The service was great! Every staff member was really nice, and our orders were taken and served with surprisingly fast wait times.The food was also really good, especially their veggie fried rice. Everything we ordered tasted great. The only issue we had was the the beef tripe was a little hard to chew.The atmosphere was also nice. The calm music, the shut windows, and the ambient lights made for an immersive experience.

I dont know why, but sometimes the food and service is hit or miss. Need a refill on water? Youll probably have to flag someone down. Other than that, its a clean place to take family and friends, and its not crowded often. When the wife has cravings for Pho, atleast this place has fried chicken for the kid--and a tasty strawberry smoothie.Calamari is really good!

Really good pho! Loved the broth. Also the rice combo is perfect and has a little bit of everything. I would definitely come back every time Im in San Diego. The egg rolls are a great size.Service was also really nice and I appreciated how thorough they were with checking our order.

There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in San Diego and the quality can vary, but this one is solid. Despite a wide variety of menu items, the food is consistently good. Typical of most Vietnamese restaurants, service is not the best. Its in a big shopping complex so parking is relatively easy. If youre looking for good Vietnamese food, this would be one of my first choices.

Good pho, authentic taste. Always quite busy and the waiters are decent. It was unfortunate that we were eating along with some extremely loud kids, and when I say loud I mean incessant screaming. Normally I dont really mind, but this was just not okay. I wish the parents did something, or at least the waiters could have stepped up and asked the parents to calm them down (there were quite a few waiters just standing around, its not like they were powerless to do anything). Not saying that it is the waiters job, but there is no way they didnt recognize the commotion and feel like it was a perfectly fine afternoon dinner experience for all the others there.

The food used to be good. Now they are just average. What i don’t like is ordering on the app and the auto tip is set to 18%. When I got the bill, they charged tax on top of the 18% tip and suggested additional tip. That is not a right. :(

Pho Ban Mai Restaurant is about as close to authentic Vietnamese food as possible outside of Vietnam.I ordered B6 and it was excellent - would highly recommend.Food is quick. Service is great.Will update following repeat visits on consistency.

My wife and I went there on Thursday noon, the receptionist didn’t welcome us, no greeting no nothing. When we ask if we can sit near window (there are plenty of seats available). He just stared at me for 10seconds without saying anything. Very creepy! And when we sit down, the same guy just throw menu at our table. So terrible we left immediately.

While the food was good the service was, unfortunately, less than stellar. We had to wave down one of the 3 servers who were casually standing around the front to take our order. The egg rolls were hot and flavorful. The banh mi bread was fresh, not too crusty that it scratched the roof of your mouth, and adequately stuffed with the veggies and meat. The pho, however, was a tad too salty for my taste. When we finished our meal, we again had to wave someone down to get the check. If we do come back here, it will be for take out and only for the banh mi.

We were looking for a bite to eat for a late lunch. This place was rated high and figured we would give it a try.We ordered the summer roll with grilled pork as an appetizer. They were great and would order them again. My mom ordered the grilled pork with egg rolls. Both the pork and egg rolls had great flavor. My wife ordered the bun bo hue. She enjoyed it and I thought the broth had good flavor too. I ordered the beef steak cubes with fried rice. The dish came out on a sizzling plate with rice/salad on another plate. We enjoyed all of the dishes and would come back again.

The first couple of times we had dinner here it was so amazing we almost stopped going anywhere else for Pho and Vietnamese food. The last couple of times though, it has definitely changed.Im not sure if its the cooks, the ingredients, quality of meat, unhappy staff members or all of the above but we went from having a great experience to thinking about not going back. Within the last 3 visits we noticed the taste of the food was not on point, the servers seemed annoyed when asked for little things like no ice in water or extra hot sauce and the wait to sit usually averages around 20 to 30 mins.We regularly order a couple of bowls of Pho, marinated cubed steak with rice, sauteed veggies over crispy noodles, salt and pepper chicken wings and Thai tea without bobba. The cubed steak that used to be quality tender meat got switched out with something so bad it was like chewing on seasoned rubber. The Pho broth still tastes good but it seems like they dont put in as much meat as they used to so you end up just getting a great amount of noodles. The Thai Tea is actually very good here and I can honestly say its in my top 10 places for Thai tea taste.Overall, this place stays busy so obviously the food isnt horrible but I just wish and hope that they find a way to get that quality back up.

This is one of the few restaurants that serve Bun Rieu soup. It’s a crab tomato base noodle soup. They don’t serve it with snail. It’s not bad but but very different than Garden Gove restaurants. Plus it’s a lot oilier

The food was good. However, the services were absolutely HORRIFIC from the moment we got there all the way to when the bill arrived. Also, if you must go there for Vietnamese food fix, double check your bill. The two of us were charged for a TIP ON APP roughly about 19% of our total order. Long, one of the servers working there at 10:00 am Monday morning, provided no services. He was constantly looking down at this phone throughout the whole time we were there, showing up at our table only to drop off the bill and take our money.We used the QR code online menu to order after waiting for over 15 minutes for someone to take our order -- Long was too busy playing with his phone and other workers were not making eye contact with us. The charge was for using the online menu to order, apparently there were some fine prints which we didnt see. We got the charge removed but wont be coming back.

We are regulars at this restaurant but our recent visit deterred us from coming back. We ordered one thing to go and they gave us the wrong order. We called to let them know that they gave us egg rolls instead of spring rolls but the waiter accused us of placing the wrong order and hung up. We called back and spoke with the manager who also accused us of placing the wrong order and made the mistake of saying that we pointed to the wrong picture which wasnt the case because the order was made verbally. This is absolutely poor customer service.

Tasty and good value with quick service. I got fried tofu with vermicelli, and it was very filling and delicious. It is not as hot as the name suggests. Veggie rolls for appetizers were huge. We were here for lunch at around 12:45, and it was busy but not busy enough to cause long waits.

Please don’t go there if you are old or don’t have smartphone, because they don’t have regular menu. You have to scan the app, I ask the waiter what happen if you don’t have a smart phone or your phone is dead or no service. Then forget it you be go hungry. They don’t offfer free wifi. This was the first place I ate at in San Diego. I was starving from the plane ride so I ordered vermicelli and my mom ordered a crispy pancake. I was going to eat some of hers but the portions were so big I couldn’t finish my own meal.The meal itself was really good! Since Covid19 and the reopened service, the menu has changed to the online variety. Now the menu shows an old picture (I am used to ordering), but the description is different than the picture. It sets a false idea of what to expect when ordering. Spring Rolls used to be 3 for the price. Now the description says 2, but the picture is 3. This used to be called Bait and Switch, a common way to entice but not deliver for Con men. It seems obvious if you order from the description, like it has been an issue before.

Disappointed. We had gotten take out once before during the pandemic. It was ok but not great. What I ordered had several large chunks of fat in it which sure fine cook the broth with that but several in one bowl was a bit much. And even with that, the flavor was still a bit bland. We had to ask for the utensils. Nobody came to the table for a while so we thought we had to order online, so we were trying to do that when the waiter came. Our table and the table across from us both had difficulty ordering. Not sure if it was his English or that he was new and didn’t really have a handle on the menu but at first he said I couldn’t get what I was ordering, so I pointed to it on the menu and he said oh, yes. Also the menu seemed a little disorganized, it didn’t really flow. Anyway it was average at best.

Average tasting pho inside a dark restaurant in a strip mall.The worst part about the experience here is the way they scam unsuspecting diners on the bills. They make diners PRE-TIP them when ordering. What happened to the concept of tipping for good service? This is before they provide any service whatsoever, not even a paper menu, because diners are required to order by scanning a QR code with no help or recs from any wait staff. Good luck looking for spit in the food if tipping is zero. They then add tax on TOP of the pre-tipped amount, is that even legal?I sure hope theyre properly paying the tipping tax to the government.Then after diners finish and get the bill, theres ANOTHER tip line, with the suggested lowest tip at 18%. So this is tipping for the excellent service of bringing out the bowl of extremely overpriced $15 pho. Which, even after accounting for inflation, it seems overpriced for the area. Pho Ca Dao nearby is $10 a bowl.So diners beware, this restaurant is basically saying that they not only charge 50% more per bowl, but they also provide such amazing service that diners should be tipping at least 36%, plus also paying sales tax on top of the first 18%.

Went there and asked the lady if she could put the pho noodles on the side, due to my current diet…only wanting the broth, veggies, and meat. The lady taking my order shook her head no and said I had to have the noodles with my order. Ive been here a few times in the past and everything was fine. However, I just went here with my entire family and it was a terrible experience. They forgot to record one of our orders even though the waiter asked how the noodles should be cooked for that specific dish. We waited another 15 minutes just for the dish to arrive. Terrible. Terrible service! Employee took forever to acknowledge my presence. Did not speak a word of greeting or demonstrate any friendly, welcoming gesture. This is my third visit; service is good as is the flavor of each dish ordered. For starters, I highly recommend the egg rolls, ask for bean sprouts in addition to the romaine lettuce and mint that is brought to the table. The lychee smoothie is refreshing.

Food is ok. Before it was good when the place first opened. The taste of the food changed when their was a change in management. The new workers here are Poorly trained and do not have proper etiquette to be a waiter. These new waiters have very poor customer service. Not how you be a waiter in this fine establishment. I come here spending a lot of money, but until the waiters change their attitude and customer service and the way they approach customers and speak with them, I will come back more often. So as of right now, I will not come back until this is resolved.

This place can get crowded during lunchtime and at Friday night, and finding parking during these times will take time. There are a decent amount of tables inside and the service is friendly. The food is good, like the fried egg rolls, spring rolls, pho, and broken rice combination plate. My kids like the crispy egg noodle dish. Cant say theres anything that make it stand out among the other similar Veitnamese restaurants nearby, but theres really nothing to complain out either (ok, their Thai tea with boba is nothing compared to the boba drinks you can get at Tea Station several doors down).

When Im trying to introduce someone new to Pho, this has been my go-to place. This is my go to for Vietnamese food when Im missing the food I grew up with. I actually dont order the pho here, as it doesnt stand out to me, but I usually come for all the other goodies. My favorite items to order are the pork paste rolls (love the crunchy piece they add in) and the salt and pepper chicken wings (yummy crunchy salty peppery buttery goodness). I also order the chicken/beef lemongrass often. One thing I was slightly disappointed in was their banh xeo (crispy crepe on their menu?) as it was too fluffy for my liking. Just a personal preference though, as it could be the traditional way of making it, but the homemade ones I grew up with were thin and super crispy.
