Love this place! I used to work at ISushi year ago and found this place on a lunch break. Ive been driving back from North Park and Point Loma ever since. Best salt and pepper wings in town for sure, and everything else Ive had had been amazing as well. No mystery meat, no chewy pieces. All quality. The staff is always super friendly, and remember you as well.

Went here with my family today! Everything tasted really good, my favorite was the orange chicken. The only thing that caught us off guard was the size of the food, since we werent expecting it to be so big, but theres always boxes for that! :) Just be careful if youre eating by yourself, try not to order too much. Service was great and surprisingly quick!

I have been going to this place since 2000 when I was a college student at Southwestern college. One of my friends invited me here to lunch and I fell in love with there food. I would always order Salted Pepper Chicken Wings. I still continue to visit this place every year since I now live in Oregon and nobody has amazing wings like them. It’s one of the things I miss so much from this place. The Sesame Chicken is really good and I order that for my son since he doesn’t eat anything spicy. If you are ever near by I recommend you try this place out and you will love the food.

This was the worst Chinese food Ive had in a long time. While the portions were indeed generous, it was WAY overpriced for what it was. I was fine with it being mostly veggies with a few bits of meat, but $17.95 is just too much to pay, especially with it having no flavor on top of that. Also ordered ribs, also at $17.95, but only 2 of the 4 ribs were fresh, the other 2 were old, tough and dry. Why restaurants think customers dont notice these things is beyond me!

I paid almost $70 for 3 take outs. They jacked up the price really good. Its so expensive. The food has smell, it seems theyve cooked it in an old greasy oil. My car smelled so bad when I got home. Im not sure if theyre recycling old cooking oil thats causing the smell. But if you like expensive Chinese food, this is the place 👍.

However, ordering three entrees and three appetizers resulted in a tremendously expensive bill. Although we liked it were probably not going to be back. Couldnt afford it to...!

I ordered fried rice & salt and pepper chicken.What I dont understand is how come these foods can be ready at 4 minutes after I ordered. I tried and noticed that fried rice is so dried. We stopped here today right as it opened. So glad we did . We had Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken and the soft noodle lunch specials and fried cheese wontons ! The sweet and sour chicken was so crunchy and fresh tasting! My very picky 10 year old son said this was the best ( he had the noddles ) ! The people working were so attentive and nice. Restaurant was clean. Wish we lived closer we would be here all the time!

Tried this restaurant for lunch, while doing laundry, another door down, today (Feb14, 2023), at about 11:30am. The best part of the visit was the salted pepper chicken. It comes with fried rice and a soup of your choice.Please keep in mind--The place was not busy. I came alone, and there was only one other gentleman sitting at another table. So, there were no other customers. AGAIN, this is at about 11:30am on a Tuesday.--When the waiter asked if I wanted fried rice, Id asked for shrimp fried rice. He said No, just fried rice. I dont know of any Chinese restaurants that dont offer other types of fried rice, such as house, shrimp, chicken, or pork fried rice, etc.. (knocked off one star for that).I settled for the _blank_ fried rice. He then asked which soup would I like; sweet and hot, or egg soup. Id asked which did he like and recommend. He recommended the sweet and hot soup, I said Ill have that. However, when he brought out my food, he brought the egg soup. I even asked just to be sure, and he said its the egg soup. All of my food came out together. Though, the only thing that was fresh was the chicken! The soup was bland and not hot, and the _blank_ fried rice was COLD. The rice came in a separate bowl (so youd think SOME heat would hold in the bowl).After a few bites of cold rice, I dumped the rice from a bowl, onto my plate. I not only found that the entire serving was cold, but there was HAIR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BOWL!I should have taken a picture for this review! I didnt point it out to them, because there were already a number of things that I didnt like with this visit.1.) ESPECIALLY if you dont have or offer more than one type of fried rice, the one kind you do serve that comes with all of your dishes SHOULD BE FRESH. This is not a buffet, where food is literally being left out. Why is it not hot?2.) If you, as a waiter, recommend a specific dish and your customer agrees to it, why bring out something different?3.) DARK HAIR IN A WHITE BOWL SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED IN THE KITCHEN; especially as youre scooping rice into it.etc.. Dont continue to place food on top just because you may not expect the customer to notice.All in all, as empty as this restaurant was 30minutes after opening, a little bit more care could have gone into the service.

Been a customer for about 15 years since they open up. Called for about 45 minutes to order food on Monday. Went online and website said open. After getting frustrated from no answer I drove to restaurant and it was closed. The next day I called and they were open so I ordered about $60 worth of food which is average. Spoke to petite Asian girl who was taking orders and told her about the situation. Very nicely I might add since I know most of the people who work there know me and my wife.She said they have been closed on Monday for about 2yrs and everyone knows that. I said very nice just so you know the web site said you were open and might want to pass that information on. She said I have nothing to do with that and walked away. Couldn’t believe my ears or eyes.This young lady has been working there about 2 yrs best of my knowledge maybe longer and she has never been very friendly but never had a problem with her. I’m sure the people who work there will know right away who this review is about. I will probably go backSince most the people there work hard and are very friendly.

This place has been my #1 Chinese place for about 20 years and food has been decent compare to places in Chula Vista. I do have something to complain about though, and its been their process of picking up food. They make everyone wait in line no matter if you called in ahead of time or you simply placing an order there at the restaurant. On New Years Eve i called at 11am for a $170 order to be picked up at 7pm. I got there at 7pm and there was a line of about 10 people which took 30 minutes to get to the counter and pick up my food. Our food had been waiting on a table probably before 7pm. By the time we got home our food was barely warm. Picking up shouldnt take 30min. They really need to figure out there pick ups, maybe call the names out for the orders that are ready instead of making everyone wait in a long line It aint fair to wait all that time while your food sits there getting cold. PLEASE FIX IT!! I dont want you guys to lose my business as youre one of our favorite places to eat Chinese food. Oh yeah, this has happened on regular days too, not just on holidays. Call out names of orders that are ready👍🏼. Also your phone line is always busy, hard to get a hold of you. Avg time for someone to answer is like 15min. Also, your prices went up which i understand w everything going on, but come on dont try to charge for chilli oil or wonton chips. They should be free as they were when your dining was open. Makes logic.

Honestly the food is bomb but their customer service is HORRIFIC! They never pick-up the phone. Never. When your call goes through, they sometimes even hand-up on you and never attend you. It is such a shame because their food really is good but their customer service is simply not there. Go to Mandarin Beijing on East Lake Parkway (by In-N-Out and the Otay ranch Mall) instead. Theyre super friendly and best of all, its a family owned business. Their food is just as delicious.

I really love this place!! Its like a hidden gem! The portions are large and can feed up to four people per order!! They house special rice is very good! Overall I was extremely satisfied with all the food! Very flavorful! The only thing about it is that the customer service could improve, but overall, the food is worth it! Recommend to people with large family as well since you can get e orders of food for 6+ and you will still have leftovers.

Best takeout Chinese food in the area. I also love their salt and pepper chicken wings. I always get two orders. I recommend getting the fried rice with your entrees. You will not be disappointed. My wife is Chinese and even though the food isnt authentic in her opinion, she still likes the food. The restaurant is clean and always packed which is why I always order out and its always ready in 15 minutes.

Used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant now it’s terrible paid almost $100 for 4 plates and 2 soups. The beef & broccoli was terribly bland. The orange chicken had good flavor but the chicken was very dry almost like beef jerky. The wonton soup was very bland barely any flavor was like warm water. The wings use to be robust, virtually greaseless and a topic of conversation. My first red flag was that I received my order in just under five minutes; it turned out to be a tray of substandard wings soaked in grease; the accent of salted pepper wings was completely lost; the wings were however still a topic of conversation as nobody would eat them and made polite inquires as to where did I get them so they could identify where not to go. Best salt & pepper wings in San Diego. $10 will get you a huge portion, with rice. Eat them hot or do like i do, put them in fridge overnight and eat cold. They are awesome! Salt and pepper chicken wings were very good. Steamed rice was perfectly cooked. The curry beef was mostly green bell pepper and could have been more spicy for my taste. We were finishing up when I felt something foreign in my mouth. As I pulled it out I was afraid to look at it. My daughter took it from me and just as she was looking at it the waitress walked by and my daughter showed it to her and asked if she knew what it was. The waitress took it and smiled and told us it was a piece of the scouring pad they used to wash the pots. Then my daughter told her where we found it. She took it to the kitchen and quickly returned with an apology and asked if we wanted to exchange our dishes. My daughter graciously declined and I left a generous tip. This was the third time I have had this type of experience. Eating out is probably not something I should be doing anymore. Who knows what goes on behind kitchen doors.

Ive been going to this place for years. Best Chinese food in San Diego. Ive tried nearly everything on the menu and havent been disappointed. The cashew chicken is my go to order, but the soft noodles, beef and broccoli, egg foo young and sweet and sour pork are great too.The customer service isnt the best in the world, but thats mostly due to cultural differences between the staff and the public. The staff is always very nice, accommodating and will get you whatever you ask for.In short, love this place and highly recommend it to all!

We frequented this restaurant for about 6 years and always found the food good and reasonably priced. On the down side, the place was shabby, especially the mens room which doubled as a store room. On our last visit, we finished out meal and asked for the check. At that point, we realized that they had not brought our rice. I told the server to give us a dollar credit for this oversight and they insisted that either we take it home or we could get an extra serving of rice when we next came in. We explained that it was too late as we had finished the meal and we had no desire to take the rice home. They said no dollar refund and we never returned. Their loss for one dollar.

I should review this place once and for all, but I should let you all know that if youre thinking about trying this place, DO IT! I am a San Diego native, but moved about 8 years ago. This Mandarin Chinese place is still one of the places I MUST stop by at least once...three times...along with some Mexican food places of course. I dream about this salted pepper chicken. Dont ever order out or eat here on a holiday.We ordered food days before New Years and on the day of I stood in line (which was out the door) for 1 hour+ to pick up my order. After the long wait, I finally made it to the front only to find out they had lost my order and had no record of it. They then proceeded with the next customer and ignored me without even attempting to right the situation. We ordered $150+ of food for a party and now we had nothing to feed our guests.WORST service ever. We used to eat here but after this we will NEVER again and will tell all our friends and family.

Otay Mandarin is a place we look forward to coming to, every year we visit my son in Chula Vista. This USED to be our go to Chinese in the last year 3 separate times the food was awful. Last night was the 3rd and last time for crappy food. The fried shrimp was hard as a rock cold and so thick with breading you couldnt eat it. Otay Mandarin is a very popular restaurant in Chula Vista. Theres lines every single day theyre open. I specifically like the Chicken and Shrimp Soft Noodles.
