One of the few places in the Bay Area to serve the combo of Central Asian/Eastern European food. Menu is quite extensive, offering a number of carbtastic dishes. Of course, lots of meat as well, making for a hearty meal. Prices are reasonable for the large portion sizes that you get. Service is friendly and prompt. My group of six had the borscht, manty (dumplings), chicken stroganoff, ganfan, kurrdak and plov. Were blessed to have tons of leftovers.

VERY overpriced. $10 ice creams, $17 scrambled eggs, and $20 greek salad 😅 Borscht soup is the only decent one in the Bay Area, that’s why I come here. For the rest, you’re better off going somewhere else

Food was great and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed the Pelmeni and Plov. We also had the Samsy with meat, which was a slight bit on the oily side. Medovik was very tasty. The mint tea came in a big pot and was enough for 3 people to share.They also have a small nook with some games and a chalkboard, which is great for kids to hang out.Will definitely come back again to try the other dishes and desserts!

Holly music. Mashed potato dumpling is good, but its not what I would order, knowing how they taste.The beef noodle is a less flavorful version of Lanzhou Lamian.Beet soup is average, Vietnamese like to cook with ribs to enjoy the soft cartilage.The meat pastries Appetizer are great, worthy for take out. Restaurant is good friend gathering, the server is very friendly.

We were there for the dinner and ordered: 2 Borscht (medium), Medovik cake, tea pot. Borscht was just awesome, a nice tasty beef meat in it, really soft and delicious, even the medium serving is huge for one person, so for now its the best Borscht Ive ever tasted in California! Medovik cake had a couple of overcooked bottom layers (which give a kind of bitterness) and the waiter friendly replaced it with other cake which is Kiev cake, that one was much better than Medovik (I hope its happened only at this time and will be better in the future). Overall, its a nice place with a good food and service so I would definitely recommend it and will visit them again!

This is my favorite restaurant in the Bay Area. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order, I always enjoy the food! We had a wedding here. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who works here. The food was very tasty, there was a lot of it. The place itself is beautiful inside, the location is convenient. Everything went comfortably and easily, without problems or any stress. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Excellent Kyrgyz food, located conveniently next to the San Carlos Caltrain station. The staff were friendly, polite and fast. The samsy were perfect - plump and full of meat, juicy on the inside and flaky on the outside. Manti were perfectly steamed and also full and juicy! They reminded me of the kind I got from street vendors in Bishkek! I had the Kuurdak lamb and potatoes, well spiced and topped with plenty of fresh veggies: onions, tomatoes, and dill. The carrot salad was also fresh and subtly prepared. My stepkid had the borscht, a generous bowl that tasted amazing. Food was served with fresh sour cream and a delicious, spicy adjika(?) sauce. Black and green tea are also available. The decor was tasteful and cute, it also reminded me of cafes near Issyk-kul. Overall, this is an amazing restaurant that captures the spirit and flavor of Kyrgyz cuisine. If you are looking for a taste of that charming countrys food, this is the place to go. You can also literally step off the San Carlos Caltrain station and walk there in less than a minute, so if you commute nearby, you should try it at least once! Plenty of free parking in the lot behind the restaurant, and close to 101. I cant wait to go back and try the lakhman!

Everything here is perfect. Brought my 2 American friends to try real Russian food. Got a rush of memories from my childhood eating borsh, kampot. Definitely recommend if you love to try new food. Very good pelemeni and salads. Would definitely recommend coming for apps and entrees. Unfortunately desserts were very tough and chewy - not correct texture. On the expensive side as small portions of salads are around $20. Unfortunately had to flag server down every time, we were not greeted for 15+ minutes and took long time for food or to ask for any fixings. If you have the patience would still recommend coming to enjoy some of the main dishes! They are worth the wait times.

I really wanted to love this place, as I miss a good borscht from days traveling around Eastern Europe. But other than the manti (dumplings), which were delicious, the prices felt a bit high and the borscht (what I came for) was not very flavorful, a bit too watery, and lacking on substance (with only some small shreds of meat compared to far too much cabbage). $18 for a somewhat tasteless soup just doesnt cut it, even by Silicon Valley price standards.

The Lagman we had was nearly perfect, although I have a personal inclination towards lamb; nevertheless, it was still delicious. The Mantys (dumplings) stole the show with their amazing juiciness, and its no surprise that they are such a hit at this place.Beyond the delectable food, the service truly elevated our dining experience. Came here with my family recently, ordered a lagman, samsa, kebab and plov. Lagman was flavorless. Plov was heavy and was also lacking flavor. Kebab was decent but not worth the $24 for one skewer. The samsa was tasteless and was clearly microwaved before being served.Overall the food was bland, with some of it microwaved and extremely overpriced (each dish being $20+). I will not be back.

It was different and that was my main interest for going. Aside from that however; 15$ for 2 ordinary looking fried eggs, the cost of the carrot salad, a side of dry mashed potatoes or corn niblets for 8$. I mean; the prices were what killed what interest i had in recommending this restaurant to others. The borsch was good but i paid 20$ for that bowl of soup and most of it is made up of beets. Would’ve asked for extra sour cream but waitress too busy to get her attention in a timely manner. Partners dish was very ordinary as for my lamb racks; they were smaller than i had expected and didn’t offer any exceptional taste to that of the kind of food item i wouldn’t be able to cook at home. Sadly; won’t be going back. There wasn’t enough that wowed me and the final bill soured my mood for dessert.

Took different friends on 2 different occasions and everyone enjoyed the delicious food and excellent service. Tried all 3 dessert cakes, but the Kiev cake was my favorite. Although it looked like it would be super sweet and heavy, it was actually not that sweet (just the way I like it) and light with a variety of textures. While we were sorry to see the vegan crepe restaurant that used to fill this location close, we were very pleasantly surprised by just how good our lunch at Nursel was yesterday. We shared the Mantay meat dumplings and the Plov (rice and lamb), which were both delicious. First time here. Location is next to the Caltrain Station. Ambience is not fancy, you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. But food is terrific. We tried the borscht, plov, and lagman. All were delicious. Ill call out the plovs savory rice. This place is a real gem! It is really difficult to find Central Asian cuisine as it is and this place really delivers on quality and taste! I used to order catering from Nursel before her restaurant opened and so excited that she now has a cosy place where we can enjoy her food that feels home made and comforting. I have tried every single thing on the menu so far and it is hard to pick favorites as every item on the menu is soo good but if I had to pick, my go to would be the Manty and Borscht and for dessert, the Napoleon cake!

Amazing food. Central Asian dishes and some Russian classics as well. Simple menu with something for everyone. I like everything but the Plov (rice and meat dish) and Samsy are my personal favorites. The Manty ( dumplings) are next up, and the Lagman (tomato noodle dish) is something I think everyone will find familiar and comforting. But once again everything is really good so just test it all and find what you like.A couple samsy make a great quick affordable and healthy lunch or snack. You have to try this place though. Central Asian and Russian food is different but will feel very familiar to you as its comprised of things most people eat anyways (meat, rice potatoes, some veggies like tomatoes, bell peppers, and carrots). They just use spices more local to that central Asian region. But its not like say Indian or Thai food where the spices can be very spicy hot and very bold. Its all subtle yet tasty and suitable for anyone.The other thing I love is there is very much a community vibe here. Which is very rare amongst restaurants in the US nowadays. Also its right off the Caltrain stop so its perfect to pickup something on your way to or from.
