Come here for quality sushi in a very casual atmosphere. Friendly staff. Nice specials and a lot of seafood sourced from Japan, and the price is reasonable considering (not cheap but reasonable). Will be back!

COME HERE IF YOU WANT AN AUTHENTIC AND FRESH SUSHI EXPERIENCE!I came on a Thursday night and while it was quiet, I was greeted immediately and sat immediately. The waiters and staff are very polite and attentive! I sat at the sushi bar and was fortunate enough to meet Gyu, one of the sushi chefs. I had the salmon belly, chu-toro, and yellowtail with fresh ground wasabi!The flavors and portions blew me away. I was also fortunate to have the seared toro and uni that just blew my mind.I think this place is a gem and is a very authentic establishment. Please give it a try!

We considered going to sugarfish or kazunori but didn’t want to wait a long time on a Saturday night so we went here. No wait. seated immediately.The best part was their fresh scallop sashimi pictured here.Everything else though was sadly not up to par. Not horrible but not incredible for the price. We paid $380 for 3 people, one beer only, which is almost more than I think we would’ve ended up paying at Kazu or Sugarfish but the quality wasn’t there for the food. Still we enjoyed our servers and they were very nice. When we ordered the scallop again at the end it tasted like they gave us the cheaper frozen ones but they said they didn’t but it looked and tasted different.We probably would not come back again.

A very special restaurant with amazing service and incredible sushi. I would definitely recommend this spot for the sushi bar, call ahead and reserve a spot at the bar so you can watch the masters in action. They offer a revolving menu with different fish most times we come based on season. The style is more typical Japanese in both service and food. So the items on the menu are a bit different to a lot of other American - Japanese places nearby.Nozomi and Ken are wonderful, I hope you are lucky to have them! The place is a little unassuming but what they can plate up rivals some of the best. Usually between $50-100 per person depending on your taste and appetite. Come and I’m sure you’ll become one of the regulars who are always there!!

Very decent place. It has a bit of no frills look, but the service is excellent. The owner is there to greet you and seat you. He was very attentive to our needs, and managed to serve a decent omekase menu vegetarian style. Impressive they managed to do it without serving fish. Noise level pretty good and there is also a nice outdoors roof top area

First time here. Sat outside. Probably wouldnt drive from far away but we live just up the street.Karage chick was yummy but we had to ask for a fun dipping sauce. Monk fish liver was delightful, but spendy compared to some of our other west side favorites.Always love the gobo salad.In the end, solid meal, but a little expensive compared to some of our usual haunts and not quite as special.

Update 2022: We returned almost 3 years later and it is still our favorite sushi restaurant here. The service is truly extraordinary. Taka is wonderful and takes the time to talk to his customers. All of our food was incredible. Its worth every penny.2019: Would highly recommend! The sushi rolls were amazing! The CA roll was made with fresh fish, rather than the usual imitation crab. We could tell everything that we ordered was made fresh. The miso soup, the eggplant, the corn tempura, the rolls and edamame were delicious. One of the sushi chefs made us a special treat and it was much appreciated! The service was outstanding. We left wanting to go back.

Excellent spot in Marina del Rey. Service is awesome, Miyu is very professional and will advice you well. Fish is fresh, we tried sashimi, sushi, rolls and they were all delicious. We also had gyoza and eggplant and it was yummy. They have sake, beers and wine. We had green tea ice cream to finish this exquisite lunch. Arigato I will definitely come back and recommend.

Hands down my favorite sushi on the westside. Moto always has a fresh selection of daily specials, and the quality of the fish is in matched. Ken is the chef behind the bar most nights, it’s very fun to watch him work. Be sure to try the fresh scallops, the chawanmushi, and the chu toro.

After refusing to wait over an hour to get into The Cheesecake Factory my partner and I decided to head here for some sushi instead. We were delighted to learn that there was no wait and we could be seated immediately.I truly didnt care for all of the information required for seating (name, email, phone number). To me this seemed unnecessary, invasive, and excessive. Nonetheless we were seated on their patio for dine in service.We both ordered the miso soup as a started which was incredibly underwhelming. Perhaps more miso and greens would have made it more satisfactory.The sashimi appetizer was nice and I would reccommend to anyone considering a visit. I also ordered the caterpillar roll which was quite good as well.

I was brought here by my Japanese bosses on a business trip from Japan, and it is by far the best sushi I have ever tried in the US, and it came close to the best sushi I have tried in Japan. Every piece of sushi is excellently crafted to roll over on your tongue and spill out a colorful mix of flavors and textures before coagulating into extremely delicious after tase. Try the shrimp which writhes back to life with a touch of sauce. The chef here is also excellent at pairing drinks with your plate. And the sesame ice cream desert is a perfect finish. Its a father-son restaurant, run to the T. You can imagine the head waiter carrying a yard stick to encourage everyone to provide the perfect experience for guests. Definitely worth a visit.

A welcomed surprise to the neighborhood. It was my first time there and I initially thought the place mightve been slightly expensive when compared to other local sushi places, but when I tasted the first piece of sushi I felt this was the best deal in town! The service is attentive and the food is amazing! The fatty tuna and salmon rolls are a must!

I knew this sushi restaurant long ago but I didnt expect that such delicious sushi would be eaten!! The sushi they make is perfect and reminds me of Japan. If you eat sushi here, please eat Nigiri-zushi(hand-formed sushi) instead of rolled sushi. That way, you should feel Japan as well :)

Visited our daughter out here in Marina Del Ray and she recommended this location for sushi. We may be spoiled by our local Asian Restaurants in CT and NY. We felt the portions were kinda small and the prices were kinda high for what your getting. For example $13.50 for a California roll without real crab meat back home is 1/2 the cost and bigger slices.The sushi itself was good. The take out process was seamless. Parking in lot was too tight for a minivan.

Don’t come here if you are trying to make a walk-in takeout order. The server/employee I talked to was new but was the only one nice enough to help us, everyone else pretty much ignored our presence. It was a little busy but we still waited an hour to learn that they had not even started on our order after having to be pushy and ask what was happening. Looks good otherwise but portions seem small, there are many other Japanese places that give a lot more food for around the same price.

This is a great place to dine if you are an experienced sushi eater with an adventurous palate. The rolls are not described very well and its more of a gamble on what you are ordering, unless you are experienced in ordering sushi. If you are wanting to try it for the first time and are used to more Americanized dishes, I would recommend looking elsewhere. There wasnt anything here that left me impressed and I likely wont return, because I am more of a fan of Americanized sushi. The staff here is very attentive and it is obvious they are passionate about this restaurant.

Staying at the Marriott and Im SO glad I chose to eat here instead of the hotel lobby. The salmon avocado rolls were perfect - perfect texture, flavor, and size. The cucumber rolls were also the perfect ratio or rice to cucumber. No pictures available because one bite and I couldnt put down the chopsticks. I will definitely be eating here again.

Friendly service from start to finish! I went in alone and was greeted and served very quickly. Im gluten free so I asked about gluten free soy sauce and they did have it and I tried to customize a roll and since it wasnt too busy, I was able to do that. Sushi was pretty good, prices were a little on the higher side, it was like 12$ for 1 roll and $3 per avocado roll which had more rice than avocado. It was close to my hotel and Ill definitely keep it in mind as a close option the next time Im in California for work.

When you are in LA you have to get sushi and this little sushi bar was just the ticket. We told our server we wanted to try everything and boy did he deliver! Great sake recommendations, brought us small flights of beers and the rolls were divine. Could have spent hours going up and down the menu. Try the rainbow roll!

Dont waste your time ordering food online or over the phone. First attempt was 1hr mins wait. Which was a phone order.2nd attempt was 1HR 40mins WAIT.3RD ATTEMPT was for Uber Eats to pick up. They literally kept the driver waiting for over 2hrs just for 6 items. I had to tip the driver more for her time that was wasted. She could have done more trip in that hour order than waiting. I appreciate her kind gesture.The staffs are nothing to write home about, they only attend to sit in customers not caring a sec about pick up customers.Never stepping a foot here ever.

Heres the deal: this is about as genuine as it gets when it comes to real authentic Japanese sushi. Almost all the fish is from Japan, the chefs are masters of the traditional Japanese culinary, the space is very small as well to give it an even more Japanese authenticity. This is a no frills, hardcore authentic Japanese sushi lovers place. I wouldnt recommend bringing your kids with you because its just not that kind of restaurant. And another thing: this aint cheap... But its the closest thing you can get to getting authentic Japanese sushi without buying a plane ticket to Japan.

So the sushi was OK nothing special. Everything was over priced. When I see high prices for sushi i give it a shot anyway see if it was worth it. Not in this case. I found it funny that the most popularly ordered Rainbow Roll which is 12 to 14 max at all places was 18 here. Same with Catapilar Roll and the 2 piece sushi most places is 6 max here its 8. Over priced with food just OK. Service was good but not looking to pay there rent.

Great for a local sushi joint. I had toro, wagyu, uni, and a salmon roll. The toro and wagyu were excellent, with the toro melting in my mouth as expected, and the wagyu seared deliciously, the uni was good, with not quite the depth of flavor you might find at a fancier place, but I was happy with the price I paid for all three. The salmon roll was flavorful and filling.Service was fast and jovial, and the sushi chefs were friendly.

Don’t ever order delivery from any app on this place. If you don’t get your food they don’t care and will keep hanging up on you when you call to inquire. And will keep the money that was paid. I was going to call the cops but reported them to Doordash who handled the situation very well and granted the refund. That’s what happened to me last night. If you eat there it seems ok and the food not bad. But if any issues arise or if you get delivery they don’t care about resolving any issues they cause. They have been reported to Doordash and Doordash said it was unacceptable and have filed a report. Alex is the rudest employee and probably owner I have ever experienced. I have never been met with such anger and a I don’t care about you attitude. He even said that to me that he could care less and doesn’t have the time. It’s the first time in my life I didn’t receive a delivery and the restaurant said too bad and kept the money. Very strange way of running a business. More like a scam.

The fiance brought me here for an early Valentines Day Dinner and what a find! this is going to be our new go-to sushi place!we had the Kusshi Oysters, Akamutsu (fatty white fish), Toro, Salmon, Ankimo - Simmered (Monkfish liver), Dragon Roll, & of course ended with a scoop each of Hojicha and Black Sesame Ice Cream. EVERYTHING was delicious and the sushi was fresh!Moto Azabu cures their own Salmon and it is absolutely delicious. they are most known for their Toro - definitely try both the Salmon & the Toro. also try the Ankimo (simmered) b/c not many places have the simmered version.the fiance almost put some shoyu (soy sauce) on his Akamutsu piece by mistake but Taka-san stopped him just in time.the scoops of ice cream reminded me of my visits to Namba in Osaka, Japan and Arashiyama in Kyoto, Japan...i told the fiance, i dont want to contribute this find to Google Guide World b/c i want to keep this place a secret so we dont ever have to wait!but alas, sharing is caring & yalls should experience the delicious sushi at Moto Azabu.どうもありがとうございます Masa-san, Ken-san, Taka-san, & Jose for the wonderful and delicious meal! we plan on becoming regulars!
