It was an early Sunday morning and I was in search of some breakfast and coffee. Nothing was open at the time except for this place. I really like the feel of this place. The staff really seem to genuinely enjoy their job. From cooking, to serving, to speaking with customers, theyre really welcoming. They are also efficient with getting your order in and getting your check to you. The food tasted like a home cooked meal and the serving size was filling (see photos). All in all I enjoyed my experience and recommend checking it out for your breakfast needs.

This place is horrible.The pancakes look good but have no taste. The grits taste like boiling water. The fried red snapper was fried too tough. There is no way I would eat here ever again. The service was nice but not well enough to make up for the food. And this place came highly recommended by the locals, I cant get with it.

I have only visited this place a few times for breakfast but I find the servers to be very attentive. This time I tried the spinach omelette, grits, sourdough toast and green tea. The food was initially bland so I added some hot sauce and presto changeo I ate it all. My husband had the red snapper breakfast and liked how the fish felt home cooked. I did like looking at the pictures on the wall in the short time I had to wait for my food.

My friend says theyre known for their breakfast, but Ill have to try that another time. Sesting is sort of limited, but there us a counter right next to where theyre cooking. I had the pastrami sandwich which was very good. Also tried the chicken wings which were better than most Ive had elsewhere. Tender on the inside with a light crunch on the outside, they were whole wings which is unusual on todays restaurant menus, they were basically seasoned with salt without any other noticeable flavor so I could have used some hot sauce for dipping, but I didnt ask. That will wait for the next time Im in the area.

The restaurant is a dive. Food is ok..Ive been going there for 27 years. They get quite a bit of business which puzzles me as to why they havent gotten a bigger place.Down side...small, parking can be a challenge. One this last visit, I ordered a coke which was delivered in a can, which meant no refills.

I didnt like the old look of the inside. I feel like the owners can update a few things on the inside to make the diner more comfortable. The waiter was a Hispanic lady who seemed to be really busy. She was ok. Couldve been better I felt a little attitude. The food was alright. I wasnt really happy with my chicken sausage and I didnt like the fact that my bell peppers were poorly chopped they were super big. My eggs were cold and the waiter never gave refills. My french toast was horrible I hated it. As I am grateful for my daily bread and my community, people should welcome others with a smile. Los Angeles community needs a lot of unity and humbleness to the people in the community. The only way to fix that problem is individuals in the community work on bettering themselves and when in a public setting, smile. Having a frown on your face can send the wrong message to someone. Dont get wrapped up in your own thoughts and spill bad energy in our communities. I did not take any pictures I had my kids with me and was trying to hurry up out of there. My bill came out to 61 dollars and honestly I was really upset I spent it. Next time Ill cook myself some food at home.

My friend and I ate breakfast here. It definitely feels like an establishment in the neighborhood--the clientele were all POCs (us included). The portions were huge! Some vegetarian options, such as the spinach omelette and vegetable omelette, maybe there were others too. We had good service, and didnt have any service problems others have described.

Best breakfast spot in the area if you’re looking for a great starter meal that’s inexpensive! My absolute favorite, chicken sausage!! 🤤🤤🤤 Grits are spectacular! I was not happy with the service or the food I complained about my fish and they wanted to take it off the bill. The bill was $35 after you took the fish off it went to $32. So I said the fish only cost three dollars. I asked for the owner again he never came so I went to him we didn’t get Eye 2 Eye on this bill so I walked away. So oh wait I came back with the bill and that was $30. No I will not recommend this spot

I showed up after being informed by phone call that 8 tables were available. Upon arriving, 6-7 4-person tables had 1 person occupying the space and the counter completely open. I was told I had to wait. The place also had a bad smell of not being regularly or thoroughly cleaned.

I had an extremely poor experience trying Mobys for the first time. We ordered food for Mother’s Day and paid via Postmates they took $60.00 from us and made my husband wait over an hour for pickup. When my husband asked about the order the Asian worker called the police. He waited for them to come and the police did nothing to my husband. He ignored him when he walked in and called the police when he asked for help. Racist. Disgusting, and disrespectful staff. I’m overwhelmed by how nasty the staff was. This was our first time walking in the door and the very last. We are currently looking for attorneys to look into our case.

Good food, great even, but the customer service is so horrible that no one should go there. My friend and I were treated poorly and left unattended often. Both of us were from out of town and had no cash for a tip. Additionally they provided no tip line on the credit card receipt. We wanted to tip, but were not given an option to do so. We felt bad but it was an inexpensive meal that poorly served so we let it go. As soon as we stood up multiple servers started harassing us about a tip.....loudly. I calmly explained the situation. They preceded to tell us they could charge the card again for a tip. My friend said ok and gave them the card. The head server then said ok, $10 tip? (it was a $23 meal). He was guilted into a $5....which was still way too much for such awful service. Dont waste your time. Food is good but nothing singular, and people who treat their customers that way should be out of business.

They took my favorite plate from them (salmon croquettes) off the menu for some reason, and everything else is just average, simple things that just about anyone can whip up at home themselves... and they would have gotten 3 stars, had it not been for how the waitresses put a check in front of you before you even dig into your food; it makes me feel rushed (and even unwelcome)!! But the worst part about this place is the wait to get some average ole bacon n eggs, lol! This place is always super crowded, especially on Sundays (church goers spot). This is a great place to come and eat good Southern breakfast. My friend and I came on a Sunday morning and the service was the normal. Food was great only part is that the waitress never came and offered extra napkins, asked if we needed water or the normal hospitable things that restaurants do. Funny thing is she expected a tip and told us after we paid with cards that it doesnt include the tip. Then had the audacity to leave the tip plate on the table and come back and tap it. But couldnt even order a to go plate. Give the proper service to our community and stop expecting tips, your tip is our service.

Honestly this is the worst place to eat. If you wish to enjoy a meal without being disrespected this is not the place. They need new employees because the waitresses will always look down on you. My father loves this place because of the food but every time hes come with my mother and younger sibling the waitresses harass them because they dont order more. I had not experienced this until today. I went to try the place out with my family and my mother only ordered two big plates and a stack of pancakes with some drinks but the waitresses didnt like that we each didnt get our own plate and began to scream out loud in front of the whole place saying that we need to order more and then also went to tell us to not dine in. I understand the place gets full but we were waiting for more than half an hour before getting seated and this was very insensitive from their part. People should learn to respect one another they dont know what the circumstance a family may be going through and all my family wanted to do was a get a good breakfast meal and not be disrespected the way we were.

Now, the food is decent. I like the Cafe environment. But, what I dont like is the customer service and how they make you feel like youre obligated to TIP them for standard service pay attention. The food was average, however as I was eating and drinking the my last bit of food and water a waitress put the check in front of me and stood there waiting for me to pay. I told her to give me a moment and let me finsh. She didnt get it, but left for a moment and then came back and told me to wanted to close the tab. I was there less than 30 minutes in total, no one was waiting on my seat, and there wasnt a shift change for the staff. The waitress was Asian and I think there was a cultural difference thing happening here. Whatever it was it made me feel uncomfortable and I feel like they lack customer service. Mobys is a ma & pa shop among breakfast diners. The food looks more home cooked than standard plating youd see at others like IHOP, Dennys, and the like. It tastes great in my opinion with my favorite irregular -one I do not often see at other restaurants- is the Corned Beef Hash. You can really taste the fat in the meat and mixed with rice or hasbrowns, you cannot go wrong.I feel an unappreciated factor of the restaurant is the ambiance. The music choice is good family friendly tunes that does have swing, blues, jazz, and a small handful of popular sings for another era. The music is never overpowering unless youre used to whispering all the time. Not to mention it gives people inside an idea of how loud they are. If they cannot hear the music slightly over themselves, then theyre too loud. From experience, Ive never had a nearby family or group be incredibly rowdy, even during high time. Besides the usual ankle biter with grits on the face, crying about their dropped spoon.The only downside comes with the M.O. of the diner; being breakfast only, the hours are notably short. With it is a small time window that you and everyone else will be aiming for. Plus... I dont recall the exact amount of seats but Im pretty sure its in the 40-55 range for people. Id discourage groups above 6 or youll be waiting a long time for multiple tables, albeit the staff are very quick.By the way, parking is tricky since you cannot park in the 7-11 parkway nearby and the restaurant is right on the street. There should be a spot besides the music store to the left of Mobys. Few in the number but worth the twenty second walk to the entrance.

I like this place. Its your typical diner except I think its Korean owned, so you have the typical service/setup you would get in a Korean restaurant.Ex. There are about three waitresses working all the tables so you can pretty much ask any of them for something. And they all help each other out. Or, theres a station in the middle of the restaurant with condiments, napkins, to go boxes.. everything you would need for quick cleaning and set up for the next customer.The restaurant was small but it could handle a lot of people. There are even a few seats at the counter.my only advice is to wear clothes you dont mind smelling like the kitchen since its an open kitchen ..so when you leave you can smell the food on you.These guys were pretty nice, and the food was good. it seems the popular dish here is the catfish. Ill probably order that next time.Also their pancakes were super fluffy. You could almost make it into a bed and jump into it.Ill be back!parking: Street parking and theres a area you can park at but you cant get to it if youre going East on Manchester. youll have to turn on Crenshaw and then come up through the back of the store. Or just park in front. Theres metered parking in front too. I think it was free when we went last time.
