Came to lunch here. Food was incredibly tasteful. Even the green tea was delicious.Their spicy tuna was 10/10. The rolls we got were red dragon roll, oji special roll, and salmon crazy roll.Will come back for happy hour deals soon.Update review:Came here today for Veterans Day for dinner. The Spicy Tuna Tempura roll was the best and most delicious roll of the 4 we ordered. Strongly recommend everyone try it. We also had the Crunch dragon roll, the Firecracker roll, and the Langostino Lobster Roll. The Firecracker roll was full of flavor also.

Went for the lunch special and it was amazing. The value here is undeniable for lunch, but I had to ask for specific things like not drenching every special roll in sweet sauce. I respect the service and the chef here, but would probably limit my visits to weekday lunches. Slight other thing to fix would be how sweet and drenched the steak teriyaki is - I’d rather eat it completely without the sauce tbh.With all that said, very good fish quality and price point for lunch special!

Please forward this message to the Owner Management Or Better of Oji Sushi Restaurant Montebello California and all other locations. In relation to during Happy Hour keeping all menu items under $20.00 per menu item and before/thereafter as some items vary but no more than $30.00 per menu item thanks it is appreciated. Also to provide coupons and discounts for customers samples at times as well in restaurant and all other matters the same. As I realize that the reviews are read unfortunately there is no email address provided so this is the best option for contact instead. Been customers for some time overall everything is good food service restaurant clean and so on. Please to keep pricing reasonable affordable as watching this very closely and not just here.

Food here is mostly pretty good. I always get a bento set, the spicy chicken is my go to choice. Steak was a bit overdone, don’t recommend that. Sushi is really good for the price points.

It is very delicious. The ingredients are fresh and expensive, but the price is cheap. The udon also has a lot of ingredients, so it tastes very luxurious. I was curious because there were always a lot of people, but I came here for the first time. I think I will come here often

This is my second time ordering delivery from Oji Sushi. I really like their menu and appreciate the veggie options for sushi. What I liked the most of this time was the deep fried aged tofu. Omg it was so soft inside and perfectly crunchy outside. The Asian fries were well seasoned as well. Crunchy and tasty. The rolls were not something special but they were well prepared. The food arrived quickly and as expected. Except that it was missing sauce for the aged tofu. But I really recommend that aged tofu, yummy! Next time it would be nice if they put a safety seal or seal the package instead of hand it loosely and open to the driver.

Oji sushi is such a gem.All the food are super delicious and fresh.I even think they need to charge more ...to think about their fish quality, too good!We tried truffle halibut, pink lady, soft shell crab, the special roll and udon. Everything was awesome, but the broth for the udon was extremely flavorful.They said the broth for the udon is housemade. They take a lot of time from the morning to make the broth. Also they put a lot of vegetables in it, comparing other restaurants just put some light topping. Also the food came out real fast. I would like to give them 200 out of 100. It was amazingly tasty that I had no left over to take home lol. The manager, Tris and the sushi chef, Eddie at the bar kept checking on us if everythings alright and if we need anything more. Everyone there were super welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommend and will be returning real soon!

The sushi here is really good. We had the crazy Alaskan, tiger roll, and crispy shrimp tempura. The teriyaki chicken was bomb. We ate it instantly so I didnt take a picture. They have a sushi bar inside and outside seating. Service is consistent and friendly.

Great Place to hang kick it and just have good food and company.... I put a 3 on service due to my order.... I ordered a Ramen bowl first without the broth.... It just took a long time. Everyone had their meal and even finished and then I got my order. I felt like that my order was forgotten. Overall still a cool mellow place to hang.

I got the California roll, Salmon sushi, Pacific roll, and the Salmon Crazy Roll.The Salmon Crazy Roll ($16) includes spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, salmon & crunch onion. I thought this roll was just OK. We did get our food delivered to us, so it might have changed the overall taste in our order!California roll ($6) was great & the Salmon sushi (2 pieces $5) were surprisingly delicious! We also got the Pacific Roll ($15) which came with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, krab, avocado, and cucumber!

Very good food, I was staying at a hotel neer by and I Grubhubd sushi from oji. The quality of the food was very good but it didn’t justify the high price in my opinion. I really liked the baked salmon roll. But make sure if u order food from there to ask for extra soy sauce and chopsticks because they only send one of each with your order even a big order.

Here’s the thing to remember when you go to Oji Sushi & Sake Bar, it’s located in Montebello which is a working class, gateway city in Los Angeles County. The restaurant makes up the northwest corner of Beverly Boulevard and Montebello Boulevard, marking the entrance of a sizable stripmall. Sushi is limited in Montebello so if you live there or happen to be passing through, Oji is the best you’re going to get. Oji takes pride in serving its community and Montebello is family orientated so more than likely there will be children present when you visit. It is not Urasawa or one of the other trendy, expensive sushi restaurants you would find in L.A. proper, but it provides good quality sushi and efficient service at a very reasonable price.Oji takes the pandemic seriously so the hostess will take your temperature before she seats you, offering indoor or outdoor seating. We chose to sit on the patio because it was a nice day, but the indoor ambiance offers modern Japanese decor that is aesthetically pleasing and fun.Also, the bathrooms were very clean and parking is not a problem.Our order was simple consisting of California roll, albacore, salmon, and sweet egg sashimi; we enjoyed it enough to get a second order with the exact same choices. I’m not one for sake, but Oji does offer two of my favorite Japanese beers, Sapporo and Asahi. They also offer Mexican Coke, which is made with real sugar instead of corn syrup like American Coke. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Mexican Coke is healthier than American Coke, but it sure tastes better. We had a pleasant lunch at Oji Sushi & Sake Bar on April 1, 2021, and I would go again if I am ever in the area again. The experience wasn’t so exceptional that I haven’t been able to stop raving about it, but for the quality, price, and location, you can’t beat it.

During the pandemic, we were ordering this place on Uber Eats. We finally got to come in person and it was so worth it! All the sushi we ordered, including the Blue fin, was buttery smooth and fresh. The rolls were perfection. Service was decent. Our server seemed new, but she did ok. She was attentive and genuine.It seems the staff here had it together. The restaurant was almost full, including the patio. They were busy little bees.We arrived right before happy hour which we were told: buy a beer, get one for $1. Not bad. Not sure if any of the sushi went on sale for HH though.Overall the experience was great. We will be back.

It was my first time coming here and I absolutely loved it! I wasn’t a big fan of sushi until I tried the food here and it changed my mind. I came around lunch time and had the crazy alaskan. It was so good I regretfully forgot to take a picture. There is a sushi bar inside and outside the store which is great when the weather is nice. The service was great, the staff was polite and whenever we needed them for something they came as quick as they could. The portions are accurate to the prices. In other words you do pay for what you get especially because the fish quality is really good! I really recommend coming here to eat and catchup with friends! Will be coming again real soon.

Incredibly modest exterior, but inside it is very cute, clean and well organized. The atmosphere was as good as the food. A good meal ruined by poor customer service. I went with a friend afterwork and happened to land within their happy hour window. My friend had ordered 2 rolls and an appetizer, while i ordered 2 rolls. While not considerably busy, staff was not particularly attentive this night. My friend received all three of his dishes in quick succession, while I only received one.Within our 30 minutes there, no one checked in on our table and did not confirm that our orders were delivered. We had to flag down a waitress to inquire about our missing dish. It turns out they misdelivered the dish and made no attempts to correct it. We went ahead and canceled the dish as by this point My friend had already finished all of his plates and there was little sense in dining where you arent welcomed.Requesting to cancel the dish was rather easy, however after that, the wait staff did not bring our check until we had to inquire about it a further 5 to 10 minutes later. When we received the check, we noticed that our order was almost completely misplaced. It stating that we ordered two alcoholic beverages and one more roll than we did. We didnt even order any soft drinks, just water, so it was rather strange to see these drinks tacked on. If I were none the wiser, Id have guessed they were trying to pull a fast one on us. Ill just chalk it up to negligence though.Even after getting an adjusted bill, it was still incorrect, but at that point it wasnt worth starting another process. It was close enough that we just paid. That being said they didnt come for our card after waiting another five or so minutes. We decided that its best to get up and pay up front. It was only then that they came to our table and take our payment.Each table has a sign that asks for tips during these troubling times. I completely understand and am happy to do so. But in order to ask for such tips, the service has to at least be...well serviceable. To have a sign at every table requesting tips like that is a bit poor in taste if the service is this egregious.All in all, the food was decent, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, I dont believe its worth going back to again. There are plenty competitive sushi restaurants in neighboring Monterey Park and Alhambra that will happily welcome you and provide you quality service. I will be frequenting those again.

I’m always nervous when restaurants serve me soy sauce in packets but I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt because it was close to my house and it had a great vibe. The staff was friendly and welcoming but where it suffered was in the food. The ginger tasted like it had turned and the tuna sashimi was sour.We ordered a few rolls all of which were the same amount of fake crab wrapped in rice. The only difference was the toppings. The crunchy roll was the least disappointing, but not crunchy. The tiger roll was slabbed in layers of tuna meat. The baked Alaskan roll which tasted like a hot sandwich.Up until now I’ve never complained of the fishy taste in sushi.It breaks my heart to write this because it’s my neighborhood restaurant but if your like us and looking for decent affordable sushi I suggest going the extra 15 minutes to little Tokyo.

Have been here before several times unfortunately it will probably be the last. Portions have shrunk. Asked for a Vegas roll that was half of its previous size. A catapiller roll with the smallest amount of eel I have ever seen. All our previous waiters and waitress gone. Such a shame. Just when you really like a great sushi place they change and get greedy.

Found it was a new establishment and tried it out a few days ago. The service was ok. I think they need someone who understands English better. At least the other server was fluent in English. She tried to compensate for the other guy. Anyway, the food was very good. I especially like the carb free roll. It was made with soy paper wrap and no rice. There were tuna, salmon, crab meat and asparagus. The sauce was also good. I enjoyed it and ordered it twice. I also ordered the calamari rings to share. Mostly it was cooked right. Some were slightly over cooked. I don’t care for the sweet chili sauce and asked for a tartar sauce or a thousand island mixed sauce instead. I think the chef made the tartar sauce from scratch. It was good. The price was average comparable to other sushi places around.

Second time for me since they changed ownership, and I am so glad they did! I waited for over a week before coming back just to make sure... Amazing food, fresh sashimi, sushi and rolls! Came to Oji hoping that it would be different from Sushi Mora and it was, kind of..the food was delicious. BUT!!!!! The service was slow when we first got here. We came in and made eye contact with every waiter that passed by us and no one said Hi or We will be with you in a second. ...nothing. 15 mins later someone greeted us. BTW..we were the only ones waiting at the time.Once we were seated we did get great service from Judy, very friendly and attentive.ONE MAJOR suggestion I have for the restaurant is to MOVE the dirty dishes area to a different location, maybe somewhere hidden or in the back. They have a beautiful wall design with the dirty dishes in front of it, which is ALSO the waiting area, so people waiting are constantly moving out of the way from the bus boy grabbing the dirty dishes. I DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE.I would give this place 4 stars because of the food BUT the dirty dish area ruined it.

I tried it twice already. Theyve really made the place look nice than when it was Sushi Moora. They have some new rolls from when it was Mooras I do miss the Hiyashi roll, the big beers and the lunch special at Mooras. I found it dumb that its advertised closing time is 11pm and here they are trying to get you out at 10:30 calling last call at 10. It was okay.

I don’t know what they put in my rolls, but I think I’m going to be sick. Both rolls had spicy tuna as the main meat, but the second roll I ate did not taste anything like it. If it is just poorly mixed tuna, then the tuna is very low grade, it is chalky and dry and taste like bad chicken.

Today I went to this sushi restaurant with my family and was completely dismayed. The service was horrible, they gave us our food late, with about 10 minutes between each dish arriving at our table, and in the end when we mentioned our complaints, they told us to leave and never return. It is because of this unprofessional and disrespectful behavior, I will never return again. Besides there are many sushi restaurants out there, ones that are professional and give the customer the service they deserve.

We had ordered everything we wanted once the waitress had taken out order, yet 4 dishes and a serving of fries came almost 20 minutes after the rest of our food. I would ask them constantly if our food was ready, and they simply said soon and walked off. IT IS BECAUSE OF THIS IRRESPONSIBLE AND CARELESS SERVICE THAT THEM HAVING THE NERVE TO CHARGE US $26 AFTERWARDS FOR THE TIP IS SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS. THE TIP IS MEANT TO BE FOR GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. anyway we try to fix it but no they got mad and rather than compromising they told us NOT TO COME BACK. Thats rude 😡

We walked in and it looked great. The waitress, Jo took our order and then she continued to avoid our table. After 20min, a gentleman came to our table and told us that they couldnt make the Skinny Cucumber, cause it kept breaking.....REALLY!! So I had to order another roll. At this time I asked him where my Gyoza and Edemame was, he said ohh you ordered that too...YES, along with crunch rolls. Well apparently our waitress Jo was avoiding us, because she gave our food to another table, that ordered after we did. We never got asked if we wanted refills on our drinks and the food wasnt great. Im VERY DISAPPOINTED and will never go back.

Rudy, I mean JUDY (the Oriental Woman) was having a bad day. Right when I walked in, I was told to get out immediately. I was actually excited to come here. It took ten minutes for them to take my order and it wasnt even busy, and when I was asked Judy I mean Rudy was very annoyed. After I finally was able to get my order taken I asked a question about an item on the menu, and she rolled her eyes telling me to step aside if I didnt know what I wanted to order. Turns out the only good thing I could get was an EYE ROLL.

As of writing this on 1/7/19, it still had the sign from when it was called Sushi Moora. It is a small restaurant with tv screens hanging from the wall showing sports and music playing. The lights are slightly dimmed with a brighter light coming from the chefs area showing off the alcohol they serve. My group tried 3 different sushi rolls. The crunchy roll, the tempura roll, and the third I believe was called the baked alaskan roll. The baked alaskan roll was definitely the star of the show.Edit March 18,2019: They have now updated their signing outside to Oji Sushi & Sake.
