One of the best sushi spot in town. Japanese owner and the guy knows his stuff maybe 30 40 years experience? Rice quality is on point. The portion is huge. They dont try to fill you up with rice like other places. Price is the lowest in town. Last but not lease quality is amazing. Totally recommend this place because its run by old Japanese guy and hes the main chef unlike other sushi place where they let anyone make your sushi. 5 star all day. Been coming here for years and years never disappointed.

Food was almost a 4 star. But we went late so..... anyways the food was not bad it just could have been better. But again we showed up just before closing and got it as a carryout. Sushi was good. I think weay have just gotten a meal just thrown together at quitting time. But it was still good.

As a Sushi fanatic I have been to many places. I have had Sushi from Florida to CA and about 3 States between. I have been to over 50 different restaurants from nor Cal to Los Angeles and Ooi in Clovis CA is still my #1The Pink Lady and the Hot night (extra spicy) are the best there is. Do yourself a favor and explore the menu.

I always sit at the bar and do the all you can eat. The Best!!!! An excellent value. The cucumber shot glass for my saki is a nice touch. Order “The Spoons”. Bombdiggedy!! Live jazz is great when it comes around. Highly recommend.

Best sushi IMHO! Its a wait for food if you go during their busy hours but thats to be expected when the restaurant tables are full. The employees are all cordial as well. I dont much care for the appetizers but Im in love with their ✨️🍊Orange Blossom Roll🍊✨️ and tbh if Im going to Ooi its to get sushi first and foremost anyways so yeah🤩

My friend wanted to eat here because it was her favorite place, and this was my first time here. The table next to us that sat down ten minutes after we were seated had their order taken first. I waited one hour on my vegetable sushi, which they kindly removed from my bill even though I offered to pay. The sushi roll was 9.00, which I believe is a very high price for five pieces of sushi with no meat on it. I took it to go because my friend was finished with her food. The sushi was good, but the service I had was terrible. There were four different people that came to our table and the server who took our order hardly checked on us. When I asked for sauce she never came back. Fifteen minutes later when I asked about the tempura sauce, they finally told me that they ran out and were making a fresh batch. Why didnt the lady inform me before? At the end of my experience, a nice server named Sandy helped us, but I dont know if driving 45 minutes to get here is even worth it. My favorite place to eat is still Sushi Culture...

Sashimi here isnt fresh, its frozen, and the cuts arent appealing. Every roll has imitation crab in them, I wish they would mention it being imitation crab, false advertising. Customer service is horrible. I tried to give this place a chance, but after tonight, Im not coming back here ever again. $60.25 for 2 people; For all you can eat, not ever worth it. The sushi at Lin Fusion is way better and cheaper. What a rip-off!!!

THEY CALLED THE POLICE and had them show up at my door for a simple error when they failed to charge my card after I gave it to them. They lied and said we refused to pay called 911 for an error they made. We all attempted to pay they just didnt charge us(Full story)V V V V V V V VSo we come order our food everytlhing is going fine until the bill came. 5 people in our party we all had sperate tabs. We went to pay they took our cards. 5mins go by they bring us our cards back assuming we all paid. So we walk out to the parking lot say our goodbyes about to leave. When this little waitress comes running out after us demanding we come back and pay our tabs. After she acuses me of trying to dine and dash we argue for a minute. I decide to go inside and find out what the hell is going on. I figured out that they didnt charge our cards and just gave them back to us with out realizing so i pay come out and go home. Some of our party had already left without knowing about this issue. 10mins later at home chillin when two clovis police officers are in my front yard and are accusing me and my party of attempting steal/dine and dash from ooi japanese restaurant. The fact that someone called the police and had them come to my house. To get the other names and phone numbers from our party so they could go back and pay. The fact that placed a fake 911 call to have the police come to my house over a bill less the 45$ is insane, absolutely DISGUSTING

This was the nastiest sushi I have ever had. We ordered three rolls. None of them had real fish, just a paste made from ground up fish. The texture was absolutely disgusting. One of them was like eating a cheeseburger. We ate exactly one piece of each roll and threw the rest away. 10/10 would rather starve to death than eat anything made here.

$25.99 for ayce was kind of high. Fish quality not bad. Make sure you get all of your sashimi orders in the first round, you only get to order it once. One thing I don’t like about this place is that once they feel that you have enough to eat they will slow you down and make you wait for a long time for your next order. Beside the long wait this place is pretty good.

Ooi is, hands down, the BEST place to get sushi! There are tons of choices for all expectations and its not too rich in taste. Everything is fresh and FANTASTIC. I have been going here at least twice a month for the last two years and I have absolutely no complaints. The staff is great and always welcoming.

The best sushi in the Fresno area. Tons of amazing choices. Great service. Fresh fish and other ingredients.Unless I’m forced to go somewhere else due to time restrictions. I almost always choose Ooi.The service is great and the chefs are talented and make the rolls look like art.The only downside is it may not be as fast of an order as some like. It’s because their speedy chefs still slow down a little bit to make sure what you get is amazing in taste and presentation.

My boyfriend and i have been coming here for a while, and we have no regrets. the waitresses here are incredibly nice, and the food is divine. were vegetarian and have no issue with the options they have and the food we get. weve become regulars and two separate workers have become fond of us, and were really fond of them! the food comes out in good time, the waiters are friendly, and everything is delicious. the vegetarian options are small compared to the whole menu, but theres plenty to choose from and theyre all delicious. everytime we come here its a great time! id reccomended coming here at any chance possible!

Server was friendly and quick. We ordered fried calamari appetizers, & the Mexican sushi roll Main dish salmon teriyaki and chicken teriyaki lunch portions both were good and generous amounts. I compare the food to other places Ive eaten and the calamari is better than most places, it was crispy, flavorful and the cocktail sauce was so good. Not the usual tangy and spicy one most restaurants serve. I didnt care for the salad dressing that came with our salads but overall it would not keep me from coming back. I recommend this place if you want good sushi. The sushi roll was just enough spicy with great flavor.

No longer all you can eat. That was the only thing that made the prices worth it. Not to mention I got a big piece of plastic glove in my sushi. Nearly choked! When I brought it to their attention they said they ran out of funnels to put the cream cheese into the sushi rolls so they used a plastic glove. Well apparently a finger of the plastic glove popped off and ended up in my food. They didnt even comp the meal. Just a verbal (and quiet) apology. I wont be back and I used to be a huge advertiser for them.

Its not cheap but the fiod itself is the best sushi ive personally experienced. They used to have Ana amazing $22 all you can eat but that stopped after covid. I get it. Probably wasnt cost effective either with me going once a week :)One or two time they completely forgot an item or two or three on my order and the cook didnt take ownership of it and yelled at the waitress to handle it. That was the only low moment in 5 years Ive been going.

Update for 3/20/22:They no longer offer the All You Can Eat option. They stopped it when Covid first started, and I was just told by them that they are not going to start it back up again. So for all those reviews that rated it highly specifically because of the great All You Can Eat option, they are no longer accurate.Other than the AYCE option they are decent. As long as they are not too busy the service is really good and the Suishi is also good quality. When they are busy though it can take a very long time to get service. Even when the service is slow though the food quality is still maintained and high.When they are busy the environment inside tends to be very loud, so it is not a place to go sit down for a nice relaxing dinner. If that does not bother you though I would still recommend it based on the food quality.The best thing about Ooi though was the AYCE option, and now that that is gone, to me there is nothing specifically distinguishing about this over other places such as Kijima that offer better quality sushi. If you are going for Nigiri or Sashimi and not going for rolls specifically there are better options. If you are someone though who tends to go for any of the large variety of rolls they offer it is still a good choice.

This place is really good especially the sushi. If their is one reason to go to is their sushi. As a former employee we always make sure to keep the fish frozen and placed great care with the sushi rice along with the crab meat. After all it is hard to make great sushi without a great base.

Delicious sushi served super fast! We dropped in for a quick bite and were really impressed. We sat at the bar, and the chef behind the bar let us order as we were ready, and made some great menu suggestions based on our favorite types of seafood. We were in and out in about half an hour. They are not doing all you can eat sushi. Many restaurants have updated their menus due to COVID, which is understandable; however most are up front let about it by putting the new menu on the website. Sushi is overpriced, so unlimited would bring the average cost per roll down to reasonable levels - my advice take your business elsewhere or wait for the all you can eat to return.

They were so sweet, it was about 15 mins to closing and they were so gracious with allowing me to dine even though they had cleaning up to do. Never felt rushed to hurry up and eat so they could leave. The owner was here today and seems to be very nice as well. It shows in his employees. Menu is huge and the staff is always incredible. Been going here as my main sushi place for a couple years now and the service and quality is always consistent. Only just realized how big the menu actually is when I was wanting something other than the roll I usually get by default. Theyve got all kinds of noodle dishes from udon, yakisoba, to ramen. Or if youre feeling like fried rice and sweet and sour pork, theyve got that too! But my favorite is the huge variety of fresh or tempura sushi rolls to choose from. Takeout is decently quick as well! The main sushi chefs and waiters/waitresses are so kind. During one lunch with a friend, they accidently put suace on a roll that she asked for no sauce - keep in mind, the dish she ordered was not small, so it was a lot of food. We told them it was okay and that shell just eat it anyway, it was no biggie at all. However, our waitress felt bad and the sushi chefs overheard and made her a completely new roll PLUS gave us a different, extra sushi roll to try. Just that gesture alone will keep us coming back because it shows how much they value their customers. All and all, awesome restaurant!

I walked in with my family of 5 yesterday and was told, Try not to order too much; the owner is in the back. Ooi has an all you can eat option and all 5 of us were going to take that option, even though 2 of my party hate sushi and planned on eating very little. I ordered a beer and had little intentions to eat them out of house and home.My aunt walked in first to secure a table and she was greeted with a friendly hello and a dont eat to much. It was all very awkward, but comical in hindsight. The waitress was very nice and I know her distasteful action as a food service employee was given by the owner. I will never return and I have recommended this restaurant many times.I have never been there and had any issues. This definitely blindsided all of us. We left the restaurant without any further incident and took our patronage to the Shanghai restaurant on Dakota and Blackstone.The food might give some intestinal issues, but overall is good sushi. If you go just dont order the all you can eat :/..Haha.

This was one of my favorite all you can eat dinner sushi spots until their service started to fall off. Were regulars and it went from having excellent service to waiting forever for your food, waiting forever for seating because its small, not getting orders at all, being rushed with our checks after having waited forever for our meals. The quality is still good and the price for all you can eat dinner is great and for that reason I gave it 3 stars. If they fix their customer service, train their staff, hired more staff. Then I would be happy to give it a higher rating. Sundays they have a live jazz band which is my favorite day to attend. Make sure you go early otherwise expect to stand for a while.

I have eaten here fairly regularly since I started working in old town 7 years ago.Well, tonight they seated us at 9:15. Their sign and web info says they close at ten. I asked if it was okay, we had just gotten off of work. The waitress said yes. Then took our drink order. About three minutest later she said the kitchen was closed and wed need to leave. Okay, stuff happens.The kicker is while we were leaving they took a new to-go order and made them fresh food right after they had told us the kitchen was closed. Heck. Its 9:33pm right now. They are still technically open for 27 more minutes! !!

This place is THE BEST sushi place in Clovis and Fresno. THE BEST. The employees really care about you, everyone greeted and said farewell to my wife and I when we came and left. Sushi is always on point and occasionally they will give you samples for free. Make sure to ask for some ice cream before you get ready to leave, it’s free.

If you know good sushi, then please save yourself the trip from coming here. Fish quality is subpar, not at all fresh. Although they have a humongous selection, most of their rolls come with spicy mayo and imitation crab. Personally witnessed the owners of the restaurant, argue with guest about taking their food to go. Very badly organized, dont come here if you expect good service or good food.

Usually one of my favorite sushi places, but one of the elder ladies was very rude and snatched a plate from my friend. Apparently they gave her the wrong order and was not supposed to eat the all you can eat. My first order of sushi was missing 2 of the main ingredients (scallop & sushi). I have been coming to this place for years. You used to be able to write on the walls but they since classed it up a bit. The food has always been amazing. Service is great. I recommend bringing some friends and checking out the large AYCE menu. If you just want one quick roll they have amazing options and super friendly staff. The owner is often there working the shop. Its no wonder its my favorite Sushi spot.

First time at ooi for the “all you can eat” and the last! Service was horrible!!! The first round of food came out quickly and fresh. Between the first and second round of food, the server hardly came to check on us to see if we needed anything more. We had to stop the server several times for refills and to place our second round of food. We saw the server being very Intentive to her other tables. When we finally had a chance to order the second round of food, it took well over 20 minutes to get the boiled pot stickers and the fried calamari. Definitely was under staffed!!!

Been here a few times within the last 3 years. Nice small intimate dinning area with plenty of tvs if you decide to avert your attention away from your company. The rolls are awesome. Kids menu is actually a kids menu in the way its not a shrunk down bento box trying to pose as a kids meal. Sushi is prepared with thought an its very noticeable. They have small fridges so the product is constantly rotated and fresh. Great spot if you are a sushi food head.

The combination of ingredients is well thought out, but its too heavy handed and flavors are lost with overbearing application of certain foods. My family and I did not enjoy this place at all! If I could give it negative stars I would! The servers are rude and slow. We didn’t even go during peak hours and they were still slow. At one point our waitress disappeared so we asked a waiter if he could help us and he replied “I guess.”The food is terrible! This establishment clearly focuses on quantity not quality. It’s no wonder why they can offer all you can eat sushi. The sushi is poorly rolled, the fish and scallops are not fresh, the sashimi was still frozen, and the all you can eat menu is basically rolls full of imitation crab. If you are looking for real sushi or fresh food this is not the place. Also, I do not think they should put ketchup on the child’s bento box, unless requested. Not every child likes ketchup. The beef bento was strange. I’m not sure what they were trying to accomplish with all the onions and sauce. Needless to say, we will not be returning or recommending.

Chris is the owner and hes great. Very fun to chat with at the Sushi bar, him and his guys are fun to watch and talk to as the make their delicious rolls! All you can eat Sushi!! The rice is not used a filler during an All You Can Eat dinner. Plenty of meat and other fillings. Everyone I take here has enjoyed it very much. If you go during their rush hours you will wait for your rolls, however, just order them all up front with your 1st order and they will get your 2nd round to you quicker. Love this place.

The other 3 people I was with ordered the all you can eat sushi and were very happy with it. They said it was delicious, it was all brought out in a timely manner and they were very full. I had a bit of a different experience. I am on a special allergy diet right now so I cant have gluten. I realized that I wouldnt have many choices, but I came prepared with a small bottle of tamari (gluten free soy sauce) and figured I could order some fried rice or meat and have them leave the soy sauce off and I would add my own. No such luck. They said they couldnt make me an order of fried rice, its already made. And all of the meat was already marinated. My only choices were steamed rice or plain sashimi. I even asked if I could have a piece of the plain cooked salmon that was on top of one of the sushi rolls. They said no. I get that special requests are annoying to restaurant kitchens, but not to make a single accommodation? I ended up eating a bowl of rice with my tamari and spicy mayo. It wasnt my choice to go there, but I didnt expect it to be that hard.

I came here for dinner to try out the sushi rolls.The fish was Fresh and good but the sushi sauce had an overwhelming taste of mayonnaise. The terrayaki sauce also had little flavor and was very light in texture. Wouldve been good if the sauces where prepared better.

My husband and I usually go to Ooi for our sushi fix. The service is never good, but it didn’t really bother us because they had good sushi. It wasn’t until I had out of town relatives visiting that we went and received the worst service ever! We were a group of 11 adults and 5 kids. We got there at 8:45pm on a Saturday and their hours for dinner online was posted til10pm. We arrived and instead of just telling us that they were closing and not accepting any orders, they seated us (because they probably wanted the extra $185 tab) and it wasn’t until we ordered out first order from their all you can eat menu that the waitress told us they were closing at 9:30 and last call is at 9pm. Half the items we ordered from the kitchen was not available because “they were closing”! When asked the waitress simply said, “we are closing early because we were slow so we don’t have fried rice”. I told the waitress we thought they closed at 10pm, but she was positive that they closed at 9:30pm and for us to “never trust online hours, only trust their posted hours at the door”. While sitting there arguing with the waitress, more customers walk in and they all were turned away! We even heard two guys say they thought the restaurant closed at 10pm!!So, when we left the restaurant, I checked their hours posted out the door and indeed, I was right! Ooi’s dinner hour ends at 10PM!!! I am never going back again. We paid full price for their all you can eat and didn’t even receive the all you can eat food. Service was terrible and the waitress kept giving us the sign to hurry up and go.They lost a long time customer. My husband and I have been going there since the first opened back when we were in college and when Cesar was still the waiter.

Though the food was great, service was terrible. From sitting down until signing the check was over 2.5 hours. It took over an hour to clear our plates, even with trying to flag down a waiter. After over over an hour of waiting for service we had 2 children crying. We were just short of begging the servers to bring us our check an hour later. I finally had to walk into the kitchen to pay for dinner after our waitress walked past our table for the 5th time without acknowledging us. Customers around us were angry due to our crying children (and I dont blame them). The tables adjacent to us were all seated after us and cleared long before we even had our drinks refilled. I dont know what caused us to be overlooked for over 2.5 hours with 2 screaming kids. We would have loved to save everyone from that annoyance.

By this time the family that was seated about 30 minutes after us were all well into their meals. When I ordered the kids meal I also ordered 2rolls one was the chefs special ( crabmeat roll with tuna on top) no creativity at all that was really bad I didnt eat it....After waiting for chopsticks or a fork and some wasabi. WE Left the place and no one even noticed.Been here before didnt have this problem but this is the last time I will be going there. Management needs to be there watching the place or the employees that are there are going to pick and choose their customers.

After years of coming here, it’s time to say goodbye. Food quality has dropped and service is terrible. If you’re coming for AYCE, be prepared to get ignored and made to wait long.It’s been a rollercoaster in terms of service. This last visit was the last straw. They dont tip, maybe its true, maybe not but maybe the reason they dont tip is because you dont refill our drinks, you dont ask if we would like to order anything else or you dont ask if everything is okay. You just assume we are not going to tip so you treat us like crap. You drop off our food to our table and you walk away without a word or revisit to make sure we are doing okay. Well i used to manage a sushi restaurant myself here in the clovis area so believe me i know what good and bad service looks like. Their sushi is the best! Their rainbow roll is excellent. They have many choices of sushi including some interesting and delicious creations. Try the football or avocado bomb! Their entrées are good as well, like the teriyaki lunch boats. Great apps too...pot stickers, tempura vegetables, and more. They even have an all you can eat menu!

Today was a bento box that was supposed to have tempura and a California roll. It had neither and instead came with pot stickers. She tried to get us to get us to take the box anyway and add a Cali roll to our order. Well, you can see how this works in their favor. Waiting for the day when the customer actually gets what they want the first time around, no arguments. Or maybe today is the final visit.
