Really good Bun Bo Hue ( BBH) ! Honestly the best I had in San Diego! The broth is done just right and not too peppery unlike some other places I have been to. I noticed the best time for BBH is dinner time around 5pm-7pm. I went early once around 9am and the broth didn’t have enough time to cook, while on the other hand I went close to closing time and they ran out of key ingredients like the pigs blood!

If you’re in the area I’d definitely recommend pho van. I usually come in when they open. This place gets very busy so I’d recommend coming in early. They have a few more menu options than other pho places in the area.

Overall the food, service, and atmosphere of this place was extremely enjoyable. The appetizers were delicious and I was unable to capture the Pho because as soon as it came out my party and I started chowing down.I definitely recommend this place to anyone craving Vietnamese food, Thai tea with boba was made well and you can never go wrong with spring rolls. The waitress was fast, friendly and helpful and you can tell a lot of effort goes into making this place run.

We have been regulars for last 4-5 years. This is our go to! The service is amazing and attentive, the food has been consistent and delicious. I do need to mention that best times/days to come is weekday mornings. The staff always remembers our order and treat our child kindly each time. Love this place, especially the staff so much!

I came in there. Not really knowing what to expect but it was more than I expected. The service was great. They sat me down right away. The food was very homey and comforting. Exactly what I wanted. Highly recommended and heres why.OK, the food was excellent as it was the best Pho I ever had. Further, looking around I had noticed all the edges of the floor near the kitchen and overhead corners and everywhere it was spotless. The amount of work it takes for that level of cleanliness is award winning. Additionally, a person was appointed to solely watch all patrons and assign tasks to service hosts. The level of service provided matched the level of cleansliness and the food was served quickly, properly and tasted perfect. When a resteraunt tends to every detail in this manor and a tentative staff performs like an orchestra that is when you have found a special place.

Not only was this the best Vietnamese food Ive ever had, it is some of the best FOOD Ive ever had period. The pork vermicelli bowl was out of this world, best pork Ive ever had. I appreciated too that when I went to order I pointed out the large and the server said that I should order the small one--which I did, and the portion was still HUGE. The pho was also insanely good, my boyfriend (who is not a small man by any means) got a small pho and it was plenty for him. Next time we could share one dish. Great food, great prices, fast service.

Ive been here twice and the pho is just okay. The first time I ordered a pho dac biet large and the portions were definitely lacking. The broth tasted okay but is not especially flavorful. My second visit today confirmed that the broth is indeed very light and I had to add Sriacha to give it more flavor. I also ordered spring rolls and it tasted days old with a hard to chew rice wrapping. I personally do not like the spring roll sauce here either. Its okay for what it is but on the expensive side its not really worth it to me.

Some local friends took us here for an authentic Vietnamese cuisine experience. This family-run establishment was perfect for what we wanted... No nonsense staff and amazing food. The pho was delicious (a small bowl was more than enough) and the BBQ beef was recommended by the owners. Highly recommended!

The beef they serve is not beef. So the manager said he was give me a refund but do not come back. When he asked me not to come back I was upset. I noticed the other employee was upset as well. The employee made a comment saying something about dog meat. Another guest that speaks Vietnamese stands up and said you are feeding us dog meat I could not believe what I was hearing so I took a sample of the food in a to-go box. The manager was persisting not for me to take it because I did not pay for it. So I paid for it. I took it to a local laboratory here in San Diego and the meat in the beef and broccoli came back as dog meat. The meat and the soup came back as horse meat I notified the authorities. The authorities are not doing anything about it saying that the Laboratory I took the meat to could have made a mistake or I could have made up these documents. I asked the police detector to investigate and see that the laboratory is a human society laboratory instead. It is now been 30 days and I have not got any phone call back finding out. This is very popular in San Diego with Vietnamese people be careful of what you eat

The food in this place taste great personally I enjoy the shrimp fried rice, seafood pho, vietnamese rolls, & the broccoli beef. The fresh coconut was sweet and the copra of the coconut was soft and chewy. I would say that its also quite cheap for 4 items (can soda, pho, fried rice, & coconut)it was $30.00. As of now there is dining inside and outside. There is also parking in back but very limited. There is a restroom for the people dining.

Whoa… I might be too full to even finish this review. Ratings can be so bias which can certainly clog the integrity of reviews, but isn’t that the whole point? I don’t normally leave a review after only one visit but even those this place didn’t “wow” me it hit every aspect of an experience that I would want. I was left full for an affordable price. The place was clean and the staff was pleasant. The atmosphere fit the mood and the music set a great ambience. Again, it wasn’t red carpet but I wasn’t even looking for that with this visit. Call me boring but I stuck with the general #1 but why steer away from a classic? I paired it with a mango smoothie which may not be the norm for most but it’s my thing and I love it. I added some boba as well. If you’re looking for a chill spot for a quick bite or a casual sit down experience amongst friends then I’m sure this will fit your fancy. I wasn’t here at night but I’m sure this could set as a great date spot too. 👌🏽

Small, but very busy little whole in the wall place. Food is delicious and fairly priced for the portions you get. Everything is made to order and comes out very quickly. Only downside was that part of our order was incorrect so we had to wait longer to get some of our food, but they did fix their mistake very quickly. I did not see a parking lot so street parking may be difficult in this high traffic neighborhood. Everything we ordered was delicious and enough food to serve 2.

Read all of the other ratings- it’s legit pho.I had to knock a star off because they don’t have Sriracha.Sometimes inventory can be low, and you’ve gotta make due with what you have- totally get that. 3 times in the past 2 months with knockoff sriracha unfortunately warrants a review, however, as this now feels intentional.The people need the green top, red rooster sriracha. I usually get Pho with Brisket only, thats my hot item go to. If its hot out and I am craving something light and fresh Ill get a bowl of the vermicelli with wither grilled pork or chicken. This is absolutely my favorite Pho place in San Diego; I have been coming here for well over 15 years now. Living in San Diego all my life I have tried dozens of pho restaurants however, this has always my go to place for phenomenal Vietnamese food as well as great service. I usually get the pho with the rare steak as well as the number 88 which has charbroiled pork, rice, and vegetables. I have shared this hidden gem with several of my friends who in turn end up sharing the place with their friends!

This was our go to place, but on a very cold night we ordered pick up (which we’ve done before with no issue) and this time when I picked up our order half of it was frozen (including the rare steak which was just a brick) to the point that there was no way for the broth to cook the rare steak even after we heated the broth ourselves for several minutes. Disappointing to have spent $35 on soup that we couldn’t even eat.I’d give them 1 star for this experience but I’m hoping it’s a one off situation

I dont usually do this, but I ordered from here two nights in a row. Both times the food was consistently good! Last night my stomach was bothering me so I got the chicken pho. A lot of times the broth is meh from other places so I end up putting a lot of chili to add flavor. I didnt add any and the broth was still so flavorful. Tonight I got fried rice and was great. The prices are good, the portions are good, the food is good, and the service is fast. I will be coming here often.

Heads up, most of the rice dishes take significantly longer to serve for some reason. I went with a part of 3, the last plate served took 40 minutes, and the first dish took 20 minutes. If you get a soup base dish, it comes out really quick, roughly 8~10 minutes. Overall food is nice, a little burnt, but thats okay.

This is my favorite pho restaurant in town and my husbands been coming for over 15 years. Everything is delicious on the menu. Favorite Photo place in San Diego, good prices / fast service, and delicious food. Ive been here easily 50+ times by now. This is by far the best pho I have ever had. Usually when I get pho the chicken is dry and rubbery, but here the chicken is so dang tender! Also they have the best honeydew Boba. Theyre also extremely attentive and friendly. We used to go to the Saigon restaurant which is close to Pho Van but the owner was noticeably rude at every visit. I try Pho Special for $8.50 you get a big bowl of Pho full of meat and rice noodle. That is enough for whole day to explore San Diego. Compare with Pho in Toronto, Canada Pho Van is much much better. Everything was delicious, fast, good service.Number one thing I do at a pho restaurant is taste the broth, unaltered, and theirs is by far the best Ive had amongst my usual spots like pho hoa and pho ca dao. Four stars because the parking is utterly atrocious. In back they have some outdoor seating that blocks the building specific parking leaving only the choice of street parking, which is pretty difficult on el cajon blvd. Almost turned around and left.

Still getting used to dining in but tables are spaced out. Rare steak pho was flavorful and very filling for the regular! Large portions. Also got the egg rolls which you cant go wrong with. We also ordered the bun bo hue which was also very delicious- hint of spice and sour soup!Bonus- bathrooms are very clean and employees/servers are wearing masks!

During the covid crisis this restaurant is still everything you want when you are looking for pho. From the moment you walk in, it feels like youre family. They usher you to your seat with warm greetings and talk about the weather and ask about the trip to get there. Very welcoming staff. Then the servers get right down to business and make sure that you are ordering the right pho for you.I typically order my pho with rare steak and brisket. I like my brisket fatty. This place delivered the fatty brisket. I told the server to send my compliments to the cook about the brisket and she laughed. She came back two minutes later with a plate of brisket compliments of the chef.I definitely will be back. Dont threaten me with a good time!

Great service! Parking is a little tricky, but there are a few spaces out back. The manager and servers were very attentive, which distinguished Pho Van from many other pho restaurants in the area who tend to rush you. The shrimp, eggroll, and sugarcane vermicelli bowl was delicious.

Pho Van is pretty good. Had the standard (which is everything - tripe, flank, rare steaks, squid and always what I try to base a place on whether I can go back and try more) and it was tasty. Broth was a little bland so it needed to be kicked up a notch... which helped. The Vietnamese egg rolls were very good as well. A few other things...smaller servings...at other Pho places Ive been, its much bigger bowls of Pho, service time...they definitely had the slowest time to make Pho of any of the places Ive been to. It is still a place that I go back and try again because it was good. Street parking only.

My family and I had visited Phõ Van for a long time, but TODAY, a few minutes ago, I just had a veggie 🍲 pho and was almost done eating it in their newly re-opened restaurant, when I found a piece of metal scrub fiber, the one used for pans and pots. The piece was long and I was able to notice it when I was chewing. I immediately spat it back into the bowl.I felt disgusted by the poor hygiene from the cooks and dishwashers. I complained to the front of house staff and all they said was that they were sorry.I made sure to tell them to be extra careful with their food handling so as to avoid any harmful food poisoning or harmful non food material from being ingested. I WILL NEVER RETURN to eat there. I hope 🤞 Phõ Van improves their food handling and that no one gets sick 😷 from eating there.May the Overall quality of Pho Van improve.

I ordered from them for delivery, and they sent me the wrong food, didnt send an item, and refused to fix the issue. I called Grubhub delivery, they tried to get me to refund the order instead of sending out, but one person wouldnt have gotten any food. Grubhub said they would resend the food, and its been well over an hour and I ha e been on hold for over 20 min. Really bad customer service on both parts.

This is my favorite place to eat. Moved here to Cali. In 2015. Tried a couple other places before this place. And now, this is the ONLY PLACE I EAT PHO. They have the BEST FOOD, best prices, THE BEST SERVICE.My youngest son. Is unable to speak. And is so picky. We pass by and he yells and screams fwwoood. Delicious pho and quick service. That beef broth is the best Ive had locally. I get the rare steak pho (#13) and hubby gets the pho ga (chicken noodle soup #18) every time. Parking is hard sometimes due to limited space in the street and small parking lot, but its well worth a few drives around the block.
