Great pho. The meat was delicious and noodles were really good! We also ordered the imperial rolls with the chicken, shrimp, and crab and those were delicious as well. The broth could have been a bit better in the pho but overall a really good meal. Even the service was spot on the whole time. The only downside to this place is the price. Ive had better pho at half the price.

Ive been wanting to come here on Sundays but found out they are closed on this day. This place was actually recommended by the owners nephew who I know. Good thing tonight I happen to be nearby and decided to come in. The restaurant is clean and has got a good decor. Food and service is quite good. I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli. To my surprise it is not your typical Vietnamese vermicelli. I would consider it fusion Vietnamese. Instead of a bowl the meal is served on a plate. It looks like they are trying to accommodate the Western taste in every way. I was most impressed with the egg rolls. I normally dont like the standard Vietnamese egg rolls which are stuffed with some unknown mushy meat. However, the ones here are stuffed with ingredients that you can see and know what they are. Overall the food experience was good. I cant wait to find out how they serve their Pho and rice plate on my next visit.A couple of things to watch: parking is awful around the area. Its better to come at night. During the day its all metered parking so that will add cost to your meal. Secondly, prices at this restaurant are about 50% higher than your standard Vietnamese restaurant. I normally pay $10 somewhere else but here I paid $16 plus tips. Still a good experience.

Pho is a 7.9/10. Good portions. Too many onions, not enough salt. Broth is good. Good servers. Not too busy at night. Good menu options. More expensive than other Pho places in the Bay Area.

My partner and I slipped in at 7:50pm on a Wednesday and were really happy to get a seat and a quick bite before they closed. The host/server was very kind and the kitchen was fast.We loved their tofu spring rolls and I thoroughly enjoyed their spicy beef salad. I would definitely recommend this place to others, the spring rolls and peanut sauce alone are worth the stop.

Food is always great, and the #3 and #4 noodle soups were staples of our shelter-in-place takeout rotation. Our recent experiences with in-store dining has been a bit mixed - somewhat rude service. For example, before the soups came out and I asked for basil because it hadnt come on the plate of bean sprouts and jalapeños, and the guy said its because I had eaten it already (plain, stems and all??). But... My veggie and tofu soup was delicious and my partner loved his chicken and shrimp soup, so... Well definitely be back.

An Oakland institution. Reasonable prices. Great food. Extensive menu. The bun (vermicelli noodle salad) was delicious. Meat perfectly prepared and tender, which can be a challenge with such thin cuts. Imperial rolls not overly greasy, with subtle flavor. Service both friendly and efficient. Comfortable atmosphere. Look forward to my next meal here.

Pho is pretty good -- broth is great! Wish I got the combination.... if you order the rare steak you dont get any of the other classic fixings with it. Price is very reasonable and portions are generous. A no-brainer for lunch if you work downtown.

One of the good pho I ever had. Nice beef broth soup and deep flavor. I only had beef Pho but this is Pho place and has to be beef traditionally. If the basic food is really good, it deserves 5 star. Also, a lot of meat!! Compare to other restaurants!! I heard they raised the price little but still friendly price to me. Now for next Pho adventure..

A colleague introduced me to Pho 84 when I worked in downtown Oakland over ten years ago. At the time, the service was good, the decor was good, and the food was excellent. If you didnt get there early for lunch, youd have a long wait.Now that I dont work nearby, I order takeout as often as I have the energy to drive downtown. In the intervening time, the owners (who recognize me when I call for takeout) have improved the decor and kept the excellent food. I have favorites that I always order, so I cant offer feedback on most of the current menu; however, I can recommend numbers 42 and 63 from the dinner menu (love the curry with coconut milk). And the special rice really is special.

I can only speak for the chicken pho. Heads up, it comes in beef broth; I didn’t notice any veggie pho options. The beef broth was great, really flavorful. The large comes with a good amount of chicken. The prices seemed a bit steep for what it was, but if you check the menu and you’re willing to pay the prices, it tastes good. I enjoyed the food, but I’d probably want to try something else first before going back. The menu seemed a bit mushroom heavy, which doesn’t thrill me, so I’d not be too interested in trying other dishes. The beef in the pho didn’t look great even in the menu pictures, so I passed on that. The staff were friendly and helpful. The seating area is pretty large, and on a weekday evening there was space available.There’s a decent amount of parking around in the evening.

The clay pot rice is a feast. All their dishes are outstanding and the owner is very nice. The neighborhood is a bit sketch. Don’t leave your backpack in the car. Try the savory rice.

Have lived in the neighborhood for 7 years... have walked past this place 1000s of times... finally decided to grab takeout for dinner.... OMG! So so so good! They sent me home with the beef Pho, broth was separate from the beef and noodles we combined in the comfort of our kitchen... so fresh and that broth is dreamy! We asked for spicy... got extra jalapenos. Will be headed there way more often from now on!

The pho here is out of this world. The offer the increasingly rare... rare steak pho option. It was nice to see it on the menu here and even better when it came! Perfect sized portion, filing for both myself and my spouse (we both ordered the regular size - the smallest of the two size options). The large size is only a dollar more, so why not indulge if you fancy a really large bowl of pho! The service here is very pleasant and always with a smile.

I ordered a pho soup for lunch but the container I was given was too small for all the ingredients I had to only put in half of the noodles. No hot sauce in the bag! The most important thing was kinda my fault because since it was my lunch time I just singed the receipt but forgot to put the amount due. Well that just actually proofs who’s honest because the owner tipped her self. My total was $20 for a beef pho soup with shrimp and a can coke but she bumped it to $29.41A few days later I called asking for prices of what I had purchased and without me telling her nothing else she knew who I was. Never again will I go there. My bank had to refund me the difference

Food was great. We arrived right before lunch was over, if they hadnt started cleaning up while we were there i would have never noticed. They were extremely kind and patient with us. The food was great and the atmosphere was surprisingly quiet even though the restaurant was quite full. Very good experience.

We usually go there on Saturdays. the hostess, Thaie, takes good care of us. But, this time, on Friday, she wasnt there & the wait staff was horrible. Waitress was impatient, loud & rude. Also, serving size of plates are much smaller + prices went up. No More for Us.

Pho was excellent. Broth was very good, good flavor and not too greasy. Ive tried alot of pho from so.cal. this place ranks #2 . #1 will be the pho 79 in westminister. Egg rolls was perfectly cooked. Maybe even home made. Flaky and lots of filing. Service was just as good as the food, very attentive and polite. Price was fair for the quality of food. I will be coming back when im in the area again.

Not really sure why its called Pho 84 when it only has 4 types of pho on the menu. Also, the 4 star rating is a bit misleading. Yes, I must agree that it probably is one of the better pho joints in downtown (financial) Oakland, but there are sooo many more better, cheaper and authentic pho places just a mile out near International or Chinatown.Id say the food here is more clean...if you know what I mean. The beef pho didnt have brisket or tripe in it and only a fork and napkin was set at the table...eating pho with a fork just felt so wrong! $10 for a small bowl. The broth cold have been stronger/ more flavorful and the meat cuts were rough, but the meat balls were actually bouncy and delicious.I

Good Vietnamese food restaurant in downtown Oakland. Good food and in quantity. The only notable thing is that the place and the tables are small. Good service.
