This was absolutely delicious! The fish tacos, chicken mole, and barbacoa, was unbelievable! The tortillas were soft and homemade, and the salsa was perfect! The rice and beans were also very good! I would eat here every day if I could! Must try!

Top three favorite food spot in Santa Barbara! In battle for #1, but my mood is always changing. That said, #1 for Mexican food!! It’s a MUST. Hubs always gets the carne asada, I can’t not get the tacos. They are perfection. They are small so order more, but they are loaded and delicious. All their salsas are made in house and will blow your mind, with unique flavors like pistachio, pineapple, peanut, avocado, mango, etc..(Highly recommend the pistachio and pineapple salsas). They also have the best chips you will ever find. EVER.Just go.

Although quite a popular restaurant, the food was slightly disappointing as the burrito and fajitas were bland and spiceless. The servings were very large but they weren’t worth finishing. There are far better and cheaper options in other parts of SoCal, especially if you’re craving birria tacos. Service was extremely kind and the food came out rather quickly, however the taste did not live up to the current restaurant ratings.

Enjoyed walking around the Funk Zone when we saw this line outside of Monys. Seemed legit as the line seemed to maintain throughout the day so we decided to stand in it. While the line was a bit slow (about 30 minutes), once you ordered the food was fast and feast for both the eyes and the stomach. It was the nice combination of good quality, great care put into the food at a reasonable price. Well worth the wait in line.

Delicious tacos. Al pastor, fish, all the chicken and asada tacos were all so fresh. Flour tortillas were excellent. The staff were kind. Limited outdoor seating only. Takes credit cards. Bring your own water as well. Sometimes there is a line but it is worth the wait. Go check it out.

YUM! Cheap generous eats!! This place is BUSY but the queue is a fast one. They have a great salsa bar which is included in your meal. 8different salsas with super fresh ingredients, my personal favorites are the roasted tomato and guacamole salsa, but there are also classic types like salsa verde. The only trade off is their corn tortillas are so similar to the flour ones, but for the price, unbeatable!!

I wish I could go to Monys every day of my life but unfortunately I do not live in the country so I must content myself with my yearly visits. Everytime I am in Santa Barbara I MUST stop at Monys! Yo do you want to get into some really delicious mexican food?? This is the place. I think their barbacoa is some of the best in Santa Barbara, whether its with tacos or burritos it really doesnt matter. Oh and their habanero salsa is on fire. So good! This place is on anacapa in the funk zone. I would for sure say one of the top mexican food places in town. Check it out!!

Do you want large quantities of tasty and authentic Mexican food? Just go to Mony’s and it won’t disappoint. My wife had to physically stop me eating when I entered the shaking meat-sweat phase of my digestion process. I couldn’t stop eating the food. Just take a look at the photo - that burrito is filled with joy and the plate of nachos was the size of a football field. Will be back again if I ever return to Santa Barbra!

MANAGEMENT AND STAFF ARE INCOMPETENT AND RUDE. I am a Head Chef and I had a bad experience at this restaurant. This restaurant is very disorganized. I waited in line to ordered 2 burritos as it is supposedly the most popular item on the menu. I left with a fish taco when I paid for 2 fish burritos. I called the restaurant and they were not willing to make it right saying they will give me a refund for the taco but I will have to pay for the 2 burritos that I already paid.Money is not an issue but going back to the restaurant and wait in line twice and pay for an order twice is unacceptable !The management and the staff are incompetent. It was a total waste of time.I WILL NEVER GO BACK !

Monys is hands down my favorite Mexican food in Santa Barbara. (And I really, really, really love Mexican food!) They have great vegetarian options; I always have trouble deciding between their rajas burrito, rajas tacos, and chilaquiles. Their chips are fantastic too, and dont miss their green avocado salsa (I would drink this if I could) and spicy orange habanero salsa. Add their fantastic service and you have a go-to gem of a local restaurant! Dont miss Monys!

Or the tacos - so many kinds of tacos.And don’t eat the chips unless you want the most amazing chips and salsa you’ve ever had. But if you’re not starving, seriously consider not eating the chips - you won’t get to the burrito you ordered. This establishment is run like a well oiled machine...everyone knew what their job was and did it with speed, accuracy and friendliness. It is your typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant...small...plastic tables and chairs (outside), and crowded! Standing in line took about 15 minutes, but the people all around us were even helpful and friendly giving us suggestions and telling us their favorites. I had to go out and stand and wait for a table to clear for about 5 minutes.While waiting for our food, we ate chips and salsa. They have a salsa bar with about a dozen different salsas. Monys is a no-brainer destination in Santa Barbara for street tacos and other Mexican street food. The pricing is fair (about $2.5 per taco) and the staff are helpful and friendly. In the past, Ive had a hard time getting more chips, because they often only give one order of complimentary chips per order (no matter the size of the group). The various salsas are all awesome, I especially like the pistachio and the pineapple. This would be a 5 star review except that their hours make it inconvenient to actually go at a reasonable time (closes at 3pm). This doesnt really stop me from going whenever I have a chance.

A tiny family run place off the beaten path in the Funk Zone, theyre a well cited staple for amazing tacos in SB.The tacos are street tacos, which is the only thing you should look at (maybe they have other things, Ive never looked). They include interesting and innovative tacos (one with spicy peanut sauce on it), and everything tastes fresh.Theres basically no indoor seeting, its just a door with a small sign into a 2 table room with a counter. When theyre open, they have tables in the side walk out front too.If their hours were more consistent theyd be 5 stars, but its basically impossible to go here because theyre only open for lunch on some days, and might randomly be closed even then.They recently were able to put in a food truck in front of Test Pilot and Paradise Springs Winery, which is just down from their store front, so now they actually have consistent availability. That makes them a full 5 stars for sure.

The Best tacos, youll get at Monys.Thats what we were told by the young man at Surf N Wear Beach House.And it was true.We ordered ahead because there was a line when we went by the first day we were in Santa Barbara, and it was ready when we arrived.Asada tacos were moist and flavorful as were the Carnitas. A 2 minute walk from the main Street behind the rail crossing. As a tourist if one is not doing wine tasting you wouldnt find this place. My wife and I have been in SB trying a bunch of different recommendations and Mony’s has been the best value by far. The price to quality ratio is obviously great but it’s also a wide variety of availability in options. We got the standard asada/chorizo/pollo but also the rajas, shrimp, and cabeza tacos, all of which made an impression.Additionally, the workers were super nice, gifting us with some stickers when they realized it was our honeymoon and bringing a standing table out for us (it had been raining that morning). To expand...Fresh, prepared perfect, and a delightful variety of flavors. We had several tacos but the El Pastor and carnitas were our favorites (recommend at the shop too). From the variety and unique salsa bar (I counted at least 10, maybe more) to the tidy dining area and friendly staff, it just exude a positive vibe. And when the food arrived, they took it up another notch. From the tasty barbacoa bursting with a cacophony of flavors to the awe inspiring mountain of beef nachos, we could not stop eating! The people here were very nice and the service was extremely quick even with a long line and the multiple orders I had to place. The asada was really good but the lengua, tripa, carnitas, and cabeza were probably the best I have ever had in my life. That says a lot because I eat street tacos at least twice a week. Honestly anything you try here I can almost guarantee it will satisfy you. The only thing that I can say I didnt like was the barbacoa, it was a little tough and it didnt taste authentic. And this is this place is in my top 3 for favorite taco shops, that includes street tacos I have had in numerous towns in Mexico. This place has the best carne asada in my opinion. I recently tried their fish taco and was pleasantly surprised to find out that is is grilled and not battered like most places. No matter what type of taco you order you pretty get two tacos worth of meat or fish or chicken...i use the meat that falls out to make nachos with the chips they give you for free. I have had their carnitas once, but where I come from carnitas is a big deal....so I will say their carnitas is not nearly as good as some that I have had...its still really good, but its nothing like their carne asada.The head (cabeza) taco is SOOOOO good. Its like the super tender part of a steak. Just try it! It sounds scary but I am telling you, its fuego family. $2 tacos all day, everyday! They also do nachos, burritos, and tortas for $10 bucks but they are massive.Salsa bar is the best in town and probably best one until you get to San Diego. This place is so amazing, I’m going to talk about why those other reviews are wrong. First off there is a habanero salsa that I’ve seen multiple start sweating from while eating. The salsa bar is amazing! The avo salsa is delicious, the habanero, peanut salsa is great, and everal others but those are my favorites. It’s not expensive by any means it’s just located in Santa Barbara, and it’s cheaper than a good chunk of places. The people who usually don’t like this place are used to being served white meat “authentic” Mexican food. I went in with a friend awhile ago who said that the reason their beans didn’t look like refried beans is they had been made over night in a longer more arduous process and if that isn’t authentic I don’t know what is. The staff are very friendly, and sure it can get busy but if you call in a to go order you can pick up your food and not wait in line.

Monys is a local favorite, can get crowded quick! Theyre known for their unique salsa bar (make sure to try a few flavors) and I recommend al pastor tacos on flour tortillas. The al pastor is marinated with pineapple giving it a sweet and savory flavor. If Monys is busy and you cant snag a table, get your order to go and walk to the beach. Not worth it to eat tacos on a ceramic plate sitting on a curb.

This is sort of a hidden gem the that is hidden right by the Funk Zone. Amazing authentic Mexican food with a great selection of salsas. All for a reasonable price. If you find yourself in the funk zone, make sure to stop here.

I was driving around looking for a place to eat lunch and happened to see the tables outside for this little Tacqueria. I took the chicken nachos to go and they were excellent. I really enjoyed them and the staff was friendly and quick. I will definitely visit this place again and would highly recommend that others try them.

Best Mexican food in town, family owner business, so if you go in here and get to know the staff, you will see them each time. Great atmosphere, not to mention how great the food is, get something new each time, im not even the biggest Mexican food type of person but you cant keep me away from this place while im in town, do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite on your lunch break.

Awesome spot for a variety of Mexican food, all of it is really good but I personally find the carnitas tacos at Monys are the best in the area. Perfect stop for a quick bite.

Delicious! Try all the different tacos. Ive come here twice now when Im in town for work, I live in LA/OC area. Well worth stopping by if you live here or are visiting.

Possibly blasphemy, but my favorite tacos in Santa Barbara. Street taco sized, with tons of meat options. The al pastor is crazy good.

I dont think I have ever had anything bad here. The tacos are incredible. There is often a line but dont let that scare you away. It is completely worth it!

Good guacamole & chips. Good tacos & quesadilla. Nachos werent cooked long enough to totally melt the cheese and it didnt stick to the chips. Not great enough to return to.
