This is for Pad Thai only, did not have anything else but the Thai Tea which was just your average tea.I was encouraged by the glowing review from someone about the Pad Thai but heres my take. To start lets establish the fact that it is not bad, I wouldnt discourage anyone from ordering it but be prepared to let them know how spicy you want it, or if you dont want it spicy.Ive been eating spicy food all my life so it doesnt bother me but we were not prepared for how spicy it would be, no one even asked us so we assumed it would be non spicy like every restaurant weve had it at. My wifey doesnt really like spicy food so it was not enjoyable at all for her. If you dont eat spicy food dont forget to tell them or else youre going to be sad.Besides that it was good enough, I dont like the wide noodles but thats a personal preference. It has some kind of fishcake in lieu of tofu maybe its a Vietnamese fishcake? Interesting. Im snacking on the leftovers as I write this at 1am so theres definitely something I like about it, almost like a different dish, like if a cook from another SE country made it...hmm wonder why... ;)

The average 4.5 stars is exactly right. An unassuming store front, competent food, somewhat short on attendant eating accoutrement (like forks and spoons, not just chopsticks, plus napkins.) Best was the coconut chicken curry, which had perfect flavoring on reasonable mix of tender chicken and veggies, on rice. Couldnt stop eating it. Chicken Pad Thai, on the other hand, was a bit short on everything: not enough peanut flavors in the sauce, non-existent veggies, and slightly too-sweet sauce made a sub-par experience. The shrimp egg roll was different: a cocktail shrimp w tail on, dipped in batter, then deep fried to make it look like an eggroll finish. Overall, deserving of 4.5 stars, but Im opting for 4 bc the price was a tad more than what I think is fair. Ample heated outdoor seating.

Recently went to this sandwich shop when visiting my friends in San Jose. They put a fare amount of meat on the sandwich. The price is more than reasonable given how much they put on the sandwich. Delicious!

Really surprised and impressed by their Chicken Pad Thai - so flavorful (and much more flavorful than other pad Thais). The tofu and egg also absorbed the flavors so well. Recommended!

Portions are pretty big, prices are relatively low. Definitely recommend. Chicken pad Thai and ribeye rice are my top 2!

I tried the combo dessert. I didnt know what to expect. I was impressed with my first sip, it was an explosion of sweet flavors.It was a good experience, Im not sure Ill order it again though. But its worth trying it once.My friend had the chicken sandwich, he like it too and he was happy with the portion as well.

I had the shrimp and vegetables with rice. The vegetables were way undercooked for me. Other people may not mind this. The sauce was not great in my opinion.

Was at San Pedro square last night, was trying to decide bettwen this place and the mexican place. I choose this one as the line is shorter, or rather no line at all. I got veggie banh mi, which was delicious. Nice toasty baguette filled with tofu and pickled veggies. You can make it vegan by skioping the mayo, but i decided to keep mayo. I also ordered pineapple soda as it sounded unique (to me). That was also delicious, had bits of real pineapple in it too. I stopped drinking coke years ago so it was a real treat to have a fizzy sweet drink along with a sandwich.Unlike some other places the tofu was not shredded fried strips. It seemed like it was marinated and lightly sauteed, which was nice change for me. I will say it was not cheap, i spent $20 after tax and tip for just the 2 items.

I went to an event that catered banh mi from here! The baguette is quite wide and pretty fluffy... unlike other baguettes that are too crunchy and difficult to bite. I got the chicken banh mi and it was pretty flavorful! It wasnt dry at all luckily. They also put lots of butter, which is always a good thing! However they did put a lot of pickled carrots, which was a bit overwhelming LOLIll definitely consider getting banh mi from here while browsing San Pedro Square!

I ordered pad thai :1. They give you a generous portion with both tofu and chicken.2. The taste was great, the chicken is real and ingredients seemed fresh not manufactured.3. Very convenient ( for downtown residents) now that we might stay in purple tier instead of stay at home orders .

Every time we go to San Pedro Square Market, I end up at On a Roll and have their Shrimp Pad Thai. This is the dish I use to judge Thai restaurants. I feel this is the best Pad Thai I have found in the South Bay. Who would think to find it at a Vietnamese restaurant. The owner is super friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is the same with all Market restaurants but On a Roll has a few stools at their counter which allows you to avoid the congestion and noise near the bars. This is very helpful during the cooler months when patio seating is not available. Stop in for a very tasty and quick meal.

Very sweet staff, efficient, & high-quality Vietnamese-Chinese fusion food. Their Coconut Chicken Curry & spring rolls were the bomb.com. Flavors are really the best of both Vietnamese & Chinese cuisines, so in my eyes this is the epitome of great fusion food. I will 200% be back!

The food here is a mix of Vietnamese with some Thai and Korean mixed in. The portions are large, and the presentation of the food is good. I havent tired their sandwiches, or rolls though. Ive mainly gotten the pork and rice noodle, or chicken and rice. The dish I like most is the Korean BBQ Short Ribs. The sauce that is added to all the dishes are a wonderful finishing touch to well cooked meat, and is what makes the dishes taste great. There is a vegetarian option if you request it.Update: Since I first came here, the food quality has gone down and prices have gone up. I recently got the bbq pork noodles, and the pork was ridiculously tight and hard to chew. Not your typical Vietnamese bbq pork. I will skip this place from now on as the past few times I’ve eaten here I don’t feel like I’ve enjoyed the food at all.

Im a regular of the grilled pork Banh Mi, and when I feel like splurging, the tri tip. The bread is a true baguette, crunchy and light. I also think On a Roll is the best food value at San Pedro market place.

Ok, the tri tip sandwich is actually a Banh Mi and its literally the best one in all SJ. There i said it. Ive been coming here for five years for the sandwich I dont get anything else except a sandwich and their mocha iced coffee which is like a Vietnamese iced coffee, mocha. Ive had the tofu pad Thai, one time and it was pretty good. The tri tip sandwich and a mocha coffee are heaven sent. I promise there is nothing tastier in all downtown.

Ordered the wonton soup and spring rolls. The portions are HUUUGE and so so tasty. This isnt your typical wonton soup. They pack theirs with noodles, chicken, shrimp, krab, and so many other goodies. I felt a cold coming on and the broth alone perked me right up. Will definitely be coming back for more.

I was fortunate to travel to San Jose on company travel and got an opportunity to go to San Padro Square - undoubtedly the most happening place in San Jose downtown. The place is full of energy and fervor, with so many eating joint, specializing ins different cuisines, all clubbed together with those wide screens where you can enjoy the game of football / ice-hockey.We were food hopping, so we didnt eat entirely from On A Roll, but did try their Spring Rolls and Veggie Noodle. On a Roll serves authentic Vietnamese and you would certainly love if you have taste buds for it, but dont mistake it for Chinese food as it tastes veryyyyyyy different. Even the noodles they serve are very different and you may or may not like it.Recommend a must visit to San Pedro and to On A Roll if you like Vietnamese food !!

It was really kind of interesting discovering this indoor cafeteria somewhere in downtown. I ended up eating that on a roll one of the many food purveyors within it. I like bon Me sandwiches this bon me sandwich was quite good. I kind of expected it to be more expensive because its downtown. but I was happy with the quality of the sandwich nearly matching The increased price. The thai was not that good. But the egg rolls were yummy!

Yummy Vietnamese food. Lots of different types of rolls, but priced a bit high... The San Pedro square tax is not friendly for this spot for your wallet if youre getting a banh mi(Vietnamese roll) but at least to normal entree dishes are reasonably priced for the area.

Reasonably priced and good sandwich size. Tofu sandwich is ok, however if you have sensitive skin eat small bites else the bread might be slight rough to cause skin abrasions at top of mouth

Food looked tasty, but for some reason they neglect to mention that the pork noodle (maybe other dishes too?) have shrimp. Ordered delivery and there was no indication whatsoever that a pork dish would also contain shellfish. Unfortunately Im fatally allergic to shellfish so I was unable to eat the dish. So if youre allergic to shellfish... Stay away. If not it looks good so youll probably like it.Rating is due to lack of information on menu which led to delivering a meal which could kill me.

Great lunch and dinner location, very accommodating on ordering. Recommend the shrimp salad or swapping the shrimp for crispy chicken, chicken pad Thai and for lunch defiantly try their bbq pork sandwich

Try the pad thai. Just let him know how spicy you want it. I work next door and eat it at least once sometimes twice a week. Food is really good whatever you get there.

A friendly and reasonably priced place with a mix of Thai, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese food. Pad Thai is spicy pad thai, but the amount is huge haha
