Okumura has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I first ate there when it was still the owner chef and his wife attending to customers. The food is great and well thought out. We always have the salmon skin salad and the surprise we had was with the amberjack carpaccio. I will order that again.

If you’re looking for a fresh, authentic, local sushi place to dine in or takeout, this is the place to go! The seafood is always fresh and prepared well, would recommend getting the miso and shishito peppers for appetizer. The house salad is very yummy too. They have a wide variety of Japanese beer and saki. Great service and welcoming staff.

Yum, yum, & yum!!! I had such a pleasant experience here on a Friday night with my bf. Being a extreme sushi fanatic, I was glad to be able to dine out, while chewing on great quality fish. The snapper sushi was our favorite, but the yellowtail carpaccio sashimi was also delicious with the yuzu ponzu, and the salmon special sashimi with the truffle!! Who am I kidding, everything was amazing!! The servers were also very friendly and accommodating! We will definitely be back very soon!

Very tasty high quality sushi. Some of the best service Ive ever had. Not a fan of the cucumber salad, but it was definitely an interesting experience. Favorite was the kuro dai (black snapper). Picture is the halibut.

Price point definitepy does not match the food or the experience, portions and fish servings are really tiny. 8 dollars for 2 piece salmon susbi that is paper thin. Taste was whatever. Not once did a waiter stop to refill our waters, had to ask and wait several times. Will not be back

A small, comfortable upscale Japanese restaurant that offers excellent foods and warm, carring service. Both sushi bar and table service are available.Im a vegan and sometimes a sushi purest give me a bit of a hard time. Not here. The servers are friendly and provided vegan and gluten free information.I ordered a veggie roll and Agedashi Tofu, fried tofu cubes in a light broth. I found both to be very good. The sushi chefs are artists. Their serving are large, delicious and simply elegant.The rest of the party ordered sushi, that was beautifully made and Im told, delicious. Their serving were also generous.Free wheelchair accessible parking at the rear of the restaurant. Okumura is ADA compliant including the bathrooms.

Easily the best sushi restaurant Ive dined at. Oftentimes youll see them cutting sushi right out of the fish so you know its fresh and you know its what they say it is. No clandestine fish substitutions here. Very highly recommended!

Been here a few times and dissatisfied every time. The service was bad, food didnt taste good, and whenever they make a mistake on any order, instead of fixing the problem, they choose to argue instead. While every other sushi place is packed at 7pm, they are empty which says alotm They also charge $3 per roll to cut it for you. I have been eating sushi for over 35 years and never been charged to get my sushi cut into pieces. Never ever going here again even if they are the last sushi place in the world 🌎

The place was clean, the service was great, the staff was respectful. The decor was simple.The sushi was great. I order the hot sake as well and it was a decent quality, the server was super helpful in recommending rolls and was really attentive. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants really good atmosphere and food.

We took my brother and sister in law to try this little place. Everything was great my husband loves yellowtail Hamachi, I love Tempura, my brother wanted teriyaki chicken and my sis in law had several types of sushi. Plus miso soup.Everything was fresh and delicious.

Really good sushi, I especially loved the black snapper one! The salmon skin hand roll was a little bit too small, but good for the price you pay. Overall the place is not overpriced and I like how fast and friendly the service was. Will go back when in the area.

Great sushi in a really convenient location. A lot of easy parking. The restaurant is small but it doesnt feel crowded. I sat at the sushi bar and loved talking with the chefs. Its great to get their opinions on whats the best of the day. Lunch time specials are also really great. Highly recommend!

Great sushi experience. We sampled a few of their rolls and nigiri and everything was clean and delicious. We especially enjoyed the tuna carpaccio. I would not miss this item. The blue crab hand rolls we also exceptional. Will definitely return.

The most amazing food. Excellent service and friendly staff. There were 6 if us and we had about 15 different rolls. The garlic edamame was to die for...I suggest you eat here...your tastebuds will be happy you did!

My new favorite sushi spot and luckily its right across the street from my office. Now to start with Im a vegetarian so my idea of sushi is different from most. But for me to find a place that can accommodate me is huge!!! I love crispy rice, so the chef creates a delicious vegetable crispy rice thing for me. I also highly suggest their little side salad & miso soup. Everyone is very friendly, service is good. Food is great. Very clean & I recommend!!!!

The quality of the sushi & sashimi at Okumura is top notch - the menu is not for the novice to such things though, so you may need some guidance from your waiter or an idea of what you like already when going in.That said - we know what we like!The hokkaido scallops made for fantastic sashimi, with a bit of truffle accenting the flavor.Albacore belly and Salmon belly were both fatty, delicious cuts of typically available fish that made excellent sushi.Whereas most restaurants offer an endless list of rolls, or dinner combinations that take the guesswork out of what do I get?, Okumura presents a list of fish with sushi or sashimi serving size options and not much else. I recommend a little research before going in, or remembering an order from a previous meal, for the easiest time dining here.

Food is great and service was awesome! Fish always tastes fresh. A little expensive but worth it for the quality! Been here 4-5 times and never had a bad meal. Parking can get crazy sometimes since its shared with other businesses.

Okumura is my favorite sushi spot in Encino! Ive been a handful of times and always had a great experience. The prices are fair and the sushi has always impressed me. The service has also been great every time I have been. I would definitely consider the prices at Okumura very good for the quality sushi and service.

Among the countless sushi restaurants along sushi row, there are only a few that really stand out for the sushi purist. Youll find dozens of 4+ star rated sushi restaurants in the valley and the majority of the reviews raving about that giant saucy and crunchy roll thats colorful and pretty. You can get that here if you really want that but if youre into traditional sushi made by a really gifted sushi chef then sit down at the bar in front of Ryota and trust what he gives you. His specials menu isnt full of items hes just trying to get rid of that day either. Usually, more than 90% of my meal is ordered from the specials menu and its all amazing.

Wanted to try this place for a while since I live so close to it! Finally tried it had the miso soup, chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura roll. Honestly it wasnt that good. Really bland and overpriced. $18 for the teriyaki plate and it was a chicken breast smothered in teriyaki sauce with a side of 4 pieces of veggies & a small bowl of rice. I was a disappointed with my experience. The roll was okay but not great!
