Definitely was a bucket list place to visit and I’m quite disappointed with the experience.Firstly, the ambiance is inviting and reels you in for sure. The service, mainly regarding Jonathan and serving wine, was outstanding. He was probably the best part of our experience. Now to the food, which I had a high expectation of, but unfortunately was subpar, at best. The sushi options were very basic and didn’t have any depth of flavor and honestly felt like our local sushi spot was much better. There was also zero specialty rolls of any sort. The “duck fat” fries tasted like regular fries with some salt; nothing special or memorable. The edamame was what you expect from a frozen pack, heated in the microwave with salt; like the fries, meh and unremarkable in any way.For this being an iron chef owned restaurant, I expected a lot more in regard to options, flavor, and overall experience. We apologized to the others that accompanied us for dinner because we had hyped this place up so much and couldn’t accept the price we paid for the mediocre food we were served. If this is on your must visit list, rethink it.
We loved this restaurant. Staff and service is amazing and the food definitely measures up! We had the sticky rib - yum, and the pork gyoza which were very nice. My husband had some sushi that he said was great. We also had the Angry Chicken with the confit duck fried rice. We managed to fit in dessert as well.Highly recommend
It has been our restaurant for celebrations since it opened. Our first meal was in 2013, and it has never disappointed us.Yesterday we had some delicious meals and my husband favorite drink “the white lily”I only wish they bring back their famous king crab legs, I miss it, oh well there is plenty to chose from their menu. This last time the shrimp tempura was excellent to snack with our drinks while we waited for our main course, whole fish is a most and the sticky ribs as well as their rice in the hot rock.
If you are afraid of sushi... If you want to have a GUARANTEED good bite of fish every time.... Morimoto.We had the Omakase (As you Serve Me) and while it was hardly a traditional Japanese Omakase, it was an amazing 7 course meal. (+$400 for two after drinks and 20% tip.)The only feedback I would offer from a customers perspective is that if youre going to skip the traditional way of serving Omakase and lean toward more JapaNapa Fusion... Along with a Sake Pairing, you should offer a wine pairing and a beer pairing. The service was excellent our table was uneven and they send someone to balance it for us. They even wiped the table after our food and gave us new plates when the next meal came. We ordered the toro and waygu sushi for $16 each and they were fantasticThe food was good but I was more impressed with the care and service of the staff
We went to celebrate our ten year anniversary and had the chefs choice sushi, roll, edamame, white tail fish, sticky ribs, and sake. Overall, the food was delicious and of high quality and the price was great. However, the service was terrible. Our server didnt go over the specials or dishes, and disappeared for 20 minutes at a time. The dining room was also extremely loud. We checked and it was just under 80 decibals in our two hour experience. We had high expectations and were disappointed.

So many reasons this restaurant and the experience were underwhelming.-We had a reservation well in advance yet we were seated outside with no notice or without a choice. The restaurant explicitly was out of propane and could not provide heaters to all guests outside.-I don’t even think the server introduced himself and I could barely hear anything he said.-We ordered the tasting menu and to be candid I have paid less for better meals and enjoyed them more. The whitefish dish was overly salty and did not agree with me at all.-I was feeling unwell due to several factors and asked for help departing early. Rather than canceling the remainder of our order or adjusting our check to pay for what we had we were told we could have our food to go and charged full price. Disappointing because part of a tasting experience is learning about the food not having a several hundred dollar meal shoved into a box and handed over to you.One star for the cool light fixtures and one star because I still think Morimoto is the best iron chef. But I will never eat at another of his restaurants if they’re all like this.
This place was top-notch. I hear they are doing private tastings with Blackbird Vineyards in the Aerena gallery next door. Super exclusive, I think you just have to request the service, but it sounds very intimate.
Thee place for Napas take on Japanese. Beautiful outside and especially inside, life changing desert (white chocolate lime ganash with coconut flakes and POP ROCKS CANDY inside), awesome kamasu sashimi, dope tea selection, and of course that fantastic food and drink menu. Server Manny is the man with his recommendations and attention to service. Worth every penny, so go go go there.
Honestly the food here was amazing and everyone was very friendly. My sister brought me here for my birthday, the shrimp was probably my favorite, had an amazing taste and I would definitely recommend it for a starter. We were able to split it between 3 people and still had lots to eat and it tasted absolutely amazing. Sushi was great, my wifes fish was tender, moist, she kept talking about how it nearly melted in her mouth haha. The tacos were great and everything had really good flavor, overall a 10/10 experience and Id recommend coming here for any special occasion. Be aware that you definitely need to make reservations and the prices arent cheap, but definitely a great place worth every penny.

We had the best time here! The food was amazing, especially the chocolate sphere dessert (literally one of the best things I’ve ever eaten). Our server Manny gave us great recommendations and was fantastic! All of the service was top notch. Super impressed!
I had never been here before. And didnt know what to expect. What a great place ! Our party of 4 had everything from Sushi to a flat iron steak. From a Sapporo on draft to a fine glass of red wine. Michael was our server. Even though he was super busy with a lot of tables. He found a way to totally take care of us. Ill definitely be back when Im in town.
Our table ordered a variety of dishes and shared. From sushi to steak to pork, each dish was flavorful and cooked to perfection (except the sushi, of course). The atmosphere was calming and spacious. The best thing about our experience was watching Chef Morimoto at work. What an amazing leader - still in the kitchen mentoring his team but giving them the space to work. He visited with guests and ensured we all felt welcome. It was an amazing dining experience.
OK I went during the Covid lockdown so this was takeaway. I was impressed with the quality of the fish and that signature pizza I had to try. It has changed a bit from the original he learned from Barry Wine from The Quilted Giraffe when it became Sony. The house brand sake had the earthy tones needed to enhance my dining experience, would recommend!
Good fusion of Japan and California. Well prepared and creative presentation. The toro tatare plays to texture as well as taste. The cooked items are done very well. The sushi fish are good but not the freshest Ive had. Service and ambiance is great. Must try the Morimoto sake flight, they go well with the menu items. Visiting with high expectations, there is a certain letdown. Definitely a bit tilted towards the pricey side based on whats offered. I wished there were more creative items like the tuna tartare.
Great food, knowledgeable wait staff. They didnt rush us. Had sushi and biro bop, flaming chocolate ball for dessert was fun and yummy.
Yum yum and yum. The restaurant is huge, nice styling and has indoor/outdoor options. The food is exquisite. We tried a little bit of everything and none of the dishes failed us. Staff was great, atmosphere was nice as well. The pork belly and wagyu beef were two highlights, and of course the Chef’s Sushi Combo was full of great selections.
A very good place if you are into fancy Japanese food and dont mind spending $200+ per person for a dinner.The fish is very fresh and carefully selected. My favorite were the appetizers: the sticky short ribs are must have and were absolutely delicious!Cocktails were a bit disappointing: overly sweet. Stick to good sake🍶
All the dishes minus the sushi are amazing! Their dishes are very luxurious and each bite is very dense, so you get full easily. Their sushi isnt anything special and tastes really mediocre. Great customer service too!
Came here for my birthday dinner. Food was amazing. Sake and cocktails were also great. Service was awful. Middle age lady with spiky gray hair was a terrible server. Super vague when explaining the menu. Made us wait 30 minutes to get our check after being through with dinner. She also asked I wanted a birthday scoop of iced cream. I told her no twice. And she still brought it out, I told her no again and she seemed mad, and didn’t apologize about the wait and poor service.Great restaurant. Just got unlucky with the bad server.
We had great time and nice meal at Morimoto, however, we are a bit disappointed with the whole experience, Service : we give it 5/10 I believe the Resturant is under staffed, our server was absent most of the time, for a Michelin star Resturant I would have expected a diff experience. Sushi: 5/10.. rushed .. the rice was falling apart, would have expected some art and diligent carefully done meal. Presentation and seating 4/10 … the table was big, dishes placed randomly around the table, difficult to access.Over all you pay for the reputation, you pay for the name around 120$ average per person.
For its prestige and name recognition, we were slightly disappointed in the food. Atmosphere, service, and restaurant were amazing, but the food itself did not stand out as much as we expected.The Tuna Tartare was the standout of the dinner. Each bite paired with a different topping was incredibly fun to experience. However, the ribs and sushi plates we all ordered tasted just okay. Compared to other (cheaper) sushi places weve eaten in the Bay, it didnt stand out as much as we expected for its price.
This was such a cool dining experience in downtown Napa. It’s definitely not your traditional sushi restaurant (spicy tuna rolls, chicken bento box).All the dishes had gorgeous presentation and the staff were wonderful at explaining everything and made our evening memorable.It is a bit on the louder side so keep that in mind, we were there on a Friday night.
AMAZING! Every single item is phenomenal. The ribs are unlike anything you have ever tasted. Every cocktail is perfect. So many details. Our server was Owen and we basically let him decide what we should order and he did not disappoint, try every item you can, you will not be disappointed. Fantastic service and I don’t think the $$$$ is accurate, we spent $500 between 2 couples and basically ate the whole food and beverage menu. Totally worth it.
It is a very nice place in terms of decorations and encouragement. The service is really good but it couldnt save the it from getting a 3 star. We didnt ordered anything fancy. They seems to emphasize on the presentation before the taste. The pork chop without the kimchi was bland. The meat itself should have some flavor and not rely on the sauce for it. The gyoza was not good. We have to return it and have it remade as the skin was a bit too raw for us. The fries was made poorly. It was very thin and it seems to have oil and that is it. The A5 wagyu was decent but not comparable to what I had in Japan. The only decent dish is the sashimi combo. It was fresh and taste alright. The bad part of it was the wasabi. It has no kick and taste like green paste with no flavor or wasabi taste at all. Probably my only time I will go there. Too expensive for what it is and I can use the same money for a really nice steak dinner.
My family and I were so excited to dine at the restaurant given that I was a fan of Iron Chef in the early 2000s. Between the service and the food, we were unimpressed. Our waiter, Manny, was rude, unprofessional, and absent. Our waiter assistant was more professional and kind.The majority of the food was lack luster. To be honest…The sushi at our local grocery store is better. The Duck Fried Rice had no flavor and was very greasy. The sticky ribs were outstanding: flavorful, moist, and tender. The Pork Goza was yummy.Overall such a disappointment. We expected so much more from this establishment.
Delicious alcohol free cocktails and glorious beautiful sushi! The hamachi tacos were mouthfuls of pleasure, the location is fab, and the décor is just gorgeous. We had a lovely birthday dinner with a scoop of banana ice cream with choco chips at the end with a tiny candle. The servers were fantastic and overall a top notch experience!
We went here during our stay in Napa. Décor and ambiance was nice. Drinks were over priced so decided to skip and go straight for food. Best item on the menu was sticky ribs. Tuna tacos were good too. However was disappointed with assortment of sushi / maki we ordered. For such a popular restaurant and at such prices, I expected food to be much flavorful.
The staff is absolutely exceptional here. They were clearly short staffed but you could still hear everyone smiling through their masks and being very friendly the entire day. Please make sure to start with the rock shrimp; you wont regret it. If you go with a few people, the family style sushi comes on a nice large serving dish so everyone can pick and choose. Outdoor seating is separated by small tents and they have cozy heaters outside. Great dinner!
Service was fantastic but the food fell just a little short. For example, we got the spicy salmon and eel with avocado rolls which were great but didn’t taste ‘out of this world’ better than other standard sushi places I’ve been. The gyoza in my opinion was missing the crispiness I was looking for and lacked flavor. I also didn’t really understand the significance/flavor exposition of the bacon foam surrounding it? The soufflé that we had at the end was delicious though, highly recommend. Overall a good experience but probably not one I would do again.
Morimoto is amazing from the time you hit the door. Asthetics, lighting, service temperature all are perfect! The staff is amazing and the food cant be beat. Highly recommended if you are visiting Napa Valley.
My wife brought me to this amazing restaurant for Fathers Day and the food was beyond my expectations.
9-18-2022. My wife and I visited Napa Valley to eat Morimoto and to sight see a little. We ordered the Hamachi Tartare, Pork Chop Applesauce, Ishi Yaki Buri Bop, and the 50 sushi chef combination. The Hamachi tasted great with the different flavor that came with it. The caviar was also great with the Hamachi. The sushi was one of the best Ive had. If I would have known that they put wasabi on every piece of sushi, I would have asked to not have it, but I didnt mind it as it wasnt too overwhelming. The Ishi Yaki Buri Bop was great, came out as a hot bowl and they mix everything in front of you. Be careful as the bowl is really hot and food could be hot while eating. Flavor was great and fish tasted good. The Pork Chop is the best Ive had, flavor is great, meat is really tender. Service was really great. Server gave us explanation on how to eat the Hamachi Tartare and explain what is going on when mixing the Ishi Yaki Buri Bop. We were seated outside with a nice view. We will try different food the next time we come back. Overall, great experience, great service.
We had an enjoyable lunch experience that was overall pretty good but not great. I enjoyed the open space and pleasant, fun staff. We sampled Our way through the warm appetizers. The gyoza was crisp and tasty but the bacon foam and tomato did not add much for me. Pork belly was fatty and juicy and really hit the spot. Rock shrimp tempura and edamame were enjoyable but nothing above and beyond other fusion restaurants. Onto the entrees the chasu ramen was pleasant and cooked just right. The buri bop was prepared table side and was rich with crispy seared goodness. We had the cod as well which was quite tender (almost too soft for my taste) but the ginger soy reduction added good flavor. We were impressed with the smore and cheesecake souffle desserts overall. We really enjoyed our meal at Morimoto’s but I feel that it did not quite meet the expectations of the price and celebrity chef status.
Not that great for the price - most of the sushi rice fell apart upon picking it up on a few rolls we ordered, the pork belly was slightly dry.Service is just mediocre than expected. They’re attentive enough however did not go above and beyond to meet a high enough standard for a restaurant of this caliber.
Service is really good. Food is delicious but it’s a bit overpriced especially the sushi. Morimoto pork chop is one of the best pork chop I ever had, it’s so good with Kimchi.
Wonderful place with a beautiful Japanese atmosphere. Sashimi was presented beautifully and was amazing. Fish and chips were the best I’ve had in recent years. My drink was a cucumber vodka cocktail which was especially yummy. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Great experience!
Morimoto Napa is the best place to dine in all of Napa! Our waiter, Amir, was attentive and shared recommendations because it was our first time eating at Morimoto’s restaurant. Every single dish exceeded our expectations: excellent service and attention to detail. The manager, Heesoo, interacted with us, and I noticed how she engaged with many tables, which is rare, especially at this scale. I’ve traveled to over 50 countries and never experienced such service. This was by far a high-touch dining experience, with tasty food, and attention to detail. Thank you to the Morimoto staff for a memorable dining experience!

Excellent restaurant with Asian fusion food. The menu is extensive and has many innovative options. We enjoyed family style dining and the servings are very generous. The wine list is fantastic and has a wide range of options, also from a price perspective. Our msin waitress was extremely professional and accommodating. The maitre d’ however, was poorly trained (did not know the difference between a cabernet and a burgundy glass) and very impolite. Nonetheless we would come back, but would avoid her.
Morimotos is large, and mostly concrete, and large and if you walk through it like I did, packed with people presumably celebrating their freedom to eat out again on a Saturday, youll think huh, this place is packed, and also really large. The exposed concrete is part of his design aesthetic for his 15 restaurants around the world.Seated by wait-staff who looked very overwhelmed (you did great by the way!), Morimotos proceeded to bore me completely, with a brief break during the miso soup for something that was almost interesting. Nothing was bad, it just wasnt special at all, and yet the place was packed. And also pricey. It was getting sushi from your local 5-seat place, except with a 75% price markup and 5000% more seats.Were they all bored? Did all the throngs of loud people (concrete has great acoustics) have different food than I did? Have they not eaten at any one of the 75 Japanese restaurants the Michelin guide thinks is worth noticing in California (none of which are this one)? Maybe theyd just been drinking all day?I grew up watching Morimoto win Iron Chef, and I should have remembered that hes a celebrity chef. A TV chef. He has 15 restaurants and a large corporate crew to deliver sushi to the hundreds of people who come to eat Morimotos food now that we can eat inside again.The thing is, hes not back there cooking. This is, almost by definition, a cover band of the band you really wanted to see, and it tasted like a cover band. Except because its an official cover-band, you paid the full ticket price.Also almost every piece of nigiri had so much wasabi smeared on it under the fish that my girl actually gagged. Something tells me the food was done in great haste.TLDR; Not bad, not good, expensive, and youre paying for a name and a really mediocre setting where youre a cog in Morimotos fish slicing empire.

Patio dining for 2 on a Sunday afternoon along the Napa River. We were unable to dine at their Honolulu location due to the pandemic. This lunch made up for that! Excellent, creative plates, quality over quantity. Knowledgeable and delightful server who made sure my selections were dairy-free. Make sure to make reservations! Try their award-winning Buribop rice featured on Iron Chef!
We split the pork gyoza, I had the 7 course dinner, & my dad had the angry chicken. We split the chocolate sphere for dessert. OMG. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Food is absolutely incredible. Ambiance is cozy (outdoor dining, indoors was a little on the noisy side.) Service was super friendly and attentive. Amazing experience
Morimoto is one of my favorite restaurants and has been for years! The duck fried rice never disappoints🍚😁 The last time I was at the Napa location (2019) I had Halibut which is my favorite, duck fried rice and Broccolini. My Hubby had the Wagu steak which was delicious also. Our Cocktails were beyond amazing The lychee martini with the edible flower was amazing!! Highly recommended!
My son took his date for prom. They really enjoyed the experience. The Miso really stood out to them, they even ordered a second bowl. Also they really enjoyed the Pork Goyza on a sizzling platter. They had the sorbet selection which was nice for the lactose intolerant. Also my son dug the ambiance, he thought it was going to be his future vibe..
Absolutely fabulous. I had the seafood tobanyaki and the broth was so good. My wife loved the buri bop. Highly recommend!
Such mixed feelings about our experience. Initially or waiter was attentive and explained the options. However, one of our sides didnt come out with our food and had to be put in again. We could see our waiter attending to a large group inside and seemed to have forgotten us outside so the service was subpar for sure. However the wagyu steak was amazing. By far the best steak Ive ever had. Because of the declining service we skipped dessert but would have loved to try one.
Service was horrible. Almost an embarrassment I’d say. We saw our server Cristal three times. Once for our drink order, once for our appetizer order and the last time we had to ask for her to be sent to the table. We asked if she forgot about us and she said “I’ve been helping 10 other people! Really?!? We were there to celebrate a birthday which only the hostess mentioned. Something I thought was going to be really special turned out to be subpar!
Food was excellent. We started with the calamari salad and I liked the crunch of the calamari. We then had the 10-hr pork belly and the fullness of flavor complemented the congee pretty well. Next, we had the ribs that was cooked to perfection. It was falling off the bones and the hot pepper jelly sauce was really good. For our entrees, I had the cod and hubby had the sashimi chefs combination. Both were highly recommended by others and righty so. We ended with the smore for dessert. In all, service was great. They constantly refilled our drink and changed our appetizer plates and utensils, twice considering how busy the restaurant was. I would recommend this restaurant. 👌

Good food, high class apearance with a unique menu. Its busy for sure, certainly crowded with an interesting layout. Parking so so with little street parking and its a bit more cost than an average sushi place. Not blown away but, its tasty for sure and looks like it would be fun with a group.
Ive been here 3 times now, and everytime its been a great experience. Food is always delicious and sushi very fresh. Service is also very good, as expected from a high end restaurant like this.
Went here for the first time. Was blown away on how beautiful it is inside. The restaurant was bustling but not crazy. Our staff was very nice and helpful. Our food came promptly but not fast. The fries are good but they weren’t really anything different. The Brussels however, oh my Christmas. These things were so good. Never had them this way before. Now.... the ramen and miso soups (we’re broke so...) were definitely fantastic. I don’t eat this items often so they were good but not necessarily crazy good.Overall the atmosphere was great, noise level was on point, the smells were fantastic, and we sat on the outside with views. Will def be returning for a steak!!!!!
Really good food and great service. Sit at the sushi bar and let Chef Kevin work his magic! He created an off menu roll that was the best roll weve ever had. Drinks are worth every penny. It was such a great experience that we went back a second night. Our only complaint is how loud it gets but the service and food are worth it. The desserts were amazing too!
My husband and I are obsessed with this place. We’ve gone twice this year for our birthdays and it is always outstanding, our server Manny just made our experience an 11/10. This restaurant is definitely top 3 in Napa, and when you look back at how much you spent you will be saying it was well worth it… unlike some overpriced mediocre food in town. Can’t wait to be back!
Fantastic meal - great cocktails, food and service. One of the best wagyu old fashion I’ve ever had. My wife loved the s’mores dessert. The restaurant was lively with energy and joy.
Morimoto is amazing both vibe and food are terrific! All dishes were great, but the shrimp tempura and the cod were the most amazing dishes! Wagyu carpaccio and white fish carpaccio were great. Dessert lime flan wasnt that good imo, Id try another dish.
Disclaimer: Im not a seafood eater, but I came here with 7 voracious seafood lovers. Presentationally, all items were beautifully plated, almost to the point of extravagance. When my friends and family were eating the various forms of sushi, there were a lot of eyes rolling in the backs of heads and moaning. I think thats a good sign. I had the non-seafood items like the crispy Brussels sprouts and duck fat fries and steak, all of which were incredible. From what I can tell and heard, the seafood was of incredibly high quality and extremely delicious. They do a great job catering to large groups. The food is expensive, but this is a fine dining place and you wont be disappointed by the quality of food you receive.
I’m still reeling from the $$$ I just spent to be on a conveyer belt fine dining experience. Loud environment:couldn’t hear my dining companion across the table. Opted for the Omakase and felt like we were on a production line with no brakes. Server was friendly, but plates were brought to our table and delivered by staff with brief explanations that we couldn’t hear (did I mention it was loud?) unless expressly repeated. Tuna tartar was fishy, as was the tuna sushi. The second dish, hamachi, and the final desert were tasty and surprising, but otherwise felt like we were paying for a name and the honor of being in a loud, rushed, fine dining establishment. Wish we’d gone to one of the many local establishments with less of a reputation, and perhaps a greater attention to the diners experience.
Eh. Just didn’t live up to the hype. Neither service nor value… fish was good quality but not well cut. Waiter dropped a tray of white fish and walked away without explanation… what is this and in what order does the chef suggest tasting it? Napa prices, but nothing special.

Having dinner at Morimoto Napa was as much about dining out as it was enjoying a nice meal. The staff was professional, and courteous without being stuffy.I felt safely distanced from other patrons. The dining room was exquisite.The wagyu carpaccio was well marbled and the excess oil seemed unnecessary.The tuna tacos were small which is fine but it through off the ratio of meat to crunch. And it was on the bland side.Sticky ribs were a little over cooked but had good flavor otherwise. My guess was that they were individually sliced halfway through the cooking process which explains why the entire rib was covered in a crust, which is non traditional. And thats fine too. Tamarind is a natural choice for ribs and a wise pick for the American palate. The relish that is served with it gives it a good tang as well.We had the duck confit fried rice which I think used basamati rice (or other long grain rice) instead of a traditional Asian rice. It felt a little harder than what I expected. The duck was dry and not tender.We also had Toro and big eye snapper sashimi which were both excellent. The Toro luxuriated in fatty acids that lingered on my palate long after the fish was gone. The big eye was lean but had a sweet clean finish.Desserts were the big surprise. I had the lime white chocolate ganache which was complex and elegant. Full of chewy, fluffy and rich textures. A delicately sweet and tart joy layered in an adventurous surprise at the bottom.We also had the macha cake which I didnt like but my dining companion loved. She didnt like my dessert either so we were both delighted.Looking forward to seeing the menu expand as restrictions relax.We could not have had better, faster, more professional service. What a divine treat!
I Love the food and interior design, we had a birthday party for my son here, who loves sushi. However, the hostess was quite rude to me once. .. Despite that, the other person was able to fix the issue and eventually, I had a nice experience
I love the atmosphere and food. All of the Servers and bartenders are gorgeous and very mindful of patrons allergies. Beautiful location. With delicious worth it foods. Will go back for sure 😊
We had a company lunch and got a family style menu. It was great to try different dishes. The service and food were outstanding!!!
We rounded off our trip to the Napa Valley by heading to Morimoto Napa. Our server Justin was really friendly and helpful in explaining the specialties of the dishes. The sashimi was exceptional. It is fresh and light. The presentation of the dish is very beautiful as well. The steak and the jus were a really good combination and showcases Chef Morimotos experience in fusion dishes. The desserts were really pretty and well made. Matcha cake is a great option for lighter dessert fare. I would definitely go back to try more.
I wanted to love this place so much. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the hype was all there. The restaurant was very busy, tables all full, staff quickly walking from one table to the next.Perhaps it’s the hype that is the downfall as the sushi is underwhelming. We had a group of 4 (ordered the chefs special) and while we all enjoyed the sushi, nothing about it was special or unique that would make us come want to come back. It was exactly what you’d expect from a sushi restaurant but not a famous chef. It was fish on (ok) rice. A bit too much wasabi on the nigiri, and not even a glaze of any sort to brighten flavors. It felt more like they were there to churn out lots of sushi, and therefore lost the art of it.Nothing was bad, nobody got sick-I want to make that clear. But for the price point, you’d just hope there was more to it.
Excellent food in a very nice location. My table shared appetizers, a SRF Gold Label Ribeye, and a Sashimi course. The food was well worth the price, although the sashimi was absolutely the star of the show. The toro was, of course, exceptional, but the surprise for me was three cuts from mackerel. Nice to be surprised by a new experience when it comes to food!
Spacious restaurant with a lively ambience...with good decor and lighting. Outdoor dining wity view of the river. Service was prompt. Food presentation was good and food was tasty. Only minor comment was the small serving of the braised pork with porridge.Everything else was excellent. Did not have enough room for dessert.
Very nice place,.excellent service with friendly and informed staff. We had the crab and shrimp sushi rolls, wagyu appie (amazing!), pot stickers and cod with side rice and Brussels. Brussels were over the top and the cod completely melted it was cooked to perfection. All nicely presented as well.
This is a dish from a 4 $$$$ place in Napa. We love sushi and enjoy eating them at different places in California. One piece of sashimi here costs 8$ min, and we’ve been waiting for our first order for at least 30 min. Doesn’t worth it.
Always and still amazing and creative Japanese food, delicious sushi and fantastic sake selection! Small plates, mains to share and/or sushi platters and innovative rolls, this place is the epitome of high-end fine-dinning Japanese fare!
The food was wonderful and the interior design is beautiful. However, that beautiful open design full of hard surfaces makes for a very noisy environment. It was hard to converse at our table due to how loud it was inside. And our server, while polite and professional, paid more attention to his other tables so we were ignored - drinks remained empty, no checking-in on us, etc. The the amazing and inventive food are the reasons to go and why I gave 4 stars.
Best sushi I have ever had!We got the chef choice sashimi and am so glad we did, it forced us to try new things that I might not have ordered on my own.Also the wagu beef was perfect, and the duck fried rice was a delicious side dish.

A 5 star experience. I recommend his ramen as a starter since his first restaurant he ever opened was a ramen shop. The yellowfin tuna done table side is incredible. But really, you cant go wrong...
Everything about this place was amazing! The food was spectacular and the drinks were incredible. If you ever stop by, ask for Grady. He was extremely helpful and was able to answer any questions our group had. 10/10 experience.
Great food, Presentation was awesome. Had their version of surf n turf, duck fat fried rice with an egg, sushi, pot stickers and the tamarind glaze bbq ribs were all delicious. Everything I got had great flavor. The morimoto beer was really good, you get a full bottle of it.The servers and employees were great, they took care of us very well. Restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms. Our tables were a little too close to the other ones so we were close to other people, at least were we sat from. The bar was looks nice. The view was nice. Parking looked like there was a good amount of space, and a structure near by I believe.Overall an excellent experience with good food, good service nice views and a nice vibe.
Not sure if off night but service was not up to standard. Appetizer was really good but sushi was sub pair. Have had better sushi at our local restaurant.
1) Whitefish carpaccio - hot oil seared, yuzu soy, gralic, mitsuba 5/5 - refreshing with a punch! Best dish for the meal.2) Kakuni 10 hour pork belly, rice congee, soy scallion jus 4/5 - well seasoned and twndwe but nothing fantastic about it.3) Briased black cod, ginger soy reduction 3/5 - its cooked perfectly and the sauce is a bit too sweet in my opinion.4) Large Chefs combo sashimi 3/5 - fresh sashimi and nothing fantastic about it. For the price we paid I would rather buy it at Hmart.5) Lime white chocolate ganche, Coconut foam, mango sorbet, rice pudding 4/5 - surprisedly good and we love the pop rock candies.I would go back for the whitefish carpaccio and lime white chocolate ganche!!
Great high quality fish! We had their sashimi as well as their sushi combo. We ordered the mix green which we thought was to tarty/sour for our taste buds. Their duck fried rice is a must as well! It was so rich in flavor, but not too heavy. Great food, but service could have been better. Minus one star only because we had to get our server’s attention a few times (to ask for soy sauce, another glass of wine, as well as for our check).
Ive always wanted to go to a Morimoto restaurant, and finally had the chance during my birthday trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley. My fiancé and I got the 8 course meal..which I would recommend. It was literally a bit of everything. All of the plates looked very simple but were full of a lot of flavor. If you like good food, and youre in the area, I would recommend.
Quite good Japanese eatery. Food and service also nice. But it’s not high end quality or luxury place. And not really classy Japanese food but adopted.Prices are inadequately high for that level. We spent $500 for 4 persons without alcohol. No doubts, You could find another level of quality for that money.
Wow!! Excellent service, amazing fresh food, I didn’t even take all the pictures I needed to because we ate it so quick, it’s all to die for. It’s a must go if you’re in Napa
5 star sushi and a nice wine list. Not much more to say because it’s just excellent all around. Treat yourself and get the cuts of the best sushi you can’t find everywhere like toro or uni. Definitely eat here.
It is the house of an Iron Chef, my expectations are way high. Since not everything was perfect, cant quite give it the 5 stars. The morimoto sashimi appetizer was great and they gave you five different sauces where you can be creative with your food. I included my silly art work in the photos. I also got the Japanese uni, honestly I was a bit disappointed. Just the weekend before I got a pack of Hokkaidos uni from a Japanese grocery store and its just as freah and good but way cheaper. The duck meatball soup was a surprise, a fusion egg noodles soup with a hint of spicy in the duck meatball and a flavorful soup based. This goes well with a beer. And we also got the sea urchin carbonaraserved with a yolk which you mix it in the pasta. That turned into a yummy and creamy sauce on its own but it competes with the based carbonara sauce and was too much and too greasy. Luckily they saved the best for last and we were so delighted with the chilled cheesecake soufflé. The right amount of fluffiness while keeping it moist. I checked out many YouTube attempts and either is just fluffy and dry or moist and flat. This cheesecake soufflé was well balanced in both sweetness and texture, a MUST TRY!

This was incredible! Micheline star quality for sure! We didn’t include a picture of the chefs combo sushi we got because we ate it too fast. Easily some of the best sushi we have ever had. The bone marrow was to die for and the uni carbonara was perfect. Highly recommend this place! Will come here every time I’m in Napa!
Enjoyed the atmosphere, service. Can’t remember what the pricing was like but you can probably look it up. Tartar was really fun and special. Ask for rice with the cod/pork belly. Ramen was not as good as I had hoped. I’ve had much better at casual ramen houses. But other people at my table enjoyed it. Recommended and would go back but not in a hurry to do so.
Good, definitely better than your average sushi restaurant, but not exceptional and not worth the money. You can get that quality sushi for much less at a lot of places. I wouldn’t go back or recommend.
Love the Japanese fusion food here. Will definitely recommend it to friends. We ordered Toro Tartare, black cod, chef’s combination sushi and soft shell roll. Everything is tasty! Hope to come back and explore the rest of the menu.
Order the soft shell crab roll...it looked so good and tasted even better that we forgot to take a photo! Worth the splurge! Fantastic cocktails too😉
First time at Morimoto. Outstanding service and great food. While the food prices are a little pricey they are close to typical sushi prices in the rest of Napa. The ramen, while listed as a soup (which it is) is big enough to be an entree.

All the food we ordered are good and tasty. Love the gazpacho and seafood stew well presented. Overall everything is delicious outstanding.
Went to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. Food was phenomenal. Our server, Brooke, was terrible...barely acknowledged us and hardly checked up with us throughout. I saw she was more attentive with other tables, which was a shame. We were ready to throw down and spend some money on sushi and wagyu but given the shoddy service, we just wanted to get the hell out of there and go somewhere else before the night was totally ruined. I would give Morimoto a second chance...as long as Brooke was not our server.
Went there on a Saturday night. The Ribs were delicious and so was their Ramen I love the food here its so good. Their lychee Martini was nasty though. It tasted sour and hardly tasted anything like a lychee. I do not recommend their lychee martinis. Other than that the food came out fast and it was a good time.
The meals were prepared with exquisite care. Even the appetizer was a feast for the eyes. I very much enjoyed the cod which seemed to melt in your mouth. Leave room for dessert. The smores looked amazing.
I was expecting to be wowed by the food. Nothing stood out except for the plating .I can get the same flavors of Japanese food in a regular Japanese restaurant . Hostess was also a big disappointment . I came with my mom who was in a wheelchair and we were seated at the very last table in the patio.the hostess was unwilling to grant my request for indoor seating. After repeated attempts, the manager finally allowed us to dine inside but not my psychiatric service dog which I had to leave in my car . Definitely wouldn’t be coming back to this place nor would I recommend it .
One of the best food experiences we have ever had! I cant remember eating better sushi anywhere else. And its old school style maki sushi, as its traditionally served. Excellent oysters! Everything was a hit, and well worth the money. Will definitely go back.
Cool restaurant but some of the fish was not good.We came here for my birthday and ordered various sushi rolls, nigiri, the Black Cod and edamame bean appetizer. The Black Cod, Yellowtail and Edamame were all really good. The Salmon and Tuna sushi were very fishy tasting. The birthday ice cream was great.
Everything was amazing! Some of the best sushi I’ve had. Really enjoyed the Kakuni pork, shrimp tempura, and cheesecake soufflé.
Service average compared to other less popular destinations in California. We were given the patio table for two but asked to leave within an hour. I’ve had a better rolled sushi in a local supermarket (see the attached photo). Well done cocktails. Waited for check for at least 15 minutes after everyone was done. Literally had to take the credit card out on the table to get noticed.
Had a 7:30 Reservation. We were sat at the sushi bar. After ten minutes of sitting, I asked the sushi chefs if it would be possible to get a drink. They advised a waitress would come shortly. Shortly thereafter, a tall blond waitress stopped by and took our drink order. We waited for ten minutes and it did not appear our drinks were coming. We stood up and walked out of the restaurant. I have no doubt the food is good....it appeared to us that the wait staff are overwhelmed. We had a bad experience and cannot recommend this restaurant.
Fresh ingredients and amazing food! Salad and soup orders are family sized. We ordered the Calamari tempura salad. Order the dressing on the side so it doesnt overwhelm you. Fresh sashimi options. Big sushi portion. Great outdoor dining option in dowmtown Napa.
Sushi was pretty average and not anything special. The best thing we had were the ribs, which had a unique tasting sauce and flavor.

Had an amazing dinner here on our recent Trip. Everything was delicious and the fish was very fresh.
Nice ambiance. Hard to hear during busy dinner time. Food arrived quickly. Seafood toban yaki 3/5 stars. Dish is one note with a hint of acidity. Scallop and lobster claw very fresh. The rest is not quality seafood. Whole dish relies on the freshness of each ingredient and severly missed the mark. Braised black cod 4/5 stars. Cod is very fresh. Unfortunately the sauce is too sweet. Need more acidity than ginger to cut through and need some crunch. Dish texture is too soft. Desserts are just okay.Im disappointed as I expected a standard of quality eating at a Morimoto restaurant.
Ate at over 15 restaurants during our 9 day visit of Napa Valley. This was by far the worst of them. Food was average at best. Loud atmosphere. There are so many other choices that are better. Not worthy of the name on the sign. Avoid the Waygu Old Fashioned - disgusting
Overall, Disappointed!! Had high expectations of this place given the Iron Chef winner. The appetizer we had was good, however. The sauce in the White fish Carpaccio was great!!Next we had the Ishi Yaki Buri Bop - Disappointing! Its basically a glorified fish fried rice cooked tableside. Low on flavor, and low on quantity. Could work as an appetizer.Then came the most disappointing part. The Seafood Tobanyaki. For a North of $60 bowl of premium fish soup, it was totally overcooked! Lobster got chewy, shrimp got chewy, scallops were rubbery and mussels were barely edible. I do not recommend ordering this dish here.
Always a pleasant experience when I come here. I usually get the Omakase but decided to try some of the maki rolls and sashimi. Wonderful quality and great service. I will continue coming back here when I’m in town.

Food was great. Sushi was fresh, and delicious. We had soft shell crab maki, California roll with real snow crab, avocado roll. Miso soups (tofu and clam) were yummy, arrived at just the right temperature. Wagyu flat bread came with house made sweet potato chips and was wrapped in edible rice paper. Their version of a bento meal (lunch set) came with a main (ours was black cod with soy ginger reduction), vegetable tempura, miso soup, and assorted sushi. We had s’mores and the chilled cheesecake for dessert. Both arrived too pretty to eat, and very delicious. It would have been 5* if it didn’t take forever to get water refills, get missing silverware (teaspoon for coffee), soup spoons for soup, etc. and to get the dessert menu and the check.

Everything was delicious. The sushi melts in your mouth. Super flavorful and the plating is like art.
I was dissapointed with these three dishes: 1)Sea Urchin Carbonara was mushy because the pasta was way over cooked. 2)The Mori Cristo had too much of the soy liquid on the bottom and it soaked into the sandwich making it overwhelming. 3)Tuna Pizza had some very bitter red onion, acidity jalapeños, and sharp olives that clashed with the delicate taste of the tuna. In fact I could barely even taste the tuna.I was delighted with these two dishes: 1) Hamachi Tartare was amazing! Absolutely nothing bad about that dish. 2)Smore Desert was beautiful plated and very tasty.

Exceptional experience for a special group event in which we dined in the art gallery space. I didn’t take photos of that part but if you’re interested, I highly recommend touring it with their events staff. As expected since I’ve been to other Morimoto locations - The food, service [and setting{ were fantastic. Of particular note: the spicy sticky ribs. I didn’t get enough of those and could have eaten the whole platter myself. And I’m not when a ribs type of person when I normally have meat. Our event also went very late and it caused a problem with the parking garage which the staff handled amazingly. We were very grateful.
This visit to Morimoto was slightly disappointing.The last time I came here I left with wonder and amazement. It was a meal I described to many and always recommended. Get the omakase!Its been 5 years since I was able to return.I should point out omakase is my thing. I go and review them whenever I can.I was able to pull up pictures of my previous omakase and compare it to the current one.There were many similarities, however the changes were not for the better.The first 3 dishes were nearly identical but 2 were missing some of the extra artistry of my first visit.The chawan mushi included a lobster tail in the first one (along with more flavors). This chawan mushi was more mundane.The nigiri chosen for the first one was more expensive, better fish.The presentation of the surf and turf was just not appealing. It tasted fine but I expected, again, more artistry and creativity.The dessert was the same. (A dish of coconut foam with mango sorbet and pop rocks)On my first visit they had also presented a bonsai tree dessert as a bonus which really elevated the experience. The second time, it was the omakase with no variations.For this price point I expect a lot more. I have been to less expensive omakase that were better in presentation and flavors and more expensive ingredients.I think Morimoto stagnated a bit which was disappointing when it comes to their omakase. (So many repeats from 2014) Currently I would not choose to go there and have it again.Service was excellent. The food tasted good, but at that price point, I expect more as Ive seen others do better. If I didnt have a direct comparison with themselves, my review might not sound as negative. They still get 4 because of service and the fact that the food tasted fine.
Good food, but to be honest I was really expecting a show stopper from an Iron Chef’s restaurant. It was flavorful, seasoned well, but didnt really wow me or my date. I had thai halibut and she had angry chicken. Again, both dishes were good, just not what we were hoping for.

Very trendy atmosphere, with a high-end feel to it. The service was good, and the food was tasty. Get the Ishi Yaki Buri Bop, you wont be dissapointed.
The upbeat atmosphere makes this a lively spot for a drink. The decor is trendy and makes clever use grape vines. We came here for dessert and drinks. Very happy with both, I would love to go back for dinner. Service was fast and friendly and the seats were comfortable.
Like many others are saying, its just not worth the price. Food was mediocre at best, though I would say the Gyoza was just bad from concept, texture, and taste. It looked like a lump of placenta, honestly it was a bit gross. The filling of the Gyoza was also too hard and just not appetizing.We also got the Hamachi tartare and, honestly, the presentation was gimmicky and apparently required instructions on how to eat it. Personally, if your plating requires instructions, youre probably doing it wrong. Otherwise it was, again, just ok. They managed to make Hamachi taste a bit like spam.We got the Chefs Selection Sashimi and I could absolutely get better at a small hole in the wall place. The sashimi slices werent evenly sliced, which I would expect from a place like this. Some of our tuna was seared, or intended to be, but it was almost cooked through.Service was just ok. It took forever to get our drinks, and when we ordered they only brought one persons drinks, I think there was some confusion but the server didnt even question he was only bringing drinks to one person.I feel like we definitely shouldnt have stayed for the whole meal, but I can definitely say I wouldnt come back.
Create service and greater Japanese style Asian fusion food. It also has beautiful interior furnishings.We sat inside during a cloudy day during January, it was pretty cold inside.
Omakase ... 3rd time ordering this and it’s a little different each time. Overall dining experience was wonderful. Just a little disappointed with the vegetable portion size in the bagna cauda dish.
Extremely poor service!!! Do not recommend!!We ordered a sushi combo (1st course) and 2 mains (2nd course). Our friends ordered the 8 course omakase meal. By their 3rd of 8 courses, we had waited 30 mins at this point and our food still did not arrive. Our other friend had been accidentally served (we find out from the server later) his appetizer and ramen at the same time. He had FINISHED his meal and was ready for dessert. We are still waiting for our food.After following up and making it know to our server that we were upset at the wait, in another 5 minutes, our food came ALL at once making it difficult for us to enjoy our meal - the sushi should be eaten when served and the hot food also needed to be eaten to prevent overcooking and the food getting cold. Hardly what I expect for a fine dining experience.The server did not apologize for the delay or for the awkward position we were left in after all the food was served to us at once. She admitted the food should have been brought out to us in courses and did nothing to make up for their mistake.She brought us our group bill on one receipt without us asking. When we asked her to split it, it took her another 5 minutes to come back.Even though the food was decent, the incompetence and lack of service outright left a terrible taste in our mouths. Don’t come here unless you are prepared to be disappointed. Take your money elsewhere!!
My husband and I noticed we were not welcomed like the other guests around us. We were quite disappointed that we were not treated as nicely as other couples around us where they were getting full explanations, where we were getting brief interactions. We had to wait for a menu to become available for about 10 minutes after being seated and then we were given one menu and we had to share where others were given menus and asked if they would like to keep it with them.The food was too salty and not that great. We had the toro tartare which was just okay; pork gyoza which tasted like spicy italian sausage; we had the black cod which had too much sauce, was salty and over cooked; we also had some rolls which were bland and the wasabi didnt taste like real wasabi. For dessert, we had the mori-monkey bread where the filling was not delicious. It was a warm banana filling - which who likes to eat warm bananas?! Also the chocolate chip ice cream didnt have real chocolate chips, it was more like malt tiny balls.Overall, not a great experience. We will not be dining here again.
Delicious fancy Japanese food. I enjoyed everything I ordered especially the chasiu pork ramen. Loved the clear and flavorful broth. Ive had ramen at different popular ramen shops in the bay area, in DC, in NYC, in Tokyo, in Sapporo and so far this is the best!
Ive been a fan of Chef Morimoto for a long time, so naturally the chance to have dinner at the namesake in Napa is exciting. We had a small wait for our table, which we passed with some beer in the front lobby; very friendly and professional staff.Our table, while hilariously long for two people, actually filled up with dishes and allowed for moving plates comfortably and proper service. Every dish was phenomenal: Duck Ramen, Wagyu cooked tableside, chirashi, and a poprock laced pudding that crackled all the way down. Our server was awesome as well. One of the best meals and experiences in a long time.
Food and ambiance was good. Restaurant is decorated well and presentation of food is great. I fealt that service was not to the par and for such high end restaurant that is one of the most important ingredients, if service was better I would have given them 5 stars. I went there to celebrate my 10th anniversary and let alone doing something special, they did not even ask me for the occasion. I would recommend them doing that.
This place is a MUST! I was able to make a last minute reservation on a Sunday for my birthday but I suggest making reservations way ahead of time because it can get BUSY (especially Fridays and Saturdays). Theres a parking garage right across the street, super easy to find parking. Its a bit on the pricy side but the food is phenomenal! I had a bunch of different menu items and everything was delicious. Definitely recommend!

Files of lost photos that inspired my long overdue review. My visit to the Napa area for Wines, Food, and More was not complete until funny but when I got to eat at Morimoto Napa! This place was not on radar nor was it even a thought because I was in wine country. After tasting plenty of red and whites from around the area for two days, I was ready to eat something else besides cheese and meat plates with wine or steaks. Have this option to finish off my trip to the area was a great option! Like Arnold said Ill be back or was that the terminator? 🤷♂️
Service was great! The food was nah! Totally overpriced. If you’re vegetarian DO NOT come over here! Their vegetarian options are pretty much cucumber and rice.
Our go-to place for amazing Japanese food!We got a few cold and warm dishes, one thing to note is that they seem to bring out the cold dishes and then the warm ones.

We were super hype about our reservations. Chef was there and even came out to take a picture with us! We ordered omasake that totaled 200 a per person after tax and tip and we were party of 6. The food was a big disappointment. The fish was old and tasted fishy, the duck was red, and the wagyu was cooked well done and tasted awful. We found a bone in the squid (which was awful) and couldnt eat the beef, which is why we even decided to go with the omasake special. It was dry and flavorless. I ended the evening feeling very nauseous and woke up covered in hives and a rash from head to toe that was awful and all around my mouth. Never ever had an allergy to anything in my life until now. Fish was not fresh and certainly not worth the price. Benadryl and 40mg of prednisone later, hives improved. Big disappointment and shocker considering the hype and chef. Bathrooms were dirty. Waiter was great... great at selling .. Will not be back.

Great fresh food. Runs about 100 or so per person to do it right with wine etc. But very enjoyable.
The sushi was very fresh (good rice too - which is always underappreciated) and the black cod was incredible. The matcha creme brulee was tasty too!!
Shout out to AMIR who was so proud of his job and life working for this restaurant for 14 years he explained how blessed he was to be there! His pride in his work showed!! He bragged on the restaurant, his employer and he truly made our experience better! Big love for Amir and this amazing food, drinks, service was top notch. He shared how consistency is the key in all their restaurants. From the menu to the serving, now that is truly the key to success!! We will return and thank you even more to Amir for reminding us of our blessings everyday!!!
Hi, Morimoto Napa. Thank you for a lovely dining experience today.My party of 3 included 2 elderly individuals who needed special accommodations. One was in a wheelchair, and the other walked with a walker. The server assigned to our table was very considerate of their needs. I can’t remember his name, but our table was check # 30013 on 09/06/2022. Thank you for your service today, sir. Greatly appreciated.Lastly, but not least, we enjoyed the food. Lived up to the Morimoto name 👍
Sushi and sashimi are very fresh and tasty.It’s very fancy restaurant around Napa downtown.
Its ok in my book but not worth the price. Overall I still find it to be five stars because the staff attentiveness and perfect timing on food coming to your table. The steak in my opinion was very salty. My wife wishes they didnt pour the sauce on for her at the table because it made it even more salty. The blistered shishitos werent blistered but cooked until they were mushy. I enjoyed the nigiri and found the house shoyu to be pleasant. Overall a good experience but I probably wont go again.
Off the charts in all categories. We have a great experience with the tasting menu. Service was informative and they made it fun.
I enjoyed my early dinner there. No complaints! My fire ball dessert was fun, but it didnt quit live up to what I had maybe made it up to be! I would try again.
Food was ok... service was terrible. Out of 8 courses in the tasting menu, 6 sat on our table getting cold while we waited for either the wine pairing or utensils. We ordered a hot tea at the beginning and it didnt come out until after the 3rd course. One of the courses came out with two wines and our waiter said he didnt know why. In other words, he didnt even know the menu that he was serving us. It turned out that one of the wines was supposed to come out with the next course, but he accidentally brought both out and then blamed the kitchen staff. He also didnt know anything about the wines being served but said at one point, Ill have to ask the sommelier about that, but of course he never followed up. Pretty disappointing when the meal cost over $200 per person!As for the food, it was alright. Several dishes had very interesting presentation, and the red snapper in a curry sauce and fried banana was paired very nicely with a refreshing riesling. However, a couple dishes were too salty (e.g. thinly sliced white fish completely submerged in soy sauce).
Great restaurant, sat at the sushi bar. Tempura shrimp is a MUST.Very fresh and tender morsels of sushi.Would highly recommend for a nice evening out.
Extremely disappointed by Morimito, Napa, CA, at two levels:a) ordered tamarind glazed ribs as appetizer and ginger soy reduction fish and ... none ...but None had any flavor.....!!! non-existent flavors, very blend, very sweet, cheap teriyaki sauce!!!b) after we complained to our nice waiter to convey our message to the chef and after he seemed to talk to a manager...Nobody ever came back to us to hear our dissatisfaction..Never!We eat at various level restaurants and there is always some attention to client service. Morimoto & staff completely ignored Client !Complete & unacceptable disrespect!We were not only dissatisfied with the service but outraged & frustrated by its very heavy price ....2x compared to other decent restaurants !!!Besides its nice decor, I wouldnt recommend this pretentious establishment.
Bowen and I celebrated our fourth anniversary here. The sushi, cod and duck confit fried rice were all home runs 🍣🦆🐟 Their collection of Japanese whiskey is very impressive 🥃🤘The sake flight is so good it actually has a layover in Japan 🍶🇯🇵 Im happy to say that Morimoto is one of the Japanese best places in the entire bay area 😀

Very good dining experience .. attentive wait staff .. we ordered a couple appetizers .. including the Rock shrimp which were a play on a tempura bangbang type shrimp dish .. we also got the Toro Tartare which was pretty amazing.. we ordered the chefs combination meal omakase type dinner in which the chef picked out sashimi and rolls for the table.. overall very good experience .. the Wagyu Old Fashion was interesting but not sure I would order again
We selected the Omakase menu based on the one featuring uni, our favorite sea urchin. Unfortunately we were told later that they had ran out of uni and restaurant did nothing to replace the missing ingredient, merely informed us that another table had ordered all the remaining uni. Needless to say we were very disappointed with their customer service.
Very nice experience. The food was great and our service was top notch. If you like Japanese, definitely recommend.
Fish was really fresh, drinks were good and the staff is super nice. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because the nori (seaweed) was really soggy and not crispy/fresh as it should be. Hope the nori is better next time I come, because I intend to come back!
The family tried Morimoto Asia after visiting Morimoto (main) several times. I have had wonderful experiences at the latter each time. However, Asia was a significant step down in terms of the experience. For example:+ Took 15 minutes to place order over the phone. Was placed on hold so long that we had to call back.+ Timing for food was estimated to be 15-20 minutes, but ended up being 30 minutes. The timing wasnt the problem, but the estimate by the host.+ Host welcoming guests at the restaurant (who also took order) was dismissive.+ Of the four items ordered, 1 entirely missing, another missing an add on, and a third had one of the sauce ramekins dumped over the food by the person packing the order.+ When calling back about the missing food, was told a refund can be done, but not over the phone. But, the manager would call back tomorrow to give us a refund over the phone. What?+ The food we did receive was quite bland. Its hard to imagine how this restaurant is related to Mori Main and is such a contrast in quality.Im disappointed to write a review like this, as there are few local options for one of our favorite cuisines. Hopefully this experience was an anomaly. Well share the same with the manager, and hope it will be a good learning opportunity for the team.

Took my Wife to Morimoto in Napa today. It is to Japanese food, like PF Changs is to Chinese, at 3 times the price. My recommendation is, if you love PF Changs and dont mind spending 3 times more then go, but if you actually appreciate Japanese food, then dont.Would give 3 stars if in PF Changs price range
The chef’s sashimi choices were beyond delicious and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. I will say the items are a bit pricy and gluten free items are not labeled on the menu but the server was very knowledgeable on what was safe for me to eat. If I were to go back I would definitely order the salmon & tuna again.
Appetizers and desert were very good, but the sushi and nigiri was underwhelming - dry and bland. Maybe my expectations were too high...
Delicious, fresh, and well made sushi, sashimi, and maki rolls. We were a bit overwhelmed with the menu and the waiter had some excellent suggestions. Everything came out quickly and was executed amazingly well. Deserts were both very unique and hit the spot. I would highly recommend.
Best experience was the service. Sushi was basically grocery store quality, so maybe the entrees are better. Also an extremely loud environment so not good for date nights unless you sit outside.
This place is excellent! Fantastic food and the best service I seen in the US. All dishes were served at the same time with a host of servers.
Only giving it 2 stars because of their service. They arbitrarily changed an already perfect Chili Chili chicken dish by replacing the bite-size, boneless chicken, with whole chicken drums and thighs. I felt like I was eating at Popeyes under subdued lighting... greasy hands and everything (without the focused flavor that we loved). Why, why, why? A heads up would have definitely led us to not go there again... although the basil fried rice is still an excellent dish. My wife gave me all of her chicken to which, I couldn’t muster asking for a “to-go box”!
Hands down the freshest and best tasting sashimi Ive had. Our waitress was very friendly and offered a lot of suggestions for first timers. The decor of the restaurant was very nice as well.
Food decent; service HORRIBLE.Went to Morimoto Napa at end of September 2018 and it was one of the worst fine dining experiences Ive ever had. The food was actually decent, but the service was ghastly. We had a party of 10 and our food did not arrive in order, and people got their food at all different times. Our server Ashley tried to blame it on the kitchen and also admitted that she made a mistake giving the same item to the wrong person at the wrong time, creating the messed up serving order. I expressed very clearly to her how disappointed I was but all I heard were excuses and not a single sincere apology. Did not offer anything in compensation. Outrageously bad service and attitude. The food was decent. We had the Black Cod, Toban Yaki and the 52 dollar Sashimi bowl. However, they all came LATE, all at once, and others at the table were ready for dessert by the time we got our mains. Again, restaurant admitted they messed up, but did not even apologize with any sincerity and did NOT offer ANYTHING in compensation, not even an offer for a free dessert. What kind of dining experience is this? Also, everything we asked of her was slow as molasses. Bad server, even worse management. Ive had better service at fast food. Never again, not recommended.
Anyone at this point that is unsure of the type of meal you’re going to get by walking into one of this guy’s restaurants would surprise me. Hes a worldwide known culinary master who is also an Iron Chef and TV personality. What you’ll notice immediately is the quality of detail he put into the design and everything that is a part of the restaurant itself... the quality and pride in ownership were astounding.The service, quality of fish, variety available, and overall rating of this place is five stars...easily.I was most impressed with how this is not just a sushi bar or seafood restaurant. The pork chop and ribs, various steaks, and other non-seafood options were all incredible also.
Absolutely delicious!! Get the sticky ribs, cod, and dont forget the smores dessert. So so good! Unique twist on Japanese/sushi dishes.
Its exactly what youd expect for an iron chefs restaurant. The food was superb in terms of quality AND flavor. The servers were on top of their game with service. The its exact type of atmosphere youd expect for this level of establishment. All in all absolutely A+. Must try and go if you can afford!
High price low quality… We ordered two food sets of so 164 per person (includes tax and tips)The food makes me feel having a dinner in my college dinning court （10-dollar buffet）. Very dissapointed. The steak tastes very terrible(meat is not good and not fresh). The dessert is just like the 2 dollar one on the street.
The food and service was excellent. The noise level is high when eating inside. What I did not like was the profanity used by tables around us.
Morimoto Las Vegas is never disappointed us. Napa follows that precedence. We are very happy with all the food and the service.

Morimoto has some amazing options for lunch or dinner. Very fresh sushi rolls and sashimi, along with hot and cold appetizers. The tempura shrimp appetizer was fabulous and included both hot and sweet tempura shrimp as well as Wasabi flavored. Reservations generally required.

Unfortunately, the advertised French fries tasted like old vegetable oil, and though we returned them, we were still charged. Overall, a mixed experience, and we may not return.

2023-09-26 22:09:24Cannot fault the food - the dishes were nice, sashimi fresh but somehow, there was something lacking from the overall meal that prevented me from rating this higher. We had a booking of 8 - restaurant was full for a Thursday evening and the atmosphere was busy but not rowdy. Our server was fine, nothing outstanding & had to explain the menu a couple of times. We had a sashimi platter - fresh but nothing out of the ordinary. The main dishes were a little more innovative but other than the chicken, dish portions were rather small. Desert was special but overly sweet! We had an OK evening here. Nothing to shout about but I guess you’re in Napa so expect to pay high prices. Overall service was really slow and we had to wait a long time between courses. Perhaps my expectations were a little too high (fan of the Iron Chef) so perhaps my review is based on my expectations of being blown away by an amazing meal.

Service was a little slow and it took awhile between each courses to come out. Service was impeccable and our waters were being refilled constantly.The food was good but not great. Nothing really blew my mind. The toro tartare was small but presentation was on point. The wagyu beef capaccio was perfect. The pork chop was tender and the desserts were delicious without being overwhelmingly sweet, just how us Asians like it.Overall, I had a lovely meal and really enjoyed my time here. I had originally planned to go to their location in Honolulu but something came up so Im glad I got to try this location.

2023-08-17 22:48:21Me and my boyfriend went for our anniversary and got the edamame and the $150 sushi platter and it was such a perfect amount, we got so full from it and the food was phenomenal. Samantha was an amazing server, she was so spot on with her recommendations, accommodating our allergies, and she had such a positive and kind demeanor. The food came out at a good pace and she even surprised us at the end with a scoop of their honey milk ice cream with a candle in it for our anniversary. Wonderful experience 10/10

Almost all of the food was amazing except I have to be truthful the sashimi needs to be better quality for the price we are paying, not fresh and the Maguro waa tough, but the appetizers were oh my goodness our taste buds were going crazy. So overall, Im glad I was able to try Chef Moromotos food.

2023-11-21 21:07:33I was disappointed!! The place is very nice but it is over priced for the quality. I don’t mind paying for good sushi but I was underwhelmed by the quality and presentation. The ambiance is nice but is loud. Drinks are very good and appetizers too. If you still want to go, the tuna taco and the ribs are excellent. Sushi is ok but not worth the price, I have better sushi for less. Salmon was fishy. Shrimp tempura roll and the scallops were very simple. FYI this review is for Morimoto Napa, we did not went to Morimoto Asia

2023-08-13 03:03:03Iron Chef for a reason. Tried my first ever wagyu steak here and it was just insane. Great portions for the price as well. Morimoto has amazing integrity to serve high end food with good portion sizes. What an experience!
