I recently had the opportunity to try out the Okamoto Kitchen food truck, and while the experience wasnt perfect, there were certainly some highlights worth mentioning. I ordered the Katsu curry burger and the Okamoto Punch, hoping to savor some unique and delicious flavors.Starting with the Katsu curry burger, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed. The patty was dry, and to make matters worse, it was served slightly cold. The combination of these factors significantly affected the overall enjoyment of the burger. I believe that if the patty had been cooked juicier and served hot, it would have greatly improved the eating experience.As for the Okamoto Punch, I found that it didnt pair well with the Katsu curry burger. The flavors seemed a bit mismatched, and it didnt enhance the overall taste of the meal. However, its worth noting that taste preferences can vary, so this might be a matter of personal preference.Despite the shortcomings of my first experience, I am willing to give Okamoto Kitchen another chance in the future. Its possible that the dryness and temperature issue with the burger were due to a high volume of orders at the time. So, next time, Ill make sure to visit the food truck when there are fewer people, hoping for a better culinary experience.On a positive note, my cousin tried the Okonomi fries, and he thoroughly enjoyed them. He mentioned that they were flavorful and satisfying, indicating that the food truck does have some delicious offerings. Its encouraging to know that Okamoto Kitchen has other dishes that receive positive reviews.In conclusion, my experience with Okamoto Kitchen was a bit mixed. The Katsu curry burger left much to be desired, being dry and slightly cold, while the Okamoto Punch didnt complement the burger as expected. However, I would be willing to give the food truck another try in the future, particularly when there are fewer people ordering. Really like Okamoto kitchen. My food was ready within the pick up time frame so that was a win. The fries with the Japanese BBQ spice were delicious. Sweet with a bit of kick in the spice. The rice bowl was really good though Ill say the Gyūdon half was the best. The salad was a salad but I like their dressing its nice and creamy but doesnt have an overpowering flavor to it which I like. Lastly the drink was good, just make sure to mix it well like they tell you so the syrup and flavors distribute properly. Would definitely hit up Okamoto again when they come back to my area!

The colored drinks are way too sweet even after you mix the drink. Maybe they would taste better with less syrup. The fries were good, but the Katsu Curry burger was too hard and dry. This place is hyped.

This truck seemed a little overburdened on both man power and supply as theyd already ran out of their special soba noodles just after 12pm. They apparently were slammed but I guess that is to be expected when youre one of four trucks at an event. But a tofu bowl (waaay too much rice) fries and two drinks (both overly sugary) cost 30 bucks and Im still scratching my head trying to figure out how? No pricing was clearly listed. Also got the order wrong by adding something we expressly asked to hold and our fries order seemed smaller than other batches being served. A total ??? There was nothing special about the food that day to be honest. Too bad. Looked really good.

I love their Nom Bomb burger and home fries with the soy garlic butter! The bun is soft and the tofu patty is perfectly seasoned, they add sliced jalapeños for the extra kick. The fries are super tasty and crispy. I always get excited when I find out they are coming to my city.

DISCLAIMER. I ve read some responses from the owner and I can see that the guy cares about his business and I know how hard nowadays to survive during pandemic. I will rate this business 5 stars only to support him. But if I buy something next time - I will be brutally honest. Please dont let me down and I wish your business to prosperI wish I could rate these guys higher but I cant. I saw the ad on Facebook and decided to try. I bought beef burger with egg and fries and sushi burrito. Top bun is super thin while bottom bun is super thick. I dont know why they do that but it was weird. Taste was fine. I got small piece of bone in the beef and almost broke my tooth. Thats immediately a bad sign. Fries was nothing but tasteless. No sauce or ketchup were included. Also I had a stomach ache after a burger. I eat burgers at different places and very rarely I have any issues with stomach. I havent even tried sushi burrito but even if its good - its still 3 stars. My favorite food truck in LA. Been following them for years and the food is consistently good. Love the anime theme and fun stories on their social media. The nom bomb and sushi burrito are my fave. The food is ALWAYS fresh, innovative and delicious. The meal I tend to get is the tuna stack on the rice cakes. Insane good. Wish I had more of them every time. We also get the Okamoto fries every time. I don’t even like fries and these are incredible! So much umami!! My son loves the curry, although it can be seasonal. We have had pretty much everything on the menu plus seasonal. We even ordered their sauce because we love the flavors! The beverages are a great sweet treat to the savory dishes. I like the Thai tea, but we have had some of the other fruitier ones (I’m sorry I can’t recall the names!) the fruit punch and orange were the stand outs.Either way, these folks do their best to bring fresh food to our tables from a truck that has been giving them fits. Anything in their control is spot on. Anything out of their control cannot be blamed on them. They have personally called me to tell me an order was delayed and offered apologies and solutions. Who does that!? Great customer service. For those with complaints, I’ve found them to be unrealistic expectations. This food truck is out absolute favorite and I thank AnimeExpo for introducing them to us! Can’t wait to have our next meal with them!

I try to get from them once a month when they come to town. They make tasty food that reminds me a lot of fun fast food I get while Im in Japan. They can sometimes lag a little with timeliness of order preparation, but I dont fault then for it for how busy they get. Just something to keep in mind if youre ordering. I definitely recommend them if they have a stop near you and youre craving Japanese fusion that tastes like what youd get IN Japan. 💕

Great food every time! Repeat customer every time theyre in town or when theyre at a convention I go to. The website could be worked to be updated more often on their schedule and I deeply miss the cheese mochi being on the daily menu but I definitely recommend trying their food when you can!

Not worth it. I spent 25 dollars on a burger and fries. The patty was dry flavorless dry husk that was cold. Fries were barely edible and oversalted. I managed to eat half before chucking it in the trash. Vendor had no idea what was in the sakura latte which is baffling since its your food truck. Would not recommend, its cafeteria food at restaurant prices and I deeply regret buying and consuming their food.

Our first experience being so delicious and fun, we arranged to be notified when ever the OK truck comes to our area. Since then they have always come our way on Fridays and we havent yet missed their invitation to start a weekend off with a fun snack from this unique mobile eatery. While waiting for my last order, I wish I had snapped a photo of the two skater kids who moved just feet away from the OK truck before seating themselves on the sidewalk and immediately chowing-down on their Okamoto Kitchen treats. Check these guys out if you have a chance. You may just go skater-style yourself.

Just give up if you are not even going to try... I waited so long to place an order (pre-order) online and it was not ready for until 30 minutes after pick up. How can you screw up a order I placed the day before? How can you not be prepared to cook if thats your business?The food is terrible. Rice was dry as could be and the sushi burrito was mostly just dry rice. Their prices keep going up and up. Also the egg on one of the burgers I ordered was plastic. Like I think they accidentally put the display egg on my burger it was so chewy.Personally, Id suggest going to your local spot for Japanese fusion cuisine because this place will make you regret spending your money.This place was great before the pandemic but they are not worth the price anymore.

Okamato Kitchen is a great Anime themed food truck that I first tasted in Downtown LA at Anime Expo and was hooked from first bite! They now often come monthly or so to the Torrance area The food is just as amazing and even closer to home! I try to catch them whenever they are here at least one meal. I last enjoyed a Chicken Teriyaki Bowl which was delicious and authentic alongside so BBQ Fries which were cooked to perfection and the Okamato Kick drink which had a blue tint with a nice citrus punch taste. I always look forward to see what new menu items and drink they add over time and am also looking forward to watching their anime when it debuts with their mascot. If you enjoy anime and good food bring your friends, family and coworkers down to their food truck when its in town! You guys have great tasty food, I really love all of your none fish items (because I have minor allergies to seafood). The only problems I have had with the food would be the cross catamination that I had with you fried chicken, it had a fishy like taste despite the fact that the first time I ordered one it had a normal chicken taste. Sometimes your chicken is a little under cooked as well. I do think you guys are getting to much hate lately hope this review helps. Again I really like your food.

If I could give this place a -1 star and get my money back I would have. I spent over an hour to get something to eat, only to be overcharged twice and got a sandwich that was inedible because it was so badly overcooked. The chicken was practically Shoe leather. They were also selling their figures which are cheaply made and mine broke in the box just walking away, 49.50 for that? Dont even go to this food truck at anime related events. Its really not worth it.

This truck has been on my list of places to try for a long time. Based out in LA, this particular truck is difficult to catch anywhere near orange county. Their online ordering system is easy enough to navigate, theres food and drinks on the menu. Everything is good portions and quality. I wasnt blown away by, but at the same time it wasnt underwhelming. My guess is that I hyped it up too much. Worth a try if theyre in your area.

Hands down the best food truck experience! Gerald and his crew always whip up an incredibly tasty meal and do it with an upbeat, positive attitude. Not to mention the creative and easily recognizable design on their food truck. Taking it a step further, I also found their website to be extremely user friendly, informative, and stylish. You can tell they definitely went above and beyond with the details compared to other food trucks.Okay, onto the fun stuff... Most recently, they agreed to cater at our wedding after we told Gerald how much we loved the food and wanted to incorporate a fun alternative to the traditional wedding meal. He agreed but immediately told us to sample the interesting food options first to make an informed decision. It was really neat how he didnt pressure us and offered to be part of the process instead of simply providing a transactional experience. He also provided us with full transparency on the pricing details and catering options available. The initiatives that he took made the wedding planning experience that much more stress-free. To top it off, he even came by the wedding venue to run through the plan for the event as well as discuss all the little details to make sure we were in agreement.Needlessly to say, we received SO SO SO many positive comments and praise for the professionalism, efficiency, and, most importantly, great taste of the entire dinner reception thanks to the hard work of Gerald and his team. We cant thank you guys enough and this review simply doesnt do justice to all the incredible feedback we received from our guests.

I have loved Okamoto Kitchen for a long time. Great food, good people, an appealing aesthetic: these are the makings of a quality business. Attended a graduation party this past Friday and Okomoto Kitchen catered. BEST IDEA EVER!!!!There were four appetizer and four entrée options to choose from. Went with the sushi burrito and the potato balls and it did not disappoint. The flavor of their food is very one dimensional. It lacks something that leaves one craving for the next bite. Most Japanese influenced food Ive had have good flavors, even fast food places like Mos Burger. Certain American fast food joints (like In-n-Out) are tasty too. I was quite disappointed with Okamoto Kitchen. The fries were totally crunchy like potato chips - Every single one of them. I am not sure if thats their thing, but I didnt expect super crunchy fries. I gave one extra star because I got my food faster than expected.

Started to consistently falsely advertise regarding delivery to locations on their site and social media since last year. I used to be a big fan, but when you lie to your customers about things, who are unable to do pick-up, its pretty trashy. Sure, if you can drive to them its great. Ive been coming to this food truck so often, hat I am very high in the leaderboards on their site. With that, Ive tried nearly everything on the menu. The one item that Id recommend above all others is the Chicken Katsu Curry plate. Absolutely incredible and tasty. Everything meshes so perfectly together, and is something I try to get each time. Their rotating dessert menu is really good too. I try to look out for their Strawberry Cheesecake desserts.All in all, I see myself coming here time and time again, as long as they continue to provide tasty food for dinner!

I was kind of disappointed. I shouldn’t have hyped it up too much but the way they advertised their food was amazing. I got the katsu curry burger and cutlet was burnt. I had the milk tea and it just tasted funky. My boyfriend got the Japan fried chicken plate and it was way better than the food I got. Overall it was okay but I won’t go back again.

I always make sure to hit up these guys whenever theyre in Glassell Park. The food is amazing and different from any other food Im usually able to find in my neighborhood. Honestly wish they would come by more often! The takoyaki is out of this world, and the Bird of Fire sandwich is ACTUALLY spicy. So good. Be sure to hit these guys up when they come through!

Terrible food, I ordered the fried chicken plate and was very disappointed, Completely lacking in flavor, the chicken was dry and seemed like it had been frozen, the salad was wilted and the rice was bland. We also ordered the curry and it was just as awful, it had NO flavor, the meat was unseasoned and old, I mean the generic supermarket curry tastes way better. It’s like they’re not even trying and don’t care anymore.

Their truck was technically open but apparently they werent accepting cash payments so I ended up waiting an entire hour and a half while they kept saying 10 more minutes to people who hadnt ordered online already. This went on for about 50 minutes before I gave up and left. I waited in line 30 minutes just to order. There were only 4 people ahead of me. Then waited another 30 minutes for my order. Ordered the bbq fries and jfc. Flavors were good, but way too expensive! I also ordered a black iced tea. It was watered down, not very cold, and tasted terrible. I threw it away. It was smaller than 16oz and it was $5! Unfortunate that the service is so bad. Would not recommend.

First time last time. I saw this truck in my neighborhood and decided to go back after 20 min. After I arrived the only customer was walking away with their order. And as i walked up to truck one of the employees at the back window said something which i interpreted at first as he was taking online orders. I was okay with it since I was the only one in line. But after 10 minutes I walked closer to window and he said he was almost done with inventory!. Why?! Would you make a customer wait while you do inventory...Anyway, I got the Teriyaki checken. Portion too small for $13 bucks. Chicken was decent and salad was okay with dressing. Teriyaki sauce tasted mediocre (like a generic product from walmart).

Good and bad.Lets start with the good. The JFC chicken with mayo and lemon on the side was tasty. The chicken was perfectly crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The Yuzu Lime soda drink was a refreshing mixture of sour and sweet. So no complaints on those two items except I thought they were a little pricey for the portion.Now the bad. I order GYU DON (beef and rice bowl) hoping it had the savory and juicy ribeye taste I was craving. At first glance, presentation of the bowl look good. But once I bit into it, I was surprised by the sweet candy taste. Not what I expected from meat. I also wanted to order the Green tea Latte with boba but green tea was not available during this visit. So I opted for the Japanese Milk tea with boba. The milk tea was very sweet, like they loaded it up with sugar. The boba was hard so Im assuming old. To top it off, they did not provide me with the right straw for the boba.The bad out weighed the good. So I will just pass on this food truck next time I see it on the side of the road.First and Last.

Online order easy, pick up at truck easy to get to in on Oxnard Blvd., food was fresh and ready, worker jumped to serve as fast as any worker you see in Japan (if you’ve been there, you know what I mean), and that sushi burrito was sooo good and it didn’t need ANYTHING else other than another one to overstuff my happy face!

I only try them at conventions and I must say wow. They are really worth the wait and the price is good considering you get covers for your bento box to avoid spillage. Was just at ALA and their special was delicious. It had kara age, salad, takoyaki, curry and rice. Please come with three trucks to ax haha.

Their beef over rice dish is very good... Ive eaten it multiple times and the quality is pretty consistent... cant recommend any o/f the drinks they arent worth the price with how they taste... also the staff is a little hit or miss as well... but the few times i eaten here Ive walked away satisfied

I spent 36.00 on two burgers and 1 French fry. I asked for napkins and was told he didnt have any. Then I asked for a plastic knife to cut burger for my kids and he said no so I asked if he could please cut them in half and he told me I am to busy...absolutely lame and food was mediocre at best and way over priced

Just to be clear this review is based on their food truck.Anticipation built as today got closer. My son and I were looking forward to popular miso salmon burrito and sandwich. Not realizing that online ordering was our only option we drove to where the truck was parked. After figuring that out we placed our order and waited 45 min to be told our food was ready. So after a knock on the door we were told just a little while longer the fries were holding up our order. An additional 30 min later our food emerged and we were off. Fries were good...........well Id like to say more but....ok well the chicken sandwich was decent. My miso salmon burrito which was supposed to be warm was cold and had almost no flavor. The miso salmon sandwich was the same. The chicken plate we ordered was nothing special. The blue whatever drinks were over $3 a piece and Im sure it was just colored soda water. I spent over $80 at this truck and regret all of it.......but hey those fries 👍

I’m updating my review of this food truck, they only take online preorder/prepaid order and are not always fully staffed so the understaff people are always overworked.and may not take walkup orders.Just be aware that walk-up orders are low on their priority list, if you see their truck on the side of the road, it doesn’t always mean they are taking walkuporders
