We went here for Sunday lunch because our friends recommended it. We were promptly seated and served. We got our order within 15 mins of ordering.- pho with steak & brisket (#24): the broth was flavorful and good. The noodle cooked perfectly. I wish they gave more meat- chicken rice plate with fried egg, egg rolls, bbq short ribs, steamed egg, meatloaf, grilled shrimp (#38): the rice portion was quite small while there were lots of proteins in a plate. The grilled shrimps were delicious! The bbq short ribs were tender and flavorful. The other items were good too.

This is how I like my bun! The pork was perfect—sliced very thin and marinated perfectly. Lots of fresh vegetables. The sauce was perfect, too—slightly vinegary and slightly fish saucey, but not too sweet.With the cash discount, the take away serving was almost $15, but I’m still getting used to 2023 prices everywhere. It was so good that I will gladly pay that!The shop was lightly attended and the noise level was very pleasant. Two large tvs on a sports channel and low key music on the sound system. Service was polite and quick.My new favorite Vietnamese place. Give it a try.

NEW OWNERS SINCE NOVEMBER 2022! My bestie and I are from San Jose, land of the Vietnamese. We vouch for this bun bo hue! I did not like the pho broth, however. Back to the bun bo hue- 1 portion can feed 2 people. I always take half home. $14 if you pay cash. There’s like 5 meats in there- sliced brisket, pork bone, beef meatball, pork meatball, cha lua. NOM DROOLS Pls frequent them so I can have this home cooked style food nearby.

Stopped by here on my way to Reno from San Jose. I think the Pho and Bun Bo Hue is better than some of the overpriced Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose. My wife is pretty hardcore on Vietnamese food and she loved Bun Bo Hue. Their Vietnamese is really really good. I hardly do any reviews, but I had to do on for this restaurant. Came in and saw one kid running around like crazy cleaning up the tables, take orders and ring the cash register. Felt really bad for for the kid so I gave a little extra tips on top of what I normally tip. Also mad the second stop on my way back to San Jose from Reno. Definitely will stop here on my next trip to Reno.

I ordered online to get a chicken noodle soup pho, a sandwich and a drink. When I got my food the order was messed up. Instead of a pho I got a chicken and rice dish which I did not order. What I dont understand is how you mix up a soup and a rice dish.

Best pho within 20 miles and its not even close. Perfect broth. Amazing short ribs. You can tell they use very fresh ingredients. All the other broth in the area has a funky skunk to it like they use old beef. This place is the best in the area. Ive been to them all.

My husband and I ordered the brisket Pho. As you can see in the picture below the meat was all fat or majority fat, which made it unedible. The broth was bland. Very disappointed.

We ordered potstickers, a bowl of wonton pho, dac biet pho, shrimp and beef spring rolls, and a Korean rib rice plate. My daughter liked the fried potstickers that we ordered a second serving. I was told that the restaurant came under new management some five months ago. The place kept its tidy interior and the tables felt new. We enjoyed our lunch here. Our food is carefully prepared and the server was especially helpful.

Have you ever had one of those moments when you taste or smell something, and it instantly takes you back to a moment in your past? My dinner tonight did just that. I ordered the grilled pork and egg roll over vermicelli (Bun). It took my back to a Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam, sitting in a small, street side restaurant with my friend. The flavor was spot on to the Bun I ordered that night. Probably the most authentic flavor I’ve had since being there back in 2016. Glad I found this place. My only complaint is that the portion was a little small for the price. But, if you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese flavor, definitely eat here. You won’t be disappointed.

The pho is so good Ive never tried anything else on the menu. The choice of soups is huge, so it will take quite a while to go through the list. The restaurant is unpretentious, clean, and quiet. The waiters are always cheerful and helpful. This is a favorite place to take friends. Unbelievable value for the quantity and quality of food.

Ordered 2 large combination pho, barely any meat at all and no rare steak at all, and half a meat ball! I finished a large still hungry, when I normally barely finish a small. And the iced coffees were only half full cups, 3 sips and done. Considering this was one of the priciest pho places in the area, we were expecting better... it did taste good, but at those prices being stingy, we wont be eating here again.

Good food, if you can get it can them to bring it to your table. They refused to serve us at our table, instead setting it on the one next to us and said county rules wouldnt let them (which sounded strange). Later however, we noticed they would bring the food and drinks to other patrons tables directly that were obviously more regulars. I do not think we will be returning for dine-in.

Excellent food and absolutely wonderful customer service. We have been coming here for probably a decade and they very much make us feel like family. This especially means a lot now to us since my father passed away almost exactly a year ago. We would dine here as a family often and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

03/2023 UPDATE: Weve been back a few times under the new ownership. The main entrees remain solid choices, and pho broth is still good, but meat topping portions are still smallish, and prices seem even higher. The bigger disappoint now is the banh mi. Very hard, dry bread that dominates the entire sandwich, no discernable pate inside, and meager fillings and meat portions (see a pattern?). Pho Saigon has been one of our go-tos since 2007, but unfortunately I think that will change now. Downgraded to 3 stars.11/2022 UPDATE: Under new ownership as of November 2022. The new menu is shorter and simplified, which may be a good thing for this local demographic. (Most of your favorites are there, but fewer options, and only one size for pho.) Also a few added cross-ethnic additions. Pho broth was still good (although perhaps not quite as good as before), but portion sizes for toppings (meat, etc) is disappointing. Pan (bread) that was served with my entree was good; cant wait to try the banh mi next time. Ill keep it at 4 stars for now, but there are other options in the area if they fail to deliver.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the Roseville/Rocklin area. Everything is pretty solid here -- pho, rice dishes, appetizers, banh mi. Banh mi is a bit pricey at $5ish, but hey, youre not in South Sac.

Soup was good, but I ordered the chicken with shrimp and rice and it was awful. Chicken was one dry, burnt thin piece with I joke you not 2 pieces of small shrimp. I wasn’t even hungry and I finished it all in like 5 minutes, super disappointing. As a full on meal, don’t go here for anything other than the Pho soup.

I have to admit, this pho restaurant made me feel quite euphoric. The waitress was rather nice to me and commented on my nice trench coat. Like a true gentleman, I tipped mfedora out of respect and she brought out a complimentary side of spring rolls. So the customer service was outstanding and deserves a 10/10. Now for the food, oh my it was sublime! The hot broth made a sweat trickle down my neckbeard and the steam made my 10 inch framed glasses fog up. Truly, truly, an outrageous experience. 10/10 would eat again.

Ive found myself with a serious craving for a nice big bowl of pho lately, so I decided to head down from Marysville to give this place a go. Now, Im a bit of a purist when it comes to pho. I dont like anything fancy or new-fangled; just a traditional steaming bowl of well-made broth, simple rice noodles, a good helping of the appropriate cuts of beef and a plate of fresh herbs and bean sprouts to compliment them. Hit all these marks, and youve won a permanent place in my heart. Heres how Pho Saigons house special fared on all of these points:The Broth- Honestly, the broth was disappointing. It lacked the depth of spice that is the hallmark of carefully made, good pho broth. Traditional spices such as star anise and roasted ginger were nearly imperceptible and the resulting liquid was more akin to warm, beefy saltwater. By no means was it bad or unpalatable, merely disappointing when youve had the truly good stuff before.The Noodles- Lets face it, its pretty darn hard to mess up rice noodles. Save for when theyre severely undercooked and still brittle or overcooked and mushy, rice noodles are pretty generically rice noodles. These were cooked appropriately and, of all the factors I look for in good pho, the only one I have no complaints about.The Meat- My favorite part of pho is by far and wide the meat. Thinly sliced cuts of rare beef flank, Vietnamese-style meatballs and an assortment of cuts that are usually seen as undesirable in American cuisine (tripe, tendons and other fatty or cartilaginous bits and pieces) become pure heaven when slowly simmered in a good broth. The meat at Pho Saigon was actually quite good, but the quantity was a major disappointment. I requested (for an additional $2) extra meat to be put in my soup, but what I was given hardly amounted to what I would receive at my usual pho joints without requesting extra. This was extremely obvious when I realized that when it came to the Vietnamese meatballs, I had only been given half of one. Skimp on the noodles if you must, but go cheap on the meat and youve lost me.The Herb Plate- Pretty much standard to nearly all pho restaurants is the plate of herbs and bean sprouts that accompany your food. Pho Saigon was no different. This one consisted of a bed of fresh bean sprouts, two slices of raw jalapeno, a branch of none-to-fresh Thai basil that had been harvested far too late and half of a lemon wedge. Again, they seemed to skimp in one of the key aspects of pho. Aside from the overly mature basil being more bitter than fragrant, I had expected to have a choice between lemon and lime (and certainly more than half a wedge).For all of their shortcomings in terms of food quality, the waitress was extremely courteous and provided very good service throughout the entire meal. The decor was simple and neat and provided a fairly uninteresting but pleasant eating environment. All in all, Pho Saigon was worth the $10 for a large-sized bowl (though I have had better for less), but not the 45-minute drive. I may or may not return to this restaurant in the future. Its one of those take it or leave it situations.
