Fantastic deal. One of the best value meals in CA. I had the beef soup and fries. Killer portions. If I were a student Id eat here every day. Drinks are great too.

The food portions are insane for what you pay. I got the Pork Belly Fried Rice for only $8! I ate half of it and felt super full. You definitely can get 2 meals out of this. Excited to try more things from their menu!

Affordable but nothing to write home about. The staff could use more training or supervision. They were nice but had no sense of urgency. The line was almost out the door and the line waiting for food was about the same. The staff we’re having fun and joking with each other but it was causing lots of mistakes in ordering. The kimchi rice was ok but my order of Thai fries ( think that’s what it was called) was disappointing. The fries were bland and reminded me of what is served in a high school cafeteria. They need to change brand.

The food was amazing and at a very reasonable price. We ordered the pork belly fried rice, beef chow fun, a lychee shush, and a jasmine milk tea boba. Will definitely come back again soon!!! I recommend to bring a jacket because the restaurant is freezing cold!

The best part about this place is it is open late. Parking is extremely Limited. I had the honey walnut shrimp. Not that good. Shrimp was way overcooked and over coated. There were no walnuts anywhere to be found. The broccoli was not good. The rice was good. My cup of water was good.

You get what pay for, not so Asian authentic, especially if you grow up in Asia you’ll taste difference, but still nice considering another Asian food in Davis are mad expensive, my service was pretty quick, ordered fried rice and came in less than 10 minutes, the place looks clean but I feel the table surface and the seat is a little bit sticky.

This place is a gem. Its like a hole in the wall. Cheapest place to eat in Davis. Its cheap but also excellent value for the food. The most expensive item is $9.50. the Thai tea is only $2.50 elsewhere it would have been $5.50. the Singaporean chow fun definitely has the curry and kick in it. The pork belly sliders were a good half inch thick plus you get 3 for $5. Looking forward to trying the rest of the items.

So to start, the food here, when made right, is incredible. The big problem I have here is your experience completely revolves around whether the women or men are working. Now the genders are irrelevant. Its just who all happens to be there and theyre all the same gender so it should be easy for the establishment, if they read this, to find the problem people. For whatever reason when the women are working, Ive never ever had an order taken down right. On top of that once its been corrected it still comes out wrong. And its not just a one time thing. Ive been here 7 times. The first time was when the two guys were working. Everything was incredible and made right the first time. Everytime the men have made the food same Ive had the same exact experience. But every single time the women are there my order was taken wrong and made wrong. So far theyve been there 3 of the 7 times. The last, it took them 3 attempts to get the food right and after the 3rd time I just said screw it and left with what I had. Still made wrong. I cant risk driving a town over to hope the right people are working so it might be a little while before I try again. If things are better with those employees at that point I can change this to better represent the food. Unfortunately a couple of people just ruin the experience as a whole.Last note... The person who ordered after me had the same exact problem with her meal...

I have no idea why people like to say this place is bad, it’s amazing! I always order the chicken potstickers, they are delicious and very filling! 8 of them for around $4! And their boba is delicious for being the cheapest in town and also powder! The cooks deserve tips!! Please tip them, they make amazing food and this is the best place in town to get something at a reasonable price! The kimchi rice is to die for, as well as the crab wontons! The portions are pretty big too! Love the girl in the front she always slays with her makeup and nails! Love the food here and it’s always clean!

Restaurant both stank and was empty - this shouldve been a warning sign, but I ordered hoping to satisfy my chow fun craving. Was disappointed. The noodles were grainy, the pork tough, the carrots uncooked. The sauce smelled faintly putrid, like rotten garlic. Did not finish the meal and threw it away, unfortunately. The reviews and authentic menu were betraying to the reality of what was served. I will not be coming back.

This place treats their most loyal customers like garbage and their service (and food) quality collapses when they are even remotely busy. Their food may be okay and even good when the place is deserted, but they still don’t know how to handle orders when busy or late at night, and they refuse to retire their hours to normal even now. Also, their staff used to be a lot nicer, whereas now they use even slight misunderstandings as an excuse to mistreat customers. It’s a shame too because I was their most loyal customer, especially during the height of the pandemic. Honestly, boycott the place until they agree to change their ways.

The food is tasty, and Open Rice is very affordable. You get lots of bang for your buck, and they have the most inexpensive boba drinks around.The only negative aspects: the AC is never on, and the last time I went, an employee wasnt wearing a mask properly. Otherwise, Id give them a higher ranking. One other thing: some food can be spicy without warning. I like it, but my kids have found it a little too much. Still, if youre looking for tasty food without spending a lot, this is the place to go.

I have been searching for the perfect Taro milk snow for the longest time and I finally found it here! And they offer a stamp system where after you get eight bobas, you get the next one free! Their food is good too. I love their little slider sandwiches with cucumber inside. Their prices are so affordable, perfect for a college town, especially when they have discount nights where some menu items go down to one or two dollars!

Good eats at a relatively affordable price. This is my first time here and only tried the Pork Belly Fried Rice. It was rich in flavor, generous in proportion, and, simply put, delicious. The only criticism is I wish there was more pork belly or at least some larger cut portions with the crispy goodness still on it

There are usually good specials here for appetizers / spring rolls and so on. Also, you can get 2 beers for cheap and they are usually okay. Dont expect top level craft beer, but e.g. track 7 and it her solid local beer. The main food options here are just OK, but spring rolls and beer aint bad.

The orange chicken and popcorn chicken are terrible, even for the special yesterday ($5 and $3.50 respectively) I would say it was not worth it at all. The orange chicken is considerably worse than any other Ive tried including frozen entrees. The boba is not bad and is pretty cheap though.

One thing I must get across is that their rice plates are amazing. I recommend getting the extra fried egg for $1. They have generous serving sizes for the rice plates, and I think the pork belly rice is one the best dishes they have. Other notable items are the orange chicken, walnut shrimp. Also serve boba here. Food comes pretty quick. Not too much seating but can fit max of 5-6 people for biggest tables.

This is an excellent sitdown restaurant with hearty portions for the price you pay. They offer daily specials including bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts, egg rolls, potstickers, fried rice dishes, chowmein options, boba tea, etc. Plus, they currently have the best beer special in town: Two pints for $5.Highly recommended to frugal college students.

Fantastic place that is open late, they serve affordable boba, amazingly cheap drinks and tastey food. A tip top personal favorite for downtown Davis that wont upset your wallet or break the bank. Wonderful selection on brews, sometimes offer a 2 for 5 cash deal to seal the deal. Sweet potato fries and dumplings are delectable. Do bring cash as they offer discounts. Right across from Davis beer shoppe and wunderbar so a hotspot on popular nights. Would recommend, fast, polite service and clean, fresh environment.

Popcorn chicken engulfed in salt was overbearing. Crab cheese wontons had a flavor that makes me think they were expired. Staff was friendly enough but was fighting the noise of the crowd (around five people when I visited) by turning up the volume of interior sounds. Was not a pleasant experience. Staff did make every effort to maintain cleanliness of dining area but restrooms were disgusting- Graffiti, paper, other waste.

The food took over 30 mins to be served.I ordered pork belly fried rice and Sacha noodles.. I dont think the cashier heard me right, and they asked me if I wanted the entree and what type of protein for the Sacha... since I didnt know that meant something other than the noodles, I didnt think much of it.. they served me white rice with the Sacha veggies and tofu.The fried rice was also pretty dry even though I asked for extra sauce- all the sauces was at the bottom which was was weird.Had the food taken less time, I would have brought it up to the counter... (1) I ordered Ork fried rice and Remix IPA beer for about 11 USD. (2) The fried rice was served in huge serving, but TERRIBLE. It was a mix of very unlikely combinations such as sweet ketchup on rice with pineapple, etc. I even saw someone eating 2 huge servings of those fried rice and was completely perplexed as how he could eat those. The remix IPA was good and I enjoyed it. (3) The place was very hot when I was there. Hotter than the outside on a summer evening at Davis. (4) Staff were usual.

The food was good and plentiful, the staff was friendly and helpful. Its true that it has a decor somewhere between mcdonalds and chipotle, though.I went on an afternoon, it wasnt particularly busy and what other customers I saw were mostly cute UCD students; so not exactly a drawback. There was no noise to speak of.I highly recommend the Rice Kitchen to anyone. Entrees tend to be about 6.50 for a more than full plate. I couldnt place a lot of the sauces, making me think they might be made on-site.

The food is inexpensive, decent and abundant, but I have to say that the atmosphere (or lack of it) is a major issue for me. The industrial shopfitting, coupled with a predominantly young and excited customer base lends itself to one of the noisiest eating places in Davis. I frequently have trouble hearing any table companions, and on a busy night, I can barely even hear myself think.Shame, because the food really is excellent value.

Ive ordered a couple dishes here so far and havent been particularly impressed. The orange chicken was deep fried (not Thai-style) and the sauce was less than delicious. The Mongolian beef was cooked correctly (nice job on the onions) but the sauce had too much soy and not enough hoisin - it tasted salty.My friend had gyozas and those looked tasty though, so maybe I should keep trying.

The food is not bad, and it’s one of the only places opened late. From a customer service standpoint, it’s terrible. Absolutely terrible. In the restaurant industry service everything. And, I just wanted to update after getting my food, it took 35 min and 2 of my items were cold. Ordered a vegetarian dish; tofu eggplant (Im vegetarian). After I started eating, I noticed that there were pork strips in my dish. When I informed the people that worked there, they came up with an elaborate tale that this was vegetarian fake meat. This was clearly meat and had the taste and consistency of meat. Open Rice Kitchen (or ORK as my friends and I call it) is one of my favorite places to eat in Davis. They dont have a huge menu selection, but they do have a good variety of appetizers, noodles and fried rice.My personal favorite is the classic fried rice which, like most of their dishes, comes with your choice of meat, tofu, or vegetables.In addition to their respectably prices food, they have a great selection of flavored tea drinks with boba. All in all it is a nice middle ground between cheap prices and high quality.

Most Davis students would agree that the food isnt the best, but they often come for the variety of tea. The teas are the almost the biggest (almost because SnoCrave has bigger cups) and cheapest you can get in Davis. Beware, they give very little boba/tapioca. The food is cheap; theres a lot of rice and noodle options. They have a lot of specials on appetizers and teas. I come here ALL the time because this is the only restaurant downtown that gives free Wifi and access to outlets (given you buy at least a tea). Other places in Downtown Davis either have bad Wifi (Peets, Panera), are crowded and small (Temple Coffee), or make you pay every two hours (Mishkas).

Open Rice is perfect drunk food after a night out Downtown. The kimchee fried rice or stir-fried noodles are really greasy and perfect for helping absorb alcohol.Otherwise, I basically only come here when they have discounts, specials, or to support a student group. The boba tastes like powder and most of the food is a little too greasy. The food always takes a while to come out too. Its nice that they have a food truck style Asian place in Davis though!
