waiter will cook your meat for you. It comes out perfect. Highly recommend this place for excellent quality of food and service.

My family waited over 1 hr even though we visited around 8 pm as there were so many people. It was so late and crowd, but all staffs were very kind and tried to their best to serve the guests and maintain the cleanness. Food was great, (especially Bibim Nangmyeon=-비빔냉면 & Seasoned Crab/side dish-양념게장), and staffs were so kind. We ate meat also, but ordered fresh meat(not seasoned), so I cant comment about the seasoned meat.

Been coming here for years and always get the same food, even though I should try other items on the menu. Spicy chicken is my favorite dish that I get all the time. Also, the nengmyun is the best that I’ve ever tried, the noodles are just on another level. The brisket has marbling that other kbbq spots don’t have. Finally, the side dishes are top notch, you can tell the difference from other restaurants. At the end, there’s free coffee too. Can’t beat the service and quality of the food. The restaurant deserves more praise than I get give!

10/10 would recommend. Its not all you can eat and the its a little bit more pricey than other places but its all worth it. The meat is seasoned to perfection and isnt heavy on your tastebuds, it melts in your mouth and the service there is very good as well. They are all very attentive and make sure your table is fully stocked of side dishes, tea, and water. Also I can tell they appreciate it if you try and speak Korean. Simple terms like saying hello, thank you, or this is delicious in Korean just shows them you not only appreciate the food, but also the culture/language. On another note, does anyone know what that Korean tea they give out for free is called? Its absolutely delicious!

When you get there the restaurant looks clean and the service is great. The food tasted good. However before my husband and I finished eating we both started feeling sick. Right after we left both my husband and I threw up. We were so sick we couldnt even drive. Its been 2 days and my husband is still suffering from food poisoning.

Best Korean BBQ in the US. If you are looking for AYCE this is not for you but should still try. From quality seasonal banchans to quality meats to excellent naengmyeon(they claim North Korea style but its really closer to South Korea style) this is the place for authentic Korean BBQ minus the real charcoal fire pit you get in Korea. No pictures of celebrities on the wall(like some KTown BBQ places) and dont need it as this place is always packed and with long lines. I dont want the lines to get any longer but highly recommended!!

The staff are extremely attentive and pretty much cook the meat and everything for you. This place can get pretty crowded so there is usually a wait. A family favorite location for dinner for the past 10 years.Many people line up for the BBQ but we always get the spicy octopus fried rice, the spicy cold noodle, the seafood pancake, and the steamed pork.Weekday waits are short — 0-15 min. Prepare to wait at least 30 min on the weekend.
