The food here is delicious and the service is great. Its also a very nice, cozy atmosphere. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. My sis and I had the Blackened Fish Sandwich and Crispy Chicken Sandwich, cut in half and then each of us had a half. And we both ordered the salad for the side. And we ordered a butter cake to share for dessert. I also had a strawberry lemonade. Everything was great.

Lovely restaurant. Service was good, efficient. Food was good. The Bistro plate was excellent as were the asparagus fries. The deviled eggs, tho an interesting choice (usually love them!), were odd. Fried and not very good, really. I do recommend this restaurant. The covered outdoor patio is quite nice! Public metered parking lot across the street.

This was my first time eating at this establishment. I will say it was Wonderful. From the host to our waiter. I loved it so much it’ll be in my top 10. We tried a little bit of everything. I never had to ask for my water to be refilled. I will be Celebrating my Birthday at Nick’s. Everything was first class/top tier. I’m am so grateful that I attended my nieces birthday dinner. Thanks Nick’s for a wonderful dinner. You guy’s Rock!!!! 💜

I went to Nicks for our anniversary lunch as per friends rec and we enjoyed it. Im not sure what regular walk-in on a weekend would be like, but had a reservation for a weekday lunch and was promptly seated at the ocean view seat that can see a glimpse of the ocean from far away, haha. A bit silly but oceanview nonetheless.We ordered two dishes - baby back ribs and the fish sandwich. Im not much of a seafood person but I actually enjoyed the sandwich quite a bit! Moist, crispy batter, and thick. I almost thought I was eating a crispy chicken sandwich. For the ribs, wow its big. Itll definitely fill you up. I waited too long to eat it and it got cold but Im sure it wouldve been tastier when warm. Then we got the butter cake with ice cream on it, and it was pretty good too. Food wise, I think Id get the fish sandwich again!Our waiter was nice and available for water. When I went into the restroom though, the music was so loud that I felt like I was at a bar. I didnt stay for long so it was fine but I noticed that inside of the restaurant was significantly louder than outside. Probably from people speaking louder to converse through the music. Overall, Im glad we sat outside and the food was good. Beach is just a few blocks away, too.

This was a very good place for dinner while we were in town. We stopped in here while we were in on business and it was a great find near where we were staying in El Segundo. I had their baby back ribs which were very tasty. I honestly did not expect the ribs to be great because I wouldn’t expect good BBQ meat in California but these were very tasty. I paired it with their fries which were nice and tasty. The highlight of the evening though was Nick’s Classic Margarita. It was one of the best margaritas I’ve had. The staff here was very friendly and accommodating as well. I would definitely come back when in town again.

They have a 😋Delicious Veggie Burger. 😋The Blackened Fish Sandwich was Amazing as was the Prime Rib Dip Sandwich 😋.The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was Very Tasty 😋. The Cioppino was a Hit . Lets not forget The Warm Butter Cake so Delicious 😋 and The Towering Lemon Cake was Perfect 😋.The Service was Great.👍But what a Surprise we got as we left Nicks.A Greek Bouzouki Player and Singer Named Nondas Performing outside The Restaurant. I live in the neighborhood and have been to Nick’s numerous times. Overall I am happy with the restaurant and its menu selections. Appetizers price on the high side (it is after all MB). I was here twice this week for dinner and experienced the similar service level that’s why I gave a lower score on the service due to the following:1. Finished plates not taken away timely2. Ordered a bottle of wine but server never came by to refill our glasses3. Had to flag someone down to refill water

First time at Nicks and had been wanting to try them for awhile. Came here for a business lunch and the hostess was friendly. The initial server seemed a little grumpy. The serving server was much friendlier so were figuring maybe she was covering while he was on break?The food itself was very good and presentation was very nice. Seating was comfortable and everyone had a good time. Id come back again to try some of their other dishes.

I’ll admit, this review is a bit biased. This is my favorite restaurant in the Southbay and there are a few reasons why.For starters, the service at Nick’s is always great! It’s hard to find a more consistent restaurant when it comes to overall quality of service. It’s something that really goes unnoticed for most. However, for me, it’ll determine if I return to a restaurant or not.Food wise, you can’t really go wrong with anything here. Ask your waiter for recommendations if you are unfamiliar and they will always steer you in the right direction. Whatever you go with, just make sure to save room for dessert! The butter cake is an absolute must have! I promise, you will not be disappointed.Drinks are always very well made. You’d be surprised how hard it is to find well crafted cocktails and Nick’s does not disappoint in this area.I hope that this review encourages you to check it out for yourself!

We ordered two entrées and one appetizer. When the bill came, it seemed brother high so we took a deeper look and found that our Server had charged us for four meals. Basically two meals for my wife and two meals for myself. A couple more cocktails and I might not have picked it up. Not quite sure if it was intentional, but hard to see how someone could accidentally do this. Please double check your bill when it comes to your table.

Awesome place great food and service first class service. Revisit food not as good as last time but still above normal. Had the asparagus fries the batter did not stick to the asparagus. Had the french dip was good butter cake still the best in town.

My wife wanted to come here after walking about Manhattan Beach. I parked at the parking structure behind the restrauant that has a metered parking garage. The first 3 levels are maxed at 2 hours and the top level is maxed at 10 hours. We came around right when they open and they were already busy at their outdoor dining area. We first got seated inside next to the bar but my wife asked for a table outside and they were able to sit us there. I went their classic chessburger with fries and my wife got their salmon. She loved her salmon dish, she been here before but it was my first time. My burger was alright, it wasnt the best burger or the worst in my opinion. The service we received was great, our waiter was attentive to our table.My score:Food: 4.5 star, my wife loved her Salmon dish. I thought the burger was alright.Service: 5 star, the service we received was good. I have no complaints and had a good time eating our lunch there.Parking: 5 star, you basically pay for parking everywhere in Manhattan Beach so this garage behind the restrauant was convenient. It was easy to get in and also get out.Atmosphere: 5 star, the outdoor dining experience is great here. Just be aware of your food because birds come into the dining area.

Took the husband here for lunch for his birthday. Super cute restaurant. Our waitress was outstanding and the food and drinks were just as great as the waitress.Well definitely be back! The parking was a bit difficult BUT theres multiple garages to park in. Just make sure you give yourself time to park if youve made reservations.

This is a nice restaurant near the beach in Los Angeles. It is located in a good zone near the beach. I had dinner on a Monday so it wasnt very crowded. We were almost the only people in the site which didnt make a good atmosphere.The service is good but nothing exceptional. The same thing happens with the quality of the food. Its good but nothing special. The portions are huge as always and there was almost no options if you dont like spicy food.The prices however are very high for the food. The drinks specially. I wouldnt recommend going there for a casual dinner.One point I didnt like is that when we were finishing eating the employees were already cleaning and trying to get us to leave.

The food is great and the service is most times exemplary. I love the atmosphere and the location. Although some meals aren’t consistent every time you order them, it still receives 5-stars because you could recommend Nick’s to anyone and they’re bound to enjoy it. My personal recommendations to start the meal off right: the bread (which used to be free), the fried deviled eggs, the charcuterie board, & almost any drink.

There was a power outage after I ordered today, and the chefs actually were able to complete my order. I was so thankful because I was starved ... they lit candles and stayed while I took my time to finish my meal. It was pouring down rain, and just overall a memorable and delicious experience.

I am a habitual reviewer, having written hundreds of reviews. Unfortunately, some of them were not fun to write. This one, however, is one that I will truly enjoy writing.On Tuesday November 7, 2023 at around 4:30 pm my wife and I stopped by Nick’s for an early dinner. We are East coasters who just happened to be in the area with no prior knowledge of dining options. What a delight our visit to Nick’s turned out to be! We were greeted by a very friendly host who immediately seated us in the outdoor corner where we asked to be. Soon after we were seated, our waiter, Steve, stopped by to welcome us and take our drink order. We asked for a couple of carafes of wine, and he brought our glasses by. A few minutes later, he assured us that our wine was coming as the bar was quite busy. Our wine arrived shortly, and we proceeded to place our dinner orders. My wife ordered the petite steak special with extra salad in place of the soup. I ordered the salmon entrée. Our orders arrived before we had finished our first glass of wine, at which point Steve noticed my wife donning her sweater and immediately proceeded to see that the wind shades were lowered which assured our dining comfort. My wife’s steak was done to her desired medium-well, my salmon could not have been more perfectly done, moist and tender in the middle. My wife raved about the accompanying heaping mound of chopped salad. My mashed potatoes were perfectly done and the generous portion of sauteed spinach with garlic and lemon sauce was simply outstanding. The food presentation was amazing too – it looked delicious and tasted even better! Throughout our meal Steve was present without being intrusive and he surprised us with hot towels at the end. My wife asked for dessert and Steve recommended sweet bread with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Here I must apologize to my wife for while I am not a desert person, this one was so delicious that I ate more of her generous serving than she did. Overall, we could not have been more pleased with the service and food of Nick’s Manhattan Beach, a truly memorable experience! Thank you Nicks!Carmen Perfetto

Ive been to Nicks on 4 occasions & each visit has been a superb experience. The ambience is very nice and modernistic with great music mostly smooth, latin Jazz, pretty awesome, as my father is a Musician and if he likes the music so much that hes Shazzaming all the tracks id say its good music lol. The portions served at Nicks are the biggest ive seen compared to most restaurants and eateries in the Manhattan beach pier area, I tried the thai salad which is the best thai sald ive had its very well served, the noodles are delicious as well as the level of spiciness. My brother had the shrimp taquitos which was super bomb, the fried chicken was excellent, it was 2 huge bonless pieces the gravy and mash was super good, as well as thier fried chicken sandwich. The kale chicken salad was so huge we had to share it, but everything was excellent with zero complaints. The waiter offered me a special house tequila specifically for Nicks which i declined but he was very happy to let me know they offered Casamigos anejo for my skinny margarita. Let me say they have great wine selection as well. The margarita was very well done with a fresh agave house mix. Me and my family will be returning! :)

Everywhere we go in Southern California, we always make a point to stop by one of the Nick’s restaurants to dine. We just had a great lunch at South of Nick’s in San Clemente last week and today we went to Nick’s in Manhattan Beach for lunch.This location has Great foods and it’s in an awesome location. I love their sourdough loaf with Garlic. Crunch skin with soft bead inside. Fried asparagus is a must order. The batter is tasty and crispy. For the main dishes, I ordered the San Francisco cioppino while my wife had the rack of baby back ribs. The Cioppino was full of fish meats, scampi mussels and clams. The soup goes along with it was fantastic. The baby back rib was huge. My wife had half left over to take home.This location is great as it’s just a short walk to Manhattan pier. Great day out to take a walk after lunch.

Celebrated one of our employees 3 year anniversary here (we’re owners of a small business)They took us in even though we were 20 minutes early to our reservation. The staff did a great job acknowledging the special occasion and making us feel welcomed by understanding it was our first time here.The menu was pretty straightforward. Our server did a great job, recommending us in the right direction and making sure we had what we wanted by asking us what we normally like to eat/ drink. The water cups were a bit on the small side and unfortunately, it was a warm summer night which meant we drank our water fairly quickly, but the service was a bit slow to replenish our water.Our appetizers came out almost immediately, and were delicious. We ordered the deviled eggs, the sourdough loaf of bread and the asparagus fries. The asparagus fries were a bit on the small side to share and the deviled eggs only came in for. Our main entrées, however did seem to take a bit longer to make and we weren’t really checked up on in between appetizers and entrées. (Which is where we ran out of water quickly)When our entrées finally arrived one of them was wrong but our server was too busy managing other tables to check back with us. Fortunately, a manager/supervisor was walking around asking if everything was to our liking - which we were able to point out that one of our entrées was wrong and they quickly fixed the problem.I would highly recommend to order the bistro plate if you like small bites and variety since it comes with a salad, a 4 ounce steak and the soup of the day. The sourdough bread also goes great with t soup.Overall, had a great experience, and would want to come back soon!

Its my 3rd time at Nicks whenever I stopover in Manhattan Beach LA. Service is top notch here, and last evening I had their filet steak done nicely, flavorful and tender to the last bite. The merlot was a great pair as well. My host have the BBQ ribs which was succulent and tasty according to them. Glad my first full meal in LA was at Nicks after 3 years.

Nicole and I took a friend for her birthday yesterday. We did not have a reservation, but were immediately seated - nice! The table, next to the service door, was not so nice, but then, as I said, we did not have a reservation.The service was very charming - I just wished he hadnt been one of the guys who is more important than us. Whenever he thought he something to say, he never waited until his guests were speaking but sort of jumped merciless into the conversation multiple times. I think these people could just let the person speaking at least finish his or her sentence - if not even wait until we address him - after all, we see him standing there and would not ignore him.The food was really good. My wife had the salmon with mash, our guest a salad and I had the ribs - really, all worth recommending. Would I go again? Absolutely, even though it would be always tough, as we happened to like Darrens round the corner a tad better (see service.Would I make a 30+ min detour to go (if it was not to meet dear friends from the area)? Now, if you are curious enough about my rating scheme, heres the moment of truth. I am a music photographer who travels the world with the worlds greatest musical talents (Michael Jackson, AC/DC, Rolling Stones or Rammstein, to name a few) for almost 40 years. When being asked where do you live I tended to ask in hotels. At my peak, I shot 250 shows a year. Will say: been there, saw and tasted it, and a lot, as I may say and much to the dismay of my doctor who is in my back to lose a few pounds. Quite a few, as I may add, which is why my wife and I walk ten thousand steps per day, where- and whenever we can - and explore a lot of new exciting places - places you may oversee when just driving by.While I love to share my experience with others, I am sometimes shocked how people use their power of word to down-rate amazing places because of minor incidents (in my all time favorite restaurant Le Petit Four on Sunset Plaza the owner was even called a racist as he refused to toast the (free) bread in his packed restaurant - they simply do not offer toasted bread, as no French place does, as I may add). Or I just read Chicken piccata so over-salted I hope the dog enjoys the leftovers tomorrow, I brought home most of the dish. Did they speak to their service? How could the restaurant learn that something was wrong when patrons even have their leftovers boxed to take home? As a dog owner, I want to take the writer and shake him or her really bad and say you give over-salted food to your dog? Anyone with a bit of brain understands this is a horrible idea... I hope you agree.So If I had the say on this portal, I would offer just to see ratings of my friends. So I would see what the ratings were by like-minded people. Sadly, I have no say. I try not to compare apples with oranges. A place like this simply does not compare to The Ritz. At first, I assume that a restaurant is clean, they do not greet you with a gun - and they deliver whatever they promise. I do not give stars for things that are expected. In my rating scheme, three or more stars are awarded if they actually exceeded my expectation. Four, if I am sure I will come back. To achieve five stars, I must be willing to take a detour of thirty minutes or more to go again.Again, thank you for reading all this.

Lack luster dining experience. Spent the evening with my family who had all traveled from different parts of the country to celebrate my brothers graduation. Ive worked in fine dining for 10+ years, i suppose here the cost is a reflection of the location not the quality of the food/experience. To start, they brought water to 3 out of the 4 of us. Had to ask for multiple items repeated times. Clam chowder was bland with undercooked vegetables so we sent it back and waiter said he would take it off. We had the sea bass, halibut special, ribeye and seafood stew. All dishes had very bland plating. Ribeye had a horrible marinade that tasted like some sort of pf chang Korean beef. Bartenders were awful. They took forever and when they finally came around they were rude. There was a staff member cleaning something behind the bar. He was wearing all black uniform. I had three servers in one hour seemingly because I came during shift change. Most times a server will introduce the person who will be covering for them during their break or shift change. I had to get up from the table to order a second drink. Ten minutes later, I see my first server servicing the three tables to my right, diligently. I spoke with manager on duty who apologized and who bought one of my drinks. Even the silverware rolls were stacked in a pretty cross formation near the entrance, turning something functional also into beauty.My omelette was beautiful, and I love the avocado of course. The bacon was perfectly cooked. The fruit was delicious. My bread was crispier than I would like but was fine after letting the butter soak in a bit.The pancakes are so soft they basically melt in your mouth.The water is refilled without even having to glance at it.The check was brought smoothly, in fact every interaction was smooth. Height of etiquette.Our server asked us not “are you done” but “Have you finished enjoying this plate?”And instead of “is that all?” We received “May I get you ladies anything else to savor?”They were all also impeccably presentable and everything was just very very impressive. I am so happy with my experience.

I am now on the hunt for some cioppino near by that can hold me over until I return to Nicks.My wife thought her seabass was undercooked, but the waiter assured us it was properly cooked. A good restaurant for a casual night out for dinner. The seating arrangement is a bit to close to other tables for an intimate night out especially when you factor in the number of young children present. I wouldnt recommend the asparagus fries due to the amount of chewy stalk that was left on each spear. The sea bass was good but nothing special. The fried chicken was surprisingly delicious. The highlight of the meal was most definitely the butter cake dessert. It was absolutely amazing. Great service throughout the meal.

Excellent food! My good friend took me here for my birthday and boy, Im grateful that he did. We ordered Filet Mignon, it comes with bistro salad and chicken tortilla soup. The steak is melt in your mouth scrumptious, the soup was good but the bistro salad was mouth-watering delicious. I can have just the salad alone and Ill be more than satisfied. We had butter cake with crystalized sugar that made it kind of crunchy. I have had many butter cake but this one takes the cake! Ive been coming to this location since they opened, and not only has the food always been excellent, but the service is always fantastic.Everyone who works here, from the managers and hostesses to every individual waiter, are *incredibly* nice. Though the menu is a tad restricted (MAY 2022 EDIT: the old quarterly changes seem to have stopped since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020), I cant recommend the place highly enough. The buttermilk fried chicken and the California salad are particular highlights.Parking in Metlox and wait times for small parties are acceptable during the cooler weather, but *hoo-boy,* prepare to be unpleasantly surprised during the height of summer.My one minor gripe? Since they resumed normal take-out procedures following the pandemic closures and an extended period of weird self-imposed restrictions (e.g. systematically refusing to offer take-out from Thursday through Sunday, inclusive), theyve been a bit inconsistent with their estimates. The same orders were quoted as 25 minutes one day and 45 another, and they typically take longer than they quote besides. This makes it somewhat challenging to plan, but is not a significant knock; just something to be aware of if youre planning on ordering to-go.

We sat at a 2 person booth in the bar area, and the whole experience was kind of like an upscale sports bar. I thought the tuna tartare appetizer was very good, but the fried chicken was unimpressive and not very flavorful. My companion thought her salad was pretty run of the miss. I have not been to many places in Manhattan Beach, but Manhattan Beach Post is miles ahead of this place for fairly equivalent prices.

I have been in Nicks Pasadena, and decided to try out their Manhattan location. To begin with their service is outstanding, reflecting the upscale location and the old-fashioned traditions. My ciopino was great overall, but wish they would add more seafood (clams, mussels, lobster?) and less fish. We were seated outside, and it was a little bit chilly, but as I said I loved the place in general!

So so soooo good! I went for my sisters birthday and today and everything about it was amazing. I got the Chilean sea bass, my sister and grandmother got the buttermilk fried chicken, my mother got the bistro plate, and my son ate the grilled cheese. Last night of a 3 week trip to the west coast. Amazing last meal. Greeted with some top notch cocktails (try the watermelon and jalapeño margaritas!) and shown to our table in a very cool bar setting. We had the asparagus fritters to start which were as good as they sound, and the tuna tartare which wouldn’t have been out of place in a high end sushi restaurant. For mains we had the cheese burger which was the best we had tried during our entire trip and the cioppino, which was full to the brim with giant shrimp, mussels, clams, and sea bass. Just when we were remarking about how stuffed we were when a complimentary dessert arrived. It was delicious so we forgot how full we were.Really special evening all round. Thanks for having us.

Nicks is good but not great. Some of the sass they added to the menu just didnt live up to the hype for me. Example? The fancy bloody mary with a deep fried olive on top sounded amazing in theory but in execution - NOT good at all. So gross actually, which is weird because I love olives and always ask for extra. Everything else was decent but the service was extraordinarily slow. Overall, it was good but being that there are SO many amazing restaurants in MB, its not my favorite.
