This was our first time here, the food was so good here! We got some gyoza seafood pho w/o squid or fish balls. Everything was delicious. Will definitely go back!
I loved their Pho soup. They do not skimp out on the veggies nor the protein, no matter the size, as opposed to some other places. The server was very friendly. As far as the utensils, they supply you sufficiently to have success eating Pho: deep spoon thing, fork, & chopsticks! The low-key atmosphere was also enjoyable. Oh yeah- and the request to make the soup spicy was no regretted; they didnt overpower it, so it still had numerous flavors.
Unfriendly, not authentic Viet food, Korean guy was 100% racist. We’re NOT ASKING for food. we’re PAYING for it, yet treated us like trash. Food tastes awful yet pricey as well.

Just because there is only one star I gave a star. If I didnt even need to rate this embarrassment of a business, it wouldnt even receive a quarter of a star. Customer service sucks, they do not care for your business and are very rude. Long wait time and never were attended. I wouldnt even bring my dog to eat here.
The pho itself was simply amazing. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the meat and noodles were cooked to perfection. It was obvious that a lot of care and attention went into every dish, and I truly appreciated the attention to detail. Overall, I highly recommend this pho 88 to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch, and I cant wait to come back again soon!

Delicious, Cozy and the waitress that was by herself was handling very well! Don’t add anything to the broth it is perfect the way it comes aside from the basil and sprouts and a lil squeeze of lemon is recommended but it can go with out it. Delicious 🤤 noodles were perfect I even got an extra Side of them the meatball, steak and brisket hit the SpOT! I love this place and I’m a hard critic!

I will say I havent gone to this place many times but the one time I did the broth was very fresh on the fur in the spring rolls were tasting. The menu isnt extensive as other places but still worth a try.

Below average pho.I should have trusted the reviews but didn’t. It was on the way, so I decided to give it a shot.Broth is just isn’t right and is acidic.Meat ball tasted okay but also a little funny.Steak is cut too thick.You can’t cut one giant spring roll into 4 pieces and call it 4 spring rolls.You shouldn’t make giant 2 inch wide spring rolls in the first place. Stuff is going to fall out.The peanut sauce tasted like peanut butter.It’s very obvious that the cooks and the owners aren’t Vietnamese, and they lack understanding of the cuisine.I have had worse, but I won’t be returning.
We were hesitant to try this place but since this was the closest pho restaurant so we decided to try it, the place was busy during lunch hour and they’re under staff only one waitress. So we ordered pho combination and egg roll and to my surprise it was really good top of that the waitress was really friendly too. I would recommend this place for anyone who’s craving for pho.
So we used to live this place and the food is actually still very good. However the problem is the owner and the service. He is very rude and has no customer service skills and also rarely ever answers the phone. Ive been on both ends of this unfortunately where Im sitting down in the dining room and the phone just rings noon stop over and over and he never answers. Or you try to call in an order and no one will ever pick up. I used to live this place and unfortunately have had to remove this place from my go to spots simply because of the service and inability to get ahold of them
I ordered pho to go from this place and they completely messed up my order. However, I called and the customer service i received went above and beyond. Once I did get my order the food was delicious. They are a little pricey but overall I dont think Ive had a bad menu item yet.

I live an hour out of Bakersfield and when I got home to eat my pho, there was a 2 foot long plastic string like material in my pho. Specifically in my noodles. Needless to say I did not eat my food. I have read other reviews of people encountering the same problem. Please just check your food before you eat it.
I can almost swear the broth is microwaved before its served. Unusually hot and not savory compared with other pho joints in town.
I love the pho here. My go to place in Bakersfield. They do change waitresses often and the owner isnt very friendly. But I go eat the food, so his unfriendlyness doesnt bother me so much once I have that delicious bowl of steaming Pho in front of me.
This place is garbage. I ordered the 4 spring rolls for pick up. I got it home and they gave me 2 loosely wrapped spring rolls cut in half. They were so poorly made (loose roll, falling apart) I couldnt even eat them and Im glad I couldnt. The sprouts were brown & slimy, obviously bad. I called about it and the chick who works there said thats how the 4 spring rolls are served. When I politely confronted her about it being 2 cut in half she said theyre busy and hung up on me. I will drive clear across town to pho vy or pho hut from now on. This place will give you food poisoning & have the nerve to be rude to you about it..
For one the food is very good. Staff is attentive and checking up if everything is okay so far.Secondly, my girlfriend had left her purse there after lunch one day and the staff made sure to keep it safe until we had a chance to go pick it up. Big bonus.Can not go wrong with the Pho Tai bowl.Im a stronger eater and had enough with the small sized bowl.Get the large if youre brave.Great location. Feels cozy.
The food is delicious. My family and I love eating here but why 3 stars? Well first off they need to hire more people because we were not seated until 10 minutes after and there was no waitress or manager in sight. When we ordered food it took more than 30 minutes. Also, the waitress kept giving us other customers orders. The manager was rude to his staff.
First time going there. The food was delicious, portions were generous. I just think that they need better management. We went at lunchtime. There was only one person taking care of the the whole room. From seating guests, taking orders, serving, taking payments and cleaning tables. The poor employee looked overwhelmed, but kept it together.
Very dirty, I have no idea how they got an A rating on the window. Dirt, grime, and trash in the corners and crevasses all around the restaurant, everything on the tables is open and exposed (condiments, sugar, chillies, all open and shared with spoons) none of it was clean at all, crusty, old jars with dried food and obviously never seen a refrigerator. Service was mediocre at best and the food tasted like it came from a microwave, veggies were old, dried out and browning. I will never step foot into this place again. ***Update*** About an hour after writing this review (two hours after eating at Pho88) I had extreme intestinal/stomach cramping from food poisoning. DO NOT EAT HERE.
After a snafu with our order, it came back perfect.I like mine extra spicy. Great flavor. The restaurant is decorated with high end accessories. The staff was friendly and polite. Would definitely return to try other menu items.
First time coming here. Service was ok. My daughter ordered the steak teriyaki. I had pho ga. It was extremely hot like it was possibly microwaved. I have never had pho that was practically boiling. The deal breaker was a roach on the wall. It stayed there the entire meal like an uninvited guest. I let the server know but it ruined the whole meal from that point on.
My first experience was excellent, my family loved our regular orders for over a year. However, something has changed quite a bit. It’s too bad because we really did love it.
Great service! Food was fresh, Pho 88 broth is pretty good compare to some other pho places in Bakersfield. I got the gyoza & spring rolls they were great. Korean spicy noodle is so good if you like spicy noodle seafood soup you have to try. Waitress was kind and attentive. Will be coming back
Good food. A bit on the pricey side but the portion sizes make up for it a bit. Eaten here almost 20 times, however, we left once due to poor service. The waitress was wearing a very inappropriate shirt and was only interested in helping a table full of young men. Every other time it has been very relaxed and pleasant. The sodas are given to you in a can with a cup of ice on the side. Its obvious they are trying to improve since their opening but they need to pick up the pace or they will fail. I recommend giving it a try for lunch.
Called to place my order in. Came out with no pho. I called and asked if they did pho take out. And they said no. The thing is, I ordered pho and the waitress had asked me what size bowl I wanted, and laughed and said no pho carry out when I called. I thought that was rude being my first time ordering food here. The beef and teriyaki rice plates were very yummy tho. And the spring rolls were over priced with little meat and way too much noodles. They basically took 2 whole spring rolls, cut it in half and said it’s 4 spring rolls. Will not come here again.

I hate the customer service of this place. I went this place for the first time today and order a pho. But when I receive the bowl and it was come with bunch of cilantro in the bowl. Most of pho places were serve cilantro separately because many people doesnt like it and I hate cilantro. I explained the situation and ask them to change it but they say no. They say other place is other place and they always serve like that so they cant change it. So I just try one spoon and left all of it because of the smell and I pay for the plate what I cant eat.
Costumer service is horrible. they kicked us out when they closed in 30 minutes. never coming again!!
The food was gross. The meat was stringy, tough, and absurdly thick for pho. The broth was gross and had a sour taste to it. Was served with dirty produce including yellow bean sprouts, dirty brown basil, browning lemons, and the cilantro in it looked like it was going bad and was cut huge. I even tried to add hoisin and sriracha. No help. The lady came over to my husband and I and we asked for the check and she even proactively asked us if everything was okay because we weren’t eating and we told her no and told her what was on her and she said we should’ve said something sooner and she was still charging us. 23 dollars for two smalls that we barely touched and asked for the check for. Save your money, go to Pho Vy.
I called today to place my food order. I started asking questions about ingredients since there is no real menu online. I let the employee know I have food allergies. One of my questions got answered rudely, as soon I started asking my next question he hung up on me. If you are going to get frustrated with customers over something like this, maybe you shouldnt work food service. Having food allergies is hard enough as it is.. My family will stop going to this restaurant.
My respect with their food. This was my first time in this place and trying this place and food and it was great. I got the shrimp fried rice and I loved it. Thank you Pho 88. Ill be back soon!
The food was ok, not the best. Horrible service, will never come back! It took forever for our food to come out and after I finished my meal the waitress gave me my bill and I paid in cash so I was just waiting for my change so meanwhile I put the tip on the table. The waitress was a older white lady, she then comes to clean up our table with me still waiting for my change! Then she takes the tip I left for her in front of me? And I’m STILL WAITING for my change that she NEVER brought back. I know she was planning to keep it! Finally she catches me watching her so she goes to the register and brings back my change. SO WEIRD! I work with food and I know proper costumer service this lady did not have any.
Pho restaurants are either bland or delicious. This one has delicious pho. I couldnt stop eating it! The spring rolls were also well composed and tasty. Service was prompt but uninterested in chatting. Jury is still out on whether theyre gluten free friendly though, Im leaning toward not. So celiacs should approach this restaurant with care.
Their seafood noodles where delicious, I did think their spring rolls were small but good. Overall really good food. Will come back again. They also seem to have a variety of choices on menu

Im no food expert. Just a hungry dude. Eaten at a lot of pho places and this is one of the better ones. Ate there twice in the past two days. First was their beef pho soup. Very tasty especially since I had a couple of ginormous spring rolls. Also, very tastey. Tonight had the Korean house soup,which was deliscous coupled with some egg rolls. If you like to eat, their large bowls are very well sized and you wont go away hungry or disappointed in the food. Service is pretty good considering there is only one wait staff. So try it out you might just like it😆
The pho is really good, the only reason I give it a 4 is due to the lack of flavor in the broth. I had to keep adding more sauce then soy sauce then sauce lol but all in all it is very fresh and good. The portions are large and the gyoza is very good. We also got their chicken pad Thai and it was very good. We will be back for more.
When this place is on, its on. When its off, its comically bad. They had a nice red headed lady working there, and I thought they had turned things around. Last time we ordered, the guy was rude to my wife. As a former regular customer that lives a couple minutes away, I will now drive across town to NOT give this guy business.
First time there, wanted to try it out. Walked in and the place was very dirty, table was stick, the sauce that were in the middle of the table were dirty and sticky! Sauce was spilled everywhere, chairs were very dirty. Asked for water with lemon, waiter gave us water with lime a very dry lime. Place was not very clean at all, we walked out.
I’ve gone to almost every Pho spot in Bakersfield. Pho 88 has the most consistent broth and it’s the best tasting of them all. I can’t name a better place than pho 88

Meat was so tough you couldn’t chew it. Bean sprouts and basil were dirty. The cilantro tasted foul, and they didn’t even have limes. The waitress was also rude.
Really good soup served here. Service is a little alow and sometimes you have to wait for someone to come out front and tend to you but other than that the food has been good every time i go. Never disappointed.
Not a great place for anything authentically Vietnamese. They had no coconut water, no Vietnamese coffee, no Thai basil for pho, and served cooked when I asked for raw. The pho itself was ok, but nothing to rave about.
Too salty we found chunks of salt on the fried rice, pad Thai not tasteful at all, we had to get up few times to get utensils, and at the end I didn’t know what type of food it was. Korean, Vietnamese, or Japanese? Pho soup it was good but I don’t recommend the rest. Poor service!

Served me with raw chicken. waitress is rude, i was still eating and wasnt even half way done with my food and there she put our check on our table and a box for my food. then just now as i was checking my bank account, i found the card i used to pay there was over charged $4. always check your account, someone there adds extra $ for tip i guess.

The cuisine is filling, but lite; so you dont leave the restuarant feeling miserable. The environment is really relaxed and I feel comfortable going in with my family wearing jeans and flip-flops.

But today on my pho I found a hair and a flye. . .i mean come on I know sometimes things happen but to find two things it just gross me out. . .the waitress ..very nice offer to change it .. .but I got the spring rolls instead. .. . Prices on the online menu were $2 less than the actual price they charged me when I picked up my order. I was also charged a to-go container fee of $1.50 in addition to the price increase. When I called back to inform them the menu prices online were not the same that I was charged, I was told that the prices on the online menu have changed over a year ago. They really need to update their online menu prices.
The food is yummy, reasonably priced. Very clean and nice interior. The staff is knowledgeable on what is in each dish. I am definitely going back.

2022-10-31 03:05:35DONT EAT HERE‼If I can give this place ZERO stars, I would. Im from Fresno, and they have many pho restaurants there, ive also worked as a waitress as a pho restaurant. So I would consider myself pretty experienced in this field. First of all when my husband and I walked in, a male server looked at us and walk away. My husband and I stood by the door for about 10 minutes, when the male server showed us where to sit, he made us go grab the food menu. when the male server asked us if we were ready to order, he didnt bother coming to our table and expected us to yell our order across another table. we spoke low so that hell come to us, which he did. we ordered our food which was 2 thai teas, pho#2, a seafood pho, and gyoza. They serve us our thai teas, mine tasted kind of off and my husbands tasted really good. Our pho came next and the broth was different from any pho broth. it was really sour. the only ingredients that were on our table was soysauce, sriracha, chilli oil and garlic sriracha. When they served us our pho, the noodles were WAY too overcooked! i would pick up the noodles and they would break! Same with my husband. After eating our pho for a few minutes, our gyoza came and i automatically knew that they were costco gyoza. and they also served it with straight soysauce, not even diluted soysauce. i didnt bother eating the gyoza but my husband ate 2 and did not enjoy it. I didnt finish my pho because i didnt like the food and was unsettling to my stomach. My husband was almost finished with his food until... he found a PLASTIC WRAPPER in his soup! I took a picture of it and we told this really nice latina waitress and she said omg let me go take it to the back so she and did and you wont believe it, but they gave us the same bowl and took out the plastic and said that it was okay because it was a crab wrapper. My husband argued that it shouldnt have been there in the first place and suggested that they should do something about it. The male server came out and said that they couldnt do anything about it. I wouldnt mind paying for it but the fact that they said the couldnt do anything about it? that is a CHOKING HAZARD! the least they couldve done was apologize which they didnt!! my husbands soup shouldve been free at that point. anyways he left first because he was getting very angry and i stayed to pay for the food. i hope the health department comes to this place soon since its noted that they have MULTIPLE HEALTH VIOLATIONS here!!

2023-11-11 03:04:23This is my 4th visit at this location, 2nd time ordering to go, and twice I dined in. I prefer dine in, but when in a hurry, I appreciate ordering it to go. Pho is one of my favorite soups, so good, especially on a cold or rainy day. I am a vegetarian; I always order the same menu items. Veggie Pho it is #12 on their menu under the different types of Pho. And the I get an order of their vegetarian fresh/raw spring rolls. I suggest any other vegetarians to also try Pho 88. I simply tell them when ordering to not use any fish sauce, as the food is made fresh at ordering. The service was also friendly, professional, relaxed, and prompt.

It smelled overwhelmingly like body order but was probably onions etc. And the servers were in street clothes.Each bowl was about $15 (big bowls)It took about 35 minutes for my two bowls of takeout and the restaurant was not full. I could also hear other customers complaining about the wait.The pho was okNot worth the waitWould not dine in

2018-02-19 06:52:41We passed Bakersfield and found this place by accident along the way of our road trip. It turned out a pretty good place. Pho is served in stylish bow and tastes great. Interior has a nice sense of style and decor, not like a typical Vietnamese restaurant. Wait staff was nice. I would recommend.

2023-10-11 00:40:54I got a beef pho two days in a row. Both times I asked for hoisin sauce. Both times they decided I would not have hoisin sauce with my meal. Due to this, I am unable to recommend. Due to being born on the wrong continent for this cuisine, I am being punished because I do not have the needed condiments on hand to enjoy this meal. We are not all so fortunate to have these condiments on hand, the world would be a happier, healthier, more inviting and forgiving place for everyone if we all just had access to these condiments; however, we do not. This is just a reality and injustice we all face, this is not taken into consideration when you order from Pho 88. Be warned!!!!!!!!

2021-09-15 02:43:30Pho88 is one of my favorite places for Pho! Their Shrimp spring rolls are so good!! Service can sometimes be a little slow but I think like in many places, theyre finding it hard to hire people so you cant hold it against, they do a great job at keeping their patrons happy and its worth the wait!

2023-07-23 21:38:26This place is in a quiet area and kind of hidden. I tried this place because it was recommended to me for pho in Bakersfield. 3/10 pho was okay. The chicken tasted old and reheated the pho was pretty basic and didn’t have much of an authentic long boiled pho taste like it should’ve been.
