Origami is an authentically delicious spot for a quick lunch. The service is quick and concise and will get you back to work on time from your lunch break. The time you order to the time you get your meal is surprisingly short for all the business they receive. I didnt order off their standard menu, but rather had a special mushroom ramen that had three different types of mushrooms, bonito flakes and some seasonal root vegetables. To say it was an umami bomb would be an understatement. This dish transported me from the forest to the ocean with every bite. The noodles were perfectly cooked for slurping everything up. I also had a side of their pork belly that was very good too. All in all, Id go back for sure. Apologies for not taking a picture before I started eating, but it was so fragrant that I was driven to dig in without hesitation.

Just found this place while visiting Sacramento. This is a great family friendly place with a relaxed atmosphere. It family owned and I met Scott, one of the owners. I had one of their rice bowl which was excellent. I chose having all the vegetable options and the pork belly which was crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. Dar my sister order the chicken sandwich which she liked a lot and was a large portion as well as my rice bowl. I will definitely come back for more. There is a small parking lot in back or you can park on the street. Highly recommended for the food and service.

Most overpriced place Ive been to in Sacramento. Honestly the energy was really off when I walked in. It was like I walked into a room of amazing people who are extremely unappreciated and underpaid. Quality of the food; ramen was 8/10 but there was LITERALLY less noodles than you get from a pack of Top Ramen, meat was delicious. Cucumber salad and poki were both relatively horrible. I wont go back unless I see their prices lowered or someone posts a bigger portion of noodles. When you order Ramen the bowl should be FULL of noodles with a bunch of goodness on top.... and ask me how I want my egg. Staff was super nice and customer service is a 9/10.

Best fried chicken in town!!!!! This place is hidden gem! The Ramen choices are all fantastic. My wife and I love this place we here at least twice a month! The staff is really nice and the atmosphere is really inviting. This is a great place to bring friends or family. They also do great takeout.

This is the best Asian grill Ive ever had the pleasure of enjoying. The pork belly is unreal, Ive never had anything close to that level. The fried chicken is also one of a kind and uncomparable to any fried chicken Ive ever had, Ive never had better Asian fried chicken come to think of it. The owners are both chefs and really take pride in their work, it certainly shows in their food as well as the atmosphere of the restaurant. I met one of the owners named Paul and he is equally kind as he is skilled with food. The eatery is in a groovy little neighborhood near Sacramento state which is another nice aspect. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try, youll be very happy you did!

I was searching for a ramen place by the east sac after doing our clueddupp activity and was happy to find this place. The vegan miso broth is delicious. The noodles are fresh and tender. The serving size is big and the 63 egg is awesome. I also love the chicken, the breading is a little bit salty but it blends to the other spices and lemon zest which makes it delicious. I will surely come back here and will try the banh mi and rice bowl

Updated review - was pleased to see they served eat-in orders in actual dishes and not to-go containers (+1 star). The Banh Mi still a great menu item, ordered with their protein special (miso salmon). The ramen with pork belly also a great combo. The broth is really tasty and savory, and the vegetables are really fresh. Their pork belly is probably their best protein choice. The staff was very nice and made sure we had everything we wanted from extra napkins to glasses of water. Will definitely come back to try their poke and happy hour menu.Very nice staff, good for a quick bite. Ordered the Banh Mi with pork belly, Mixed Green salad with tri-rip added avocado & soft boiled egg, and the Fried Chicken (appetizer menu but could be an entree as its half a chicken). The Banh Mi was good with the pork belly, I felt like it was missing jalapeno. The salad was great, the trip tip wasnt as tasty as the pork belly. The Fried Chicken was a lot of food for an appetizer and it was surprisingly sweet, I believe there may have been honey in the seasoning? Overall a good meal, however it did bug us that we ordered to eat there, and our food was served in to-go boxes, and noticed all orders were served in to-go boxes, just seemed wasteful.

The chefs counter dinner experience was great. Since its limited to a maximum of 6 people you get a lot of attention from the chefs. Every course that we had was fantastic and the chefs really made sure we understood what we were eating and made is feel very warm and welcome. While the fact that it takes place in their day casual restaurant may be a turn off for some we really didnt mind it. Even with as many people as we coming and going we never felt like we were getting distracted and could really focus on the many courses that were placed before us. The fact that its a casual establishment also helps that you dont need to necessarily dress up much which really helps with comfort.Price wise its definitely up there, but there arent very many chef Counter experiences in Sacramento and none that really give you the sort of personal attention that we received. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique dining experience.

If you want outstanding food with complex, delicious flavors, this if your place! I had the ramen with shoyu pork broth and grilled chicken. The first sip of the broth was surprising and demanded another! The broth was slightly smokey, full of umami, a perfect compliment to the succulent chicken, with plenty of veggies and the right amount of noodles, the bowl was more than I could eat at one meal (yaaay lunch tomorrow!) My husband had the bahn mi with pork belly and devoured it! He asked for an extra serving of the aioli on the side because it was so tasty. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. You can watch the cooks do their cooking thing and if you need service its quickly and happily offered. I want to eat here once a month at least. The food is simply delicious!!

My first experience with this place wasnt very good. But I decided to give them another shot and havent stopped visiting them since. Talk about more than making up for their boo-boo.The food at this place is incredible. The bowls are out of this world with all the veggie sets and sauces. Im not huge on meat. But their pork belly, I get in my bowl every single time. Thats how good it is 🤣Even all the little aspects of their dishes. The dressing for the salads, sauces. Down to something as simple as rice, that they cook perfectly every single time!I really hope this place is here to stay. One of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. I would seriously cry if I couldnt get my Sunomono and pork belly rice bowl 😭

Such a comfy spot in East Sac. Parking is not the easiest but the food & service is well worth it. Order at the counter, get a number & take a seat. Food is served up pretty quick. Girls night dinner for two. We shared nigori sake, poke salad, somen noodle salad & rice bowl w/veggies, spicy sauce & pork belly. OMG! The pork belly is delish. Driving back from the mountains we were searching for a dinner in Sac that contained fresh veggies and meaty bits. Origami Grill did not disappoint. Vibe is easygoing, w order at the counter- and build your ramen or rice bowl. They had sake, Sapporo or tea. Food was excellent, lots of high quality additions to our bowls. Just an observation though, it seems like Origami has quite the bro-vibe, not a single female seems to be working there, at least not while we were dining. I wont subtract ⭐✨ just for this, just curious why its run by a team of dudes. Good food, guys!

I got a ramen bowl, it was about $27 dollars plus tip. Very worth the money in my opinion, the place is very neat and clean, with a relaxing atmosphere. The food came out fast and was delicious. No complaints. I did park a few businesses down, near the CVS just FYI, I think that was a good choice

Fun place in East Sac. My husband and I popped in for lunch after hearing everyone chat about what a tasty place this is. Erik ordered the fried chicken and it was cooked amazing! Loaded with a flavor of orange and rosemary. Super extra crispy on the outside. I ordered a ramen bowel with chicken as the protein option and the flavors were to die for! The 63 degree egg is epic. I’m giving this 4 stars only because it took forever for the chicken to come out and the server bought my ramen bowl out about 15 mins before the fried chicken. So I think they need to work on the timing of the chicken more. He did offer my husband a cucumber salad and offered us a refill of the amazing ice tea to make up for it. We will be going back soon!

So I actually came here to origami grill because we were chaperoning a friend on a tinder date but wow am I glad we came!Everything is super fresh and I love that you can see the kitchen. The place is nice and casual. The decor is modern and the food is superbly instagrammable.I got the salad with the glazed pork belly which was delish! The sunomono paired super well with the fatty pork belly too. We also got the poke and after adding some chili oil which is available in their condiment bar, it was crunchy and salty and slightly spicy, yum! I am definitely going to be back here to try the other things.DAIRY ALLERGEN NOTES: this place was super nice and friendly about my allergy and they dont use dairy in anything except the fried chicken batter. Which was sad since it looked and smelled soooo good. This gets an a plus for my allergy needs!

My partner and I love ramen but neither of us were a fan of their Americanized-ramen. My partner and I ordered the pork and veggie ramen. The broth was a no go. It was so smoky that my partner felt like it tasted like the broth was burnt. I found it difficult to finish. And although ramen is supposed to be a comfort dish there were far too many vegetables and broccoli. (Please keep broccoli out of ramen.) The noodles were likely handmade but the texture and irregular shaped pieces weren’t great either.The only part we liked was the pork. The pork pieces were delicious but less for ramen and more for rice as it was far too chunky and hard to eat.The staff was attentive though.If you’re looking for an interesting experience with ramen, come here. But if you want good ramen, try elsewhere.

The food was not bad. But if you are looking for a more authentic taste, this isnt your place. It was packed the evening I was there and seems very popular with Sacramentos Caucasian population. I selected the banh mi with a side of bok choy and a lemonade. The cost was about $20. The restaurant was clean and a little crowded with tables close to each other. There was available outdoor seating but that seemed less popular.

The food here is excellent. Its a little bit pricey, but the quality of the ingredients is good, and the food is always fresh. There were a couple of times during covid that they got really backed up with pickup orders, but the last time I was there I didnt have that issue. They have a great variety of menu items that you can easily customize, as well as specials on the weekends. Theres something for everyone here!

I stopped by this place because it was convenient. But I have to say this food is extremely good!!! All the wasted years of not knowing about this place! Homemade noodles and sauces. Crispy exterior pork belly with tender interior. Everything is so flavorful and melds together so well. Extremely excellent customer service too. Hands-down the best glazed pork belly Ive had in the Sacramento Area. Ive been to many restaurants that offer pork belly that has a not-so-good texture: grey, too wiggly or burnt to a crisp; this place knows what they are doing, the meat is tender and a lovely caramelized dark-golden-brown color. Ive caught myself buying extra so I can use on other dishes the next day.My go-to favorite: Cold Noodle Salad with avocado and glazed pork belly, and a side of sunomono cucumber. Theres enough to feed two, or enough to stuff one.

Love, LOVE, the food, but do not love being mansplained to by the staff. My girlfriend and I took our kids (eldest one 6 and youngest one 2, so yeah they’re young) here for lunch today and one of the staff came to our table and took the cup coasters (cheap, wooden, practically Melissa and Doug toys) away from our kids because they were playing with them. If either of our husbands had been there with us, i highly doubt this would have happened. If you see a parent trying to connect with another adult, possibly even complete a full cohesive thought before being interrupted, and just maybe eat something beyond the goldfish at the bottom of their kid’s backpack, you say, how can I help you love, you do not take away their kid’s toys and say enjoy your meal now.

The Pork Belly is out of control, amazing.. the rice bowl, the veggies.. everything is highest quality, fresh as can be, and all put together in the cleanest hippest environment imaginable. parking is not easy for quick pick ups, but their take out service is on point. Finally, as not only a local Allergist/Immunologist, but an unfortunate sufferer from Celiac Disease; they have gluten free options and adhere to strict protocol which is delightful to see... Don’t bother ordering ahead. There’s an online service charge and they won’t start making your order until after you arrive. Totally pointless to have an online ordering option if they’re unwilling to look at the orders.Ordered early in the day for a 4:50pm pick up. I went with high hopes seeing how a lot of people were talking highly about this place but after getting there I had the Vietnamese sandwich and it was underwhelming. There is way too thick of pieces of meat to enjoy the sandwich and its entirety. The vinegar was drenched in everything, making the acid a lot to take in and typically Im used to a sweeter taste on those sandwiches. So basically it was just an overwhelming salty vinegar sandwich that at the end of the day ended up leaving the top of my mouth scarred because of the hardness of the bread as well.

Great ambiance, service and food. This place has indoors and covered outdoor seating. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and the server was knowledgeable about the menu items and helped me make a decision. I ordered a rice bowl with brown rice veggies and the chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were off the hook. The brown rice and veggies were cooked perfectly. The owner heard me ask about the pork belly so he brought a piece of pork belly to the table for me to try. Nice personal touch. I can’t wait to go back to try to poke bowl, the pork belly and the banh mi sandwich. I will definitely need to have the chicken again.

Menu is on a chalk board on a wall. Difficult to understand what the prices are......All protein items have a price but then you have vegetables and your choice of rice, ramen or a salad to which the vegetables and protein are added. No prices on those. I ordered salmon and ramen with a vegetable broth. Vegetables were added. The carrots and squash needed to be cut smaller as well as the huge six inch long bok Choy. No way to cut the bok Choy in smaller pieces. Messy to eat.

I’ve been eating here since it open 2018 - it’s a fantastic place to eat. Everything is organic and locally grown. Lots of flavors in each dish. The food is clean and presented well. The service has always been good (even when busy). The food has been consistently great over the years. Often you will see the owner cooking in the back and running the joint. Holy fried chicken, Batman! It felt a bit off getting fried chicken from an Asian fusion place, but it was probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Poke was good too although my partner found it too spicy (togarashi perhaps). Although they don’t make the crème puffs, that was a nice desert treat. This place is fantastic. Ive been here on two occasions.The first time was for a casual dinner night with my wife and a couple of friends. We ordered the Fried Chicken, Poke, Ramen and Banh Mi and shared it all family style. All four meal items were amazing. My favorite was the Fried Chicken... it has a maple flavored breading that was irresistible. My wife really liked the Ramen.The second time we visited, we tried the Chefs Counter Experience. At first, I was a little skeptical about the price, however, after experiencing this fine dining experience, I would describe it as being on par with The Kitchen. It was a phenomenal 13-course dinner which included superior service, exquisite food presentation, and a personal touch from the owners/chefs. We were blown away with how good the food, service, and presentation was and we look forward to doing it again!

Flavorful and tender.This place worked out well for us because we had our puppy join us on the trip. Their outside patio whats perfect for the 5 of us. I also like how they have fruits and lime mixed into their cold water dispenser. It adds that nice flavor to a free glass of water. They also have bottled drinks such as Coca-Cola and I went with the root beer which was pretty good. Overall I recommend this place because its simple and the food is absolutely delicious. Go ahead and give this place a try and I promise you youll be really impressed. If we are in the area again, for sure well be stopping by.Parking is sort of tight here. If youre lucky youll find something down the neighborhood street, across on the main Folsom Blvd or down the street at the CVS Pharmacy. Went here as a group late Saturday night and my only negative comment is that it can get noisy, but they mitigate that with ample table spacing. Easiest five stars Ive ever posted.The best thing about Origami is there are two menus. If youre looking for fast casual, they have a walk up register and a simple menu. Think Five Guys does ramen. A member of our group recommended the noodles which are $10 as of this review, and which Ill be trying when I go back. For this trip, we sat down for the Chefs counter service and it was quite the fanciful affair. Somewhere around nine courses of family style plates that were slightly larger than tapas. I would call it too much food, but we started with an extra appetizer of fried chicken. I do recommend the chicken, I do not recommend getting it with the Chefs counter, its just too much. I assume the dishes rotate to whatever the chef feels like making that night, so Ill only mention my favorites to give you an idea of what to expect. There was a cauliflower ravioli (the chef called it some other fancy Italian name, but it was cheese and cauliflower in pasta and oh so delicious), a sous vide quail, crispy octopus tentacle, pasta with clams (that was more clams than pasta), and the best was this lamb chop that was the perfect shade of pink and soft and exploded with flavor. I got two because one of our group doesnt like lamb, score! We nursed the multiple desert plates (a haze of chocolate, fruit, and spirals of sugar) with a couple saki and shut the place down. I finally had the opportunity to try Origami this past week, and it was fine. We had the banh mi with pork belly and the ramen, also with pork belly, pork broth, and all of the veggies for that day, and the fried chicken.The banh mi did not have nearly enough pickled veggies to offset the pork belly so we found it to be too rich. In particular, it seemed to lack jalepeno and cilantro. Similar issue with the balance in the ramen.The chicken is pretty substantial, and it comes with some maple syrup sauce, which is pretty good. I wouldve loved to have more of that sauce.All in all Origami is worth a try. Id go back, just for the fried chicken, maybe a banh mi with chicken and pickles on the side.
