I have been thinking for a long time if I should write this review. Because the place is exceptional in all area and we just wanna keep it for ourselves, but that would be such a selfish thought! Everyone should be able to taste good food because that is the happiest part in life for many of us :)This place has everything you ever asked for. They are family-owned restaurant and my husband and I love Korean food. We have tried so many and agreed on this one as the best one in SF! The taste is just right, not too tasty but tasty, not too spicy but spicy. All the tastes are balanced out so perfectly!Speaking of the environment and service, it feels like they are family to us! They are such a cute and kind family and I think kindness is kinda hard to find these days. We are so lucky we have lived just 2 blocks away from the restaurant. We would come here every week and every other week because we miss the food and we miss everyone who works there so much ♥️If you love Korean food, you should not mix this place. It will be another perfect spot for you. It tastes just like mama’s home cooking to me 🥰I would give 10 stars if they have 10 stars for us to fill! We’ll be back for more!!! 🫶🏻

Nestled in the quiet Inner Richmond, this homey Korean restaurant is definitely underrated. All the food we ordered was like someone’s Korean grandma cooked it for us. Portions were great, all the eemos were friendly, and I would say this is as authentic as you can get. Don’t waste your time on overpriced Korean food elsewhere! (Not pictured is the Soft Tofu Soup. It was healing :)

Fantastic service and food! Relaxed atmosphere and they easily accommodated a larger group of 6 and gave us the tofu soup on the house. The Gal Bee and Duk Boki were incredible.

Tasty food, good value for price.I ordered the bibimbap to go and received two plastic containers filled with an assortment of side dishes, along with a small takeout box with rice. Everything was really tasty and my order was ready in just a few minutes. I paid less than $20 and I would visit again. If youre dining in, theres plenty of seating, but its a popular place, so it might be tougher later into the evening.

A small neighborhood business located on the SW corner of 5th Avenue and Balboa in the Richmond District. Driven by many times and decided to grab the lunch special. Two lunch combos: 1) spicy pork and tofu soup, and 2) bulgogi and tofu soup. I ordered about 1pm and it was ready quick - within 10 mins. Flavor for both were decent although the bulgogi could have used some more flavoring. Although I got it to go, the tofu soup was still piping hot by the time I got it back to work and ate it! I like my soup hot so that was a bonus for me. With they could have given us a little more baan chaan on the sides because there nice and fresh. The veggies were full of crunch and I liked their kim chi. Next time because their veggies were so good I’m going to try the bibimbap!

If you want to eat authentic Korean food, this is the place. Whenever I miss Korea, I try to go there. The owner/server lady was super nice and the food was delicious! The only thing that I really dont like is that its too far from my place! I wish this restaurant was near my place so that I could go there more often.😄

UPDATE 7/2022: They recently renovated the whole place so its now got a more modern aesthetic. They also raised the price of their menu items but I still find the food to be worth it!A quaint little neighborhood restaurant with a very homey and cozy atmosphere. Its usually empty when I go there in the evenings, but it gets pretty packed on holidays and weekends. They have a descriptive and illustrated menu. Good food with generous portions and complimentary sides. Service is really good. Seated and served water right away. Wait time after ordering is usually around 5-10 mins, 5 mins for the side dishes and not much longer for the main. Great place, been here several times for dinner.

Came here for lunch with some family on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was a bit rough, but we eventually found a spot. The restaurant was unassuming from outside and had a few people dining inside. We ordered the hot stone bibimbap, spicy cold noodles, and seafood pancake. The waitress was very nice and even gave us a tofu soup on the house!! We had never tried spicy cold noodles and they were very tasty! The noodles were a bit difficult to bite through, but it was a great dish to try. The seafood pancake was huge and had a lot of fillings. The bibimbap was also really tasty. The tofu soup was also really good and I would probably order it for my next visit. I loved this little restaurant and plan to come again.

A bit pricy at about $30 a head but the food is quite good. When we were there, all the other tables were filled with Koreans. And there is no obvious decoration to make to place appeal to non Koreans. The operating hours are also limited. What this all means is its all in the food. The food is what makes customers come here.

Lunch menu is reasonably priced. The food is good. Meat is seared in a pan and not over charcoal like other places but is still good. Rice texture is good. I ordered Galbi. Lunch comes with free spicy tofu soup. This is a good alternate on Wednesday when my primary Han il Kwan is closed. The place fills up at noon time but has no line. For the same price there are slightly better quality Korean places that sear over wood coal but this place is great for a neighborhood Korean restaurant.

I loved the food. Flavorful, great portions, quick service -- really nothing more I can ask for.The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel cared for. I have no friends. The person in the picture, the one serving himself glass noodles, is actually a stand-in/ performance dinner mate that the servers will provide to accompany exceptionally lonely customers. I, of course, am exceptionally lonely, and without hesitation, the server asked the man to sit and eat dinner with me.This is the first time in my life that I have felt friendship.I do have to apologize to the restaurant -- staff and guests -- for my outburst. I should not have torn off my clothes, nor should I have began using chicken bones as a weapon. I had not come to terms with the reality that my dinner gues was merely doing his job.Despite this, thank you muguboka for making me full -- of amazing Korean dishes and friendship.

Very cozy, homely, non-descript Korean restaurant in a sleepy neighborhood in the Inner Richmond / Balboa Hollow. The place is run by an old Korean couple and it looks like the wife does most of the work while the husband is watching Wheel of Fortune on TV. Ah, good ol Asian patriarchy...just kidding.Wife and I were craving Korean food so we dropped by here for the first time and only one other table was occupied at around 8pm. Closer to 9pm more and more tables started filling up and the place was nearly full! I wonder if its b/c of the daylight savings time.Anyhoo, we ordered 2 dishes - a beef soft tofu soup and a spicy calamari dish sauteed with veggies. Both were delicious. They even gave us a complimentary plate of Korean seafood pancakes, mmm. The side dishes and food were all delicious and had an authentic home-made feel to it.I think we found our new favorite Korean restaurant within walking distance, score!

This place is really cozy and the food reminds me of my moms cooking. I was impressed how quickly everything came out to the table! The first time I came here a month ago, I ordered daeji bulgogi (spicy pork), which was flavorful and delicious, along with soondubu (spicy tofu soup) in an affordable lunch combo.My fiance and I had a late Valentines Day dinner here tonight and we ordered the kalbi (short ribs) and soondubu combo, ojingeo bokkeum (spicy stir fried squid), goon mandu (pan fried potstickers) and they gave up complimentary hameul pajeon (seafood pancakes). The kalbi was tender and juicy. The ojingeo was perfectly spicy and flavorful with a good amount of tentacles (my favorite part of the squid lol). The mandu and pajeon were crispy and hot. They provide plenty of banchan (side dishes) and hot tea.I really enjoy this place and hope to visit again when Im craving Korean food, which wont be too long from now. :) I also noticed many other Korean families eating here, which is a good sign. I highly recommend this place.

I loved this restaurant was here dozens of time’s previous. But came on Memorial Day and it was terrible. The servers skipped over us in line to help the Korean customers first. The food was also terrible no flavor and undercooked. Also had toAsk repeatedly for items such as egg for tofu stew. Not sure if I’ll try again. We arrived during lunch time and there was no wait time. My ex (father of my kids) is Korean and ordered everything for us (group of 6, 3 adults & 3 kids). Im not too sure what was ordered as my husband was talking to the owner about the menu in Korean the whole time and he wasnt too sure what my sister would eat since shes a picky eater but everything was delicious, everyone liked all the dishes and we all left VERY full. Price was well worth it! Clean, good for families and very nice owners! The Dolsott Bibimbap (#45) was so good- my top recommendation for a first time visitor. Appetizers were all fantastic, and they brought a complimentary item to the table. The one waitress was working really fast and efficiently to serve the entire restaurant as well as delivery orders, but we could have eaten much faster by reading the menu ahead of time and ordering as soon as we got in.

Came back to visit this Korean restaurant after the prolonged shutdown. They are able to keep the same menu and the same delicious food as before! ( Another near by Korean restaurant had its menu changed due to Covid 😬). This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the city. The place is family owned and they are always extremely friendly. Additionally, this place is known for having lots of ban chan included in the meals. I love trying out all the side dishes. I normally get a meat with tofu soup combination. Ive tried all the meats before and it is excellent. If Im ever with a large party i also get the korean pancake with seafood.

We came here for dinner one night. Its a very cute mom-and-pop type of restaurant with complementary green onion pancake (yay!). Our dinner was okay, nothing too exciting from the food. My soup was.. interesting. The server must have mistaken my order of Kim Chee Jjige soup for the Sundae Gook soup. The sausages in this one were closer to blood pudding than sausage. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. Overall, still a nice place for dinner.

These guys give you a crazy amount of banchan (side dishes), but none of them taste outstanding. In addition, they also seem to comp a seafood pancake sometimes too. The servings here are a bit small and the food quality is mediocre, but you get a lot of bang for the buck. This place is really popular and seems to often have a wait on the weekends.

We were craving Korean food and decided to visit this restaurant while we were in SF. The Restaurant is pretty easy to spot and parking wasn’t hard to find. We went in around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. The place wasn’t very big but felt cozy. The décor was basic and homey. The restaurant and bathroom was clean.Service: The two ladies who run the restaurant were friendly and attentive. We were really thirsty and needed the teapot refilled often. They were really nice about it and refilled when needed. If we finished one of the small side dishes (banchan), they’d offer to give us more.Food: They served a delicious complimentary Korean barley tea, which tasted great. They also included a good variety of at least a dozen banchan. The food was served hot. They gave us a free seafood pancake (hae mool pa jun), which was nice and crispy on the outside and not too dry on the inside. They have a decent selection of items on the menu. My go-to Korean food is the tofu soup (Soondubu Jjige) especially on a cold day. Their kimchi tofu soup was delicious with the perfect amount of spice. The tofu almost “melts in the mouth”. Portions were average size and looked good. A lot of places will skimp on the meat but Muguboka had a good amount. One of us had leftovers. They also topped off with a refreshing sweet rice drink for dessert.Prices: Pretty average prices for Korean food. Add in the free pancake and barley tea and it’s better than a lot of other Korean places.Overall: I’d definitely go back for more. Friendly service, free seafood pancake, barley tea, and affordable Korean food? Sounds great to me. Great place to eat after touring SF on a cold day.

What a great place for lunch. If you are in the area be in de Young or Science Academy, take a 10 mins walk and youll be here. Lady was very hospitable and the food was very delicious. A family owned Korean kitchen that makes authentic home-style Korean cuisine. Even the neighborhood makes it feel like you are at a home rather than a restaurant. I came for an early dinner and was greeted by all the friendly Korean aunties.The banchan here was good and my table ordered a variety of dishes: SoonDubu (w/ bulgogi for myself), pork intestines with pork blood, and bibimbap. The portions here were a good size and all the food was hearty and had soul. My soondubu wasnt too spicy but still had nice flavor. The bibimbap was on point with just the right amount of crispy rice. I was too afraid to try the pork intestines, but it was an item that I havent seen at most Korean places. First of all parking is a nightmare there, more than most places in SF. But if you manage to find a parking space, you are in for some real good Korean food.The staff, unlike most korean restaurant, are extremely friendly. We came on a rainy and slow day around 9 and were the only ones there, even though they seemed at first they wanted to close early, they served us with a smile the whole way through.The spicy bbq pork is as good as it can be.
