This is the best Nijiya Market store I have been to. Their meat, seafood, and deli sections are double the size of my local Nijiya Market. Lots more items here than other places. The meat and seafood had lots of options and high quality. Would recommend coming to this Flagship store for all your Japanese food products. Better than the local Tokyo Central.

Large clean and great pricing on sushi. Especially the sashimi kaisen chirashi: 3 pieces of sweet shrimp, 2 pieces of tuna, 2 pieces of octopus, 1 whole scallop cut into 2, 1 squid, 1 yellowtail, ikura (salmon eggs), a shisho leaf, and sushi rice underneath all for $11.99. Delicious place to have lunch. I love a supermarket that also has a kitchen for fresh hot foods! When they have sales, the discounted items are a great deal. All the employees are very courteous and the store is very well kept.The price of the groceries reflect the city’s demographics….Today I had the #20 Tonkatsu Ramen along with their Curry Croquette. They use flour noodles which taste great and fresh (I’m picky and these noodles were quality)! Not only that but they also had a flavored egg, tasty n crunchy bamboo shoots, very umami packed and thick seaweed, and wonderfully charred chatsu pork.Their soup has the right level of saltiness and sweetness… honestly better than those ramen places in downtown! I had a very happy lunch :)The prices are great but you may want to choose add ons or a second portion if youre big like me. I was highly satisfied!

High quality fresh organic makes Nijiya Market the Whole Foods of the Japanese markets. Large verities of sushi and fresh prepared meals to take along with you or if you can’t wait just warm up using the on site microwave, have a seat either inside or outside and eat away. Also do the same ordering off the menu, nothing fancy, noodle and rice dishes that are made with fresh ingredients that you can taste and best of all priced right.

I shop at their other store on Sawtelle in West Los Angeles frequently, but this store is amazing! Its about three times the size. I get a lot of stuff here, from organic tofu from their own farm, different kinds of fresh fish that are delicious, sushi rolls, and all my Asian ingredients. They have their own eggs with golden yolks that are delicious. When its not the peak of growing season for local produce, their produce is excellent also. Nice people, places to sit, and they also have cooked food. If I lived closer to this store Id be here at least twice a week. I cant recommend this place highly enough.

It is 1.5 times more expensive than Tokyo Central within 3 minutes by car.There seem to be many kinds of lunch boxes, but the overlap of side dishes is repeated many times, and bread and household toiletries are too expensive.The atmosphere seems to have come to Japan.

This place opens later than the other Japanese supermarket. They have a collaboration with Cream Pan which delivers the yummy strawberry croissant and other desserts and 🍞 on Mon, Wed and Sat without much of a markup compared to the regular Cream pan all the way in Tustin. But their average prices on groceries is higher than Marukai. This when they had a good fair.

YOU SIMPLY CANNOT FIND A BETTER JAPANESE/ASIAN GROCERY STORE THAN NIJIYA TORRANCE (old town? 182nd or 162nd street). Always clean and well stocked with great merch. And the quality of their prepared food is miles and miles above the rest. Bottom line: this NIJIYA market (if I have the right one - there are TWO in this neighborhood) is absolutely the best. And great place to have picnic. Tables clean. Ocean breeze always blowing - fairly hard actually

Nijiya is my favorite place to get all things Japanese. Whether its seasonings, drinks, ingredients, rice, premade meals, etc. All Nijiya locations are great, but the Torrance location in particular has the best selection of premade foods in my opinion. Everything is reasonably priced and I highly recommend.

Ive been shopping at their Sawtelle store in West LA for several years, but this location is about three times the size. They have a large produce department with some items from their own farms. Lots of their own eggs, large seafood department and large sushi department. Plus a restaurant with a lot of takeout items. Its truly a great store.

Love this store as it carries most Japanese ingredients for home cooks. They also have a prepared food section, bakery section, and eating area. Prices are a bit higher than other Asian markets, but the freshness of products are worth it. Will continue to return & recommend it to others.

I frequent this nijiya and the one in Santa Monica. The only other one I’ve been to is the one in little Tokyo, and this one takes the cake by far. Nice, big parking lot, very friendly staff, and the sushi here is sooooo good. Their spicy tuna roll tastes like it was made in a legit sushi restaurant.

Really adore this place! This brings me back to the little Japanese Markets I grew up with back home. You can get fresh meats and produce. Beverages and dry staples from rice to spices. Not to mention the bakery and deli where you can pick up a bento box lunch to fresh bread and pastries! An absolute gem!!!

I Lived near this market for many years, and now that I moved, I miss going here. I only buy my salmon fish from this place because I can be assured that is fresh . Though it is pricey. I drive now all the way here just for that.Place is clean, and workers seemed nice and helpful, they are always doing something. Been a customer for 12 years and love it. This particular location is better and different than the one on Little Tokyo (love that spot too) because of the Cafeteria they have where they have a special menu to order from with the newspapers / advertisements on the side. They have shopping carts & small carts of your choice. I used to always shop for the Sapporo Ichiban noodles (🐔,spicy 🐔, & the creamy one), Ramune sodas, Mocha Ice Creams, you name it. They have a bakery section as well with cakes for special occasions (or just because lol). Its better to register for a membership card to get products on sale. The employees are very helpful as well. Definitely recommend for any consumers of Japanese culture

Nijiya is an outstanding japanese neighborhood market. Their selection of meats is small but impressive. The selection of fish is outstanding. There is a good variety of Asian vegetables with some organics. They have a wide variety of prepared Asian sushi and sashimi. There is also a small but good internal restaurant with a nice selection of Asian noodle dishes. Nikita is slightly expensive but the quality is worth pricing. This market is primarily for those with an interest in Asian foods.

If I dont have time to cook dinner this is my favorite place to get warm dinner and desert. I really like Japanese food and at at this store I can find almost everything. But the most important is customer service: they always ready to help! They not just friendly and nice you can feel the family atmosphere and it makes me want to be there every day (if I can). Also I like that they extended store hours from 9pm to 10pm.

This place is a hidden gem! Its a smaller neighborhood market that actually carries a lot of products! Id recommend getting their ready to eat meals/food. They are fresh and delicious. Traditional neighborhood Japanese Market. Lunch time is the best time to go here a lot of Bento Box items already prepared and ready to eat. Hot or cold really good quality and yummy. They have a produce area they keep it clean. Check out as fast and the cashiers are kind. Everyone here seems to be doing a good job. Just want something simple like a miso soup? I think its about $1.50? And you can put some extra toppings and Seasonings in it. They have a very small bakery area with some traditional Japanese offerings not a huge bake area but simple. There is an eating area and restrooms and they keep this area clean and organized.

Growing up in Northern California, Ive been lucky to have diverse offerings when shopping for groceries and quick bites. I am pleased to find there are several amazing options here too in Southern California. Nijiya is definitely one of the best Ive been to anywhere!The produce section is pricey, but everything else is reasonably priced. The sashimi is sushi grade, the ready made salads are amazing, and I love, love, love their cold Sake/Beer/Wine section! They even have a nice patio with bistro tables if you want to sit and enjoy the scenery while enjoying the days finds. Oh, and if you go after 7pm, youll get discounts on the prepacked and deli items.

The only drawback that I noticed from this market is that its a little small and sometimes theyre out of side dish items or bento boxes. This store contains a lot of items you would find at H Mart at a decent price. They also have more bento box types than a lot of other stores when they are in stock. The store is a go to must have if you enjoy Asian cuisine and like to find things that you may not find at other stores in the States.

I frequently visit to buy fresh produce or for their bakery goods. My family enjoys getting their simple strawberry cake.The last time I visited was last month. I went to buy a cake, and there was an elder Japanese woman working behind the bakery counter. She greeted me in Japanese which I wasnt too surprised by, but the manner in which she greeted me was something to note. She was emotionless in her voice without making eye contact the whole transaction. When I paid for the cake, she handed me back my credit card which I proceeded to place inside of my wallet. During that time she also tried handing me the receipt, but my hands were still preoccupied. She just tossed the receipt toward me and then went about her business. I figured she must have had a long day with the whole pandemic happening now, so hopefully shes feeling better these days.

This place is a hit or miss with product availability and even in quality. I have bought stuff from the freezer section not really checking expiration date that were already expired. The fast hot foods bar is an awesome idea but sometimes, stuff just sits in there and it does not take great (again it depends on how lucky you are with the freshness).

I like that there are tables here to eat your ready made food items. You can heat up leftovers or make some top ramen with the hot water. What I did was buy dozens of oysters from a place a few doors down. I shucked the hell out of these oysters. Rice in prepared food is great but seriouly they need to change the rice at the counter. Super distasteful. Came here for the first time today to pick up some sashimi for Mother’s Day lunch at home. There is a large selection of hot and cold pre-made foods to choose from. I got a mixed sashimi pack with salmon, tuna, hamachi, and octopus for $15. It came with wasabi but no soy sauce. Also got grilled mackerel for $2.99 and some pickled vegetables for $2.99. The sashimi is really fresh. The grilled mackerel was meaty. The pickled veggies were way too salty. I wanted to get dango but unfortunately didn’t see any.

Nijiya is an over-priced market that caters to the Japanese food culture. One whole chicken uncooked sells for $17+. I can go to any big chain grocery store and buy a whole chicken thats cooked for about a third of their price. I do not recommend this store. They do have a large selection of fish you wont find at most stores.

I bought chicken karaage...it was soooooo oily that the oil sat at the bottom of the container and the oil tasted like they just skimmed it and didnt change it for some time before frying. Eeeyuck. I bought a small tray of california roll that looked great because the avocado looked fresh, but it tasted weird because the imitation crab wasnt prepared right or something. Nothing like the food used to be. Cheaper chef?

Smaller, but good market with a big pre-prepared foods section and deli / restaurant.The parking can be hectic during busy times (like lunch) but if you come early or late, its usually fine. It can be very cold inside (especially when the suns not out) so bringing a jacket is probably a good idea.As a smaller market, it has just the essentials, but its more than good enough if all you want is food or cooking ingredients. Theres kind of a deli with a steam tray filled with a lot of fried foods, then a cold section after it with cooler foods on ice. Today I ordered it from the restaurant as part of a set meal, and everything but the karaage tasted great. The karaage itself tasted like something was stale or bad. Either the oil, the breading, the chicken or maybe something else, but it tasted off and I had to force myself to finish it a little.I also feel like the pre-wrapped onigiri in those little plastic containers are worse than the cheaper ones that have the seaweed packaged separately despite being more expensive. I tend to avoid them now. The tempura shrimp onigiri at the Deli though is AMAZING however, and is one of the best Ive tasted period.One final note is that a lot of the pre-prepared food (if not most) features Akita Komachi rice, which is a kind of regional speciality rice that this Nijiya at least seems to feature in its products. If you want to try it, this is a good place to find it pre-cooked.

In a hurry? Probably the best bentos around town if you dont have time. Enter and go directly to the left side of the aisle. Lots to choose from, from sushi to sashimi, to every sort of cooked food imaginable including some really good sandwiches.Prices are a bit high, but not as expensive as say a restaurant. You are paying for the quality here, not the quantity.If you are in a psudo rush, go to the food court area, also on the left side. The menu board can be confusing but I promise you it gets easier as you frequent this place more and more. There side condiments behind the register including all the sauces and dry toppings like scallions/fried dough for your hot ramen.I do love coming here for the 50% breads. Usually if its on the day of, they will knock off 20% and the day after it goes down to 50%. The bread is the french influence type so its crisp, light, and buttery. Just the way I like it.The veggies and fruits here are Takaisugi (expensive) so I pass on it. Also skip on the shelf foods unless you just need one or two and dont want to withstand the crowds like Marukai.Sometimes if you look carefully, youll find some Kama for a good price ~$2. I use it for stock or sometimes just broiled and add some zuri daikon and lemon for good eats. Theres a lot of fish selection but yes it does get really confusing for people like me who usually just buys salmon/tuna.There is a bathroom here, but its 1 person at a time by the TV. Its usually on the clean side.
