Osakaya Restaurant in San Francisco

The food here is... on par for Japantown... Pretty mid. The squid tempura and mixed tempura are really flavorless. The mixed tempura got soggy pretty fast like less than 15 minutes. The beef teriyaki is surprisingly ok and perfectly medium rare despite how thin it is. The teriyaki sauce though is pretty sweet but you can scrape it off. Service is good but the food is passable.

Inside Japantowns amazing mall, this was our choice for dinner. Tried their curry with chicken karaage, gyoza, appetizer, and ramen. All was very good! Love the atmosphere as well.

Food is quite good, but the waitress lashed out, when one of us asked for a new pair of cheap chopsticks.Quite expensive, $20 for tempura shrimps or ramen.Also the staff doesnt seem Japanese which may or may not be okay, Im not sure.

Nice staff the time I went here there was not wait time. Staff was nice when we sent back an order because of a mix up. The seats are also hard so make sure you don’t jump on to them.My group mainly got bento boxes:Miso Soup : 6/10 something tastes off about it.California Rolls : 7.5/10 nothing special but their are definitely better options out there.Mixed Tempura : 6/10 Shrimp could have been better.Chicken Katsu : 7/10 the katsu sauce was too tangy compared to others.Rice : 6.5/10 tasted staleSaba Fish : 6/10 was a little burnt.Curry : 7/10Apple Juice : 7/10Overall if other places are full this is somewhat budget friendly. Spending no more then ~20$ per person.I would give this place a 6/10.!!! SERVICE CHARGE IS ALREDY INCLUDED!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS -*My mother and I got food poisoning, and we didn’t even get raw fish because we had a feeling*This place will charge you 18% AFTER charging it on the bill. Literally taking MORE money. I was SHOCKED when I saw my bank statement.I try to give hole-in-wall restaurants a chance but this, unfortunately, is NOT one of those places that end up surprisingly good. The establishment smells like dishwater and pee. The staff aren’t friendly and extremely rude. The food is terrible quality and extremely overpriced. AND STAY AWAY FROM THEIR BEEF SKEWERS, they are RAW in the middle and you’ll be chewing forever.People at other tables were gawking at their bill after getting very little food. I hope this place gets shut down for over charging people and making them sick.Very unfortunate as Japantown has been losing good places to eat. I’m all for supporting and tipping big when service and food is at least edible, but that is not the case here. Save yourself some time, money, and medical bills by eating literally anywhere else.

Nothing super special, just another Japanese restaurant in Japantown. The prices are slightly more affordable here. Lines dont seem to get quite too long, but it takes quite some time to get the attention of the servers. Would only recommend this spot if everywhere else is packed.

Anyone who have been to Japan and try the street restaurant there will feel familiar here.they serves authe tic Japanese food. If you like combi deal this place has lunch special $13.95 2 dishes plus soup. The food come quickly and the staff very friendly. The yakiniku was just right not too sweet and grilled to perfection.The katsu fried perfectly and crispy and the sauce was superb. Mushroom stuffy was delicious.

I dont know much about Japanese food but my husband and I love the food we had here! I had ramen for the first time at Oklahoma and it suck so much, I only ate one bite. Rather had cup noodle. The ramen here was great! I order the Osakaya Ramen spicy and it was perfect spice. Not too spicy and it was spicy tasteful instead of spicy hot. The meat was good, the spicy sausage was good, the soft boil egg was good. The one my husband got was hearty and creamy.The sushi and sashimi was great as well. Cant wait to come back here to eat their food.

Honestly not the best food but for the price range it was about right. The server was super nice and the food came out fast.The place is pretty dark and dreary but its pretty Japanese style in my opinion. So dont complain about that.

The staff are all friendly, food is really good and if you want take out for lunch they will make it for you timely.Look for Pay, she is the best there. 😁
