Wow, the food and service was excellent! I ate there twice. We had the Cobb salad and a ham & cheese sandwich. So full of wonderful ingredients. You can tell Ron and the staff take time in preparing each order and care about providing a good product to each customer. Very hard working people. Thank you.The second time we had the 12” pizza which was enough for 2 people. The crust was good, New York style, sautéed onions, & mushrooms, kalamata olives, with pepperoni & Italian sausage. Yummy! They even have great Italian desserts. Not overly sweet so it’s a nice compliment to any meal.

It was a refreshing margarita pizza its not greasy its light and the crust is amazing, basil was fresh and a nice touch. The sandwiches where very good, super wide selection. But the highlight of our evening was the owner he was very friendly and super patient with us, answered all of our questions. You can tell he loves what he does and his passion shines through. Will definitely be back and with more company!

First time coming here, just picked this place for lunch on a chance since it was nearby a place Im doing some service. Extremely happy I found them. One sandwich and Im hooked. Great selection of sandwiches with quality breads, not just run of the mill dry hoagie buns. The sandwich I was eating was so good I had to stop half way through to take a picture, this was the hot sandwich Chicago Italian Beef Sub. Definitely recommend!

Stumbled upon this cute deli!The ham and hot sopresata sandwich was perfectly balanced with the fresh mozzarella, arugula, red peppers onions and Italian vinaigrette. The bread was perfectly toasted without being too crunchy or chewy.I dont live here but Id love to come back to try their other sandwiches and pizza!

Food was really good, place was very clean and Papa Duke was friendly and never stopped moving. I ordered pastrami, which was excellent with Boars Head meats. Was a bit dry, so I got extra deli mustard. Next time Im trying the meatball sub, which looked amazing but I always pick pastrami for my first deli sandwich if its available. These are not giant deli sandwiches, but very filling and tasty.Best part, the prices for sandwiches were right where they should be.

Dad and son run the place, serving very generous portions and big and fresh sandwiches, salads, etc. Check out the menu that I included. Although they mostly serve the business community in the area, it is well worth a little extra drive to try the place. I recommend the Reuben sandwich or the Mediterranean salad ( loaded with olives, chicken, ...).Nice family. Small place. Great food. We need to support small businesses like this.

Papa DUKE, papa Naight here. I have to tell you that this was by far the best morning breakfast I have had. Duke was getting the store ready and I kind of snuck in with my son without being open yet. We had a competition down the street early. Papa Duke was the nicest man and I would love to boost him up. Great selection, the food was delicious and he made us feel extremely welcome. If I lived there, this would be my main spot. See you next year Duke!

Best Deli in North County. I go specifically for “The Jersey Shore…Papa’s Way” (Double Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese) because… A) Where else can you get Taylor Ham in San Diego?…B) It’s a Fu**’en Amazing breakfast sandwich…C) It’s reminds me of home and …D) Because you’re not here.This place has the best sandwiches and no lines bc people would rather follow the other sheep for a corporate sandwich at Jersey Mikes, Quizzinos or Subway. But that’s a California thing, keep Walmart open and close independent shops .It doesn’t have to be that way, you can shed your wool and stand on two feet and have a great breakfast or lunch in the meantime. Or don’t and at least I don’t have to wait to be served.

WOW! My company had a last minute catering order and called Papa Dukes a few hours before it was due. They were so accommodating to our order, very organized and quick to help! When I went to pick up the order everything was ready to go and they labeled each box with the employees names! How incredible and what a sigh of relief. This man knows how to make an awesome sub. His Brooklyn Hero rocks. Roast beef with au jus is stellar. Cobb salad is perfect. Just the right amount of meat and fixings. To the dork who gave this hard working small business owner a low score because the shop was too hot while you stopped in for 30 seconds to pick up a to go order; get a grip. We LOVE Papa Dukes! I found them one day driving into my new job. They make some of the best sandwiches. Always fresh ingredients, great bread and tons of options. They even offer burgers (which are one of my sons favorites). I am a plain Jane turkey with onions, tomato, and mustard on sourdough. You would think that would taste the same everywhere but trust me it does not. Weve tried a few delis in the area and even other business parks but Papa Dukes is the best! The staff is always so nice and smiling. Its a real great local family business. I dont think you can go wrong with anything you decide to get (from potato salad to sandwiches, its all super tasty).

My wife and I were in Poway looking for a simple meal for dinner and found this place on Yelp. I highly recommend coming to this place. We ordered the Meatball Parmesean sub and the Nicks Viva Chicken sandwich and they were amazing. The portion size was huge and you could instantly tell every single ingredient was top quality and fresh. I cant wait to come back to this place! The owner (Papa Duke) himself served us and was extremely friendly. He checked up on us to make sure our order was great and could not have been more helpful. I found this place by accident, and I am immensely glad I did. The sandwiches are top-notch stuffed with the freshest meats from Boars Head company, and plenty of the meat and cheese and other ingredients. The bread is fantastic too and has the right texture for sandwiches. They dont skimp here, and their personalized service is fantastic. The fries are absolutely amazing as well, hand-cut and homemade. I am not easily impressed by restaurants, but in this case I was impressed. I am definitely a won-over repeat customer. Thank you!

Excellent sandwiches with quality ingredients. They use Boars Head meats, in addition to homemade things such as their meatballs and pulled pork. The meatball sub and Cuban panini were outstanding. I was unloading at Sysco across the street and stopped into Papa Dukes just before closing. I grabbed 2 Mushroom Swiss burgers and brought them back to my truck to have for dinner. I grew up in new Jersey surrounded by Italian delis and restaurants, this modest restaurant has the best all homemade menu you can get. I had the Brooklyn hero, excellent sandwich! My wife had the chicken pesto panini, also very good. A good destination for a motorcycle ride! Must visit!

Ive been looking for a good deli in Poway for about 2 years now. Found Papa Dukes on a Google search. Its kind of tucked away in the industrial section of Poway, near a lot of office complexes. I ordered a Reuben and OMG it was delicious. Perfect flavors. Some delis make them and one or more ingredients overpower the others. This was a perfect blend of all. They not only make sandwiches, but they also make pizza and burgers. I havent tried the burger but the owner said that dont freeze them and are hand pressed. He also brought my wife and I complimentary 2 slices of their cheese pizza. Thin and crispy without being burnt. You could hold out the slice and it would stay flat. PERFECTION. And the flavor of just a regular slice of cheese pizza was fantastic. You could taste the cheese, taste the sauce, and feel the crunch and flavor of the crust. Phenomenal. We will definitely be coming back to try all of what they have. Highly recommended eatery.

We work in the same business park as this deli and the fact that they deliver is excellent! We normally order buffalo chicken wraps from them and they are delicious! Papa Dukes is my go-to place whenever I want a sandwich. Ron, the guy who runs the place, makes many of his own sauces, including Au jus, as well as his own meatballs... and he does not skimp on portions... the rest of the meat comes from Boars Head, which is a very high quality meat that is natural without anything injected into it or added to it. And he uses fresh bread baked daily from a special source. All in all, if you like sandwiches, I would very highly recommend you come here. You will not be disappointed

I used to come here to pick up a Jersey Shore for breakfast on the way to work occasionally, but now I usually eat at home. First time here, always looking for a good sandwich, this place is the real deal! I had the Brooklyn Hero with a side of Fresh Cut Fries, everything was delicious! The bread is awesome, much better than the buns all the other sandwich shops seem to use, this was real french bread with a nice crust and good chew... Well definitely be back (even though it is a 25 mile drive each way!). The owner is super nice and definitely does things the right way! They are now open on Sundays and they have outdoor seating.

If you substitute the default bread with ciabatta, and the Italian dressing with their unique peppercorn gourmaise, the sandwich strikes a stirring resemblance to the now discontinued italian combo from Panera.
