3.7?!?!?!?!?!??! Are you kidding me? This place rocks!!!! Noodles are chewy, perfectly cooked, and the broth is perfect!!! My boys favorite place!!! He generally only eats the noodles but he drinks the soup here! Son approved. Git it!!!!

Nice place for dumplings and knife-cut noodles soup. Noodle portion is generous, price is reasonable and the noddles are made fresh. I think the noodle soup bowl could use a little more salt and meat. You can see workers from the window at the entrance making fresh noodles. Plenty of parking available; especially the parking lot on northeast corner of Garfield and Garvey. Service is fast. Lots of cold dish appetizers available.

I love the food here!!From the moment I got seated, the waitress brought me out water. I really appreciated that.I also asked if I could move to the back cause there was a cold draft in front and she helped me carry the menu, waters, etc.I ordered the chive pancake, all beef noodle soup, and pork & leek fried dumplings. All were delicious!!! The chive pancake was my favorite!They have TVs in here to keep you entertained if your family doesn’t talk. They stay open until midnight!Prices are pretty average/reasonable. I love how fresh & delicious everything tastes!!!

Food selection is good and the portion sizes are great. I driving in this area and was hungry so I stopped in to get a bite and Im glad I did.Seating was easy and quick. I was able to order a few dishes from the menu but I think I ordered too much but the food is excellent.The taste of each dish was perfect, the balance of all blended ingredients was spot on. I almost didn’t go in after seeing the review, but im so glad I did!! I ordered sour&spicy noodles with pork intestine. The soup tasted great, the intestine was fresh. Big portion with good price. Great service and nice decorations. Nothing to complain really! I didn’t try anything else so wouldn’t comment on that, but if you just want good soups and pork then don’t hesitate to visit.

Clean and modern with 4 large televisions. You are able to watch them hand make their noodles at the front of the restaurant or even while walking by. Service was a bit slow only having two servers who also have to work and mandate as cashier (hopefully they will hire more personnel?). A yelp review will get you a free coke (which I hope to redeem at my next visit). I really enjoyed the beef rolls. The other dishes werent bad, but Ive had better. Great place to stop by for a late night meal (just dont expect it to quickly arrive at the table).

Came here to try based off reviews and recommendations. The restaurant is extremely clean and bright inside, very loud and busy. The servers are extremely Chinese, meaning quick/will likely rush u/ be rude.I got the hot and sour premium beef noodle soup. It came out super quick, very aesthetically pretty. The portion size a bit small for around 15 bucks, the noodles weren’t as chewy as expected. They pride themselves with hand made noodles, but it tasted like regular factory made. The flavors of the soup was okay, the beef had good portions and was fatty/juicy~

Hand made noodles and tasty food served here! came here with some friends bc of word of mouth. tried the beef, hand pulled noodles and leek pancakes. both were better than expected. would order it again. we also tried the xiaox long boa which were good but not the best. my friends agreed. one friend is vegetarian and found a few things to eat too! the stinky tofu on a stick is an aquired taste, but I have it a shot and found it ok. I would avoid the drinks, since most are just bottled commercial versions. would have been better if they made it fresh like their noodles. try the restaurant!

Clean and cozy space with quite friendly and efficient service. Went there in search of authentic 蘭州拉麵. It was not too bad - the beef and tendons were tender but the noodles were not right, not was the flavor etc. - overall its just not what you find in Lanzhou :( Nevertheless, the cold dishes combo was very nice.

No one… and I mean no one speaks English in this place. Not the servers and not the customers so it’s a guarantee that the food will taste great. And it did taste great. Ordered two spicy dishes and neither were spicy at all, but very oily. Flavors were ok, nothing that really stood out. They had chili oil on the table but even that wasn’t very spicy, so no matter how much i added it didn’t give the kick was was hoping for but just added more oil. I did like the cut noodles though. Very chewy and held up to the sauce. Chicken was tasty but hard to eat. Seemed like every piece was from part of a chicken with complex bones. I didn’t seem to get a single leg or thigh with just the main bone to deal with. The spicy wontons were also tasty, just not spicy.I want to try this place again since their ox bone ramen sounded delish. Maybe the trick is to order the non spicy dishes?Service is a total bummer. We got seated right away and menus and water served right away, but they avoid conversation. Maybe a language thing? Can’t say a since they hardly said a word and had to flag them down and use sign language from a distance to get a box to go and check.

Very affordable and delicious noodle place.The noodles have a nice and bouncy texture and broth is meaty, savory bit not too heavy. They have various options for meats. Right when you walk in, you immediately see chefs hand making noodles inside the glass window so no doubt its made fresh!I also loved the pan fried dumplings with the crispy lace pattern. Definitely one of my favorite forms of dumplings as the crispy lattice adds a nice crunch to the dumplings.Service is quick and efficient. The place has a modern cafe look to it and is clean.Ill definitely come back here again!

When you first walk in, you are greeted by the noodle chef making hand pulled noodles. You state the number in your party and are directed at a numbered table. The service is efficient but the star is the quality of the noodle, the near perfect soup base, and fresh ingredients expertly crafted. Noodle and ramen lovers will not be disappointed eating here. One may experience the sheer joy of finding very good hand pulled noodles here in Los Angeles.

Nice casual place to eat. The food can take awhile to arrive. They need 1 more waiter when theyre busy, I feel bad. I love watching the kitchen staff pull the noodles! The food is quite good. You get more noodles than any ramen place Ive been to, Id rather choose this northern Chinese place for noodle soup. However, the soup broth isnt as rich. Despite that, the spicy beef noodle soup was good (but not spicy). The beef wraps are good too. Also check out their fried dumplings!I think the outdoor seating is for staff, but they technically have outdoor seating?

I’ve been to northern cafe of UCLA & USC location, been a fan for a long time. However, the beef rows supposed to be sauce beef turn out to be…I don’t know what this is called…taste like ham. And cost $14, don’t recommend the beef roll. Saliva chicken is still good tho

The noodle is lack of favour with just some small pieces of meat. Some of the dumplings are broken and way too salty. I even don’t want to mention about the drink. The staffs are too busy to serve me and the place is quite noisy.

Ive been to the location in Gardena many times before, and came here hoping to satisfy a beef stew noodle soup craving. To our surprise, the food here was very different. The noodles werent as thick and the soup wasnt the hong shao niu ruo mien we were expecting, but it was still very very good. Here, the portion was huge, with am absolute ton of noodles. Not that we were complaining. The shaved lamb noodles were also excellent and will likely become a mainstay order of ours.

Noodles are handmade in front of you. The soups are delicious and flavorful. The spicy beef is not spicy at all but has three best flavor. Their garlic spare ribs are very crispy so get something saucy to eat with them. One bowl is enough to share between 2 people, so order small first.

The noisy environment make a big dent on my lunch experience. I hardly ever can hear people cross table from me. The hard surface amplified the dishes collecting, people talking and the horrible chair dragging sound. I couldnt enjoy my noodles because it just too much noise going inside the restaurant.

Not a cafe(the name may mislead people), it is a noodle house and probably the best thing about it is that noodle arent those already made in factory by machine. But they make it in kitchen in real time after you place the order ( fresh make noodle). It was open late so we decided to have noodles for dinner.Just average food with nothing to gloat about.I found the skins of their dumplings way too thick for my taste.It is likely they order from other vendors and the dumplings were not made on the premises.I had a better experience at this restaurant the last time I was home in LA.They could have changed hands or their regular cooks were off for the 🌙 night.

The first few times we went there was when it had just opened - good food, affordable prices, large portions. The business boomed soon after. The restaurant was bumping up prices a bit, thats ok. Still worth it. Good service, nice people, awesome. Fast forward a bit - they got too greedy. Prices went up, quickly, portions got smaller. Guess what? They killed the golden goose - once the restaurant was always full - every table filled with satisfied customers. A bunch of the staff got changed out, replaced with ones that werent nearly as good. Yeah, they mightve made a bunch of money then, when people bought their food and never came back. Even before the coronavirus, they barely have one or two customers at their tables. I went from going there once or twice a week and now I avoid it. Havent went to the place in quite a while. Hopefully theyll turn themselves around soon.

The only food in there is good are noodles and everything else is not good. The one waitress didnt have eye glasses are very rude when she brings my noodles her fingers is touching the noodles. Really nice that they make their Noodles in front. The food is good but while the servers are nice there communication skills seem to be lacking. We had a hard time averaging whos dish went to who. And we had a couple of Chinese speakers with us and they had a difficult time communicating with the servers. Several of my team said they would go back. At this point Im not sure I would.

This is one of my favorite places in the area. I am fascinated by the idea that the noodles are being made right here. My wife and I eat here usually once a month. everything has been very good, food wise. I used to go and eat here alone also. But now they have been so busy that there are not spots for single diners. Well, there is a bar by the noodle maker, but that is not for me. Service can be anything from very very good to where is that server or food. We park in the huge plaza nearby and walk over. We will continue to come again and again.

Amazing noodles. Every dish was so good. A lot of reviews ding it for the service at this place. The pan fried dumplings, XLB and scallion pancakes were all executed well. The standout dish though was the braised lamb with sliced noodles!It’s true that at times the service can be more DIY where you have to get the servers attention. But the food is totally worth it.

Stretch noodle tastes great ( did have to ask them to cook it a bit more, was slightly undercooked at first). Steamed Juicy pork dumplings were delicious. Leak pies were excellent too . Tried stinky tofu, not good. BBQ lamb sticks were ok.Overall very glad came to this place, everyone in the family was happy, beats waiting at Mama LuS, and here had a lot new things to try, and a very nice environment too. 4.5 to 4.7 stars from me.

Food was above average and inexpensive. It’s their utter disrespect to their customers that earned them a 1 star. We helped ourselves the entire time at this place. The only time a person came to us was to bring our food to our table. When we were leaving, the waiter rudely stopped us and ask for a tip. “You MUST leave a tip” she said, “if you don’t leave a tip we will charge your credit card according to the recommendation on your receipt.” Ok this just escalated to credit card fraud.

Some of the dishes you order will have a really bad plain after taste and it was so bad that I decided to stop eating. Ive had Northern Cafe around the USC area before and I was wholly disappointed. Everything was swimming in oil and had no flavor. However, this place blew away my expectations. If youre looking for Beijing / Northern Chinese style food, you should checkout Northern Cafe.All the noodles are handmade and hand-pulled. They even have a glass window just as you walk-in to watch the sous-chefs pull the noodles similar to what you see when you go to Din Tai Fung (DTF).They have everything from beijing meat pies to Xiao Long Boas (XLBs). While their XLBs arent the DTF quality the rest of their food is on point.The traditional lamb skewers are common street food items in Beijing and their rendition of it is just as good and probably slightly healthier.All their soups were tasty and the noodles were amazingly stretchy / bouncy to get that good handmade toothsomeness to each bite.We werent a big fan of the sesame bread since we were expecting something closer to Da Bing, but it came out more like a fried angle food cake looking thing that was mostly just bread-y.The potstickers are legit here where they come out as a beautifully spindly cluster that gives it that extra bit of crunch.For the other reviews that gave it a lower score because its not a cafe are simply lame. Its true, its not your regular boba tea cafe, but the place is modern and clean. Its a sit down casual restaurant with lots of space and good for parties up to 10.For a person who lives in the area and who has been to many restaurants in the area, Northern Cafe is a new go to.

The worst service in the world. Never offer you drink and napkins, if you dont ask for it. And even you ask, they only give you one piece at a time. And never ever refill your drink. I am very happy to find delicious Lanzhou ramen~ Although there is still a gap between it and the domestic ones, I have eaten at several restaurants here in Los Angeles. This one is pretty good. There are many kinds of ramen flavors. It would be nice if the noodles could be thinner. I had ramen when I was a kid. The chef can make it very thin and delicious. TBH the noodles are not bad. Just dont order the BUNS, theyre COVERED with oil that smells like expired grease. Ok fine I drained the oil with some paper napkins, but then when i take a bite the inside is RAW Dough . The noodles are all okay, dont order the beef patty, the noodles are not cooked well. The thick oil on it smelled like expired and low-quality oil (similar to the smell of waste oil in the range hood at home) and I didnt dare to take a bite. I was so scared.

It is far from the so-called Lanzhou Ramen, not authentic at all. Normal-thick noodles taste like Zaijue noodles, too thick and tasteless. The soup was sticky and seemed to have some starch in it.
