My daily go to Sushi place, prices is super affordable, less than $10 / roll, Ramen is available as well, food quality superb, because owner has been in Sushi business for 20+ yrs several locations in Sacramento very popular, lots of parking and easy to go to. This business has been opening for 6 yrs, give it a try and you are going to love it.

Oba Japanese Kitchen is one of my top 5 sushi restaurants. I’ve been to Japan, and there won’t be anything like it here in the states, but Oba is a little closer than most places. Their sashimi are fresh and no fishy smell. I ordered the Pepper Fin sashimi and it was melt in your mouth greatness. The Shiro Maguro was fresh but the fish was thinly shaved. Both had daikon with ginger and wasabi. The IZ roll was rolled tight, fresh but it did lack in flavor. I’ve been coming here for years and will remain a loyal customer. 🫶🏼

Food was ok, the shrimp tempura in the roll was alright, not as crunchy as I like it. Flavor was good in all rolls we ordered. Bento box is good for the price, but what I didn’t like is that the steak and chicken were not grilled enough for me. Again flavor is good. We were not given any plates to share the rolls or the napkins I requested, they were slow for a Saturday afternoon. The place is ok but did not give me the urge to come back soon. Very budget friendly and food is ok.

I do a food delivery service and I was getting so many requests to pick up food from this restaurant so I decided to try it. Its delicious! The prices are fair. I got some sushi and a bento box and in total it was about $22. The food was delicious, the customer service is great. I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends!

Got a 2 item bento box to go for lunch. Their portion sizes are great and it also comes with 2 pieces of California roll. The spicy teriyaki chicken was a lil salty but I enjoyed the tempura. That was well done. Everything was packaged well and this totalled out to be $11 or smthng per portion so thats awesome.

Came here with my family in this hot season. this place is clean and cool . the food was excellent with decent price. and our waiter gave us the best experience ever. offered we the seat with shade when we wanted to sit at the booth next to the window with the heat of the sun. and recommended us the hamachi kama and bbq albacore was bomb!!!

Best sushi in Sacramento, in my opinion. Sushi always tastes fresh and I recommend the dragon roll, real California roll, and spider roll. Also, the stuffed jalapeños are the best app hands down.

Its quite unfortunate that we had such a bad experience tonight. Maybe they were understaffed, but the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. I had such high hopes. They serve sukiyaki- one of my all time favorites that you dont see on menus often. The menu is extensive and it seemed that it was going to be a great dinner, but then it went downhill. Our server took a long time to take our order, he never asked us about drinks (we had to flag down the other server) and after a reasonable amount of time, my sukiyaki came. Woo hoo. SEVENTEEN MINUTES LATER my BF got his 12 pieces of nigiri. Sashimi on rice. Thats it. Thats all he got. It took two servers attention to hunt his food down. People who came in after us got their sushi rolls before us. WTH?? I really considered if the food was good I would come back because maybe it was just an off night, but unfortunately, the food wasnt that great and $50 later, we left and wont be back.

I’ve gone here a handful of times, and each time, I order the same thing. The problem is - every time my order is brought out, it’s made differently. Sometimes there’s broth, other times there isn’t. Too much seasoning and other days, not enough. The noodles are usually over cooked but today, they just…melted in my mouth. The food is awfully inconsistent. I never know how my food is going to come out. Very disappointing.

Food was excellent, service not very good.I stopped by the previous evening to find out when last service was and was told 7:30 PM. Fair enough, since they close at 8. When we got there at 7:15 and said we wanted to dine in, the young man immediately said we had to be out by 7:45. Then said we had to pay immediately and kept coming up to our table to get payment. We also got the distinct feeling that the staff wanted us gone, so they could clean up.Ive seen things like this before and is always managers that push for no overtime and dont care about service.

The boxes are really a great option and big. Overall everything was delicious, the service needs work though. The service needs to match the quality of the food at this place.

Ive been fortunate enough to be from one of the cities in North America known for its sushi restaurants, Vancouver BC. Having traveled back and forth along the West Coast and being a new transplant to the Sacramento area. The most well known sushi restaurant in the Sactown area is Bento Box. I have to tell you all that youve been wasting your time.If you want some legit sushi do take the time to go or order from Oba Japanese Kitchen as I did.The restaurant has never been too busy the times Ive been there so my opinions on the atmosphere may be disregarded.When it comes to the food, in my opinion. It has been the best sushi rolls Ive had in Sacramento .Unlike many places in Sacramento they seem to know how to actually roll a roll.It was a little pricey from what Im used to but then again inflation has been going at a higher rate than our paycheques.Definitely if you have the time and have the funds I recommend this place.👍

Ive had Oba delivered before but this was my first time in their restaurant. Nice place. Clean, good service, fairly busy (it was a Monday afternoon) when I arrived, but quieting down by the time I finished. Steady flow of customers and delivery drivers picking up orders. Theyre not the cheapest Japanese option in town, but the food is much better than most and definitely great for the price.

I found this little gem hidden in that little Jack n The Box shopping center on the NE corner of Broadway and Stockton Blvd. If Jack n The Box wasnt closed because of an emergency I would have never found it - and that makes me sad. I always determine a restaurants worth by the quality of the chicken they use. I know... Im a little strange. Nonetheless, if the chicken, when bitten, leaves tendrils (haha ewww!) stuck in your teeth - its a wrap for that place! Never again. Ive been to a few places where Ive spent $25-30 for a chicken something-or-other and bit down on what feels like veins inside the all white meat chicken (just because you bleach it doesnt make it all white meat) when you pull it from between the teeth. But this place is the opposite - $10 for a rather high quality piece of 🐔 ! The dining area is large, roomy and very clean. The staff, while all seemingly hurried, are still friendly and will smile at you whenever they can. I would definitely recommend this place!!

I’ve been coming to the Sushi cafe family of restaurants for years. The food is a solid 7 out of, but they are not the most customer friendly. Just now, they upcharged for dinner, and charged extra for katsu sauce even though they only dribble a scant amount on the chicken. There are better options near all locations. Save your money for businesses who appreciate their customers. I won’t be back!

On a positive the prices are very decent for the amount of food you get. Negatives, the sushi wasnt fresh like I hoped. Ordered 3 different rolls and none of them stood out in taste from the other. In addition I ordered shrimp tempura and I could taste the oil they fried it in. Friendly staff but service was okay we had to keep asking for stuff because the waitress never offered.

To begin with, the Fried rice was not fried, it came to the table steamed. Since I ordered the house fried rice I thought that it would be the usual definition of house which is meant to be all of the stuff from the other kinds of fried rice~~to include chicken, shrimp, beef, and all vegetables offered...not the case...it was very plain, with a little corn, a few chunks of chicken and not much else...very sadly disappointing. I am from 250 miles away and it turned out that my 14 yr. old kid left their phone there...we were in a motel 60 miles away when we discovered this, and called the restaurant. The staff was not helpful at all...I even said i would send a self addressed, paid for padded envelope to have them send it to me....no, we dont do that....o.k....I said I will be back to the childrens hospital in August...so please put the phone in an office drawer or safe til I can get it ~~ no we dont do that. They said they would put it in the lost and found...that is all...this is a new Galaxy 12 phone and SO...i had to drive back 60 miles to get it since they would NOT work with me...VERY DISSAPOINTING!! Will not go here again EVER.

Staff is super friendly. My friend has a Gluten sensitivity and they had run out of gluten free soy sauce. The server actually left the restaurant and bought a bottle for us to use. I get the same Bento Box for lunch at each visit. The Shrimp Tempura is outstanding. I prefer Teriyaki Steak but I am certain the Chicken is just as good. The sticky rice is great as is the Sushi that is included. A side of tossed green salad and a bowl of soup that compliments the box is tasty and well worth the visit. I have yet to sample the rest of the menu as I take my food to go....the Bento Box travels easily. My order has chop sticks, Teriyaki sauce packet and a napkin.The staff are attentive and quick with order completion. They are kind and helpful.

The albacore hamachi and salmon were all very average, the owner is Chinese so Im not surprised theyre going cheap on fish quality, is buying very inexpensive cuts of fish from his supplier. Terrible. The bento boxs had such meger portions for EVERYTHING. There was only 2 tiny pieces of California roll in it. Every other restaurant would include a whole roll. Its fake crab, vegetables and rice. It costs nothing. Why only put 2 pieces. The tempura appetizer was like 4 pieces of vegetable. Both my friend and i ate a bento box each and an appetizer and we were still hungry. The salad dressing was not traditional ginger. I think it was watered down ranch. And the miso soup had a really strange aftertaste. Miso is just bean paste. It always tastes similar. This one was weird. Kind of sweet. For some reason it reminded me of urine. I have never felt the need to leave a positive or negative review before, but it was so bad that i had to say something. I should have taken pictures. The delivery guy was quick and did a good job though so i had to tip well. Cant blame him for food.

I remember when it was a Chinese restaurant the food was great then and I and my families went a lot back then.I went yesterday with a date and its not the same and staff seem to be not as friendly and the taste is very different from other Japanese food restaurant I have eaten at and cook at home and with family. I could not finish my meal...I am saddened now. I ordered bento and California sushi rolls. I also order for my date he had pocket rolls he calls them 3 rolls. I paid a lot too.

I work down the street and Oba has been my go-to for takeout during the COVID issue. Quick, contact-less, fairly priced, and good food. Their edamame is cooked to perfection. Im pregnant so all I can eat is the Cali rolls or tempura, but it never disappoints!

We had a Groupon for 4 ramen, 2 sushi rolls, and 4 beers. The service was really great. We had a Dragon roll and Rock n Roll, both really tasty. We had 2 M8 Ramens (spicy Cha Shu) and 2 M1 (Cha Shu). Broth had a nice flavor, not overly salty like some ramen. We will definitely come back again!

Excellent sushi rolls not a big roll of rice it was packed with fresh sushi just the perfect amount of sauce not swimming in it. The beef ramen was excellent great beef flavor. Char sho pork ramen was excellent also. Great new Japanese noodles house. Will be going back for sure . Great looking decor on the inside, no sushi bar just booths and tables. Prices are on low side compared to most Japanese restaurants which was nice surprise. Great job you guys!!!!

This used to be my favorite place to go, until Sunday afternoon I ordered the beef teriyaki and received nothing but grizzle complained to the manager Kevin and he rolled his eyes so I asked the waitress which at that point Kevin was so frustrated came to the register and pushed the waitress out of the way and keyed 10% off. Bad customer service and working in a hostile environment. He should be reported to the labor board.

They never told me nothing nor did the sign said they close at 730. Or last call at 730. They should have that on the sign! Anyway the young man was rude but the other man said it was ok. The worst customer service ever! I dont think the owner has ever worked in the restaurant or customer service industry before. If you ever dare order from them, make sure to have them repeat your order back to you, apparently there owner doesnt know his own menu. And go through your order before you leave. I ordered chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura. I got home and saw I got mixed tempura instead of shrimp tempura, and what looked like my chicken teriyaki. I called and went back for my shrimp tempura. When I got home and started to eat, I took a bite of what I then realized was salmon teriyaki instead of my chicken teriyaki. I called and went back again. I went 3 times to get my order correct and was talked to as of it was my fault the order was wrong. And then he attempted to charge me more money to get my order correct. I refused to pay extra just to get what I originally ordered, and left with my disgusting salmon teriyaki instead of the chicken teriyaki that I wanted. It was my 1st and last visit. Unfortunately I cant give this place negative stars! DONT WASTE YOURE MONEY!!! Go somewhere that appreciates their customers.

I don’t recommend eating sushi at this restaurant. I just moved to the neighborhood and decided to try Oba since it’s close to my house. I ordered a seaweed salad and a couple of sushi rolls. The roll with yellowtail tasted especially fishy but I don’t eat Hamachi very often so I didn’t think much of it. I ended up getting mild food poisoning later that night.
