Decided to try something different for Sunday brunch and checked out Otus Thai based on pictures and other reviews. Wow, so glad we came here. The food quality and taste were amazing. I forgot to take pictures of the other items because I couldn’t help myself from just eating. I like to get pad thai at each Thai restaurant to do a comparison. I know each restaurant does it differently but Otus’s pad thai was one of the best I’ve had. Beyond the food, service was exceptional and very accommodating.

Stooped by for dinner, tried the safe choice of basil chili chicken and Chinese broccoli with chicken. As typical with Thai restaurants, had to pay for the steamed rice separately as it is not included (at Chinese, Indian etc restaurants it’s always included).The food was below average, even for the safe chili basil dish.The Chinese broccoli dish was outrageous: they were feeding their customers with the stalks, barely any broccoli florets check out attached photos. Don’t they know the stalks go in the garbage?! Stalks are considered waste especially at a restaurant at $20 a dish.Service was average borderline inattentive.

Our group was vegans and non-vegans and a dog: we liked every dish. Doggo loved the steamed chicken side which was a generous portion. Most of the menu items can be made vegan — just ask. I got the green curry and ate it ALL. Service was top notch. We sat in the back patio, which is on the smaller side: two picnic style tables that fit about 6 each and two couples’ tables. Overall not mind blowingly good but definitely good experience. Dishes were flavorful and filling.

We had a lovely dinner after a long hike here! The food was lovely, The restaurant was a little loud but still nice. (Yet, I could barely hear the person across from me!)Thai fried rice was AMAZING - although I had it without egg - I really recommend it!Need a nice dinner and are close? Go for it!Unfortunately we didnt stay for dessert and instead went to the Ralphs next door for it. We just didnt have time to wait!

Some of the best thai food in Hollywood and really nice drinks. Breakfast menu is great, especially eggs and chicken bowl. Service is friendly and same folks have been working here for years so feels like a family business that they are taking good care of. I love the ambiance and meeting up with people here especially when we discussing Creative Society projects. It’s a lovely place, their french toast is probably the most famous thing on the menu and if you never tried it here, it’s worth it. Great place overall.

Just like a hidden gem. We ordered Kai-Kata, Steamed Basil Mussels, happy belly and Crab Fried rice. I forgot to take a picture of the crab fried rice but it smells so good. Everything is yummy. Love their attention to detail on food plating. Will come back to try other items on their menu.

Delicious thai food with great, warm and attentive service. I had the khao soi with sliced chicken and loved it. Perfect flavour and great marinated chicken. Would definitely come back here. Also had a thai tea and enjoyed it. My friend got Tom Kha coconut soup and loved it.

Came to Otus on a friends recommendation and really enjoyed it! We had a huge party (11) and Otus was able to accommodate us without any issues though we may have been a little overwhelming to start the morning...I began with a pink latte which is a latte made with Thai sala syrup. The flavor profile is similar to strawberry milk but a little more floral. A couple friends went with bottomless mimosas but remarked that it wasnt too special.For appetizers we shared the roti and Ms Dangs crispy fried rice. Both were honestly delicious! The roti was prepared like a banana fosters french toast with roti substituting the toast. It was crispy, buttery, and similar to fried bananas! As for the crispy rice, it was done very well! Ive had versions that were way too dry and crispy or too tangy from vinegar and fermented pork but this hit all the right notes and the crunchy bites from the leaves of romaine paired perfectly!For my main, I went with the Moo Ping and OMG the pork skewers were TO DIE FOR! They were marinated and grilled to perfection! The accompanying vinegar dip was a little bit too acidic for me though. I really liked the accompaniments of papaya salad and sticky rice. Both paired perfectly with the super savory pork! I also liked using the remaining dressing off the papaya salad to dip and accompany the rice as it wasnt nearly as strong as the vinegar.I tried bites from my friends dishes and some really hit! The happy chicken was a must order but the happy ribs is a miss. The chicken was so crispy yet so juicy but the ribs were clearly over fried and so dry. The kai kata is unique! Getting a bite with the baguette, ground pork, Chinese sausage and creamy egg is really something to experience at least once!Among the rest of my friends (aka the other side of the table), reviews were mixed. Both friends that ordered the shitake chicken rice bowl mentioned that it was a little bland but the one that ordered khao kai jiew gave it a thumbs up. There were also two thumbs up for the the its a joke jook. By far the worst menu blunder though was the tofu street noodles. My friend said that there was zero flavor. He tried to fix it with a lot of sambal and then soy sauce but it wasnt until we ordered some peanut sauce ($3) that he finally enjoyed his meal.Our entire meal with gratuity came to about $370. Id say its safe to plan that your meal will average about $25 with drinks.

Great food and ambiance!! The owners were so nice and attentive and the food was AMAZING. There is also a patio area in the back that is pet-friendly! Definitely a must try.The crispy pork appetizer was crispy and light, paired well with the sauce. Noodle and rice dishes were solid. Roti dessert was delicious and crispy, the perfect balanced sweet!

This is absolutely one one my favorite places in my neighborhood. Started coming here after things started to re-open. From my first visit, the own was very welcoming and explained the menu to us. Also made suggestions. Every time I visit, I literally leave with a happy belly. Hehe. I try to change things up and I always leave satisfied. I love the vibe inside but also the back patio area. Staff is always so friendly and other customers always seem like they are having a great experience also. They also have adult beverages. Hehe. Please have a meal here. One of the best experiences Ive ever had with Thai food. The crab pad thai and crab fried rice were epic portions and with real crab in huge portions. The Tom Yom soup is to die for!!! Very affordable for the experience you will receive.

Price: reasonably priced by LA standards but a bit pricey relative to other Thai restaurants.Food: delicious food that was adjusted according to our requests (vegan and soft tofu instead of fried tofu) flavor was great, I only wish the pad kee mao had been a bit spicier.Service: attentive and fast service, really welcoming and friendly.Vibes: quite different from the interiors of other Thai restaurants, it’s more on the minimalistic side, but still a warm atmosphere.Would definitely recommend!

This place is my go to when I feel like eating out. Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is excellent. I especially like the Brioche French Toast if I’m dining in the morning, it is out of this world. Pair it with their gourmetCoffee, it’s a great way to start the morning. As for as lunch and dinner I tend to lean toward the Kai-Kata, Khao Man Gai and or the Happy Ribs. Can’t get enough of this restaurant. 5 stars

Their food seemed authentic but the ambiance is very modern — clean, simple!We got Thai fried rice (can’t remember the exact name) and something from the breakfast menu (can’t remember the name... 😓). Both dishes were two thumbs up!!! 👍🏻 the fried rice was flavorful and the skewers in the breakfast dish was.... SO juicy and seasoned all the way to the core; you get a mouthful of flavor + juice in every bite!! Plus the charted taste.... wow. The dipping sauce was very limey and delicious, too!! Not sure why there are all these reviews raving about the food here. I ordered the Chinese Broccoli with Beef, Spicy Basil Fried Rice, and Pad Kee Mao with tofu. The broccoli and beef was dry over a HUGE bed of white rice with a limited amount of what the dish was actually supposed to consist of, and only had broccoli stems in it. The Spicy Basil Fried Rice tasted burnt. The Pad Kee Mao was bland and flavorless. Overall there was a serious lack of flavor in all three dishes other than the burnt taste of the fried rice and I’m super disappointed. Somebody else said it was like a flight meal and that was exactly my experience!

Otus is a wonderful local spot. The dining room is well arranged using white/neutral colors making the space feel open and clean.The service is unpretentious, friendly, and fast.Another notable plus to Otus is their thoughtful wine list filled with natural and organic wines.The food has good flavor, mild and balanced spice/heat, and quite simply tasty. Their is only one reason why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. All the meats were tough. The happy ribs were bite size with plenty of surface area making each piece vulnerable to overcooking, leaving the soft center sparse. The chicken in the Tom Kha soup was all white meat, thinly sliced and to no fault of its own, over-boiled by the broth. Finally we had the pad thai with crispy pork belly; while this was the most tender and crispy, there were still parts that were too chewy to my liking.As I deliver this review I recognize that it may be unfair as the meats were possibly prepared as they should be, and my preference is influenced by a culture that glorifies medium/rare meat.

Disturbing experience tonight at Otus..I was eating my nice meal but the staff was giving an older woman with a nice sweet calm dog a very hard time about her service dog ( was legit service dog with legit papers) and the staff made her pull her paperwork out and prove her dog was a service dog. The staff made more of an issue of having the dog there thsn the dog..that did bark once..but no big deal. The woman ending up having to leave and her guest ended up eating alone and he seemed to be having a personal issue of his own. Was bothered how thevstaff preyed on the kind woman helping her friend. This place will not be receiving my business when I need to go out to eat with my pet in the future. Staff needs some training in customer service. Food was good but that was an awful thing to see how the dog owner was made to feel guilty and leave.

Sure they do have the regular pad Thai and drunken noodles but they also have some other options which are really authenticThere’s a congee option, street noodles and khao soi too (had this before at other places but the dish here was really good. Served with lemon and pickles and onions too) and obviously you can choose what protein you want and yes, tofu is an option. So it’s great for vegans!The street noodles were so flavourful sweet and sour and yummy also, even though they look bland (a bit colourless) but they’re really good!They also have a whole suite of options with drinks - alcoholic or regular cafe options or even other Asian bottled drinks. Definitely hit this place up! We’re so glad we did!

Always amazing food!! They have tons of options for the Gluten free and vegan folks out there and if you wonder if it can be either of those, just ask. The prices are slightly higher than other Thai places in the area, slightly smaller portions but always portions that are filling…plus the flavour of the food plus the freshness always makes up for it. Highly recommended!!

Otus is there when I need it. Homey comfortable noodle plate to cheer me up and put a long day to rest- one of the best around. Coffee and a pastry before a day of getting things done? ofcourse. Food is great, feels fresher than most Thai places in the area and cooked-to-order. Authentic noodle dishes are great, as are the array of larb and salads. The atmosphere is also a plus, hip and well lit, with friendly servers— a great date spot. One star down for a bad experience where our order was forgotten about, and we waited forever. This only happened once, and did not deter us from coming back. A go to order is chicken pad Thai, papaya salad, Thai iced coffee, and the spicy street noodles are amazing.

Wow the food here is amazing. Not only did the guy at the counter great us with a friendly smile, he also went out of his way to ask the cooks if they could possibly make crab cheese wontons with out the crab! Absolutely LOVE this place!!! It is clean and simple, and looks like a regular coffee house, but is a Thai restaurant also. Very nice people work here, and really good food. My friend had a chicken bowl and I had pork skewers, papaya salad, and sticky rice!!! You can have western-style breakfast like waffles and Thai food for breakfast at the same time. Definitely will go back :) Street parking available, but it is only an hour parking, so you have to keep feeding the meter if you stay for longer than an hour. It is located right next to Ralphs, so park at the Ralphs parking at your own risk.

Started coming here when I was looking for a local coffee shop. The coffee is awesome and didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming. Great vibes. It quickly became my favorite coffee spot in the area, and it’s also easily become my favorite Thai spot in LA. The egg rolls are irresistible and the pad Thai is tasty and peanuty without being overwhelming. The staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend you stop by for the coffee, the Thai or a combination of both.

Otus’ back patio is really nice and quiet, definitely a great place for a relaxing date or to catch up with a friend over their excellent Vietnamese coffee or Thai iced tea. Nice place. Cozy welcoming location. The Banana french toast was incredible. We got the chicken wings which has a nice crispy batter but needed a little more flavor. Good thing they come with some sweet chilli sauce. We also ordered the Khan min gao, the poached chicken was rather bland, but the broth and this brown sauce that comes with it made the dish flavorful. I would definitely visit again to try more on the menu.

This is my favorite place for a quick bite. Never takes more than 15 minutes for pickup. My favorites are pad see ew w/beef, pad Thai w/ chicken, and Chinese broccoli w/pork belly(the pork belly is incredible). I also love their matcha latte. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Really great little spot! The curries are fantastic and their coffee bar selection is quite good as well. I had the misfortune of losing my wallet right after dining at Otus and the awesome staff let me come behind the counter and rewound all the security tapes to see where it might have gone. I cannot believe I waited this long to eat at Otus especially as I can walk there from my apartment AND it is dog friendly! Oh sure, Ive dropped in and ordered a coffee to go as they carry Intelligentsia brand and it is delicious but I never thought to grab food on my many stop ins.Last week I decided to change that and headed in with my pooch in tow and sat in the back patio area for dinner. For a Starter I had the Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce which I loved! Super tasty and really, really fresh and the sauce paired perfectly with the tofu and herb mixture. For my Main Course I had an amazing Curry Noodle dish with chicken. It was perfect! I would order this every day for the rest of my life if I were able to! For a drink I tried the Passionfruit Caprioska made with Sake and it was a perfect pairing with the food I chose. I will definitely be coming back here to eat more regularly from now on!

Wow is what I kept saying as my husband and I enjoyed our Easter Sunday breakfast. We each had our own savory meaty entree and shared the french toast. The 3 stars are only for the delicious Thai food at Otus. I would have given 5 stars if not for the more than obviously rude staff. Obvious in the sense, their attitude altered from clientele to clientele. I walked in about 25mins before closing and asked right away if the kitchen was open to order. “Yes” was the curt reply “you would have to order Now.” Of course I did. Then my server serves my food and when she asks anything else I said yes some sauces and lime and suddenly she freezes. She gets them but no smile. Just leaves it on the table and goes. Excuse me ma’am, you asked me “anything else” and I said yes to the above mentioned items. I saw the same server grin from ear to ear to customers at another table. Then ice cold to someone else sitting at another table. The staff needs to be pleasant to every customer and not just selected ones. Just pretend even, it goes a long way!

We had a performance at Kol Ami Congregation down the street, a lovely synagogue, and afterwards were really hungry. A friend recommended them so we stopped by. After that a couple of months later, we had another performance over at Kol Ami. My fellow performers were hungry after putting in all that work so we went over grab a bite for dinner. The food was amazing as always and everyone wouldnt stop talking about how good it was. One friend was a little disappointed on the portions but he had literally just woke up and went to the performance and didnt eat anything so he was starving. Everyone left feeling great and full. The space is small but homey in a minimalist home goods way. Really nice. I always get the Thai Ice Tea no matter what!Thanks for putting up with our big loud group! Haha!

OMG! Its only my second time here but YUMMMMMMMM. I picked up dinner last night and ordered the Spicy Garlic chicken with steamed rice and chicken Tom kha. I thought Id be able to save some chicken as leftovers for today but I was wrong. It was sooooo good, I powered through and ate the whole thing. Saved the Tom kha for lunch today and wow. As I sampled the broth while walking to my desk (Im working from home), my legs almost gave out. I had an oral orgasm. Ive been trying to take small sips as Im on phone calls and literally putting people on mute because its impossible to eat this Tom kha silently. 🤤🤤🤤. This is our favorite Thai restaurant. My wife and I have taken everyone who has visited us, and they all ask to go back upon their next visit. Good service, tasty food, great prices, and we always leave full without huge American portions. Staples include curry, Thai fried rice, moo ga tiem pork, street noodles, pad Thai, and pad see ew (although the last one hasnt been as good the past few visits). They have a small part in the back if youd like to eat in the fresh air but we always eat inside. The corkage fee is also reasonable.

I went to Otus Thai based on the reviews and I wish I hadnt. After asking the guy in charge what to order, he recommended the Pad Thai which happened to be my favourite thai dish, so I ordered it with Tofu to go. Once I got home, I was surprised with the saddest Pad Thai I have ever had. Not only it was the smallest portion ever, but It looked like a flight meal, a lump of beige lump, and it tasted like nothing. I will never go there again.

I’ve been to this place a couple times, the food is good. However I’m not satstified with the customer service. My lastest visit will be my last. I was with a party of 3 including my grandson, who is 3 yrs old. He was very hungry I ordered him a waffle. Myself and my friend ordered traditional Thai food. Our food came to my our table with 5mins. After waiting 15 more minutes for my grandsons food I asked about it. The female waiter got irritated rolled her eyes, her comment was inappropriate, especially towards a customer. I explained the food was for my grandson and he’s hungry. This women was arguing with me, I told her “please don’t argue” Never did anyone at the time of ordering the food disclose the waffle would take longer than normal. So after another 10 mins I demanded to know what was going on. When we got his food it was not hot or even warm. This women put her hand over the food to verify if what I was saying was true. I was shocked at her lack of professionalism. I ordered another one, and demanded they give him something to eat while he’s waiting. Our food was getting cold, we were not going to eat in front of him. This visit was a disaster, no one in the cafe knew how or was willing to make this a better situation for my party. Upon leaving no one thanked us for our patron-ship, no one apologized for our experience. I left feeling like I somehow did something wrong, that was their attitude towards me. Any owner of restaurant or food establishments reading this... you need to get people to work for you who understand your customers can with make or break you, in an service industry the coustomer is always right. Get rid of the attitudes, and your stereotypes, money comes in all different people. This cafe will never get my money again!!!
