The level of service at the beach is outstanding. The best at the whole resort. Brody and Ashton are professional, personable and great at anticipating guests needs. They also had great suggestions for restaurants in the area having grown up in Laguna.

From the moment I checked in, I knew I was in for a remarkable experience at this hotel. We celebrated my moms birthday weekend at the Montague and it could not have chosen a better spot. The rooms and location of the resort are absolutely gorgeous but it is the staff that makes this place so special. Amanda helped my mom get set up in the perfect room. All of our servers at the pools and restaurants were amazing, accommodating and so sweet, especially Ashton, Jonah, Julia and Breanna. We are already looking forward to our next day.
I just go to the spa and it is the most incredible experience. Robe and sandals, refreshments, hot tub, ice plunge, steam bath, sauna, cold face towels. The pool view is unmatched and the frose is one of my favorite cocktails! I don’t like any blended drinks but this is the one exception, it’s also nice and strong
The Montage is off the charts amazing..Ashton and Brody were wonderful host at the beach club. These two gentleman were attentive and kind..They treated us like family and made our stay extra special.I have all faith these two gentlemen will be running the Montage after college graduation! We always enjoy this property. Even if it is just for an afternoon of drinks at the outdoor bar/ restaurant. Service is always top notch as you would expect, and they have a great menu with variety! The views are always spectacular and worth it. This is definitely one of our favorites for lunch, late lunch, and happy hour.
My sister and I had an incredibly memorable stay at the Montage Laguna. The accommodations were amazing. We found the beds to be so comfortable! The staff delivered beyond our expectations. They were genuine in their interactions and were so attentive. We can’t recommend this property enough. I’d like to give an extra special shout-out to Breanna and Vince who made our pool experience top-notch. We will absolutely return and will tell everyone we know about our stay, thank you THANK YOU!
This is the closest hotel to Laguna Beach. There is free tea and coffee in the morning at the hotel lobby bar, and free self-service refills. Everything is very good, except that it is expensive. The room decoration is nothing to evaluate. It is an ordinary resort hotel, and the bed is relatively soft., a unique geographical location
Probably the most spectacular view around that area. Did not get a room but just walked around the area. Absolutely fantastic many restaurants and places to eat. Did I mention the view spectacular

I hate leaving bad reviews but I feel a responsibility to share what happened to me so that hopefully no one else has to experience what I did. I had a bad experience at Montage Laguna Beach in 2020.As a gift for my college graduation, my partners mom gifted us a two night stay at the hotel and a couples massage. Id never been to a spa that luxurious before so it was a real treat. I was incredibly excited for my stay and treatment.However when I got to the spa, there were all these influencers in the womens spa CHANGING ROOM, sauna, showers and jacuzzi with their phones out RECORDING. Literally in every room of the spa there was a person with their phone out, posing, taking selfies, photos, videos, etc. Did I mention this was in areas of the spa where nudity is acceptable and expected? Nobody gave me the memo though that I should have brought a bathing suit to the spa because literally no area is safe from being recorded! I could not relax or enjoy my time during my service. I went to the front desk to tell them what was going on. They offered to give me a disposable bathing suit and talk to the women with their phones out, but it did not help. Multiple women continued to take selfies and videos in the changing room and have a photoshoot in the jacuzzi area of the womens spa.Additionally, I was the only POC at the spa, and MULTIPLE TIMES was confused for the spa staff instead of a fellow guest. It was a humiliating and awful experience.Other microaggressions I experienced were when sitting in the outdoor jacuzzi with my partner, a man repeatedly asked me invasive questions; aggressively asking me for my ethnicity, my age, and where are you REALLY from?Some positives: I have nothing but praise for the private couples massage itself. The care of the massage therapists was incredible. They created a calming, relaxing, restorative environment for my partner and I.It was very unfortunate that the other guests I encountered while staying at the Montage hotel and spa- the lack of privacy, the feeling of being constantly recorded, the breach of privacy in the changing room, and the multiple instances of racism I experienced- soured my stay, to say the least.
My husband found Montage Laguna Beach 14 years ago, and weve been coming ever since.Service is amazing, location is amazing, atmosphere is serene.But I have to give a shout-out to the SPA! Shelley and the team are so friendly and helpful...they make it a pleasure to visit. And OMG, I love my massage therapist Peggy. We cannot wait to go back. :)
Lovely spot. Started with drinks overlooking the pool. Jennifer was delightful. So sweet and thoughtful...she made us feel at home. Shes a keeper! Drinks were fabulous too.
Great beach to go to. Its said you cant park across the street for beach parking, but people do it anyway and nothing really happens. Clean beach, great breeze and cute sea lions to watch from the distance. Perfect little cubby hole to escape to
Took the family to dinner at the loft and everything we had was beyond what I expected. Not only was the food perfect but the atmosphere and the service were equally good. Cant wait to go back!
This property is absolutely magnificent. Therefore, a default of two stars. Unfortunately they use this as a built-in model and forget about Service (and I’m pretty forgiving in this area!) If you don’t like to wait for things bags, car, food, drinks, this is not the place for you. You will spend hours waiting for anything, and every request you feel like you’re inconveniencing them! This is not based on one experience but 4 with repeated results. Also, multiple friends of ours have very similar stories. This ‘luxury’ hotel with a ‘luxury’ price needs to act like it. Look elsewhere, go for lunch or to the beach - stay somewhere else. I recommend Pelican Hill based on extremely amazing property and service! Never a bad experience.Hope this helps!

Over Labor Day weekend, my wife and I attended a wedding at the hotel. We live local so were only there for the day, but it took over half hour to arrive at the front door and we felt we were some kind of circus environment, not a luxury wedding. The valets even told us that it may be easier to park elsewhere an Uber as it may take awhile to get our car later in the day!
We had a great stay at the beautiful location, and Olga at the front desk is particularly delightful and helpful. The massage was wonderful, too -- I highly recommend their spa services! The location is just spectacular.
So, I’ve stayed a a couple of nice hotels. The Montage, upon arrival to departure was as warm as it comes. All the employees were friendly. They would stop, say hi and let you pass. They provided several waters a day??? What? They didn’t even sell $20 bottles in the room. So, dang nice! RoomCleaning catered to everything. Cleaned sun glasses, laid out slippers, chocolates book markers, Davis Allen Baker DAB played great music at night. Poolside Elias and Chloe were awesome. Nice mustache Elias👍! Great walk on the clean, in crowded beach with my woman. I’m The only damper, I was here on biz, was about thirty minutes of the private dinner the first night was spent with the group of successful businessmen griping about $50 margaritas. I was shamed into not ordering one. Seems pricey. All else spot on! Oh, the gym, forget about it! The best hotel gym except for one other and that’s a tie!
This is only a review of the pop up restaurant Talay Thai Kitchen, not the hotel. The hotel is wonderful and the spa is outstanding. Strongly recommended.Talay: They have a few vegan options and they are great, the soup is absolutely amazing, but unfortunately the vegan side of the table was served food that contains animals body parts and was told it was vegan. This is absolutely unacceptable. People who care about ethics had animal parts inside their mouth when they dedicate their lives to saving other sentient beings lives. You will probably not understand how that makes someone feel but its something that should never happen.
Excellent location, excellent service, fantastic views.The proximity to the ocean is relaxing, deionizing and refreshing. Many rooms have a balcony. The bed and pillows were so comfortable that I had to look up the brand and buy my own.Montage deserves the praise as one of the top hotels in socal.
If I’m the area this is a must see. We did not stay at the hotel but did visit the bar. Excellent food, service and drinks. Plan to revisit and stay at the hotel.

Upon arriving We were greeted and well taken care of by Cooper the valet. Cooper made us feel very welcome and ensured us that we made the right choice of staying at The Montage Luguna Beach! The Beach was amazing and memory was everlasting!!
The waiters were good, it took a while when were were waiting for service, but we enjoyed the beautiful beach view.
We did not stay overnight here, but came for Sunday brunch and to walk around. It is a gorgeous resort with impeccable grounds and service. Beautiful landscaping and a wonderful sidewalk above the cliffs/coast with benches to sit and take it all in. We ate at one of the restaurants on site with great views and good food. They validated our valet parking which was nice.

TLDR; Staff stole our jewelry during our wedding weekend, management did not call us back after the theft. It’s been two weeksMy wife and I stayed here during our wedding weekend. After my wife left the suite, someone came in and took a diamond necklace, a diamond ring, and cash out of a hidden bag. Staff must have gone through our personal belongingsWe understand we should have used a safe to house jewelry, but on our wedding day we forgot (and there was a lot going on) and didn’t assume a place with such a high reputation would succumb to that standard.Do not recommend.

Friend and I came to this place by accident. She was looking for the castle and gps showed at Victoria Beach but the gps stopped us here.Parked on PCH, walked thru the resort just following the sign to the public beach behind the resort.It was an awesome discovery!Enjoyed many angles of sceneries and the victorian resort exterior designs.Will definately book a getaway one day after we stumbled upon this magnificent place.As of now, the castle is known as Pirate Tower and its another drive to it.Off to that tower!

Can only speak for trying to book an appointment with the spa. They messed up my date they booked it and when I called them to tell them that they messed up they acted like they didn’t believe me and made me send the email saying it had the right date on it. So then I canceled my actual appointment. Horrible customer service for a hotel that cost over 1000 dollars a night.

He truly makes my experience memorable at Montage.I would highly recommend locals to visit Montage for a great dining experience. The lobby is also amazing, especially when they have live music, which is almost every night. The ambiance is perfect for a relaxing evening with friends or loved ones.Overall, I would definitely recommend Montage to everyone, including locals. The views are stunning, the service is exceptional, and the food is fantastic. Whether youre visiting for a special occasion or just a nice dinner, Montage is the perfect spot. After tying the knot at Laguna Montage, my beloved and I were blown away by the remarkable experience we had. The level of service and accommodation we received during our honeymoon stay was exceptional, and it genuinely felt like we were the only guests present. It was such a fantastic experience that we made a pact to visit every Montage resort. Thus far, we have had the pleasure of exploring four of their resorts, and each one has provided a customized and unforgettable experience that aligns with the quality of their brand. My wife, who is very selective about spas, adores the Montages spa. Our children also have a soft spot for the Montage, as they are always given a complimentary gift and are catered to with utmost care. We were even pleasantly surprised when a staff member offered to sanitize and wash our kids bibs and bottles when they saw us doing it by hand. It seems that every staff member has been trained to go above and beyond to cater to us, and we are always left feeling incredibly satisfied with our stays. We are passionate about the Montage brand and what it represents.
Me and my dad just got in last night, the valet was perfect, we drove up from San Francisco and weren’t keen on hauling all our stuff to the room. The service we didn’t even ask they just did it, it was super! The room is great as well, you can really hear the ocean. It’s definitely worth while, this is the elegance and class.

Montage doesnt really need any more five star reviews, but Ill write one anyway. The hotel is beautiful, clean and the staff is exceptional. What youre really going for, though, is the location which is simply stunning. My wife and I love this place!
I walked through the outside gardens with the oceanview. The vista is spectacular and the venue would be perfect for any formal event.
Service was great, I dont think there is a bad room in this resort. Private beech access, beautiful pool. The grounds are well kept, the flowers are beautiful, and the trees are well trimmed
What a gorgeous place. It was an amazing time here at Laguna Beach and the Montage is an incredible hotel. The food was amazing and the bar was great. The folks were very helpful. We came at a time where it was a hot streak so the building and room was hot. The air conditioners don’t work well, but 99% of the time you don’t need them due to the great weather in Laguna Beach. I highly recommend this place if you are vacationing in this area or just want to have a weekend getaway.

I personally just went for breakfast, but the location and service was impeccable!! It was casual and elegant all at the same time! The food was amazing and I think my favorite part was the fact that they came by with freshly baked banana bread squares for each person, including my 7 month old baby

The location is beautiful- the stretch of beach this hotel sits on is stunning. The rooms are okay, but a little surprising for what youre paying. Very tiny shower and slippery floors in the bathroom. I found that the young members of staff were very accommodating, attentive, and kind, while some older ones were cold or snobby or outright ignored me. I have fashion colored hair and I think thats the biggest reason for that. Overall it was okay, just not amazing for what youre paying.

We had my daughters birthday by dining at your Loft restaurant, the experience was so very disappointing . Your waiter staff was lacking knowledge and common sense... one of our oder was not given to the kitchen so she had to wait while the rest of us ate, had to ask for every little thing that should haven been on the table, the food was tasteless and dry .... in a word horrible. Had to change chairs because they had loose legs.... i really hated paying for such a disappointing experience for a resort that is known in such high regards.... i guess not anymore!

This was our first time staying at Montague Laguna Beach and will definitely not be our last. We had an amazing experience. The staff goes above and beyond with absolutely everything from valet, to the restaurant, front desk, the spa, pool attendants, and room attendants. Everyone here makes it their mission to provide a wonderful customer experience. We ended up extending a day because we didn’t want to leave. The grounds are well kept and you can see they take pride in all areas of the property. Their private beach is stunning and just a short walk from the rooms. I’m already looking forward to our next trip here.

We spent 4 nights at the Montage. The place was wonderful, clean and relaxing pace. It was a perfect quiet vacation that we wanted. The room was clean and it smelled good. We appreciated the little things. They had a lady that came out with different animals at the pool. The day we found out about her, she had a hawk that scared away some birds. They also had live music on the pool and it was really nice. The beach was almost empty and the place feels really high end. The food was also great. The staff was kind and nice and the valet would get our cars out very fast. We never had to wait long on anything. Had a great time and will come back soon.

The best room service of all time. That department hits it out of the park! Really enjoyed my high tea experience. Loved my stay and would definitely return. Felt like my room/bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner and paying to park when you are a guest is annoying because it is not cheap on top of an already expensive room.

No age or racial bias that my partner and I have experienced in the past at resorts, just kindness, patience, and attention to detail. The view is breathtaking, peaceful, and colorful. The beaches are clean and not overpopulated. The rooms are clean and meticulously designed, and the tech & COVID friendly way they have their menus the remote set up is pretty innovative. The concierge knows what they’re doing and will make whatever accommodations happen. In love with this place; will be absolutely returning.

Gorgeous beach front location. Magnificent views. All the staff is so kind and friendly. They really work hard to go above and beyond to make your stay as perfect as possible. We loved all the little extra touches the staff did to make our stay memorable.Parking is expensive as well as daily resort fees but it is a 5 star hotel so this is to be expected.The hotel shuttle service is helpful to avoid difficult parking in Laguna. It wasn’t available at the time we needed but was a good option.The bed is very soft but our mattress was uneven so slightly uncomfortable. The toilet room has an odd shuttered door so you can see out. I think a regular solid door would be a better option.All in all though, a very fabulous stay!! The ocean view can’t be beat and it feels very secluded from the hustle and bustle of Laguna.

Food:. Many choices. The sashimi appetizer I ordered was fresh and tasteful.I sampled other sushi rolls which were equally good.For my entree, I ordered the Mongolian beef. It had a good amount of beef and the flavor was very good. I tried the Szechuan scallops. It was a bit too sweet and squishy for me.My dessert was the green tea ice cream. It was perfect ending to my meal. A single scoop with excellent flavor and texture.Service:. Excellent. Taylor eaa very kind, attentive and knew the menu well. She provided some amazing choices which my group doing was helpful and on point.Venue:. Low lit. Comfortable.Overall experience:. Wonderful. Great service and satisfying food stood out. New favorite. Already looking forward to going there again.

Spa reservation was so relaxing and way over due.....the lovely young lady Brittany was great and provided outstanding service. Definitely a hotel to consider for anyone who would like to visit Laguna Beach in California.
I cycle from North Long Beach to here regularly and have had lunch and appetizers at the lobby lounge but have not stayed overnight (yet) so I cant speak on the rooms but I bet they are very nice.
Wonderful!!! What a treat. It ticks all the boxes. Rooms are great with comfy beds, food is fantastic, super staff and service and the ocean view is breathtaking!!
My wife and I celebrated our 43rd anniversary here at the Loft restaurant. The waiter was attentive, informative, and enjoyable to speak with. The coffee encrusted steak was amazing. We have been here several times, and will continue to celebrate here. The views of the Pacific Coast are what brings people to California.
We recently had dinner at the Ecology Center, in San Juan Capistrano, one of Montages popup dinner offerings. The whole experience was fantastic. Upon leaving we were given a take-home bag; inside the sack was a bag of homemade granola. Not just any granola! This granola was made up of dried fruits, toasted seeds, quinoa and rice, and other flavors that ignited your palette; truly delicious and addictive. We ended up eating the whole bag and fighting over the second. As soon as the weekend came, we drove to the Montage to purchase more; but we soon learned that it was a special recipe not for sale or on the menu. Our waitress, Madison went to ask Chef Benjamin Martinek if he could help us find this amazing granola because she had never heard of it. He came out from the kitchen with two bags! I cant express to you enough how special this gesture made us feel. Chef Benjamin and Madison both epitomize what hospitality is all about! We felt like VIPs! However, when these bags are gone, I dont know what we will do! The culinary department at Montage continues to surprise us with creative combinations and fresh organic ingredients!
Hotel is in a beautiful location!It’s nicely kept, clean rooms & clean bathrooms. Very nice staff! We never encountered a bad staff member. It was really quite remarkable. Every one is isin a happy good mood. Turn down service is such a nice touch.Only thing that I would recommend for the front desk is to let their guests know that they need to set up either a taxi or some sort of car service to take them back to the airport. It is a desert over therethere are no taxis and no Ubers around.We were unaware of this and got an Uber that ended up adding more and more time in the end not being able to take us at all, asking the guys at the front door to help us out.Cullen I believe was his name called for a taxi, (thank you Cullen!) but that took about 20 minutes for the taxi to arrive and we raced over to the airport, which was quite frightening. When we got there, we had to beg people in the security line for us to cut in front of them and we were the last people to get on the plane. That changed our relaxing weekend to a very stressful end.This has never happened to us and we travel around the world, just coming off a trip to London & Paris the month before.Really helpful if they would’ve just told us that because it was our very first time in Laguna Beach. It seems like there’s a lot of regulars that come there and maybe they just forgot to mention it.So wonderful hotel, would definitely recommend. Just make sure to set up a car to come get you at a specific time because it is a desert out there:)
Stayed here for our honeymoon, they upgraded our room which was very spacious and comfortable and had a wonderful ocean view. They also gave us a bottle of Champaign and a charcuterie board and chocolates to help us celebrate. Our whole stay was wonderful and all of the employees we interacted with were extremely kind and professional and helpful. Can’t wait to come back.
This was our first visit to Montage Laguna Beach. The atmosphere and hospitality was phenomenal. We had magnificent beach/ocean views. Carolyn and I are so elated with the professionalism and courtesy that the staff had shown us. This is the best Resort we have stayed in our life. We will definitely be back. My wife, kids and I love this property. From the moment you park and see the beautiful blue ocean, this resort really takes your breath away. My wife and I have celebrated birthdays, our engagement, children on the way, and many other occasions including New Years Eve here. The staff is always friendly, upstairs there is a large entertainment area expansive panoramic views of the ocean.Its a great place to hang out with family and friends, use the resort facilities including the pool and spa and take walks along the ocean.The loft restaurant as well as the outdoor restaurant downstairs have both been very nice places to enjoy a meal. Because we live just minutes away - I cannot give a review with regard to the rooms or staying at the hotel.Highly recommended.
Spa Montage is truly a little slice of Heaven in Laguna Beach! From the staff, to the services and amenities, to the oceanfront location...incredible! Ive had facials, couples and single massages, and used their gym facilities. Each experience has been relaxing, rejuvenating, and exactly what you would expect from a Montage Spa! The front desk greets you with welcome smiles, the check-in process is seamless, and the lounge attendants quickly make you feel at home! The aestheticians and massage therapists are experienced, accommodating, and pleasant to interact with! The overall so facilitates are fantastic as well! The steam room, dry sauna, jacuzzi...gorgeous! Not to mention, the oceanfront outdoor lap pool! If you are visiting or live in the neighborhood, treat yourself to a special day at Spa Montage...the experience is worth every penny!
This place is epic!!! Every detail was thought out and amazing! Came to celebrate my boyfriends 50th and everybody went above and beyond. If you’re looking for a true experience, just stay here!!! Ricky in reservations, Jack in valet and everything in between was abaolutely epic!
This resort should win a gold medal for the service they provided! They were very proactive and did all they could to ensure we had an amazing stay. The resort is stunning! There are beautiful ocean views throughout the hotel, when you first step into the lobby and your room its all that you can see! The beds are extremely comfortable, it was hard leaving them in the morning. The room is spotless and provides a calm atmosphere. The breakfast and dinner at the Loft was delicious. If I could give this a 10 star rating I would! I am definitely a Montage fan and will plan trips to stay at their other locations.
Amazing 5-star experience! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. You cant beat the view either... all the rooms face out to the ocean. The food is delicious, the spa is top notch - and when you pair these with California weather then this becomes a must-try-this option at some point in your life.
I travel for a living and have stayed in dozens of resorts all across the country. I tend to hate resorts, but this is honestly the first one of any kind that I was actually impressed by. I tend to hate how resorts cut you off from the unique life of an area and then charge exorbitant prices for food and services only justified by a nice room with a decent view.The Montage doesn’t do that. First off they are close enough to laguna beach you actually feel connected to the town. Then they’re service and overall quality is so impressive and natural that someone like me (who hates to being doted on) felt comfortable and relaxed.The devil is in the details and The Montage executed them so well they likely hired actual exorcist. Things like quality dimmers on most lights, an analog bedside clock to avoid the annoying bright clock light, and a soft throw blanket so you can bundle up while sitting on the deck or in the room just to make your stay more cozy, a beautiful jewelry case for my wife’s items, actual glassware and coffee cups so you feel like a human. Just an overall thoughtfulness in every detail that makes the high dollar price tag make senseOf course the big ticket items were worth the admission. The view from every window is breathtaking. The grounds are gorgeous with lots of winding paths and vista points to sit and admire creation. They even ensured that all the villas in the center had beautiful roof materials that varied enough in design and look to help enrich the view from the hotel.I can’t go on enough.I have stayed in many expensive rooms and quite a few that share their name with a buttery cracker. But the Montage showed me what a truly excellent hotel experience is like. 5 stars.
Superior level hotel and gorgeous views in every angle. Exceptional front staff who are well attuned to your needs. Olga is very kind and helpful. Phenomenal cleaning staff who are dedicated. Valet staff could be better. They walk past you without acknowledging you. Daily, hotel customers are confused on whos is being served and who isnt. But overall a great hotel with a very peaceful relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend and we would stay here again.

Wow. Such a beautiful hotel with even more beautiful people that work there. Every single person that helped us was spectacular. Always a smile on their face and so knowledgeable about everything. We never wanted to leave! This hotel is so family and pet friendly. Our 18 month old loved his stay we will be back thanks for the memories Montage!!

My friend and I had a very pleasant dinner and a proper apology for my negative experiences. Ive updated my star rating to reflect their laudable effort and would give them another chance in the future!--------------------------------------Every time I have come here, something has gone wrong.. from our order coming out with a big pile of an ingredient we are allergic to (despite our dietary restrictions being communicated both verbally and in writing), to one of the service staff blatantly ignoring me and talking to my white-passing friend instead, which made everyone uncomfortable.I would typically give this type of experiences a 2-star at best but one of the service staff, Kristy, was so phenomenal and made the dining experience positive. The view is great and the afternoon tea is fine, but definitely request Kristy as your server if you have any important guests in your party so nothing goes wrong.
Nice little beach for outing. Shore is little filled with small rocks but the place is beautiful and you can see a nice sunset.
Such a beautiful hotel with everything you could ask for including an unforgettable view of the ocean from the room. This is a must do and will do. Staff was great, pool was very comfortable. Beach ⛱️ had private service for umbrellas and other requests.
The SPA is amazing. Also, the outdoor pool bar is amazing and they make killer mojitos Ive stayed here many times and its wonderful. A beautiful resort. 💯 One of the most spectacular locations on Earth.
Gorgeous beach area, nice customer service, though the food could be much better tasting and quality for the price, and such a fancy hotel. The side salad was a bit too small and dry on the edges, also lacked the dressing. I wasnt asked what kind of dressing I wanted, and it was not on the side. The vegetarian burger pâté was okay, but I dont recall any tomatoes, and other vegetables than the lettuce, and it was a vegetarian burger on top of it. We love veggies! The condiments were hardly noticeable, I had to order extra mustard, and I am not a condiment crazy person, but I hate a dry burger. I still am not sure if I have seen and had a tomato slice in it. Quality ingredients are also expected, such as high pectin tomatoes that has some flavor other than water and sourness, if any would be in it, and not dry lettuce for a $30 burger! I cant say the value was there for the price, only the service and the view. I have been around the world in many high end hotels, and must say, choosing and acquiring quality ingredients is the responsibility of the chef. It is not just a fast food joint such as Jack in the box etc. should resemble the prestige one expects at such bar/restaurant at high end location for this price.
We had a drink in the lobby. Nice views. Service is good . The price for drink a little high. Inside lobby furnitures kinda classy and perfect . But in balcony all things together, no organized perfectly, no privacy.
Wow! Had an amazing time at the Montage! Best resort in Laguna beach. Incredible views from every angle of the hotel. Since the moment you walked in you sense joy and peace. Beverly at the front desk checked us in and walked us to our room, she was so sweet and welcoming. She explained everything in so detail that we didn’t have to ask anything. We were celebrating our anniversary and we had dinner at the loft. We had a great view from the balcony Best view ever… and Maren our server just WOW. this lady went above and beyond. She had so much knowledge about every single dish. Made increíble recommendations and not only that, she put a list together of places around the area we should visit! Overall, unforgettable trip and we will never forget our stay at the Montage!
In addition to the expensive house price, others are very satisfied. We booked the cheapest room, with a king size bed and a sofa bed, which is very spacious for three people.
Montage is beyond spectacular. The beauty of this place is breathtaking. The customer service first rate and if you dont leave with a smile on your face its your own fault. Nick the bartender was so fun and looks like Captain America to boot.
Spent two weeks here, it’s as good as it gets, the only thing lacking is it’s not in Hawaii.
I came here for a family reunion and it was great. The food was good, the rooms were beautiful, the pool was great and the access to the beach was perfect. The employees were also very kind. I wouldn’t have expected anything more! I love how they cleaned the rooms more than once a day. I always felt like I was in a clean place. I will definitely come back!
Once I saw the valet person running behind our Porsche as we were pulling in, I knew this was going to be different.We had just spent the night at the infamous Hotel Del Coronado and was severely disappointed.From the moment I put the car in park, my expectations were going to be met.Very attentive service personnel.The front desk receptionist even walked us to our room with a gorgeous view and showed us around.Absolutely breath taking.My wife was VERY happy and you know the saying…A happy wife is a happy life 😎We had dinner at The Loft and then enjoyed the musician in the lobby.Looking forward to seeing the other Montage resorts !
We ate at The Loft and loved it! Great wine, food, service and view. The chairs are comfy, too. Perfect for a long and elegant, yet California casual, dinner. $$$.
My sister booked my two cousins visiting from Germany and England, her and myself appointments at the spa for mani pedis and got us access to all the spa amenities. We have never all been together so it was a very special day and we wanted to really pamper them for coming such a long way for us. Well this place did the trick. They loved it. We loved it. It was such a special time for us to reconnect in one of the most beautiful settings. The food, drinks and white glove service was perfect.
Excellent food, great head server, overall a Montage experience. Next time please coasters (no water rings on the table), serve Ladys first, then the youngest, etc. (If this is still valid), plus serve to the right person whatever they ordered (we had some mix up). However as superb as it could be. Liked it a lot. The 8 minute egg (sea level altitude taken into consideration), the oatmeal, the eggs serano. Thank you, fun moment!
My family and I love to sit and relax at the lounge here in the Montage hotel with live piano music. Drinks and service are great! Since furry family members can also join, we are here often with Bambi. She enjoys a martini 🍸 or two here as well 😜

Very disappointed with our thanksgiving dinner. Turkey was incredibly dry, lacked flavor. Desert was inedible. About $200 per person. What a joke
We did not stay at the hotel, but ate there in the past and this time just enjoyed the balcony and a drink. Beautiful views, friendly staff, wonderful grounds, lots of walking paths with flowers abd shurbs. Just nakes for a wonderful day of relaxing and walking
Havent stayed at the hotel itself, but we like to visit their restaurants, and its always a beautiful experience thanks to great food and mesmerizing views.Last weekend we dined outside and ordered grilled artichoke, two kinds of ceviche (shrimp and halibut) and a dessert. I added picture of the latter. It was a strawberry shortcake mousse like goodness, that I utterly enjoyed. The rest of our lunch was also delicious. I highly recommend halibut ceviche.Cannot wait to come back to this heaven on earth!

Its beautiful and most days has clear waters. I love the sunny weather as well - its perfect for swimming and Ive heard that the snorkeling is good too. You can find amazing things in the tide pools as well! It is a lot of times relatively crowded but you can usually find a spot not too close to everyone. The sea is pretty cold and there are riptides and strong currents so not the best place for small children to swim however it has really good life guards. I generally enjoy the ocean when the waves are rough (I like swimming out and diving under the waves) just make sure you swim with someone :)

Its a Montage property, need I say more? From the bell staff, all the way to housekeeping, you wont find better service anywhere in the world. The property is safe, superbly clean and well maintained. Sitting directly on the beach, youll enjoy unbelievable views and easy access to beaches and walkways surrounding the the Pacific coast.

Zero value, hotel rooms are noisy, inconsistent fixtures thru out the rooms, TV placement and tech is third world.If you enjoy pretending you are someone special this is the spot. Most people visiting here are people who think they are someone special, think South Park the episode where everyone is inhaling their own farts.. Pretty entertaining to watch, but when you realize this is the society we are left with; the fake it and pretend you made it crowd.Would never go back.
Love this place, love the main lounge, the pool bar, etc. The only issue I had this time was I had to ask 4 different people to get me my bill so I could leave. My server just went MIA.However, I have never had a bad experience before. And, will continue to come here.
Many luxury reposts have a view, nice facilities and good food...BUT, the service providers at this location are superior to any I have experienced anywhere, except maybe Montage Kapalua. Obviously management trains all personnel to look guests in the eye, smile, speak as if happy the guest is there and as if every guest is uniquely important. 10 of us stayed for a holiday weekend recently (Dec 2021) and all were deeply appreciative of the entire experience. I had a large service dog with me and was so impressed how gracious the hotel was at accommodating dogs. The grounds were impeccable, the landscaping was so very pleasing, the food and all personnel associated with food and wine were so very gracious. First trip in a very long time there was absolutely not a singular disappointment. Montage has mastered the objective of hospitality I finally have a preferred location for all travel.

One of my favorite places to go for drinks. Such a beautiful property and they have piano music playing by a very talented musician 7 days a week. There is also an outside bar Mosaic down below that had music playing as well during my visit. Food at the Loft is delicious and seasonal as well. I have always loved the restaurant Studio down below but it is not currently open.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! A year ago my husband pampered me with a Montage Spa Weekend. Unfortunately, it was a comedy of errors- none of the spa amenities were available and they turned off the water for repairs leaving me smelling of the pool and a wet head for dinner at the resort. Super disappointing! The manager gave me his card and a gift certificate requesting I book directly through him. Last month I left a couple of voicemail messages without a return call. I then followed up with the front desk who let me know the original manager (whose voicemail was still active) left the property and referred me to Mary Rogers, the general manager. During this time my certificate expired, and I asked for a 2 ½ weeks extension so I could visit the property with a friend coming to town. To summarize- I spoke with the general manager’s assistant, Angel (no response after she told me she would let me know that week), and then the assistant manager of the spa (who committed to calling me back with an answer, but didn’t). In waiting for the Montage to come through, I was no longer able to secure a spa booking with my friend elsewhere. It was so embarrassing!I used to be the Montage’s biggest fan- it was my special place for a staycation. NEVER again! To be dismissed and feel like I was begging to get an answer is humiliating. It is SO not about the money but being treated with respect. No one followed up with me. Book at your own risk!
By far the best hotel experience youll ever have. They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is absolutely perfect. I stayed for 4 nights for a work conference and was constantly reminded how theres a clear difference between a luxury hotel and a 5 start hotel. This place is exceptional.
Visited w/friends to walk around and have some coffee.It has magnificent scenery and is home to rabbits, hummingbirds and fur seals.

Possibly one of the worst restaurant/bar service ever encountered in a “luxury” hotel. Went for a champagne afternoon and walked out after 10 mins, staff in a strop, they can’t be bothered to servie you. Don’t waste your time or money.
Came here for a wedding. Amazing venue. Beautiful Pacific Ocean views. Fantastic service from start to finish. Passed Hors d’ouvres were just okay but the dinner service was amazing. Did not stay at the property but saw a room which was definitely nice, but not as extravagant as you might expect for the price point. Still, if you want a beautiful place and you don’t mind spending top dollar, the Montage is for you.
The views you get fron the place are just so breath-taking, I love it. The resteraunt onsite is top notch as well the service and its the perfect wedding venue or for any occasion.
The view gorgeous, walking to the beach, the hike trail is so nice, beautiful green area with water view and in some part they have lavenders plant, smell so good! I love it!

I have been going here for years with my family and until recently, always looked forward to coming back. My wife got food poisoning from the caesar salad, which happens but not usually at a place like this. We called to let them know and they didnt seem too interested in finding out when/where from so they could keep other guests from getting sick. First the person just said okay, do you need me to transfer you to room service to which I told him I only wanted to report it so others didnt get sick also. He still didnt ask where we thought it was from, I had to remind him that was why I was calling. They did comp the nearly $40 salad though. The next day we asked for the room to be turned over and bathroom disinfected after that fiasco and there was still bits of vomit on the toilet and floor. They also did not change our babys diaper pail or crib sheets, so the aromatics of vomit and fecal matter filled the air for over 24hrs. The next day I was pretty sick as well. I ask for them to come turn over the room for a second time, while I try and sit by the pool, 3 and half hours later no one had cleaned the room. So far from what I had come to expect from this place in the last 22 years, this was the not that experience. The staff by the pool was great, as usual, so were the wait staff at all the restaurants and other staff when we spoke. Those really are just some parts of what makes a 6 star hotel (this is what I expect here because it usually is wonderful), with everything else that happened I would give 2 stars for this trip though. Quite disappointed this time around. Just a fluke? I hope so, because we usually love the Montage.
This is one of my favorite upscale places. I really like all the things the way its set up the food the staff the building the property. You really have to be prepared to spend some money here. because it is high class an upscale.Of course well worth it and the beaches nearby so you cant beat it if you really dont want to have an amazing great occasional upscale experience.
Montage Laguna Beach is an incredible resort. The location and amenities are second to none, however the service & staff is really what shines. This is a hotel where your every need will be taken care of.
Not going to give away our spot - too peaceful to have others flooding the beach. BUT - lovely place, clean and relaxing location to hear the waves crashing. The walk down to the beach from main Street was beautiful.
One of my favorite hotels to visit. The rooms are spacious and cute. The service here is absolutely the best any one could ask for. If you have a car you can valet. There are two pools and you can walk to the beach. The spa is also really nice, clean and quiet so you can relax. The drinks are tasty and made well. Perfect place for a nice relaxing vacation. You can also go 6 min down the street to lots of different restaurants.

One of the best on my list. Its like you flew to Thailand or Bali. You can bring some food with you, theres couple picnic tables on top above the beach. Best place to take pictures. 10 min drive to the North and theres Laguna Beach art aria with a lot of nice restaurants and breweries.
Great service and atmosphere a great getaway for rest and relaxation. For your kids they have e a great kids club. The heated pool amazing in the cold. The spa would highly recommend the glow hot stone massage.
This is one of the best lobby longs Ive ever been to. Wonderful seating areas, comfortable chairs, live piano, a fire in the fireplace to tame the chill — all with a spectacular sunset view. And the staff are fast and friendly. Great place to end a day and watch the sun set.

A luxurious stay! Stated here for a work-related conference and was impressed with the service from the staff. You check in, your offered a brief tour as you stand on the balcony taking in the view. The dining was fabulous. Rooms are very spacious. Decor was simple yet chic.
Come here for the sunset bunnies and stay for the piano bar. Lovely grounds and place to relax. Perfect spot for an after dinner walk with your friends and family.
On a recent getaway to OC to celebrate a friends birthday, we had brunch at the main restaurant (The Loft) and loved it! The views are breathtaking, the food was very well made, and the service was exceptional. Will definitely return!
This is one of the most beautiful hotel in Laguna Beach. My 10 years old son had great time at the beach and also playing at Pain Box, exploring tide pool. The Spa always was busy but service was wonderful. ( I recommend book your appointment in advance). Mosaic restaurant was great having dinner with beautiful sunset. The Loft restaurant was amazing (highly recommend Burrata & Bayonne and Coffee Prime New York)

I recently photographed a wedding over Labor Day Weekend at the Montage Laguna Beach. All I can say is, WOW! What an amazing experience! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our bride and groom, making sure their every need was met so they enjoyed a magical wedding day on the oceanfront property. The couple opted for a private outdoor reception in the garden, and it was the perfect location that felt secluded yet still in full view of the water. The chef served a multi course dinner experience that satisfied the guests. The ambience was beautiful, and string lights completed the look for a softly lit tablescape. Finally, there were no end to stunning locations for photos all around the hotel. From the beautiful beach to the gardens with plenty of greenery and benches, we were able to create a variety of photographs that the couple loves from their time at the Montage. Thank you to the Montage for being so easy to work with and making sure we were taken care of from start to finish! I highly recommend this property for any wedding or event you may be considering.
Stayed several nights at the Montage Laguna Beach. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. Service is excellent. We showed up to the pool side restaurant after it had just closed for a drink. The bartender was still there so he accommodated us and gave us an excellent afternoon cocktail. Would recommend highly.
We haven’t even left for our trip and this experience has been terrible. The pre trip level of service and responsiveness for experience and dining reservations is the worst I have ever experienced in my life. I am embarrassed to admit in a public forum how many hours I have spent over the past few weeks on the phone trying to get anyone to help me at this resort.
The only place you can sit at the pool overlooking the ocean is also where people have weddings and events. So you have to listen to a wedding ceremony crowded with people instead of the ocean. Not relaxing. Maybe come on a Monday- Friday and ask if they are having any events in the lawn. They also crowd people at their one Pool.
I mean. Its pretty. But not THAT pretty. Not particularly remarkable. I expected way different accoutrements, service, style for the price that says dripping in luxury. Its just not. One thing. The bathrooms are nice. Deep soaking tubs. Lovely vanities. And yet..... nothing to write home about in terms of soaps, shampoos, body wash. Just your every day fare in the usual teensy tiny bottles and bars. Lobby is big and expansive, but the same scrambled eggs carpeting as every place else. Oh well. Now we know.
This is one of my favorite hotels. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The location is fantastic and has great views. The view of the swimming pool at night with the lightened beach in the scenic background is quite romantic.The beach is just a couple of minutes away going down the stairs outside of the hotel grounds. If one wants to relax in the hotel premises and not go down to the beach one can just stay in the swimming pool area which is well attended by staff, who will bring a drink at a moments notice.In the evening one can relax inside in the beautiful dining area that is wonderfully arranged and has a lovely view of the ocean or at my favored spot outside with friends around the fire place where the breeze of the ocean meets the warmth of the fire.Certainly a place that is to be recommended.
Laguna Beach is my favorate place to enjoy sun and beach.
I had the opportunity to take some wedding photos here on a Thursday evening in July. It was pretty empty, only a few people at first before the crowds turned up to presumably watch the sunset. It was beautiful, clean and friendly. We had a lot of passerby’s wishing us good fortunes as well. It was my first time there and plan to go more regularly.
A true delight. Spectacular setting and the staff is wonderful. Shout out to Tyron Page at the front desk. He is the best.
My aunt was visiting from out of town so I was recommended this place for the good view and scenic spots. The sunset was amazing and the only sounds you heard were the ocean. The area was very clean and the architecture as well, though I wish I could have experienced it better in the daytime where there is more light. Its hard to move around at night because of the limited lighting.
Had a wonderful Saturday morning brunch at the loft. The service was great, and the menu had unique cocktails and a variety of good dishes. My poached eggs were perfection. Loved the view of the ocean as well. Will be coming back.
Now this was an amazing surprise! We were strolling along the beach and came upon an employee of the hotel. We asked him about the food and he recommended their restaurant. We ordered an appetizer and a main course but kept getting three additional courses plus dessert - all vegetarian. (We did not tell the staff that we are vegetarians) We kept asking why and were only met with a smile. At the end, the employee we met on our stroll came to our table and asked how the food was. We told him that we absolutely loved it but that we got four additional courses. He smiled and said it was all on the house and that he told the chef that he needed to spoil us. The employee we met was the maintenance manager and he was the only one who knew our food preferences as we told him. We since recommended this hotel to all our friends. This is a place were love meets service and outstanding food.
Worst place on planet earth; better off eating at McDonalds seriously.. You have been warned, they have such a high turnover that no one knows who you are there anymore, no one will remember you enough to welcome you back and the service is sub par to say the best.. I go and spend $1000 a time for lunch and cocktails with me and my wife 9/5 will be the LAST time i visit here.. Your better off heading to the Ritz where your treated like Family
Absolutely amazing! One of the best hotels I have stayed at. Everyone was so kind and helpful and I had no bad experiences. The room was always spotless and the pool especially was immaculate and beautiful. The service for the cars and the food and the rooms was also very very nice. I would stay again in a heartbeat, and the setting on the beach was perfect.

This property came up highly recommended by our friends in new port beach, I wish I stayed at the pelican again. I checked in on Thursday June 2nd to get away for a night from the city with my husband. A couple of hours into our check in process we got an emergency call regarding our friend being in an accident back in Los angles so we had to drive back. I informed the lady at the front shirt white hair, Caucasian, in her 50s that I have to check out due to an emergency. She said she can’t process the refund because this was booked through Expedia so I informed her that’s ok I will call Expedia later. I have now come to find out that that same lady didn’t approve my refund through Expedia and I have been going back and forth with Expedia to find out through Daniel their front desk reception that the same assistant manager will not approve the refund even though Expedia is willing to refund the money. This is very disappointing and disheartening to see how you facility deals with clients in cases of emergency. I would never recommend any montage hotels to anyone.
Lunch at the Loft is like a mini vaca. The large crab cake was all crab, with delicious fruit salsa & greens. The ocean breeze was heavenly. The colors of the ocean, sky & clouds amazing. Service was attentive, always in the background. Very relaxing long lunch.
Great as always this time of the year. Easier to park, moderate Temps make it easier to walk up the stairs once youre done with the beach. Bluff arch and tide ponds are still there.
My family and I decided to stay here for Father’s Day weekend. It was our first time here and had heard nothing but amazing things about the resort. Everyone was so nice while checking in. We got 2 rooms, one for us and one for my parents. Their room was done but ours wasn’t so we just hung out in there. While we were waiting, we had noticed ketchup stains on the curtains and couch. The bed wasn’t folded along with a few other things. For what you pay to stay here, you expect the best. Yolanda Jimenez, the supervisor of house keeping came up immediately and was so disappointed in how the room looked and took care of it. But when I say she took care of it, she went above and beyond for my family and I. She also let her fellow coworkers down by the pool know of the situation, Paul and Renzo, and they went above and beyond also. They all made our stay that much more pleasurable. By the end of our stay, they all became friends. We can’t wait to go back soon and see them all. Thank you Yolanda for being an amazing asset to The Montage. This resort was nothing short of stunningly amazing. Of course the great view off of the Pacific from lobby viewing balcony was beautiful enough, what really made me fall in love with the place was the staff. Every accommodation and request was fulfilled and exceeded my expectations. Every staff member was gracious, and I could tell I was the #1 priority. The pool was amazing, and the wedding I attended was beautiful, and was taken care of spectacularly. The food was delicious, and the menu was full of variety. Everything was simply perfect. My stay was so amazing, I think I could live there. I definitely look forward to going back to the Montage, hopefully very soon.
The Montage is like all the others, very amazing service, rooms, food, etc. There is always piano playing in the lobby, the staff is better than than any other hotel by far, and the views of the ocean are unbeatable.Waking up in the morning to the ocean is the best. Although a lot of people come it doesnt feel crowded. There is great closet space, an amazing tub and well kept the days you stay.There are stairs down to the beach area with a space to clean your feet off. There is also a store across the street from the Montage if you are interested in grabbing some food and having a picnic in the sand.Whether you have dinner in the restaurant or in your room with an unbeatable view the food is amazing.There is a great walking path right off the hotel as well that follows the coast. Along the way there are places to sit and enjoy the view.The pool is also a great place to relax. It is very big and never feels crowded. Great service if you are wanting drinks by the pool as well.Needless to say if you are looking to get away, relax and go to paradise this is with out a doubt the place for you.

2023-12-08 20:19:41Montage is pure paradise. I wish there was another restaurant on the property (Studio is missed!) but it’s definitely Orange County’s most elegant hotel. One of the most calm and beautiful places on Earth. All rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious.

Jimmy did a great job keeping the table organized.Kenyon and Marc sent me off with a great coffee for the ride.

The beach is beautiful, the suites are perfection -- especially the ones closest to the beach. The room service is timely and detail oriented. You feel like youre thousands of miles away, yet youre still in SoCal.

2023-08-17 06:45:45The Menu at the Loft was great and food presentation and taste superb. The location is of course fantastic.Mostly great service with a smile ( hostess and server at the Loft). Then, we went to the lounge for desserts and coffeeHowever, the Lounge personnel needs more training. It took 30 minutes to have someone greet us and take our orders. There were 3 servers plus a bartender. The place may have had 6 tables that were full.Mostly they stayed by the bar and chatted. Lounge personnel is the most important personnel as they are the first contact inside the hotel. Just saying.

2023-10-12 03:30:35I have stayed at this hotel several times because I really enjoy the resorts location on the beach. The service and food is absolutely terrible for the price. Starting with the food, every establishment they have has the worst service and tasting food with limited options. (Spending 1500 a night plus for this type of cuisine is unacceptable in my book).My last trip they couldn’t get anything right and when I complained, just received false promises of a call back etc but nothing ever happened.I warn you, if your looking for a nice resort with horrible food and ok service this is the place otherwise you will be disappointed.One thing the hotel has going for them is one employee named Luis by the adult pool that is amazing.Cheers.

2023-09-26 04:33:24If you want to pay for a 5 star hotel and get 3 star service spend your time at this resort.Resort is located at a great location, however it has poor service, unprofessional staff and limited food options.My girlfriend and I had a really bad experience at this resort. Probably the first and last time we spend time here.We came back from the beach, we found our room not cleaned, without any clean towel. We extend our stay for half a day (600$), however, half a day means only 8 more hours according to this resort UNDERSTANDING. I talked to the management however, she kept saying we are sorry and could not provide any legit answer that how 8 hours equals to half a day extension. We left the resort without being able to take shower in dirty clothes.Do NOT recommend this unfriendly place.
