Ph Ao Sen Restaurant in Oakland

Well, we havent been here in a while since we moved further away but this isnt the place were used to. Fancy bowls, more upscale decor, and it just aint the same anymore.Our orders (both larges) came in fancy bowls with high sides that makes it difficult to eat, and to make it worse, the bowls were only half filled! My wife doesnt eat a lot and even she didnt leave full off a large...I was hoping to finish her left overs but was disappointed.The Vietnamese coffee was 90% ice! In picture, thats how much ice is left about 1.5 hrs after we got it! To make it worse, it definitely wasnt the normal condensed milk, more like a flavored hazelnut creamer...barely drinkable, and thats 30 mins after getting it because there was so much ice that we couldnt put a straw in.

The inside was definitely a vibe. Jazz music played. Tables were bussed in a timely manner. I ordered a large and the serving was smaller than Pho Mekong, the best pho spot Ive had in Oakland so far.They initially tried to avoid giving us both water and tea.They also messed up and charged me incorrectly and then charged me 3% for using a debit card.I wasnt satisfied with service.

I got the #12 and it was some of the best pho I’ve had in the bay! The atmosphere was great, all the lighting and plants made the place feel very inviting. Definitely will be coming here more often.

Best pho broth in Oakland! We came on a Thursday for lunch. We both ordered the #1 - pho dac biet $14.50. I should have gotten the #2 because that one came with beef balls for the same price. The broth tasted clean and is the best Ive had in Oakland. It is one of the best in the bay for sure. We also had the chicken wings, very tasty and an ice coffee. They make their iced Vietnamese coffees with crushed ice. It was fragrant with a hint of hazelnut. So darn good. Great job my friends Pho Ao Sen. We had an awesome lunch.

I went on a rainy afternoon and the beef pho was perfect for the weather.The service was efficient and I was heads down eating in no time!It’s comfort food like no other. Such simple ingredients coming in harmony for out of this world flavor!Definitely check it out in Oakland.And yes, they have lots of parking too

The food is awesome, authentic and the environment gives you that family feeling. I have had Vietnamese food before and this place ranks up with the best of them. Taste, quality and quantity is all there.The hostess/waitress was very nice and sweet. She took her time explaining the different dishes to make sure you pick exactly what you want. Because of her the restaurant gets a extra star in my book. Great job hostess/waitress!! 10/01/18

The rice noodle is very good. Especially the beef is tender. It is worth of the price. The service is also good.

This restaurant has been around for a very long time. Very consistent food tasting. It is well known for 100% broken white rice, central region of Vietnam food such as Bún Bò Huế. Northern region food such as Bún Chả Hà Nội.Chinese Hainan island chicken rice with ginger fish sauce. Of course, beef or chicken noodles are good.

Tasty, tasty, and tasty! Clean beef broth and mouth watering beef, this is the place to go. The area is “interesting” BUT there’s a large parking lot next to this establishment. I recommend the “number two”, which is a beef soup noodle dish with all the magical beef parts 🤤
