My Friend Mikes pizza is OUT OF THIS WORLD. You can instantly tell what is important to this restaurant and crew-- Quality, taste, and being on-time. Theres literally nothing more they could do to make their food better. Just about everything could be described as Basically just like a typical Pizza dish but portioned correctly, with top quality ingredients, and the right ratios between each ingredient.For instance, you order a salad at your typical pizza spot and theres an entire tomato cut into quarters sitting on top of a bed of wilted, oxidized lettuce pink where leaves have been cut. Not Mikes. All of their salads look and taste like theyre made to order and they actually taste their own dishes. Its the type of place you could eat at once or twice a week and not get board or sick of.OH, DID I MENTION THAT THEIR WINE SELECTION IS REDICCCCC?

Wednesday evening, dropped in, ordered at the counter after browsing their online menu. Pepperoni and sausage. Done in about 10 minutes, took it to go.Outstanding pizza. The crust is a work of art: flavor like sourdough bread, chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside with little charred bits that contrast tasty hints of bitterness against the sourdough profile. High quality cheese and toppings. Its obvious they love what they do.There are only a couple of tables inside, plus a couple of tiny tables outside. Its really meant as a place to pick up and take your pie to go. Hopefully, eventually, they can find their way to a location with a few more tables because that pizza deserves to be enjoyed right away.You gotta try this place!

I lived in the east coast (CT) and this place very much reminds me of those yummy pizza joints. Its amazing, the bread, the sauce, and the taste! Top tier!! Definitely need to try this place if youre in SLO. Friendly staff. The place smells so good too! I had the Dalmatian Chard and Potato pizza :)

Finally found great vegan pizza in SLO County! The vegan cheese pizza reminds me of the thin-crust pizza sold by the slice on the boardwalk in Venice Beach - yummy! Well be back to try the Mary Nera pizza which is naturally vegan (no substitutions needed). Staff is friendly and helpful.

A true haute pizza experience with nuanced flavors and personal touches that are reminiscent of a Netflix culinary special. Mike is personable and takes time to creatively intermingle unique local ingredients as he does with his local and dedicated customers. One pizza is plenty for 3 people.

My husband eats a lot of pizza. Me, not so much and I usually eat a salad when we go to a pizza place. But Mikes got great reviews, so we went and I ordered the Shroomies. Best. Meal. Not just best pizza, but the most wonderfully flavored meal. Wow..the shrooms, garlic, crust...all amazing. And my husband loved his margarita pizza. Cooked crispy. High quality ingredients. Mike made a custom all vegan pizza without any vegan cheese. Surprisingly, it was even better without the cheese on it. Incredibly flavorful. Please add this vegan pizza to the menu. It was spectacular and one of the most satisfying pizzas I’ve ever had.

Ever since I moved to SLO over a year ago, Ive been searching for a good pizza place to serve my cravings. This place... This place is by far the best pizza in SLO. Not only that, but a contender for the best pizza on the central coast. I got the Pepperonis & Peppas pizza and everything about it was exactly what I want in a pizza. Good ingredients and bold flavors galore.The workers and owner were all friendly and the whole vibe of the place was fantastic. Will 100% be coming back here whenever I need a good pizza for my cravings.

If you’re looking for fast, fresh, quality pizza in SLO, this is the place! Mike’s sourdough crust is the highlight of the pizza, in my opinion. Don’t come here looking for pizza loaded with tons of toppings and cheese a la Fatte’s, Woodstock’s or any other fast food pizza place. DO come for the amazing crust and super high quality ingredients! And Mike is a super friendly local who really cares about his pizza and the people who eat it😊.

Could not get much better! Never have I seen such meticulously prepared pizza - the owner stretches each dough, another person carefully places each topping, another does not take his eyes off each pizza in the oven, finally another finishes them with any garnishes. They have it down to a well oiled process where they dont sacrifice quality or speed to just turn out more pizzas. They only take a few orders at a time, you can customize them, and I suggest ordering hours in advance for a set time to either dine in or take out. We ordered too much (1 pizza per 2 adults is about right) but somehow the leftover pizza was just as good the next day when reheated properly. Highly recommend!For the one bad review, I was there - the owner was not rude, they were trying to sneak in their order on a packed sold out schedule, it was not burnt, and 2 stars for not having home made ranch?

The most beautiful tasting pizza I have ever had. Me and my volleyball team came here after a win and we devoured the entire place. The place is a perfect atmosphere for college kids and highschool students. A very chill place and the customer service is on point! 5 stars, even more if I could.

Had an opportunity to try MFMs and cant wait for it to be available full-time. The ingredients and dough are out of this world. The sauce had a hint of sweetness, which mixed with the salty cheese just perfectly. Absolutely get this spot on your radar.

Words fail to capture the sheer delight that the crust of last nights pizza brought me! As someone with gluten sensitivity who has steered clear of most breads for years, I was hesitant to indulge. However, Mike convinced me to try the special, a mouthwatering combination of spicy sausage with a fermented component atop a beautifully stretched-out sourdough crust- Mike himself did the stretch as good as any Italian chef. The memory of that pizza has consumed me for the past 24 hours; Ive raved about it to all my patients today and my assistant is probably tired of hearing about it. I even took it to my parents house to share, but they had already eaten dinner, leaving me to devour the entire pie - save for one lonely slice. And the best part? No gluten-bloat! The flavors and textures were nothing short of remarkable.Now, Im determined to persuade another friend to join me at Mikes tonight. I fear I may have stumbled upon a new addiction

We heard about this place from a wine maker in Los Alamos (Lo-Fi!) and I’m so glad we did. After moving from a large city, we have been so disappointed with the pizza options in the central coast but now we are thrilled to have found the BEST pizza! The fennel pizza (the O.F.O.S.) is the one of my dreams and I’m eating the leftovers as I type. We also got the Mary Nara and added burrata. This will be the only place we go for pizza from here on out. So happy to have found it!

Its the perfect marriage between crispy thin crust and chewy California style.Mike is amazing at adapting any pizza to be vegan (but I would always recommend asking for light cheese). I ordered a ricotta,garlic,spinach pizza that they have on the menu for pick up. I rode my bike an felt that it would be better to walk it home. I was a block or so away an I decided to take a peek of this pizza I had just purchased, I was stunned it looked amazing! Tried the Drunken Veg Pizza for the first time last night, what first comes to mind is wow! This is easily the best pizza in the county and I have tried pretty much all of them. Mike is great and his staff are highly attentive and respectful. This will be the first of many Pizzas to come, I can’t recommend Mike’s enough.

What a delicious pizza! You might be thinking ‘doesn’t SLO already have a lot pizza places?’ That may be true but My Friend Mike’s has now replaced previous favorites as the BEST in town. The crust is so flavorful (thanks, sourdough!) and a perfect texture. The sauce is clearly made from good quality, and all ingredients are clearly sourced with intention and attention to detail. We tried 3 pies (mushrooms & prosciutto, peppers & pepperoni, and sausage & caramelized onions) and all 3 were delicious. Easy to order ahead of time and pay online. Good prices for very delicious, gourmet pizza. VERY friendly staff inside who want to chat about pizza! Highly recommend My Friend Mike’s.

A one topping large pizza, I believe it’s called the “pep pep” and three (3) single serve coke bottles, came out to $60 and some change. I wouldn’t be so annoyed had it not been for the service. One of the gentlemen behind the counter (not the one taking my order) seemed rushed and was rude stating something along the lines of “they need to order now or they’re gonna be waiting a long time”. I’m only giving it an extra star and not a one star because the woman taking my order was polite and kind and seemed bashful about her co worker yelling about our order so that the whole restaurant could hear it. The pizza was worse than frozen pizza from Albertsons, DEFINITELY not worth the $60 of my hard earned money. The atmosphere was what you would expect for a “modern” hip pizza joint, uncomfortable chairs, weird colors, and the ability to serve ourselves by getting our own plates and napkins. We asked for complimentary ranch dressing and were denied because “we don’t have any right now”. Not only that, ranch would’ve been $3 EXTRA!! This place sure has a lot of nerve. My fiancé and I, and our daughter left disappointed, felt like we’d been robbed, and still hungry. The pizza not only didn’t taste all that great, it was burnt on top of that. Maybe I caught them at a bad time, or maybe this is how they generally are, if so, SLO you are getting taken advantage of. Hopefully they offer a full refund for this. This was absolutely ridiculous.

What a happy new place to have in town! We didn’t know one mostly needs to order before arriving, and at first they very earnestly apologized about not being able to make us a pizza for about an hour. Then, the cook jumps in and says he can fit us in if we order right then. So we did. And we’re very very pleased with the result.

My new favorite pizza in town! Just picked up my first two pies from these guys. Friendly, down to earth, the kind of guys youd want to have a beer with. Or better yet, a pizza. Their pizza! The crust and sauce are where its at here; super tasty, fresh, excellent texture. I had both the Shroomi and the Cheese (extra cheese add shrooms for me). Awesome. Tomato sauce is fresh and tangy. Crust is light, crisp and chewy. Cheese tastes high quality, which is often hard to find. These guys are gonna take off, so get in before theres a line out the door. I eat pizza once a week usually. This may be ill-advised, but its true. Ill be getting it here from now on.

My buddy just moved to SLO and he told me about My Friend Mikes. When I came to visit we ordered a stack of pies to watch the Warriors game with the family. We are a couple of New York pizza snobs, and Mike delivered the goods. Delicious naturally fermented dough, quality ingredients on top. You wont find better pizza in the central coast, possibly the entire state of California. I am looking forward to visiting soon so I can crush another pie.

Attention Little Italy Neighbs!We just ate the Shroomies and the Grandma’s Pepperoni Square pizzas. OMG!Grandma’s pizza is so light and super flavorful!The texture is an amazing match to the super savory pepperoni.The Shroomies is ridiculously delicious. I just don’t have words for the variety of earthy flavor from the local shrooms and super rich flavor from the local pancetta. This is my new favorite treat.4 adults and a tween eating and we still have leftovers.
