Our visit was back in May. The pho tai was extremely fatty and oily. They ran out of lean beef. Won’t be coming back.

This place (like other reviews) is conspicuously dirty.I have posted a picture of what looks like a dead bug in the window sill adjacent to my table.The food did not taste right, and I spit some of it out.Fortunately, I did not get sick, but I wont eat here again.Alternatives: The only safe good place for Pho I can recommend is Pho 41 on La Mirada and Imperial Hwy, about 40 minutes away. At least the food there is safe and good to eat.For the best authentic Pho in L.A. metro, see my other review. That place is in Torrance in the same shopping centre as the Wlmrt.

Food is always good there. Pho dish always comes out before other dishes. They have no concept of a family eating their dish together. 😂 If you order anything other than pho yo will watch your guests eat their food while you wait for yours. Ordered two vietnamese iced coffees. Both of them were filled all the way to the top with ice. Why do they intently screw customers that way? Ill still come here because the food is good. Take the good with the bad. 😂

Pho was really good! Chicken fried rice was yummy! I had an appetizer egg roll, cold noodles with beef sprinkled peanuts, little cut up veggies carrots cucumber lettuce and fish sauce was also good!

Overall it was alright. The broth of the pho was kind of plain. The meat seems to be over cooked a bit. The shrimp rice roll has chicken in it 🤣🤣. The pre-made drip coffee was okay. And The guy at the counter was nice though.

1st time: Food was good but broth was cold/warm... I like it hot.Second time was good but they are being cheap and dont have tendon3rd they they removed all the chili oil and stuff off the tables, when I asked for some the guy said on and never brought it. I was waiting to eat my food. Eventually he brought me salt and pepper? Idk why I didnt ask for that. Only 1 table had the chili oil and it was another asain family. Idk why this place is like this but Im done with this place. Theres always something.Theres a much better spot just around the corner on Newport Ive been going to and never had issues there.Upgraded my review back to 4 stars.I ate here with a friend of mine and then again with my girlfriend and its much better now and back to normal.I wish the broth was a little hotter though.
Good portions and really good soup. The base is sweeter than other places. But the sauce for the vermicelli and egg rolls is the best Ive had. Not fishy, slightly sweet this place is worth eating at.
The soup was good but kinda cold when it was supposed to be so HOT then when I finished the soup I went to the bathroom and I saw some roaches around the toilet you people gotta be careful before you order food check if everything is ok because once you see 🪳🪳 roaches around thats a very bad sign and they need to take care of this and be much more clean
When I order food through postmate, this restaurant intentionally took long time to prepare/ cooking try to increased waiting time.I was waiting an hour and they try to increase more waiting time so I canceled. And than I got charged antways from postmate . Very dishonest people.
It is simply the best or atleast top 3 Korean places to eat. There ginger style cooking is like no other. The meat on the short ribs is a little lacking but the flavor makes up for it 10 fold. Still Id like to see more meat. The cornish hen Ramen is to die for. It is PERFECT as is & I highly recommend it! USE THE SAUCE! Last but not least the soup if absolutely FIRE! I dont recommend try to keep it though. Sadly, it will go bad in the fridge after 24hrs.
Weve been here 4 times in the last two weeks. I get their tendon pho and spring rolls. The combo with grilled chicken and rice was hot and tasty, too.

Inflation is catching up with a simple pleasure of having a bowl of pho. They dont have tendon in the ingredient either. Otherwise it is still delicious if you can afford a small pho for $10.99 plus tips for dining in.
This is a nice hole-in-the-wall place for pho. The broth is rather unique in that i taste quote a bit of ginger in the broth, which i happen to like. The portions are quite modest, but not too overwhelming. Ive also tried the fried rice and bun and they were also very good. I definitely recommend this place for pho. The broth really stands out and i love it. The service was nice and expedient and was seated and ordered quickly. Id definitely come back for more
Food was delicious! Our waiter seemed young and very into the video that was on his phone more than helping us with our order. He also sat at a table three tables away and had his video on so loud we could hear it which was a little disturbing. Everyone else on the staff was very helpful.
The Pho is excellent. Everything else is mediocre. Great price on the pho. Quick to-go orders, even if you walk in and order instead of call. 10 minimum for debit charges, so buy a bowl for now and a bowl for later.
I tried the Special Combo which is worth the price. Small size is quite enough for adult.
I have been a customer of this restaurant for 6 years and over the years it has improved in both food and customer service. Pho broth is delicious that it doesnt need sriracha or otherwise condiments- its good for what it is. Portions are good and price is great. No need to go to little Saigon for good pho, come here.
Disappointing. I tried it based on the number of stars it had. It was busy but the food was lackluster. Egg rolls had almost no taste and little in them - just a very crispy wrapper. The large rare beef pho had hardly any beef in it. I had to ask for 2 extra helpings of basil, mint, & lettuce to get as much as other restaurants provide by default. Fish sauce was so mild as to be almost tasteless. Wont be returning.
First time here and this place is the bomb. Staff takes care of you quick and are kind and amazing. I definitely would suggest you come here. Very inexpensive and great taste. Wish I could give 10 stars. Thank you for great service and your smile.
Pho is affordable and quick to deliver to the table after ordering during the lunch hour, which is important when stepping away from work for lunch. But most importantly, the pho is delicious! I used to get the large bowls of pho, but I now get a small bowl and a boba, 3-bean, or mung bean drink. I leave very full and satisfied. Ive been going to this place for years and the quality and service has never faltered. I hope to keep going there for years to come.
I have Pho at this restaurant before and it was very good. Today I had #55 which was a shrimp and Pork combo with Vermicelli and it must have been loaded with MSG!! My face was bright red and my blood pressure increase to an elevated level. Everyone in my office noticed! Crazy that a Vietnamese restaurants thinks they need to use MSG to Flavor the food!!Never Never AGAIN!
This place is phenomenal - not only is it affordable, the food is great. The pho is excellent but I think the vermicelli really shines. Charbroiled pork vermicelli is where its at...only thing holding me back from 5 stars is that the service is a little slow when they get busy. Wish they had delivery!
Sooo good ! Nice, kind and fast. We stoped here by luck on our to san diego. The service was so fast we order the value combo a kids dish and some yummy shrip cakes. The pork ribs where delicious ! every thing plus drinks under $40 ! Best experience in pho in a long time. We add some ice coffee to go it was perfect not to sweet.💜 definitely well be back on Tuesday. Thank you.
Been coming here for years!!!! And always got their pho special with 1 spring roll n 2 egg rolls. Its not on menu but they always made this work for past 4 years. Walked in today n waiter was little confused but said ok... then he comes back 10 min later to tell me i must choose. This place used to always quiet but now that they r busy, they no longer care for their old regulars.... and their soup is weak now.... oh well...
Service was fast, host was friendly. Brought me the wrong dish but quickly corrected it. Flavor is NOT traditional southern pho, but tasty northern. Good to get variety once in a while.
I had shrimp Pho soup, it was excellent.
Good food, fast service but very, very poor waitressing skills after serving your food. They never came back to check on us or any other person eating there to see if everything was good or if they needed refills, they would only come back to pickup the tips but would not help the lady that would clean the tables. The owner must have not been around and my family was looking forward to eating there tomorrow cause we were going to be in the area but was very disappointed.
Everything is awesome,from their soup broth to the crushed ice in the water to their house made chili paste sitting on each table. Portions never leave you hungry. Plenty of variety for both food and drinks. Pho, rice plates, stir fry, etc and a plethora of boba type drinks along with your usual soda. I usually get two of their iced coffees, saving one for work the next morning. Service is surprisingly good for a Vietnamese restaurant.
I am really picky with my Pho, but this place is definitely one of the best Pho restaurants in the South OC area.
Good for the price, but it’s hard to agree with that they serves a good quality of pho. To me, the soup feels like too artificial taste, rather than a natural flavor.
3.0 star rating1/20/2014Enter Pho Bac Ky in Tustin. Its in the Stater Bros Shopping center close to the 5 freeway on Red Hill. The first thing I noticed was the owner greeting me. He was so friendly and you could tell so appreciative we came in. Always a huge smile on his face. He will never be as cool and hip as my previous Pho owner, but his friendliness really stood out. The interior is clean and neat but a little small. Nothing really memorable. At my old pho place it was very spacious. There would usually be cool alternative music playing or 2 TVs to watch. This place closes at 8:30 pm and at 8:30 it was 3/4s full.My old place had a much better condiment selection. Pho Bac Ky is missing some of the things I loved. Satay sauce for one. They had a paste in a jar that looked like it, but it was really some sort of chili paste in oil. It wasnt very hot and sweet in taste. It wasnt bad. Maybe it was satay, but it tasted nothing like what I was used to. They also were missing the ground red chili paste with Garlic. On the plus side they had the Chinese pepper (white pepper I believe) instead of the regular pepper at my old pho place. I have a fetish about condiments at Pho places for some reason and most places are always missing the satay, chili garlic paste, and the saw leaf herb!The spring rolls were incredibly average. Not as good as my old place. They lacked depth and complexity of flavor.Other places had the pink mystery meat in it and this only had some veggies, shrimp, vermicelli. The wrapper was soft and tasty. I found 2 shrimp kind of chintzy as well. The sauce did not have the peanuty flavor I loved and was kind of strong and salty. I probably will not order this again. I saw another table get some fried egg rolls and those looked really good.I ordered the Pho with rare beef, tendon, tripe, and brisket. The veggies you get are slice jalepenos, bean sprouts, cilantro, and basil. I miss the saw leaf (Gai) herb. It seems like very few places have it outside of Little Saigon. But the Pho was AWESOME. The noodles were firm yet tender and had a great flavor to them. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The tripe was tender yet crunchy. The tendons were like beefy soft gummi bears (without the sweetness of course). You could taste the complexity of the broth. The anise, the beef, the slight sweetness. It was some of the best broth I have had. It also had a great mouth feel I dont know how else to describe it. When it went into my mouth it felt like it almost would vaporize in my mouth and release all its flavors. Then it would slide down my throat in a silky way. I drank the broth so the bowl was completely dry.My chick had the Chicken Pho which uses chicken stock instead of beef. I tried that as well. I could swear there were wisps of ginger. Very chickeny flavor in the broth. And the chicken is pulled from the bone as opposed to pre processed chicken.Finally we ordered some drinks. Cafe Su Da and a blended Lychee drink with Boba. Intense coffee flavor. Not just strong, but flavorful. You can almost taste chocolate under tones, but I know they dont add chocolate. Very creamy and a little thicker than most Cafe Su Das. This is why I give it the edge. Great great great drink. They have it listed as French Expresso or something like thatThe Lychee drink wasnt that good. Too sweet and I dont know why its red. The bobas were very mushy and the drink separated (ice from the liquid) almost right way. At my old place, they were nice and thick and the ice was blended so smoothly it was like drinking a milkshakeTotal price for 2 bowls of Pho, Spring Rolls, Cafe Su Da, and the Lychee drink was $24.00. I found this to be a tad bit expensive.However the good far outweighs the minuses here. Its convenient and I really liked how the owner was so friendly. Service was fast and efficient and cheerful. And the Pho is spectacular. For these reasons, this will probably be our new regular place. I wish it would open later than 8:30 pm though.
Grub hub delivery was not good. The food 2 orders of Pho Tai for $30 is even more pathetic.Ive enjoyed the food there many times before, but this order was completely unacceptable.Never again.
This place is pretty legit, surprised that its not 4+ stars overall. My friend suggested this place and as usual, I get the pho tai, just like I do at every pho joint. My new trend is also ordering spring rolls and this time was no different.The pho tai included a fair amount of meat proportionate to the noodles. The meat tasted fresh and the noodles were cooked just right. I also liked the amount of onions. The broth was tasty and didnt leave a salty aftertaste. Also, I wasnt thirsty an hour later. Therefore, I dont think any MSG! Yay! Bean sprouts were also fresh and crunchy.Spring rolls were good and packed of ingredients. The peanut sauce wasnt too salty either with crushed peanuts/strands of carrots.Service wasnt too bad. There were plenty of staff members walking around. I was even able to flag one down to get more limes!Prices were fair averaging about $7 a bowl. Im willing to come back again when Im in the area, but not sure if Id drive down to OC just for their pho.
Good Pho. Not the best I have had, but 80th percentile. Need to add durian smoothies. Good parking. They also pack everything up well if you get it to go.
They are a lot nicer and friendlier than the other 2 pho restaurants in Tustin. The food is good too, but most importantly, the customer service is great, which seems a lot to ask from the pho places on Newport Ave.
Good for pho if you dont want to drive to other cities. I really like their Grilled Pork Vermicelli. You should also try The Black Sea - a really sweet drink with boba, grass jelly, and a bunch of other stuff that I cant remember. :P Only downside, their website doesnt work, so take-out is problematic if you dont know/have a paper copy of the menu.
Great local mom-and-pop vietnamese restaurant. Employees were very friendly. Food came out quickly and tasted delicious. Check this place out. You wont be disappointed
Next to the Stater Brothers supermarket in Tustin, California, this Vietnamese restaurant is a local best-kept secret. You dont have to head to Garden Grove (unless its after 9pm) for great food at a reasonable price. The place isnt the fanciest, but no one goes to these restaurants for the decor. Highly recommend it.

Really great place. Ive eaten here twice now, onceave having pho which was excellent and yesterday had the curry chicken. This was the best curry chicken I have ever had anywhere. Strongly recommended!

They are usually really good but they got our order wrong a couple times. You cant untie the bags to see if your order is correct when picking up takeout because of the rona.

Close to home, reasonable prices and good eats. The restaurant also has enough seats so theres usually no wait. If we crave for pho, this is the place we come.

Worst service ever! Came in on 11/17/15 at 645p. Not busy. Less then 10 people in the place. Got seated and then ignored for 15 minutes. Not once did someone ever come back over to see if I was ready to order or if I needed more time. I walked out and they ignored me like I didnt exist. Eff this place!

It had several meats. You also get a variety of veggies to add to the Pho. I thought the Pho was delicious. Its the perfect thing on a cold day or if you dont feel well.Its in the Stater Brothers shopping center so theres plenty of parking. Service is also very good.

2023-01-09 02:05:17Feels like a hole in the wall where you feel kind of sketchy but when you go in its just the place youre looking for. Amazing Vietnamese style food and amazing service! Was looking for an authentic Vietnamese restaurant and it did not disappoint! The Pho was amazing! And loved their Vietnamese lumpia! I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could try their entire menu when my family and I went to eat there! Will definitely be visiting again when we get the chance!

2023-07-01 06:04:55This is an understated, no-frills restaurant in a rather run-down strip mall. The food was tasty, but I would have preferred my pho to have been served piping hot, with copious steam escaping. Instead, it was moderately hot and quickly got cold. This didnt bother my dining companion at all, but it did decrease my own enjoyment.

2022-10-17 02:12:39Rainstorm last night got us craving pho today. Pho totally hit the spot. Got the #17 pho with rare steak, well done brisket and tendon. Don’t know what cut of meat the rare steak was, but it was chewy. However, the brisket and tendon were perfectly tender. The broth was flavorful but hubby who likes things saltier IMO, had to add fish sauce. The egg rolls were disappointing. Filling was skimpy and will definitely not order it again. Service was quick.

I am very sad they are temporarily closed because I like ordering online from this restaurant for my lunch, their food is always finished on time and is consistently tasty and well packed.
