Pricy for small portions. Tasty food. Not much in traditional sauces available and don’t always get exactly what you were expecting especially any specific asks. High prices on appetizers so didn’t order any to try.

We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant despite our initial hesitation. We read that they served small food portions. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find they offered both small and large Pho options. I had the small one and I thought it was still a big portion. My husband got the large one and his was bigger. Both of us got stuffed and were happy with the food.The service was impeccable, with attentive staff throughout our meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommended!

Best pho place in the bay area!! Their steak pho and seafood pho are my two favorites. You get sooo much pho for a pretty reasonable price (I usually cant even finish a small!). Also the calamari and spring rolls are so so so good! The inside is adorable and you can hear their little water fountain which is so peaceful. Very nice staff, they never disappoint! Also lots of outdoor seating as well.

I ordered the chicken noodle soup. The broth and chicken were very good. They gave a lot of noodles but not a lot of meat. My friend had hair in her food which was a little nasty. It has a nice aesthetic and taste but hair + lack of meat = 3 stars.

You can find better Vietnamese cusine.This restaurant is decorated very nicely and the service is friendly but the food isnt that great.The Vietnamese vegetable crepe was bland and the vegetables seemed microwaved. The salt and pepper chicken wings were mostly tendon and cartilage.Finally, the pho, the main reason we came here, was also bland! We were really disappointed.

Clean resturant with a large menu that had several vegetarian and meat options. Personally loved the lemongrass tofu dish, it had a kick to it and was filled with flavor.The service was lacking and the Bok Choy with Silken tofu was a little bland for our taste so we would not order it again.Tip: The Vietnamese coffee was amazing, if you love coffee - order it!

At first it felt really weird to be in a Vietnamese restaurant with clearly non-vietnamese servers; even the kitchen staff seemed to be non-vietnamese as you could hear conversation going on in Spanish&English. I usually go to Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose and they are all very authentic. I was afraid this one wouldnt be, but I was already seated and decided to try it.I ordered a rice plate with pork chops, and my partner got a beef pho. One thing about the menu is that many plates come only with the English name, so when I saw chicken on rice I was wondering if it was comga (literally rice-chicken) a dish I enjoy, but the waitress didnt know what comga was. (I dont think they serve comga, the chicken came grilled, she explained, And comga is steamed).But food was good and tasty, not very different from other vietnamese Ive tried, although of course every place tastes slightly different. I found the soup not to have a good broth but my partner liked it, And he usually orders pho, so he should know best.The restaurant is a bit nicer than the typical vietnamese where waiters and bussers run around pushing carts of dirty dishes, but it still has the feeling of a vietnamese restaurant.

Pho water is always at a very gentle boil, 212° thats just the way it works and you put the meat into 212° water and it cooks.

The pho broth was not boiling hot and the rare steak was not cooked fully. I order a pho that included a variety of items and they did not put enough broth, making the items very difficult to move around and eat. Imperial rolls are egg small egg rolls that they cut up to 6 small peices for 11 dollars. No thanks.

So sad to say that this was the worst Vietnamese food weve ever had. None of the ingredients were fresh, the sauces were extremely sweet and syrupy, the crispy rolls soggy even the quality of the rice noodles were really poor. Given how expensive Pho Dong is compared to other options, it was a disappointment. I would recommend considering other restaurants for Vietnamese cuisine.

Born and raised in Vietnam, I can tell if the Pho is good and authentic-liking, and this is the place. I’ve been go-to for Pho at least once a week here in the last two years since I discovered this place. The broth is very aromatic and bold, the side herb/veggies are always fresh. Our go-to always 15 & 16 on the menu. Check it out!Besides, the people here also treat us like a family every time we come, they are truly one of my favorite local restaurants in RWC.

The price is unreasonable because the food portion is quite small. An order of shrimp fried rice costs $19. Don’t you think it’s ridiculous? As a student, I can’t afford a $19 meal at this restaurant anymore. Good luck with your business! I will never go back again.

The food was ok. I found the noodles in the vermicelli bowl to be over done and a little mushy. Flavors were really good! The peanut sauce was amazing. The service was terrible, however. Only 3 tables (including us) and it took forever (not actually) to get our order taken. Then they forgot one persons order. So they went to fix that. Fine. Only they came back 10 minutes later to tell us they didnt have bbq pork. Even the bill showed up before the meal.

I ordered the chicken pho, and it had good chicken broth flavor. It was filling, but at the end of the day it was slightly pricey(I mean its probably the area) Iv gone to anoher noodle house in walnut creek and had a more flavorful pho soup and had more ingredients as well for less money. The shrimp spring rolls literally only had one piece of shrimp so the first bite is amazing.. after that all you get is rice and lettuce with with a peanut sauce that is liquidy and has a nice peanut taste but would have been better if they incorporated actual crushed peanuts. All in all I would maybe go again to try something different but like I said. It is pricey for the quality of the food.

When I crave pho, this place will help satisfy that craving. Its not the best pho in the bay but if I want to grab a quick hearty soup locally this is my place to go to. When you go to a Vietnamese restaurant anywhere, you expect three things-- food, decor and service.Most every place will top out at two of those. Great food, friendly service, bad decor. Great service, nice atmosphere, crap food. You get the idea.Pho Dong hits the nail on the head with all three. This is a family owned restaurant that retains authentic Vietnamese flavor in their cooking, and even gives you an insight as to how your dish is prepared with the help of two HD screens playing footage from Vietnam.The booths are really comfortable too. Try the fresh spring rolls! Heres a tip-- one order is two rolls cut into four sections. If youre with an odd numbered party, ask your server to have the rolls cut into thirds so you can avoid that awkward moment when everyone is eyeing that last roll!

The old Asian Guy Im assuming the owner was very rude. I asked for extra sauce packs and he told me, I give you only 2 next time I charge.. The broth in my pho was flavorful and full of spice, but I prefer a weaker more wholesome meaty texture and flavor in my pho. The meat in my soup also had a strange texture. I enjoyed the pho, but it was nothing to really write home about. The imperial rolls came with a sweet and sour chili sauce, which is a big no-no to me. I requested Vietnamese vinaigrette after trying to enjoy the rolls without it. The rolls themselves were less tasty than I would have preferred and needed something to dip in. The Vietnamese coffee I ordered was more on the bitter side, and the liquid did not fill my iced cup all the way Luke most places. For $10/bowl, I would say look elsewhere. Its rather pricey, where I order a small bowl of pho, imperial rolls appetizer and imperial rolls totalled 21$. Thats a bit much for me for food I consider to be normally pretty affordable.

Upon previous visits, the cheerful and engaging owner let me know that the pho recipe required 100 lb of assorted meat, spices, and rock sugar boiled for 3 to 4 hours. This may still be the case, but the pho this time a bit thin and uninspired. Its customary in most Vietnamese restaurants to serve hot tea for free. Though I understand about rising cost, it was disheartening to pay $2 for stash tea instead of the expected jasmine tea usually served in Vietnamese restaurants. This is a clean, efficient, and well-run restaurant with serviceable food and would certainly satisfy most everyone. The menu has no Vietnamese translation of dishes and instead of saying pho tai it says steak pho. This is a good restaurant, will satisfy most people and their friends, but would benefit from a little more sincerity about their dedication to preserving more Vietnamese authenticity.
