My husband and I came here for the first time. It was ridiculous, ly amazing! When food makes you dance on your first bite, and not care what you look like as youre enjoying it, thats when you know.The owner was very kind and hospitable. I 1000% recommend it. Perfect southern comfort food.We got a chicken combo and a crawfish combo. So fresh and juicy!

What a place to find when searching for food. Im glad I stopped here. We had the catfish, and fried pickles then ordered the red beans and rice and greens to take home because we just couldnt pass it up and loved it. Back the very next day to order the Mac and cheese, hush puppies, and chicken. You will not be disappointed. Even came out of the kitchen to check on us. Loved every interaction we had here. Will definitely will come back when we visit Paso Robles again. This is also us coming from Vegas! Make sure you come earlier because they will run out! One of the reasons we came back the next day!

If you’re in Paso Robles… you seriously need to stop by and try here. I get it, you’re here looking for just wine and food pairing. But! If you need other than just wine and cheese, get some real good soul food here.Food: What we tried: Fried Catfish, Fried Okra, Fried Chicken, and Mac n Cheese. We never tried Fried Catfish before and boy was this super good. The seasoning was perfect that you don’t really need any sauce for it. Not too salty. Just great. Fried Okra the same. Fried Chicken for me personally was a little salty (I eat a little bland more), but it was perfect for my husband and I know most people would love the seasoning as well. We wish we stayed in Paso longer to be able to try all the other food! We will be back!Service: Friendly staff and they were super nice to check up on people. The food might take long to come out, but give them that time so that they can perfectly fry the food! It’s worth the wait. The waiting period makes sense on the type of food you order. If it’s fried, you want them to make sure to fry it well and not over fry it as well.Atmosphere: It’s a chill spot. If it looks empty when you first walk in, it’s because a lot of people were ordering take outs. Perhaps to pair the food with wine at home? Why not? Although pairing it with beer would be better. There’s plenty of space for people to sit inside. Nothing too crazy and it’s a simple place for people to focus on the great food that they’re eating. We enjoyed our stay to eat. There’s a small outdoor sitting area if you want to bring your dogs too. There’s parking in front of the place as well.Thank you for the delicious food! ❤️

Wow! What an awesome place and a huge addition to the growing dining scene here in Paso! The food...OMG the food! Legit Soul Food! Had the fried catfish, fried chicken, greens and fried okra. Id recommend them all to everyone! Cant wait to try the crab bag next time! My daughter just joined me and said OMG Dad, this is the best fried chicken ever.Only issue for me is this place isnt open enough! Thursday-Sunday, 2pm-8pm. Bumped into this place when looking for a place to eat and parked there without realizing there was a restaurant already next to us. They had just opened so the place was quiet but the cashier was very kind and told us it would be a few minutes longer since everything is fresh to order. Good things do take time after all.We got a large sweet tea to share and got chicken combos. Crispiest, juiciest chicken I’ve had in awhile and the seasoning was just as good. They also have every hot sauce possible so I tried at least three I’d never heard of. You get beans n rice, super cheesy mac ‘n cheese and the softest buttery cornbread ever.Another man working there took the time to stop by our table and see how we liked the food; he was very kind and told us to recommend to friends so here I am. Please stop by, it’s so worth it!

I wanted to treat myself to a new place for my birthday so I decided to order takeaway for my family from Paso soul food grill. My son and I split the catfish and dark meat combo so we could try a little bit of everything and it was all amazing. The catfish was literally the best I have ever had. Im looking forward to my next visit here and fingers crossed I can try the greens. That was the only sad point I had that I missed out on them.

Finally, a great restaurant in town. The food tasted great and there was so much of it! We ordered the poppers and the Salmon dinner. Such a unique flavor. We came here for the first time last night and really enjoyed it! I grew up in the South so I like to think I know good soul food. The food here is definitely comparable to the food I used to eat in Louisiana and Florida. They have the best music selection in town as well if you like 80s and 90s R&B. The portions are extremely generous. We had leftovers! Very cool place with wonderful food!

This Sunday October 22nd, Coming home from Santa Cruz to South Orange county we were lucky enough to stumble into this gem of a restaurant 20 minutes before they closed! The girls who took our order were both helpful and polite and after we sat down the owner and chef came out and told us our food would be a minute cause they were making it fresh and when we heard that we all knew we were in for a great meal. We all got light and dark meat baskets and they were heavenly! Thank you Dub for a great meal! BEST SOUL FOOD AROUND!!

We saw advertisements for this in a magazine. It said soul food and we were so excited. We drove all the way to Paso Robles and got there and it was locked and said it opened at 2:00. We walked around for 2 hours downtown and then sat outside their place for 30 minutes with the door still locked. We decided to go across the street to a Mexican restaurant and eat which was delicious by the way. But we saw them coming back about 45 minutes later unloading their truck with food from smart and final. Doesnt sound much like soul food to me. When I called to see if they were open, the recording said they can change their hours at any time. Not a good way to run your business. They probably wont be around for long.

Friendly staff. Chicken was seasoned amazing - but was overcooked - I had to pick it apart to get to the juicy bits. (I still ate a lot). A little less time in the fryer and more resting time would be perfect. The bottom bun was hockey puck hard.Portions are pretty big, but the price definitely reflects that. I got almost a whole bag of crinkle cut fries.Everything seems to be made fresh so expect to wait about 15-20 minutes and longer if theyre busy.

Genuinely some of the most amazing food i’ve had in my entire life. chicken was freshly made and fried right there as well as the fried okra. the cornbread was melt in your mouth and absolutely addicting. ranch was homemade, and the greens were to die for.the owner is so friendly and down to earth and i had a great time talking to him.got their banana pudding to go and i think it made me restore faith in humanity from how amazing it was.absolutely will be coming back, 5/5

People forget this is a restaurant run by a local family who run multiple business not just a restaurant, all by themselves. Husband, wife, and kids. Sometimes things happen and hours can change or they might be late to open. If you see them opening up 45 minutes late remember people are not robots things happen. Also if you see them unloading their truck with food from a grocery store there is nothing wrong with that. Restaurants run out of items such as cheese, milk, and eggs and need to stock up fast. They can not always get stuff shipped from a food distributor immediately. Nothing wrong with that. Almost all restaurants have to grab items from a grocery store here and there, but you wouldn’t know that because you haven’t run any type of business in your life, let alone a restaurant. All I see is hard-working people making sure they stock up on enough food to make sure they can feed the locals good soul food. They have been running for over 2 years, they are here to stay!

Delicious! Fried chicken was crispy as heck and tasty. Crawfish with sausage and corn was amazing. Cornbread, black eyed peas, and collard greens were full of flavor! We came at the end of the day and the fried okra was out for the day. We will be back for it, though. You can tell from the flavor, they use only the best ingredients! Everything was so good. Oh, and dont skip dessert - especially if you like southern banana pudding!

I stumbled across your restaurant and glad that I did. Excellent food and I loved the music too. The portions were just right. I ate there two days in a row and had to stop myself from going back the third day. Day 1: I had the cat fish. Day 2: I had the pork ribs both were very good. This food smacks! I ordered the catfish combo. Bit into first delicious catfish fillet and an OM sound started to come out of me. Had no control over it, I one with the universe lol Collard greens had the perrrrfect level of cayenne and the bacon-y Black Eyed Peas brought it all together. Greatest fried chicken I ever had! And the chili cheese fries are on point. Was only able to tip $1 (& im still kinda confused why youre asked if you want to tip despite it being a pickup order) but it didnt jeopardize the quality of the food like I noticed they do at Nates hot chicken for tipping low (I only tip waiters - cost of living in California is outrageuous. If you want to charge more for the food just raise the price). Great Job at Paso Soul Food! HIGHLY RECCOMMEND.

Cant get enough! With every bite you can taste the care and love they put into this soul food. This is food you cant eat quietly and requires some napkins. The fried chicken drips down your chin and has the most satisfying greasy taste and crunch. The mac n cheese is stringy cheesy and has just a hint of a southern flavor to it. I have already made a lunch date for tomorrow to bring more people to taste this delicious food that no one on the central coast can compare to! Owner even came out to say hello wonderful people.

I came to find this place unexpectedly because all the other restaurants on the vicinity had a 3 hour wait and I was hungry! Little did I know how lucky I was! Come to find this is a newer establishment brought to us by a man trying to introduce some new genre of food. I had the fried catfish, black eyed peas, greens, and cornbread as well as a side of hush puppies. I liked it all! I mean, bear in mind, its fried food so youre not going here if you want healthy choices. But if you want something different and delicious, its the place to be. Dont be afraid to try the greens - they have amazing flavor. The things Id change are sizes of cornbread - my hubby and I shared this meal and I didnt want to share the small square that came with it - and provide more tables and chairs. This place was amazing! The food was heavenly, and there were games for us to play. My toes were curling and my eyes rolled back at how good the food was. This is the best meal Ive had in Paso in the ten years that Ive lived here. The chicken sandwich I had was HUGE, crispy, juicy, and seasoned perfectly.I ordered a peach soda, corn bread, and some of their banana pudding. You can tell everything is made with love and care, and is absolutely delicious. I wanted to take a picture, but I seriously could not stop eating.I dont know what they put in that banana pudding, but you simply have to try it when you go here.Also, the staff is extremely polite and professional, and the restaurant is spotless.

Wow, so good! I am so glad we tried Paso Grill, definitely our new go to for fried chicken and other fried things. I don’t like fish but my doctor told me to eat more fish so I tried the catfish and it was delicious! I am always worried about things tasting “fishy”, but the catfish was rich and buttery and flakey and fresh. As you will have guessed, I don’t eat a lot of catfish so wasn’t sure what to think when I saw how it was breaded but it was the perfect amount of breading with the lemon and a little sauce. (And I don’t actually think anyone needs to tell my doctor the only fish I’ve eaten was deep fried, so. Let’s keep that between us.) My husband got the chicken sandwich and we shared the artichoke hearts and everything was excellent. Plus - super nice folks worked there. Highly recommended - I’ll be honest that it would have gone better with a beer, but my doctor also told me to drink less, so probably for the best….

We frequent the Paso area frequently from the central valley - its our getaway destination for the weekend. We have also been to New Orleans a couple of times and have had the opportunity to visit Emeril Lagasses restaurant there. When we were there, I decided to see what Emeril could do with a simple entre like fried chicken (I love bone-in fried chicken!!) and it was the best fried chicken I ever had, prior to that day. Dubs chicken was better than I remember Emerils chicken being. Plus the sides. The place is unassuming and plain from its appearance, but the food is anything but. My wife had deep fried salmon bites - never heard of such a thing: absolutely delicious!! Do your taste buds a favor and make one of your eatery stops in Paso Robles to Paso Soul Food Grill. You’ve GOT to go here! The crispy coating on the fried chicken is mouth-watering and the chicken so moist. Remember when your mom would fry chicken and you’d get to eat all the fried chicken-crumbs that collected in the pan and they tasted so good? Well this fried chicken is like…a bigger dose of that…you just wanna dig in! The collard greens are spot-on (and not stingy on the pork pieces) and the catfish is flaky and not greasy. There are only (2) suggestions I would make: Number 1) Just a tiny bit less salt on everything and Number 2) Bigger slices of corn bread, please. Come hungry. I am from Texas and I get so homesick for true soul food. This is the place. And I don’t have to spend hours prepping and fussing over a hot stove. Large portions for even better the next day leftovers. Bliss!

If you can go when it is open, the food is delicious. The hours are a little uncertain. I hope this restaurant does well because there is nothing like the food they provide us. I recommend the catfish, collard greens, and the banana pudding dessert.
