I tried the Number 1 Special combo at Phở Hòa Lão Vietnamese Restaurant, which includes a mix of ingredients like rare steak, well-done brisket, flank, tendon, tripe, and spring rolls. The pho was satisfying but not exceptional. Its a good spot to curb your pho craving. The standout was their fresh and generously portioned spring rolls, accompanied by tasty peanut sauce.*Keep in mind, this place is cash only.

They serve one of the best Vietnamese beef balls and all the intestines noodle soups in Oakland. However, its a little on the pricy side. Parking is easy—many Seatings. Staffs are friendly too.Updated on 9/18/23The business is returning—many customers sit inside and outside during lunchtime. But the prices are also getting prohibitive high. Customers, be warned!

I really wanted to like this spot since its got one of the most convenient parking for pho in this area, everywhere else is street parking and paid.The pho was above average for sure and the serving size huge. But in this day and age, any restaurant that only accepts cash will automatically get 3 stars reduced from me.

One of few Vietnamese restaurants in the Bay open for breakfast. Go with an appetite. The very large portions of pho explain the price — can easily feed 2.Pho #1: Quality is in the bite. Clean tasting and fragrant broth; tender rare beef, tendon and tripe.Outdoor seating available. Cash only.

I went here today on my break from work. There was miscommunication and I didnt realise that I had forgotten my wallet and it was cash only.The lady that served me was so sweet and told me that we were both working people and she was glad I wasnt mad at her for not informing me it was cash only. She afforded me the trust and faith that I would come back and pay her. She even invited me to come back with my family to enjoy the food.Oakland is a horrible place in a lot of ways. This lady restores my faith in the people of this city. And the food was incredible. Will recommended this place to anyone I can.Still blown away by her kindness.

Only got a Vietnamese iced coffee to go. Super small cup filled with ice & not much coffee for $5. Finished it in 1 minute & just a few sips. Tasted good but terrible value. I wont get a coffee to go there ever again. Im open to trying dine-in though.

Vietnamese restaurant with foods so authentic in detail but so universal that everyone can enjoy. Very reasonable price compared to others around the area.A little matter I should point out is that the guy, maybe the manager there when I came, seem not interested to look at you when passing the menu, or sleepy not even taking your cash payment. If this improves, it must be a place to stop by if you come to Oakland!

Its been 7 years since the last time I came here. It has good decent spaces for parking. Their services are excellent with polite/kind attitude towards customers. The quality of pho is good and the portion is BIG. I had a large pho for 14 bucks!! The prices are way cheaper than anywhere else, especially other places increased prices and/or decreased the size of portion due to inflation. BUT NOT THIS PLACE. Dont forget to bring cash as they dont accept credit cards for payment.

Chicken pho is my favorite here with clear noodles. They have the whole menu of phos so you cant go wrong but trust me, you wont find better chicken pho. The bowls come in three sizes S,M, or L so you dont need to get more than you can finish but even the small bowls are very filling. Come check these guys out, you will not be disappointed but bring cash; they dont take cards.

I didnt know they only accept cash not until I went up to the counter to pay. She said there is no card machine, she seems to be very annoyed. On the way out I checked for any cash only sign, but there was none.Only the closest sign I could find was for cash -thank you

Ive come here many times for hangover recovery and I can count on this pho to bring me back EVERY TIME 🙌🏿 They are not stingy with the meat, theres always a hearty amount of noodles, and the savory and rich broth is consistently good. Im most impressed with the fact that they give you every herb topping possible unlike some pho place that only give 1 or 2. Im happy I found this place ☺️ the only thing is they only accept cash so come prepared.

Great service, big portions, and delicious food! I always get the #17, noodles with rare steak and its the best! Lots of noodles and lots of meat. And everything tastes high quality! Free parking as well. Free tea! However, meat is sometimes sliced too thick and its a bit chewy.

Been going here ever since I was little, the food is great with large portions. The noodles are softer than most other pho restaurant I went to. Service is decent, youll need to call out to them for help.The only problem I have for this place is the amount of flies that come in. So beware of them and protect your food!!!

Be aware that the waiters do come by very quickly because most people already know what they want to order so I understand that can be uncomfortable if your barely getting there and haven’t already been. Also most of the staff is not very fluent in English so they make gestures instead .but very good service !

Bit outdated (decor down to the bowls and utensils) compared to nearby pho places. Being cash only only hurts their business due to the changing clientale. Cleanliness is also questionable.However the portions are generous for to-go orders and the quality of the broth and meat are great.

Food is very very bad, I ordered Spring roll menu says 4 rolls I only received 2! it was rolled up lettuce and uncooked noodles no flavor we’re not fresh, and barbecue chicken which had so much spices you couldn’t even taste it and it wasn’t barbecue it was like old boiled and refried in oil. I threw all the food away what a waste of money never go there again!

I personally prefer Pho Ao Sen (theyre more expensive but the broth is more flavorful & the cuts of meat tastier), however they only have one size pho. I go to Pho Hoa Lao because its solid and I can get a larger size when Im extra hungry.I have no general complaints: the place is clean, service is quick. Good pho. Its just not my favorite pho.Cash only.

I will stake my review writing career on this. The Best Pho Place Ever! (or until Im proven wrong). Im tired of hearing that Westminster has great pho it is a lie. Here are my requirements for The Best Pho ever:1. Super Bowl the pho must have this name. If it shares a name with the biggest sporting event, the pho size should be as impressive. In the battle of Man verse Food. Food should win. No Vietnamese size portion, but more like big over weight obese American portions. I do not want to have to order extra meat or a side of pork chop. (Even a medium pho should be Large)2. The best item on the menu should be the combination of pho with everything. Tripe, brisket, rare steak, etc.3. The soup broth should be perfect. It should taste like it took 48 hours to make and came from a family kitchen. No can stuff or MSG that makes you so thirsty you keep refilling your water every minute.4. A Pho place must specialize in Pho. I dont want to hear how great the fried rice or Thai ice tea is.5. The restaurant should be filled with Vietnamese customers to validate authenticity.6. The noodle should be cooked just right. It should not be clumped together or soggy. The meat to noodle ratio should be 1:1 or more than 50% meat. No all noodles with 3 pieces of meat type BS!7. The bean sprouts, jalapenos, limes, and mint leaf must all be fresh. The garnishes, however, should not be needed to add flavor.Pho Hoa Lao, you excel in every category. Very clean restaurant with large portions. There are lot of bomb rice dishes if you dont feel like pho. Get the egg rolls if you are super hungry, but you probably will not need them. Service is fast and the parking is convenient. Highly recommended!
